>that douchey haircut
Yeah the look on her face when Geralt doesn't fall for her pathetic ploy is great.
Happy new year! Can't wait to spend another year wishing Ciri is real
Look at this magnificent beast I encountered.
Ciri loves Triss as Triss loves Ciri, and always will be her little sister, this was shown in the books.
So if Ciri doesn't call her "sister",either of this happens behind the scenes,or simply calls her by name(Triss), Btw I like it
I don't know why so many people hated on the combat when the game came out. I had a blast with this shit.
This guy is the best.
He's such a heavy presence. Tavern scene is amazing.
Yennefer of Vengerberg I hate her. *with reason*
might be me but i don't like her one bit.
i think she is power hungry little control freak with no respect for anything.
after done some main plots my hate for her grow even more, even start to see why people in general hate sorceress.
so is this just me, or anyone else feels the same way?
>B-but she's only doing it for Ciri and Geralt so that they love her.
>Geralt runs off with Triss
>Ciri doesn't give a fuck about yennefer and is aware that she has some evil plans for her
>Game is hard
eh this king is pretty boss walks in front of everyone in battlefield and doesn't give fucks
what do you have against reddit? at least redditors appreciate certain characters that are hated over here and can look at things objectively. maybe you should go cry about it on your tumblr if it really bothers you so much
Thanks to whoever suggested to level up the double roll distance. It became incredibly handy in the beginning of Chapter II.
Do you folk have any suggestions?
I don't remember what exactly are the last talents, but I remember that I always rushed them because they were good. So try not to upgrade shit twice before you reach the last talents (besides rolling because that's very useful).
Do I let him kill
Henselt or not
ITS NOT FAIR
TRISS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE BEST GIRL
Our future tied together as one we cherish
Your hair beautifully red as a crimson sunset
Our love that will never perish
Since the first time we met
To dream of your sweet smile
Our love knew no bounds
The opposite of vile
From the moment our feelings were found
The white wolf struggling to find warmth
Till the sorceress softened his heart
Their future awaits in the North
And never again were to be apart
To dream of your sweet smile
Our love knew no bounds
The opposite of vile
From the moment our feelings were found
An amnesia linked to a rose of remembrance
Where a friend became something much more
A new love moved forward from the previous ones resemblance
A bond that can’t be tainted at its core
To dream of your sweet smile
Our love knew no bounds
The opposite of vile
From the moment our feelings were found
This chest right here.
Somebody pls I want the cool stuff
But what if little people suffer if I kill Henselt
Now she wants my dick and not my sword
Post images of Geralt's non canon family.
fuck that fake shit, here have the real canon family
ah damn, that sucks. I was on pc and had that quest bug out, reloading somehow fixed it but I'm not sure what else you could do. maybe reloading a save from before you went to Kaer Morhen could fix it, but if it doesn't then you'll just be wasting your time.
and prettier than the other two
I already beat the main game so reloading before I went to Kaer Morhen isn't really viable. I guess my only option is to go ng+.
This is fucking horseshit, is cdpr going to patch this or anything?
>“Never make the same mistake , little witcher-girl,” he murmured, indicating the wagon with his eyes. “If someone shows you compassion, sympathy and dedication, if they surprise you with integrity of character, value it but don’t mistake it for… something else.”
It's a Triss gets pathetic episode.
>“Ah,” Philippa Eilhart was looking not at her but at the witcher, “seventeen, what a beautiful age. Yennefer would give a lot to be that age again. What do you reckon, Geralt? Because I’ll ask her when I get the chance.”
Phil has some mad banter.
I googled and apparently this quest has been buggy since launch so I don't see much hope for a fix, at least not anytime soon. your best bet would probably be NG+ yeah
why is she black?
Uhh, elves sure have a different taste in art. What's up with them anyways? Is it explained in the first game? How did the elf governor know who Geralt was?
That painting was a reference to Picasso, because Elves can travel to other worlds so they may have actually saw one of his galleries.
>How did the elf governor know who Geralt was?
He was the mastermind of all Eredin's plans ya dingus, he was Eredin's trusted Advisor.
There's some interesting discussion here
One comment mentions that cubism was an attempt to portray multiple dimensions on a flat surface.
