Question myself, since I'm having a fucking hard time trying to get the CFW setup, I left tubehax DNS off because I didn't want to stop browserhax. I then couldn't use Ironhax anymore because my firmware was so old the system would softlock and browserhax stopped working when I downgraded. Eventually, it updated anyways.

I think 4chan would be better at writing guides than any of the shits at gbatemp. Most of them list multiple steps that aren't relevant since I don't own a gateway and just want the simplest CFW solution.

Browserhax stopped working when you downgraded because it works differently on different firmwares. The sliderhax thing people keep mentioning? That's the 9.2 browser way to access homebrew. Go to the page, there will be a slider in the top left corner. Poke the rightmost edge of it and homebrew will load.

As for updating anyways, fucking how? The dns will only stop sneaky updates that nintendo might shove in when 10.4 becomes a thing. Your 3ds will generally ask you if you want to update before it does shit.

You can. I have and it's works like a charm. Make sure to install your fbi to the emunand and only use it there, I've heard there have been issue with using it in the sysnand and the installed games will go to whichever nand the fbi is installed anyways

If you get good at it you could buy used 3dses cheap, downgrade, install cfw, and sell for a large profit. People will pay top dollar for a hacked 3ds.

So I accidentally set coldboot to emunand and then realized I was doing it wrong and set it to sysnand

Now my system coldboots emunand and then tries to coldboot again and ends up crashing unless I hold x right after I launch rxtools.

It's not really that big of a deal and I'll fix it eventually but is there a way to change menuhax so it only runs in sysnand and disables for emunand on the 3ds or do I have to just uninstall menuhax and start over from the beginning?

Be sure that the correct files for the firmware that you want to downgrade are all in a folder called "update" in the root of your SD card.

And be sure that you have the EXACT firmware version for your 3DS model.

If you have done that... just keep trying. It's not bug free or garanteed to work yet.

You should be saving tubehax for after you have everything in place. Once you've arranged it so that you don't have to use the browser to access rxtools/homebrew than you apply it. Nintendo won't do shit to you if you don't have it yet. 10.4 is when things start to fall apart and that's not till the 11th.

I'm trying to install menuhax, however I followed the guide, basically install 'success', then go to config triggers - type0 'success'

says if I hold L in home menu it would coldboot into homebrew

but it doesn't do anything I've restarted the n3ds and doesn't work still. I'm not sure if menuhax is installed or not.

Got everything setup so far. My only issue is CTR doesn't autoboot rxtools, so I have to manually hold the L button to boot it into emunand. Seems like the issue is not unlinking nand but whatever, I don't feel like pushing my luck anymore. Spent 2 days figuring out these hacks and shit. At least I can play free vidya now.

So I was running RxTools and got this Unwrap bug everytime I boot up my console.

I read at gbatemp it was recommended to UNLINK NANDS and that's what I did.

Little did I know by doing that I cant use online on my cfw, after unlinked.

So im asking if there is any way to play online on my cfw after unlink?

It's not "Hold this button to coldboot" It's "Select what button to hold if you do not want to coldboot."

I set mines to x. So if I hold x while I turn on my 3ds, it goes to sysnand, the normal 3ds version. But if I don't hold anything, rxtools boots up and then it goes to emunand

You can use rxtools to boot your emunand. The emunand firmwear should have an Rx or something in front of it. The sysnand firmwear doesn't have any latter's at the start, just the 9.2.
Change the theme and icon size and placement so you can tell at a glance whether youre in the sysnand or the emunand.

Question: How do system transfers work if you transfer shit from an O3DS with CFW to a new N3DS?

I just installed my first cia game.

However I had a legal download copy of a link between worlds that I was in the middle of playing before all of this.

The game is now gone and I assume the save file is as well.

I backed up everything up on PC before the downgrade and just before installing emunand too.

