Why did you guys fellate this game for the past 5 years? It's a 6/10 at BEST.
Show me another game where you can climb on monsters and hit them in the head.
You can't. Also Shadow of The Colossus doesn't count since it's all about climbing the titular colossi.
I started the fight...and got owned by those tentacles.
Restarted from last checkpoint and I'm considering going back to grind some more and upgrade my equipment.
How do you change classes to a more advanced one? After you max level your vocation levels?
If so, then I have three more vocations to fill up.
>see that monster? you can climb it
This is the most fucking overhyped aspect of the game, I don't know why DDfags love circlejerking over being able to jump onto an enemy and spam the attack button until you fall off. Fortunately the combat actually does have more to offer than this
This game is like an MMO in every aspect except for combat which is still bad
It's so lifeless
I mean, people can like whatever they want and DD has good combat, I give you that, but I can't force myself to play it because it's just so boring and lifeless
OpenWorld RPGs need a bit of Morrowindian feel to them for me to like them
No you don't. The combat in TW3 might as well be mash x.
There are nuances in Dragon's Dogma that you're clearly not comprehending, or you just have shit taste. You have the ability to climb and grab from the get-go, and 6 equipped abilities. Start using them.
The Witcher 3 literally has passives and that's about it.
In other words you didn't give it a chance, because otherwise you'd actually be giving reasons.
"Feel" is too abstract. It isn't quantifiable. You're making excuses for your lack of effort.
>fighting first cyclop outside the outpost at the beginning
>climb on it
>it falls down
>literally snuggle against his leg whacking away at it with my dagger
>still grabbing his leg as the cyclop keeps falling down and getting back up multiple times during the fight
>mashing one button
Boring as fuck
the only difference between morrowind and today's "rpg" open werld is how long you need to obtain op power and how much instruction the game give you.
nobody care about kirkbride's autism.
high budget new vegas should be the standard.
Dragon's Dogma defense force on suicide watch, kek. This is what they get for shilling the game too hard and being overly defensive instead of admitting it has flaws
That said the game ends up being pretty good once you unlock all your abilities, the early game is boring and the worst part.
Yes, yes it is.
A game is something you choose to play, and you also need to choose to enjoy it.
If you go into a class voluntarily, and don't listen voluntarily, it's not the teacher's fault you didn't learn anything.
You're a moron.
It is though, you can cheese literally every game ever made and it'll be boring as shit, if the game gives you a ton options and you don't use any it's your fault for being retarded, not the games fault
>spend weeks shilling the game with daily threads on /v/
>all rendered completely pointless now that people have actually tried the game and are refunding in droves
DDfags B T F O
DD2 never EVER
There is a difference between finding a cheesy way to win a fight and literally playing the game as it is intended (it literally tells you to climb on bosses) with the easiest and most immediate combination of keypresses having the most rewarding result.
>has some really neat atmosphere
It's probably one of the blanded game I've ever played. Everything is dull as fuck. the only parts where I felt a strong atmosphere were Bitterblack Isle and maybe Post-game (but post-game is like another shade of bland).
It's actually what I hate the most about this game, there is no much environmental detail and the open world design is so shit that most of it feels soulless.
Great example of an overly defensive DDtard right here
it's not like you can do anything else at that point in that game except either hack away at its legs or jump on it and mash the attack button. Or shoot it repeatedly with 50 arrows. DD"s early game is boring as fuck
Great example of someone with unwarranted self importance who values their opinions too much.
If you don't have any will to have fun, you won't. Simple as that. Maybe you should go back to Skyrim where the map tells you exactly where to go, and there's only 1 button to press.
You seem dumb enough to enjoy that.
This is literally done in every bland fantasy setting RPG out there. From baldur's gate to the witcher to dragon age they all have that shit and it's always the same. This isn't anything new, except this game manages to look even more generic.
Where in my post I said the game was boring? I only said that the atmosphere and world design isn't where it shines. The game's still enjoyable because of its gameplay and Bitterblack Isle alone made a 8/10 what should have been a 5/10
>Giant griffins come down from the sky and strike you with sonic waves.
>Harpies swoop in and drop you from 80 feet in the sky.
Shit like this x1000 happens in Asura's Wrath yet it's the most boring game I've ever played, don't use epicness as an argument.