A long time ago there were two tribes of elves the Aen Elle and the Aen Seidhe. The Aen Seidhe decided to leave and start a new in a different world while the Aen Elle stayed in their world that they recently conquered and enslaved the human population. The Aen Seidhe found their way to the planet where the Witcher series takes place on and became the head honcho race and they build great wonders and cities on the continent. One day the humans arrived on the continent and the elves at first were friendly and even helped them and taught them sorcery, but then humanity started to take over the continent and destroy the elven civilization. The elves being who they are took to long to react so by the time they could have attempted to do something to stop the humans it was already too late. Not all of humanity acted this way to them as the humans in the south instead of forcefully destroying their civilization incorporated it into their own. The Aen Seidhe fled to the edges of the world as went from the superior ace to the persecuted one who just saw their civilization crumble into nothing and they became bitter and angry. Meanwhile the Aen Elle was doing just fine on there world except they had to stop being world conquers and their empire stopped growing due to them losing the power to invade other worlds in large forces. They only had the power to send a force such as the wild hunt through but that was it. They did still mange to get slave labor but it was nowhere near how many they used to get. They planned to use the elder blood to open the gates again and to invade the Witcher planet and to also rescue the Aen Seidhe from the white frost which they found about at one point was going to destroy the witcher planet. At some point in the future in the books we know that the gates are opened by Ciri's child and the Aen Seidhe flee the planet and take all their art and belongings with them. All of this info comes from the books.
Why are Geralt and Yen considered the perfect couple and destined to be together? Their feelings came from a genies wish, they were forced to love each other. Surely this makes Triss the better option who actually has natural feelings for him?
Because their feelings don't go from the djinn's wish. The wish was to simply tie their destines together just like how Geralt's is tied with Ciri's, it was never about love. Geralt and Yen legitimately love each other without the wish but they always had issues of being together due to immaturity and issues that came from their childhood. Geralt had problems expressing himself and staying committed to something due to being raised as a Witcher, Yen was too distant and cold due to the shell she formed to cope and prevent anymore traumatic experiences from happening to her. They matured as people and raising Ciri who was that something more fixed the rest of their issues and allowed for them to have a stable relationship that they longed for but couldn't have. Yen and Geralt are pretty similar as people and she is in a lot of ways like Geralt while still also being different. The wish had nothing to do with their feelings.
Did I fuck this up is this good choice
Ok that makes sense then, I thought the djinns last wish was for them to fall in love.
Cheers for the detailed answer, as much as I'm loving this game they really have a bad habit of assuming you've read and played everything and know every character.
I've only seen 4 translated books, it doesn't look like the 5th one will be translated into English until 2017?
There are five that are translated.
The Last Wish
The Sword of Destiny
Blood of Elves
Times of Contempt
Baptism of Fire
The 6th is coming out this year and the 7th which wraps up the story is coming out in 2017. There is no known release date for the 8th book which serves as a mid sequel to the Last Wish and The Sword of Destiny.
>Their feelings came from a genies
No they didn't. Their feelings came from natural attraction. The characters aren't sure of that, but the reader should be if they payed any attention. Geralt had feelings for her before the wish, though he didn't want to. The same for Yennefer, though the wish cemented it because it was a sacrifice no one had ever made for her before.
>It's an honest question so the truth preferably.
I've read the first 2 books but haven't got round to the other 2 yet.
Here's the problem with "Read the books, faggot" as a response. The books don't help if the person is too stupid or autistic to understand them.
My New Years Resolution was to finally beat Witcher 3. Im about to leave White Orchard now and I've got both Viper School swords and the Warrior's Leather Jacket, uncovered all the question marks, cleared all the Deserter camps, blew up all the Ghoul nests, looted the battlefield, did all the contracts, found a bunch of semi-hidden loot, and killed a bear.
Is there anything I still need to do besides take out the Griffin and GTFO?
Hey, just played through HoS and I have no idea at this point where the gold for the runewright is meant to come from. I've got him the first level, have 12,000 which can be spent on the second, but the third costs 15,000 and I've done all the quests.
What's a good quick and easy way to get gold? I know they've patched a bunch of exploits out, is there any way that isn't total hell to procure another 20,000 or so for my crafting needs?
Done all the main storyline and all of HoS, suspect it might be that I splurged it months ago without thinking I might need the money for anything else. There isn't really anything quest-wise between some sidequests that are too low level to give experience.
So is there any way that won't take hours of toil for no meaningful reward?
The runestones or whatever they're called aren't all that impressive anyway, even with the money I was hesitant to buy them. Just get the base ones. That way you also won't be incredibly OP for Blood and Wine, you're gonna wanna spend as much time as possible in that DLC since it's the last one.
>buy game expecting it to be good
>mfw I fucking hate it
>combat is clunky shit, character movement locked arbitrarily and only budges with rolls, blocking/parrying does nothing half the time, dodging ineffective
>going out in into the world to do side-quests and explore map markers yields power places and nothing else, looted equipment is all throwaway trash, alchemy stuff has little to no effect when it's needed
>only silver sword found in time playing costs a fortune of precious food money to make
>equipment is also level locked because go fuck yourself
>devs forbid grinding by making enemy exp yields basically nothing, only main quest gives good exp, main quest is too fucking hard and can't equip better armor for it because it's level locked
Fuck this no grinding shit I'm going back to fucking White Orchard and killing drowners until I'm level 10.
