I get that, books in the environment have obviously zero impact on my character. Maybe if I had one in my inventory I'd read it to check if it gives bonuses.

Also, you can go through a game without killing anything in Fallout, Age of Decadence or Underrail, i.e. actually avoiding combat.

You still have to do combat in this game, the only difference is that instead of attacking them you are doing "non-lethal" actions. It makes like zero difference to me since I'm forced to do "combat" one way or the other.

However, non-lethal gives 0 XP and I'd prefer to actually levelup in this game, thank you.

You still get attacked no matter what by most enemies, so it seems clearly that not leveling up (being non-lethal in combat) only makes it harder and the enemies would eventually start one-shotting me which is problematic in a game that doesn't allow you to save at anytime / only at checkpoints.

I would actually be ok with an Ironman mode if I could save anytime instead of having to live in fear thinking when's the next checkpoint.

Thanks for the tip but I already found out better 30 minutes in. I noticed that when I alt tab then my movement key gets stuck (my heart kep going up and up and up in combat). Since it works outside of combat too, I just press up or down and alt tab, and then when I get an encounter warning (since it's impossible to disable music while alt-tabbed) I just alt tab back in.