>Maybe you should go back to Skyrim where the map tells you exactly where to go
This isn't a very good rebuttal considering this game does exactly that and even more with your pawns constantly telling you "hey maybe you should go X" or "let's check Y for this quest!" over and over and over again.
Baldur's game is an isometric view...it literally can't happen, so objectively wrong.
Dragon Age also doesn't have this because it's grounded and doesn't have anywhere near the scale of Dragon's Dogma.
Your opinion isn't even valid.
>baldur's gate has no ambushes
>dragon age has no ambushes
Yeah you're fucking retarded, considering 90% of Dragon Age 2 (which is a fucking shit game) is literally enemies dropping from the sky in front of you.
Asura's Wrath isn't something you play, Dragon's Dogma is.
I'm assuming you don't know the difference because you're stupid.
Obviously it isn't, if morons like you can enjoy Skyrim but have trouble in Dogma.
Once again, you're not catered to enough so obviously the game must suck, right? Remember, if you can't just hit "attack" and have fun it must suck!
It's not about ambushes, it's about dynamic gameplay and situations.
How dumb are you to think "Here's a bear" is the same as being picked up by a goddamn harpy and having to struggle free, hoping a pawn catches you?
Asura's Wrath IS something you play retard.
inb4 muh QTE isn't gameplay
The two scripted events you described have no gameplay in them. One is a stun on the players with a 5 seconds animation lock, the other has you moving the left stick as fast as possible (basically... a QTE!) to get out of the harpie grip. So much gameplay compared to Asura?
Get fucked if you can't admit your precious underrated gem has flaws. There is a reason why it's underrated in the first place you cuck.
Holy shit this DDtard butthurt is amazing. Finally they can learn their place as fans of a mediocre shitty game, like the SoTC fans and Witcher fans.
We fucking did it bros. Souls games will always be GOAT.
>Comparing a movie to a video game.
Lol, keep trying.
>PCucks finally get a mediocre game from five years ago
>"IT'S THE BEST GAME EVER GUYS YOU JUST DON'T LIKE IT BECAUSE YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND IT LIKE I DO! NOW LOOK AT ALL MY DRAGON'S DOGMA SPELL AND CHARGED ATTACK WEBMS AND TELL ME THAT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE FUN! I'M LIKE GUTS FROM THAT ANIME BERSERK"
>never cared about this game
>everybody on /v/ calls it the best game ever
>pirate it to see if it's actually worth buying
>port is 10/10
>the game, however, is boring, bland, outdated and a snoozefest
Yeah I don't think I'll be buying it. No buyer's remorse this way, thank god I didn't listen to fucking /v/ shills.
He's complaining that the game's early combat is mashy and simplistic (which it is, but it gets better later on). Why do you keep mentioning Skyrim, which is even more simplistic? Is that the only other game you've ever played? If Skyrim is your only point of comparison, that explains why DDfags think Dragon's Dogma is a 10/10. You shouldn't have to compare something to a pile of shit just to make it look good.
eh im glad i was on /ddg/ during its last few good months, before ddo. the pc/console shitposting is going to be insane. i wonder how much "artificial difficulty" posting will happen when people get to bitter black isle
>"omg i pirate gayme how i kill big ogre?????"
is it gotten eny better? Furious pedro not like it.
Shitposts aside, I just got to that dungeon in the pawns guild and everything there takes so long to kill. Started as strider and now I'm a ranger. How come my attacks hardly do any damage to the zombies down there? It takes so many hits to bring one down. Am I doing something wrong?
Who gives a fuck about Hysterical Joe?
It's rough around the edges and obviously unfinished, but there's something really lovable deep down inside there. It also helps that the halfway point and endings are all really really cool.
They have an added investment in this game because they fell for the Capcom marketing ploy that good PC sales will result in a sequel (will never happen, only dumb DDtards would fall for this shit). It's great bros
/v/'s fandom of Dragon's Dogma is one pretty good example of how memetic and retarded the SHILL accusations get. It's a game that has a genuine following here and the /ddg/s were full of people having fun and shit. The word "shill" has basically lost all meaning at this point.
Oh shut the fuck up, I never cared about this game but everytime I saw any mention to it in the last few months it was always praise how awesome and better it is compared to any other game.
All we can hope is that some other game releases that pulls all these robot memers out of the dd threads so we can have some actually ok threads instead of these le ebin trollers and the idiots who actually bother responding to them.