Alright then. Seems a shame to have him sitting there at level 1, but I guess that'll let me make some neat crafted gear instead.
Also, I'm sitting at level 38 just a hundred xp or so from 39 and being able to equip the viper silver sword. Think I've exhausted all the HoS experience sources though, are there any I'm likely to have missed?
If you've done all the main quests, side quests, contracts, treasure hunts, and question marks then yes, you're done. You'll either have to do more stuff from the base game that offers XP if you haven't already done everything or you'll just have to wait for BaW. You should be right around level 40 if you've done everything there is to do.
>Fuck this no grinding shit I'm going back to fucking White Orchard and killing drowners until I'm level 10.
Doesn't work. Most XP is from the main quest. Maybe it's just not the game for you?
>the game leaves it up to interpretation
Geralt of Rivia, Private Investigator.
>people we've been over this. the game leaves it up to interpretation
No it doesn't. At all. You see it happen in a flashback.
>and a lot of people interpreted it as her simply lying to provoke a reaction from roche.
She didn't tell Roche about it. Geralt figured it out on his own.
Just finished Blood of Elves.
Does it get better?
>holy shit why didnt i read those earlier?
A lot of gamers don't seem to like to read. Go figure.
> Yen > Triss
It's not even a contest really.
Yes. It's one of the weaker books. You didn't skip Sword of Destiny though, did you? That's kind of important.
>No, I'm reading in order.
Just checking. A lot of people skipped by accident due to the English publishing order. If you haven't enjoyed any of them all by this point though I'd just drop it. If it's just Blood of Elves that was disappointing, continue. It's widely considered the worst book in the series. I mean, it was the guy's first novel ever.
How CPU intensive is The Witcher 3? When I built my rig several months back, I hit the top of my budget and had to get a placeholder chip, and still haven't had enough money to get the one I want. I'm running a pretty heavily OC'd FX-4200 and an equally OC'd R9 280
The saga peaks at Times of Contempt but its still good after that.
The Last Wish 9/10
Sword of Destiny 9.5/10
Blood of Elves 7/10
Times of Contempt 9/10
Baptism of fire 7/10
Not going to rate the others due to them being fan translations.
I've done literally every sidequest and I'm at Skellige and kinda burnt right now. Do I have to do sidequests to get the best ending? I don't know what affects any of the endings but I want good things for Ciri.
I'd do that anyway.
There's no mandatory GOOD END sidequests though?
'cause, I mean, love the jarls and their kids and every random fuck who gets mauled by a Drowner, but, you know.
the Roche/Dijkstra quests, quests with Ciri/Yen/Triss and helping Crach's children will affect the ending, you can safely ignore the rest. just be a good dad and you won't get the bad ending.
I was going to do Crach's children anyway and I've done the Roche / Dijkstra stuff (I think they still have to get back with me about the assassination, right?) and Triss' stuff. I'd do Yen / Ciri stuff too anyway because y'know, actual good parts of the game.
Got about 35k from skellige isles smugglers caches. Yeah it was pretty boring but I didn't have anything else to do in the game right now so I figured out that that the cash will come handy in the next dlc
I'm nearly through with alll those Skellige caches and I'm above 50k.
Haven't collected all in Velen/Novigrad, though.
And just started Skellige questline.
I'm wondering at how much I'll end up at the end of the base game.
>Reading the witcher saga
>Tower of swallow
>At the part about a bee keeper in nilfgaard
Geralt hasn't killed a monster or drank a potion in literally 2 books, the last monster was some eyebug he chased off with pots and pans. Kind of tired of this ciri and game of thrones shit when does geralt get back to killing monsters and doing drugs?
It's almost all on the graphics card.
Don't do all the sidequests. The game is far too big for that. The ones that actually affect the plot should be pretty intuitive. Most don't.
>Geralt hasn't killed a monster or drank a potion in literally 2 books, the last monster was some eyebug he chased off with pots and pans. Kind of tired of this ciri and game of thrones shit when does geralt get back to killing monsters and doing drugs?
Never because that was never really what the series was about. TW1 just tricked new people into thinking that.
That's oddly common with people that have been raped. They tend to like simulated rape during sex. Kind of sad really.