You keep stuff after downgrade, it only "clears" when you unlink NANDs(via resetting) and only on one NAND, you can choose which one. Just don`t forget to backup before creating an emu-partition.

When I run ssb4 (game cart) I get a message that says "An error has ocurred. turn off the console...", I tried booting up the game from title manager as well but gives me the same result, would delete the updates (that I downloaded directly from nintendo since an Anon says it was ok) and download them as cia fix the problem? Had this problem. I used the files from 3dsiso. Starter kit, 9.2 cias, menuhax, etc. After you have menuhax (assuming you used the files from 3dsiso..), open up ftbrony from the menuhax and hit b to exit. Then open up the sysupdater. Should work. Worked for me.

Browserhax will always work for any firmware avaiable now. If you don't get menuhax and upgrade your 3ds to a future 10.4 you won't be able to use the homebrew launcher since 10.4 will most likely fix the browserhax trick.

You already have the starter kit I'm assuming. Worked flawlessly for me. If after you don't have fbi on your emunand, he links it in the post how to inject into health and safety. Just download decrypt9 and put all the files on your sd card. Open up rxtools, find decrypt9 and open it. Follow the instructions on the tutorial he links and you're all set. I was confused doing it since they don't tell you how to get decrypt9 on the console. Screencap this if the thread prunes. You'll want it.

Formatting emunand shouldn't do anything visibly but wipe your card honestly. The nand.bin is a backup from dumping your nand.
Just put all your files back on your sd card after you format emunand, then format system settings in your 3ds (without the sd in it). Now you'll have an unlinked sysnand and emunand.
Now when you load up rxtools you should be able to boot into emunand. This is your CFW

I got everything working. I boot to the boot manager and load rxtools, but when I try to install cias none of them appear on my home menu in emunand. Rebuilding dbs does nothing.

Oh you're trying to get FBI on your NANDs? If you already unlinked, dump EmuNAND with EmuNAND Tool and flash it back to your SysNAND by putting its NAND.bin on root, going into Gateway Menu (download the .3dsx from their site, run w/HBL) and pressing A while holding up on "Downgrade Console" to restore your NAND.bin to SysNAND again

After that (or if you didn't unlink nands yet) then run pasta, hold trigger button to prevent menuhax, get back into homebrew launcher via browserhax, run FBI.3dsx, install FBI.cia

Finally, format EmuNAND with EMUNAND9 (back up files first) and you should have FBI on EmuNAND.

Do the pasta>homebrewlauncher>FBI.3dsx>FBI.cia method again to get it on sysnand too.

Let it extract the NAND.bin from your SD card, and put the NAND.bin it extracts back on root named "NAND.bin". Then flash that file back into sysnand via gateway launcher

1) Turn on system
2) Browser
3) launch.rxtools.net
4) H&S
5) Install FBI.cia

This is correct, right? I just did this.
If it's right, what's next? Am I done? Is there a better way into EmuNAND than through the browser?

Followed instructions carefully, but can't boot into mini-pasta, I just get a black screen. I tried both Browserhax and Menuhax but neither work.

I heard this may be the result of a partially failed downgrade but I used the checker and it said my 3ds was fully downgraded.

I got stuck onn the part where it tells me to place the dbs files into the gibberish folder as I have two of those in the Nintendo 3DS folder.

One of the gibberish folders leads to a folder called "exdata" or something like that and the other to the downloaded applications directory.

Where to place the dbs?
Is this guide good or bad? Anything simpler I could use right now?

you cannot inject FBI into emunand on new3ds, you install it into sysnand, backup sysnand then turn that backup into emunand so FBI is already installed

how hard is it to switch to a new SD card after i've done all the emunand shit?

I've already done up to unlinking the NANDS and realized that i'm going to need a bigger sd card, do I have to do the whole process over again or can I just format the new SD card and copy everything over?

I think the only time you should be installing FBI to sysnand is if you're upgrading a 3DS with old firmware up to 9.0/9.2.