>people's reactions reading this thread
Well I have been playing and this is Gold! The Chimera fight at the start was on it's own better and more exciting than the majority of the Witcher 3.
I am going for Mystic Knight I think, any tips or things I need to know? Can you get better gear early on or is that dripped in as you level up.
Also the character customisation. Took me at least 2 hours before I was satisfied. Even now I am thinking of starting again.
Which has absolutely nothing to do with real shilling, thanks for proving my point. How many fans actually rate it 10/10 by the way? General idea I get is that it's a 6-8/10 game that has been a major time sink for a lot of people. Busy as fuck this week anyway so just waiting on the legit copy.
So I need to know how this works. Do I have to play as those classes to unlock the Augments first? Also what pawns compliment MK playstyle? I was thinking a healer for my main pawn.
>killing shit gives you points to spend on augments and learning new attacks
>your level in that class determines what augments you can get, the higher, the more you have access to, best augments and abilities obviously require being max level in that class
>gaining an overall level while playing as a class will increase your stats based on what class you were, ie rangers gain the most stamina, warriors gain the most health, fighters gain stats about evenly but leaning towards defense, etc
My roommate is like this. If you ever suggest a game, he'll try it and find excuse to quit, even if it's right up his alley. The only way he sticks with games is if he was hyped on his own. He's got a very close minded attitude
I look forward to future combat discussion threads.
DDfags will no longer get away with praising their combat to the high heavens because "muh itsuno" while calling every other game's combat shit, and posting webms to impress PCfags who never played it.
It's over for you
>I am going for Mystic Knight I think, any tips or things I need to know?
Go balanced, make sure not to skimp on either your physical or magic stats. Level Sorc for a while for Magick and Assassin for a while for Attack. Look through the Augments on the Wiki and see what you like. Learn perfect blocking with your elemental shield abilities. The trap glyph spells (forget the name) are good.
>What you said is literally false
> DD following on /v/ is an example of a genuine, non-shilling fan following.
Literally false? oh, thank god all the threads praising DD were a hallucination dude!
Now I finally get to try the game and it's a 6/10 and you are on maximum damage control saying on /v/ the DD fanbase is genuine non-shilling.
>You're 0 for 2 so far.
Hahahaha Ok, disregard all I said, you're just a retard.
>(forget the name)
>can't stop thinking about the name
Hidden penis jokes aside. How long will this take on average to achieve? Leveling within loads of separate roles sounds like it will require heavy grinding.
Why did you guys fellate this game for the past 5 years? It's a 6/10 at BEST.
He got trips of truth fag, did you get trips? Didn't think so.
Mystic knight is great just magic cannon your way to victory and become the bullet hell for goblins.
Gear is done 2 ways. By location and story progression some merchants sell select shit only they have. Raising their affinity will also unlock other shit.
Don't you'll get an item that lets you change once. Later on you'll get one that lets you do it whenever the fuck you want.
Is there any fast travel in this piece of shit? I'm already tired of backtracking over and over between towns and all these fucking fetch and deliver quests with repeated "random" encounters spawning at the same fucking places every time.
Praising it for what it is, not the best game ever as you explicitly said, and if you had bothered to see the old threads, long before the PC version was announced to shill, you would have seen the fandom is genuine. Shitposters are rolling out as much bullshit as they can then calling others butthurt and unreasonable. It's hilarious.
Doesn't really matter so long as you level Sorc for MAG eventually. Might as well start as Fighter and practice your perfect blocks early then. Just play what's fun for god's sake.
Mage, into sorcerer and then into MK. If you only want to use mace/sword, then ya Magic Cannon is your go to thing, but you have other cool spells too. MK is easily one of the coolest classes in any game.
>leaving gran soren
>about 500 feet down the road theres a caravan getting shit on by goblins
>run up and start helping them
>not 2 seconds later a fucking griffon lands and fucks everything up
>me and my squad jump on that bitch and beat it with everything we got
>gets down to last bar of health
>killing bandits left and right
>bandit in light armor shows up
>is immune to stun and flinching and takes at least 10 times more hits than a normal bandit to die
>kills me in one combo from full hp
You just want to go full battle cleric or something? Warrior has augmentations that help with strength as does Fighter.
I don't want to spoil the fun of MK but you will get some neat shit outside of MC but MC is a good way to close range on fast and far targets.
>there are higher level bandits around and the game doesn't hold your hand if you start venturing into more dangerous areas
Are consolefags genuinely better players than PCucks?