>friend only just picked up the game in the sales
>loves it, can't believe he didn't pick it up earlier
>tells me today that he let the spirit in the tree go
Oh fuck me.
reminder that breaking up with yennefer, choosing triss, bringing ciri to emhyr, taking money for her etc are as valid as the rest of the choices. CDPR made them canon by including them in the game.
also, the books and games are separate and you can't use the books to "prove" whether certain choices are canon or not.
Lore - a body of traditions and knowledge on a subject or held by a particular group, typically passed from person to person by word of mouth.
Game Lore stems from Witcher 1, 2 and 3. Excellent job CDprojektRed for creating a beautiful game
Book Lore Stems from Sapkowski work.
Game = evolving plotline, hence the player is free to choose.
Book = predefined plot.
>Trissfags have to render everything meaningless and arbitrary just to feel good about their choices
>Trissfags have to trivialize all the work CDPR put in to adapting the books to feel validated
go bad to /tesg/ or whatever autist hole you came from. There's backstory and characterization in this franchise, not "lore"
>Lore - a body of traditions and knowledge on a subject or held by a particular group, typically passed from person to person by word of mouth.
So this has nothing to do with the books or games. Cool.
>reminder that breaking up with yennefer, choosing triss, bringing ciri to emhyr, taking money for her etc are as valid as the rest of the choices. CDPR made them canon by including them in the game.
You are wrong, CDPR doesn't know shit, you must choose what Yenfags tell you to, otherwise their butt starts hurting.
You joke but it really is like that. I choose Triss because she is already in Witcher 1 and Witcher 2, CDPR added more content and now I am happy with Witcher 3. I don't know why people hate on that choice, I personally don't hate Yennefer I understand she was important to Geralt but I just prefer Triss.
>You joke but it really is like that. I choose Triss because she is already in Witcher 1 and Witcher 2, CDPR added more content and now I am happy with Witcher 3. I share this opinion, just choose what you like and enjoy the game, who cares whether some random person on the internet approves that.
>I don't understand how can you say there is no lore in Witcher?
Lore is only used in this context by nerds who think their 40k fiction and the Elder Scrolls is really deep. You're discussing books here, use the proper terms.
CDPR made a story that favors Yennefer unless you're tone deaf.
Because she's written to be a foil to Yennefer and Geralt and make a statement about the naivete of romantic nationalism.
It's a mystery, especially since it was retconned twice.
The White Frost is nothing like the physical phenomenon of Heat Death.
>I prefer Triss
Fuck off back to Bioware, selfinsertfag. This isn't your dating sim RPG.
>The White Frost is nothing like the physical phenomenon of Heat Death.
I'm going to consider your valid points and accept your explanation of why it's different.
Go fuck yourself.
>CDPR made a story that favors Yennefer unless you're tone deaf.
So what, it makes sense that Yen has a bigger role in the story, I still prefer Triss, and since CDPR gave me a choice, I will take it and pick the option I like more, regardless whether it fits the taste of a random Yenfag.
well said, friend. and by the yenfag logic choosing yen should actually be pointless because TW1 and TW2 already favored Triss so you might as well just go with the love interest that was present throughout the entire trilogy.
>i really love how ciri is lesbian
>i mean cdpr is still sexist garbage but at least they got ciri right
Honestly TW3 is the least sexist RPG I've played.
Heat Death is just a gradual increase in entropy. It has nothing to do with cold in the way the White Frost does, nor is it coming in from another universe. The only similarities they share are they're both vaguely an end to something.
You preferring Triss is evidence that you're a waifufag with bad taste tbqh. I have no problem telling you this despite CDPR giving you the choice, just the same as I'd call anyone that argues the crossbow skills on the tree are great and necessary. Just because the choice is there doesn't make it a good choice.
TW1 and TW2 show Triss in quite a negative light, but waifufags seem selectively blind to that.
>calling me a Yenfag
If understanding the story and characters makes me a Yenfag then, yeah, I'm a yenfag.
>Why is Yen so great? :3
She's well written and acted. She has an interesting character arc and is likeable without resorting to shallow pandering. Although some of that new patched dialogue is a bit meh. Hope they don't do anything more like that.
>and TW2 already favored Triss
Fifteen minutes of screentime, mostly dedicated to how she's lying and manipulating Geralt. Meanwhile Yennefer is introduced at the first opportunity to get the narrative back on track. TW1 had more Triss, and she's even shadier there. It's amazing how Trissfags can twist the story in their heads.
>What exactly did they change?
They didn't change any existing content. Just added new dialogue. Some of it is nice. Some of it is meh. Some of it is outright bad. Especially the incredibly cringey and sappy Triss stuff. Feels really half-assed compared to their usual writing. One of the Yen exchanges is kind of bad too. You can tell why they didn't originally have most of these in the game.
Nah it's just for flavor.
She's not. She's living a happy life.
>She's not. She's living a happy life.
Let's say she is. What is that worth to you, as a consumer?
Go away, O'Dimm.
You know, I really like you. But not right now, please.
I'm trying to make a point here.
Stop your games and leave me be for today.
Look just give me a fiver and I'll go.
You can be real insufferable sometimes, you know that?
Fine, take it and leave.
>that cunt actually bullied geralt into sacrificing his fucking soul for her
how much do you wanna bet she just kept bitching until geralt gave up, rolled his eyes and decided it was easier to just give up his soul so he could get some peace of mind
I didn't have any cash for the vending machine in Gehenna. Thanks, love.
>What happened to the multiple playable characters/stories I remember CDPR talking about?
Well there's Geralt and Ciri so I guess it's technically true? I don't remember anything beyond that.
If he hadn't given his soul Yennefer would have stolen Ciri's. She's the real villain of the series.
It makes the game easier but it's a bit glitchy and unpolished. Probably better to just play vanilla your first time through.
Also be aware TW2 is really intended to be played at least twice. It may grip you more than TW1. The production values are far, far higher for one thing. And the combat is no longer a rhythm game.
Yeah I kept waiting for the option. I wanted to kill her more than Philippa or Radovid desu but it never came up. It has to be sequel bait. I've been waiting to kill Yennefer since I first had Polish pulp magazines containing Last Wish short stories shipped to me from the USSR to America in the late 80's and became a true Witcher fan.
>You preferring Triss is evidence that you're a waifufag with bad taste tbqh.
Yeah, that's the only reason people prefer Triss. Your analogy sucks, and I know this can be hard for you to comprehend, having your head so far up your ass, but just because you think something is a bad choice doesn't make it so.
Just because people choose other options in the game than you do, doesn't mean they don't understand the story or the characters, they simply have different preference. But with your elitist obnoxious attitude I doubt you can understand that. You are very special, congratulations.
>“Heh, if my calculations are correct, that child would have been born in May, sometime around the feast of Belleteyn. If that's true, it's an interesting coincidence . Because Yennefer was also born on Belleteyn's…
Do we know of any other characters birthdays?
struck a nerve huh?
Not that I know of. It's probably some more ~destiny~ crap. Though surely we should know the Lovely Triss's birthday too so the family is complete?
Tbf lots of people don't understand the characters and story and always ask for more hand holding. Not making this up go to the forums that talk about the series and you will know what I mean.
Can't wait for TW4 to not have Triss in it at all so I can think that means all the retards will go away just to be disappointed when the waifufags just find a different character to latch on to desu
We get that here, too.
I hope CDPR ignores them. I like having a video game series that doesn't assume you're an idiot for once, that has lots of subtle things going on in the background you have to figure out yourself. Even Obsidian tends towards big exposition dumps.
>Can't wait for TW4 to not have Triss in it at all so I can think that means all the retards will go away just to be disappointed when the waifufags just find a different character to latch on to desu
You really think that CDPR will do that after all the complaining about Triss, the only way for Triss not to be in TW4 is if Geralt and Yen are also absent.
>You really think that CDPR will do that after all the complaining about Triss,
Yes. They barely did anything even after all the complaining. Just hastily threw together some crappy romance dialogue and called it a day. If this kind of thing bothered them much they'd have hastily shoved Iorveth and Saskia into one of the two expansions even if their presence doesn't make sense in them. (Still hoping for an Enhanced Edition though. It would suck to leave them out forever)
>the only way for Triss not to be in TW4 is if Geralt and Yen are also absent.
I doubt they'll be in it very much either. At least Geralt won't be. They said his story is done. Yennefer maybe a bit as a mentor/tutorial thing along the lines of Vesemir in TW3?
>It's going to be a prequel that takes place in the golden age of witchering.
MMO where you compete with other players for witcher contracts.
There are no teams and if someone takes the same contract as you, you can kill him, while he's trying to finish it.
Imagine the butthurt.
>There are no teams and if someone takes the same contract as you, you can kill him, while he's trying to finish it.
>Imagine the butthurt.
That would almost make the inherent shittyness of most MMOs worth it. Almost.
>Yes. They barely did anything even after all the complaining. Just hastily threw together some crappy romance dialogue and called it a day.
I disagree here, they caved in to the demands of Triss fanatics, and gave them pretty much what most wanted in the first place, cheesy romance content. Sure, it is not that much content but it sets a precedent and remains the only story related complaint CDPR addressed.