It's kinda bullshit, considering the other bandits around him die in a few hits. I'm not really sure why they even put weak enemies near that one if you weren't intended to go that way yet. But, at least you can outrun him.
Griffons are assholes. Burn them all.
>your large pawn grabs one cyclops leg
>cyclops tries to shake him off by balancing on one leg and kicking the other
>NOW ARISEN STRIKE THE OTHER LEG
>slash the one balancing leg
>the cyclops actually falls over
I'm sorry you have no imagination and don't have to make useful pawns.
There's two ways to get there. One way is through a tunnel/quarry near the woods outside Gran Soren, and the other is going passed the bandit fort and forest in the southwest part of the map.
You can go to the wiki for a full map, so you'll be able to know where certain things are early-game.
>progress is slow but steady
>quickly jumps to almost finished and stops
>hasn't done anything for about ten minutes
>clearly doing something because it is using my cpu
oh god this is that buttcoin miner you fags were talking about isn't it
One of my favorite moments was in BBI
It was in Forgotten City 2.0. I'm sure some of the anons who know about that area understand how satisfying it feels to clear for the first time.
Fuck living armors. Fuck them to hell to back.
>start playing the game
>use sword and shield because I'm an old fashioned faggot
>move on to two handers
>having a fucking blast
My only issue so far was running into a dragon and he absolutely stomped my shit. He kept saying to face him too whenever I tried running ;_;
those shield assholes are literally invincible
DD's main problem is that the enemies don't really change over the course of the game, you basically always fight the same crap.
The climbing is also pretty barebones and means fighting large enemies as melee characters is pretty boring.
He two shots me and took like zero damage and I was surrounded by hopgoblins. I was having a bad time.
I thought it was a very nice touch though. Much better than NEVER SHOULDA COME HERE
I considered saying this in numerous threads but honestly you learn just like everyone to never trust /v/. This board doesn't like truly good games because truly good games get mainstream. The edgelord contrarians here are only willing to praise mediocre broken games with unfulfilled promise.
Honestly it's better than a few years ago when all anyone did was project onto games like STALKER.
Basically, this. The core gameplay is great, but you can tell Capcom really gimped it by not letting the devs achieve their actual goals.
Which is insane as I've played it for over 500 hours now between PS3 and PC and I just want more.
Actually it's the Dark Souls of Fantasy RPGs.
Stop with the excuses.
If you're playing Fighter, use your shield.
If you're playing Strider, Dodge Roll or use your bow.
If you're playing Mage, get to a safe distance and/or a safespot and snipe them with Levin.
>even everfall is way more than fun than anything in the main quest
Everfall was just repetitive shit with the same copypasted rooms for the sake of grinding those stones or whatever
>Also go and hunt goblins by taking the quest in your home village.
I didn't find a quest like that, I did the well quest though where you kill lizardmen
And I don't have charge man
I'm strider but I don't have dodge roll and the bow is worthless p much
He just turns around instantly and 1 hit combo fucks me
my pawns get fucked instantly too
Honestly, just say this bandit is like lv30 or something
>killed hydra at the start and need to travel with its head to the capital
>went to starting town and talked to some girl on the pier
>suddenly on some island
>oh I can change vocation, sweet
>change vocation to wield 2-handed xboxhueg sword
>don't have that sword
>traders don't sell it
>now I can't equip my normal sword and shield+my pawn doesn't have a sorcerer's staf for her new vocation
>bare hands on me and my loli mage pawn
>fuck it let's do this
>start the quest
>punch fucking harpies, wolves, goblins and bandits with my fucking bare fists
>fuck everyone's shit up
>mfw I survived and delivered the hydra's head
but I dont want to be guts
I play as my ideal version of myself
They actually had to remove some stuff because of license issues, so the only reason to buy it I guess is that if you want to replay it at 60 fps if that's a big deal to you and for the hope of future mods.
How the fuck am I supposed to escape those red tentacles if my fucking pawns keep getting tagged down by them?
Unfortunately hurting people in Gran Soren gets you thrown in the dungeon.
For example, I'd really like to kill Feste, but you can't. It's the biggest flaw in the game, in my opinion.
60 FPS, slightly better textures, all the DLC. Up to you if you think playing it in 60 FPS is worth it. I've been having loads of fun casting muh huge spells and not going down to single frames.