There's a difference between acknowledging they half-assed Triss's side of things (I didn't care myself, but let's face it, it was) and patching in some lazy dialogue and working the entire plot of another game out so her presence somehow makes sense. I mean what more can they even do with her? It would be as pointless as bringing Geralt back.
>and remains the only story related complaint CDPR addressed.
I dunno. There were complaints that Eredin wasn't a very well realized antagonist and in Hearts of Stone they gave us a very memorable one. Besides, I still think an Enhanced Edition may yet happen.
You know that is what they most likely will do and this way they don't have to worry about anything from the third game. They will have it set in like 1180 and probably include cameos of young Geralt and maybe even young Yen.
>You know that is what they most likely will do
Nah, I think a Ciri sequel seems more likely and natural.
>and this way they don't have to worry about anything from the third game.
Why should they? They have no problem just making stuff canon when they want. See TW1 to TW2 transition.
>They will have it set in like 1180 and probably include cameos of young Geralt and maybe even young Yen.
I would cringe so hard.
Well if they ever decide do a sequel with Geralt, I really doubt that Yen and Triss won't be there.
>I dunno. There were complaints that Eredin wasn't a very well realized antagonist and in Hearts of Stone they gave us a very memorable one.
The fact that Gaunter was a great antagonist, doesn't change the fact that Eredin remains a walking 5 sentence cliche. I also hope for EE, but the fact remains that CDPR ignored Eredin complaints, Iorveth and Saskia, complaints about a rushed third act, and some other story complaints and decided that "Triss issue" is the only one worth "fixing".
Anyone else get the feeling CDPR didn't actually expect very many people to choose Triss? Or is it just me?
>Well if they ever decide do a sequel with Geralt,
They've specifically said no Geralt sequel ever.
>Well if they ever decide do a sequel with Geralt, I really doubt that Yen and Triss won't be there.
They're not going to do any more Geralt games.
>and decided that "Triss issue" is the only one worth "fixing".
It was by far the easiest to "fix". None of the things you've talked about could be done on a quick patch while working on expansion. Each requires story reworks to a greater or lesser degree.
Why do you have so little faith in them?
>You're probably right which means why even put the Triss romance in the game if they were going to put little effort into it?
I guess they thought it would be weird not to give someone that choice given all the other choices but didn't seriously expect it to be most peoples' first choice. Overestimated their audience again. Then when they saw a ton of people picking it they realized they had to flesh it out a bit more or look bad.
>They've specifically said no Geralt sequel ever.
I know, but that was before the big success TW3 had, so who knows. I would personally preferred if Geralt remains the lead, even if I have to put up with moar Triss in the process.
>I know, but that was before the big success TW3 had, so who knows.
I doubt they're under the illusion that Geralt's character and Doug Cockles voice is the primary reason behind the success of the games. There's dry sarcastic gruff voiced protagonists all over the place, and while there's more to his character than that, people that just got TW3 are unlikely to appreciate it.
>I would personally preferred if Geralt remains the lead, even if I have to put up with moar Triss in the process.
Why? His character is completely played out. I like Geralt but damn it, I'm getting bored of him. There's nothing new to explore with him.
She's too overpowered in the lore.
Why not allow players to create their own witcher this time? Say that the remaining witchers from all schools united and started creating new witchers. You're one of them.
>Because they have talked about CaC before
Not at any length.
>and setting a game before Geralt was witchering in the 1200s would be their ideal time to have a game like that take place.
If the only thing the Witcher was about was hunting monsters, sure. Back when monsters were all over the place there wasn't time for a lot of politics, and a generic player generated PC has little to work with in terms of backstory, personality, character conflicts and alliances, etc. It'd be throwing away tons of potential and everything that makes them unique as a developer.
It would also cause them to completely abandon all the setup they did for a future Ciri game. Not to mention one the reasons people say the love the Witcher is the fact that it has an actual character with a story.
>She's too overpowered in the lore.
No she's not. She gets in serious trouble plenty in both the books and the games. Besides, this shit gets fudged for game mechanics all the time.
>fight a fucking dragon at the end of TW2
>Geralt can easily get ass raped by three drowners in TW3
I cringe every time. Do you read anything that isn't associated with a video game.
>Why not allow players to create their own witcher this time?
Because player created characters are always boring and cardboard. Every single time. And there's plenty of other games that offer that. Only one company is doing this with this kind of RPG.
I wasn't talking about monster hunting. When I said Geralt witchering I meant him wondering around and getting involved in events and there has always been lots of politics in the witcherverse.
>Say that the remaining witchers from all schools united and started creating new witchers. You're one of them.
This is horrible. The Witcher 4: Dark Empire level writing. Did you pay attention to anything in the games at all? The process is horrible, most of the Witchers wouldn't want to make any more, even if they knew the way. And they don't.
You know that CDPR had their own waifu wars during the development, right?
Marcin Blacha (the lead writer) and Konrad Tomaszkiewicz (TW3 director) wanted Yen to be the only romance in TW3, but Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz (Konrad's brother and the lead quest designer) is a huge trissfag who basically created the game Triss and he didn't agree to that, so they ended up compromising.
Source for all this or did you get it from your uncle that works at CDPR?
>who basically created the game Triss
Was he even on staff for TW1?
>implying game Triss isn't book Triss, warts and all
>look this up
>He's only credited as lead quest designer for TW3
>Worked on TW2 as one of many regular quest designers
>Didn't work on TW1
Yeah nah I'm skeptical of your claims.
>has a sociology degree
Well he might be a Trissfag then. Yen is STEM and a UKIP voter after all.
Sure it's horrible but there's still a ton of monsters, probably much more than there used to be with most of the witchers gone. Sure it's terrible what they have to do to them, but it might be necessary in the future.
>No she's not.
Yes, she is. By the end of the game she is literally slaughtering entire squads of Aen Elle elitre soldiers. Imagine how much weaker she would suddenly have to actually be threatened in any way by something like a group of bandits. It would not make any sense. It would be a completely different level than making Geralt weaker in each game.
>Because player created characters are always boring and cardboard.
Sure but you can't do 10 Geralt games, and as I said, Ciri is simply way too strong.
>I cringe every time. Do you read anything that isn't associated with a video game.
Her current power level is that at the end of TW3. What does it matter how strong she was in the books at this point? Unless they do a prequel.
>Sure it's horrible but there's still a ton of monsters, probably much more than there used to be with most of the witchers gone.
Actually there are way, way less. The only reason you see more in the games is the huge war and because it would be boring otherwise. Geralt being poor and having trouble finding work tends to come up. The only reason there'd be more is if that little brief mini-Conjunction at the end of TW3 brought more in.
>probably much more than there used to be with most of the witchers gone.
You don't have to be a witcher to hunt monsters. Most monster hunters aren't. Spells and gadgets are just as effective, if not moreso.
>Sure it's terrible what they have to do to them, but it might be necessary in the future.
It's not without major rewrites. Hell, mages alone can take out monsters quite efficiently.
>Yes, she is. By the end of the game she is literally slaughtering entire squads of Aen Elle elitre soldiers.
So is Geralt. And doing that took a bunch of time for her to "charge up" as it were. You can find her doing that at camp. They can also just, y'know, ignore it, as game tend to do and absolutely no one complains about.
>Imagine how much weaker she would suddenly have to actually be threatened in any way by something like a group of bandits. It would not make any sense. It would be a completely different level than making Geralt weaker in each game.
Here I'll address this the way you addressed my arguments: Nuh-uh.
>Sure but you can't do 10 Geralt games, and as I said, Ciri is simply way too strong.
You're wrong about that, but even if you weren't the choices aren't Geral, Ciri, or CAC. They could always just make a new, pre-written character entirely if they wanted, or pick another existing one.
Read a fucking book.
>What does it matter how strong she was in the books at this point?
They could also just say "White Frost damaged her abilities" but that's not really necessary
Fuck you, I worked hard on Dark Empire. It has poteinal to he the greatest Witcher game of all time.
Not him and what he said is probably bullshit but I do know Konrad is a Yenfag.
>I cringe every time. Do you read anything that isn't associated with a video game.
>Her current power level is that at the end of TW3. What does it matter how strong she was in the books at this point?
So that's a no then.
What does Yen have a degree in?
>Ciri is simply way too strong.
They could have her lose her powers as part of the plot, they could implement a different levelling scheme, there are thousands of different ways for adjusting things for a game. It's not really that difficult of a thing to do.
>Not him and what he said is probably bullshit but I do know Konrad is a Yenfag.
I would assume the lead director and writer thought Yennefer was important and likeable what with her being a main character and all. If that makes them Yenfags then ok yeah that's probably true.
>What does Yen have a degree in?
PHD in Magitech.
Yen loves geralt - yes. But she's as toxic as their relationship. In the game she is a bitch.
In the game triss is just too cute to turn down, and its obvious to me that she loves him.
>tfw no option to smack Yennefer when she speaks out of turn
Those lips were made for sucking cock, not making words. Bitch needs to learn her place.
what if instead of a ballad Triss sang a cute romantic song with Geralt like in my favorite DLC for Mass Effect? :3
>responding to bait seriously
>implying their relationship is still "toxic" at this point
>implying they hadn't worked their issues out years ago
Anon...really. Not helping. She doesn't even treat him badly in the game. Neither does Geralt treat her poorly for the most part, unless the player chooses to.
LMAO, please. You can feel the real actual affection and interest from Triss. Triss is the one who truly loves Geralt. It took me 10 seconds of meeting Yen to realize she was a massive bitch.
>It took me 10 seconds of meeting Yen to realize she was a massive bitch.
>tfw there are seriously people that get BTFO by "Excuses, excuses..."
Bet it's the same ones that get butthurt about that "You're just a witcher" line from Ciri in the end.
Eskel is pretty boring yeah
There should be red and blue prompts to differentiate the options during dialogue. Whenever Yen is around blue option would be "Where's Triss?" red option would be "[slap Yen]".
Maybe call them something cool too, like Champion vs. Maverick or something. I think it would make the roleplaying experience better and easier to understand. Really let players make Geralt theirs.
>I wish you end up with someone like Yen in real life. You'll have a blast.
Why are you doing him favors? It's hard to find a Yen. You can pick up a Triss in any university on the western hemisphere.
>There should be red and blue prompts to differentiate the options during dialogue. Whenever Yen is around blue option would be "Where's Triss?" red option would be "[slap Yen]".
And every time the player refuses to slap Yen, he should get a toxicity bonus and negative exp points.
>omg yes! :3
Then they could go to another party together :3 But it is crashed by Yen! Can Geralt and Triss stop her before she embarrasses herself and ruins the party?
I like your ideas. We should start a design doc
>cunts like Yennefer are abusive individuals who should be locked up
>tfw you can't even tell the memes from reality anymore
What evil is she planning in this pic, you think?
Real talk: Anyone that thinks Yennefer is a bitch to Geralt in TW3 would break into tears and likely resort to suicide if they ever had an argument with their SO in real life. Yen in TW3 is tame as fuck, especially given the circumstances.
>I like your ideas. We should start a design doc
As long as we agree that Triss is a perfect angel, that is crapping ice cream and pissing holy water, while Yen is a vile hag that is sucking the life out of poor Geralt.
If it was guaranteed to work, Witcher. A threesome is great but greatly extended lifespan is better.
>As long as we agree that Triss is a perfect angel, that is crapping ice cream and pissing holy water, while Yen is a vile hag that is sucking the life out of poor Geralt.
This is literally canon, if you read the books you will see Triss sacrificing everything in war like at Sodden Hill and Yennefer is literally an ancient hunchback disguising herself with magic that only cares about money.
Based CDPR making self inserters cry with every game. Really though, it's hilarious that people interpreted that as an actual jab instead of a loving joke about how Geralt presents himself from someone that knows him well.
>How to seize the Temerian crown.
She'd probably do a better job than Foltest honestly.
>This is literally canon, if you read the books you will see Triss sacrificing everything in war like at Sodden Hill and Yennefer is literally an ancient hunchback disguising herself with magic that only cares about money.
This is true, I read them books and Yen sure is a foul whore in them. Triss on the other hand only ever helps Geralt, she is the real hero of them books I tell you.
Triss Oh Triss, if tomorrow is to be my death
Then let me kiss you with my last breath
The flower blooms,rose of remembrance
Leave the swamps and forests, and come Your Excellence
Treat you as my princess, Im Sorry i ever left Please your forgiveness
What a glorious day, When our hearts danced together and i can say
I love you triss with out a doubt
Under the beacon of a lighthouse
>People seem to forget that Triss was Ciri's first Mother figure after the fall of Cintra, she's incredibly close to Triss too.
Yes she was Geralt's first choice in the books, he only went to Yen as a last resort because Triss had many other important duties.
I actually read the original manuscripts before Sapkowski sent them to his publisher and Triss was Geralt's main love interest in them before they made him change it. Don't let wikifags tell you otherwise.
>Triss Oh Triss, if tomorrow is to be my death
>Then let me kiss you with my last breath

I cried a little. Triss is a saint for forgiving all the things Geralt did to her.
I miss the alternate game overs like in TW2. Imagine if you could lose the battle at Kaer Morhen based on your choices, get shot by Dijkstra or Emhyr's men, or hell, even just flash to Ciri being captured by Eredin if you actually refuse to help Yennefer at Skellige or something.
I hope Cyberpunk 2077's player character is the girl from the trailer and her only options for love interests are men so the waifufags will lose interest. The only problem with husbandofags is writing a bunch of cringey fanfiction because they're usually women, and for some reason most fanfiction writers are women, but as long as I avoid the official sites or places that fanfiction is usually posted I won't have to fuck with it.