Oh look, it's the "ITS POPULAR SO IT'S SHIT" shitposters again!
Got tired of Undertale and Witcher 3 already?
Dude, just run past them. You don't need to fight anyone you dont want to. haha, I can't believe all these people recommending going head-to-head with him, he's a known player-killer early on.
Non-shit FPS mayn
TIS A GRAND TREE!
>group walks closer to the tree
TIS EVEN GRANDER UP CLOSE!
lol what a fag you are then.
Pawns are immortal dude. You can always just resummon then. It's YOUR ASS that's important.
>tfw chamber of fate
My anus did not see that coming.
>warrior only gets 3 skills
Man, that really puts a damper on things.
I think he may be a legit dwarf or something. He's literally child-like in height, yet sports a beard and has a job.
Yep, that's why nobody but masochists like warrior. You can try to pray to the seneschal to grant us a mod to up that to 6, but it's unlikely to happen.
That's even worse, like you're not admitting to your flaws even. Awful.
But you go dude, it's not like anyone else will be affected by this most horrible of choices.
MK is good, but a bit boring (since you have to rebuff so often)
sorc is also good, but prepare your butt for long casting times.
If you want something that's close to fighter, but better, go assassin.
Warrior has an amazing augment that gives you like 20% extra damage. Recommended to get.
MA is all kind of crazy, you can try that too.
That's not the point though. It's just boring to have less options. I mean, compare with fucking assassin, he gets:
It's just NOT fair. There is exactly ZERO reason for it to be like this. warrior wouldn't be OP at all with 6 skills at a time.
I love the game, but I'll stop playing and get back to it after the official release.
Playing on hard mode, just got to Gran Soren and my Mystic Knight is already looking like a fucking badass, but the 2 random pawns kinda detract from the experience.
Nigga, I know I don't NEED them, but I'm getting bored by the lack of combo flair. Bouncing bitches into the sky is fun and all but everything else gets a little boring to watch after a while. Want as much options as everyone else.
Consolefags wouldnt know a good game if it raped their mother.
Whats happened here is the pathetic console horde has hyped up their 6/10 game because it was one of their exclusives. They will do anything to appear to have even the crumbs of an arguement to defend their shitty babby boxes.
Hm? I don't even argue for going Guts, I'm just hating on your stupid-ass self-insert plan. It's just obnoxious.
But again, go ahead, it literally won't affect anyone else. Why would my opinion hold any weight?
IT SEEMS ALL ROADS LEAD TO GRAN SOREN
What the fuck is that supposed to mean?
Man you reminded me that I drew this at some point for a drawthread.
the west and east have different ideals
there is a reason why the east has so much of their media focusing on pretty characters
while the west focus on realistic relatable characters
Im not from the west so its a misunderstanding here
>new warrior skills
Are you retarded? We're just asking for 3 more from the pool of skills that are already in the game.
You seem to forget that OTHER CLASSES CAN ACTUALLY ALSO USE THEIR NORMAL ATTACKS
You can even use the warrior augments to boost sorc's attacks. In fact, it if pretty much the best way to go.
Oh right. Yeah, there's nothing stopping you, gender doesn't matter at all in DD. There are only like two lolis you can romance though, your pawns aren't attainable. Go for either the obnoxious brat in red in the capital, or the QT witch in the woods.
I'm really liking the animation anon, great work!
I just want more shit to do, normal attacks are just a 3 hit light attack and a poke heavy attack with a jumping bump and a jumping smash. Shit gets boring, having more attacks doesn't mean the warrior does more damage.
You were fooled by /v/ the game is shit and I will explain why:
>No indication of where roads lead
>No hint to what enemies are weak to
>No hint of when enemies are alone or in groups
>No warning to avoid status effects
>No clue to which items are masterworks
I don't know how people defend this game.
I enjoy both ragged, ugly characters AND pretty characters. I just don't like people who make themselves in video games. That being said, you seem like an otherwise reasonable guy. Please ignore my opinion and do what you want. Seriously, I'm just pulling your leg here.
You are SCREWED SO HARD man. No loli witch for you! Certain quests will be impossible to complete. Lel, bet you wish you'd taken her safety seriously now, eh?
Haha, shows what you know. Well, never mind, if you enjoy your 3 skills and don't even want the OPTION to install a mod to add more, then more power to you.
I don't have a triangle on my keyboard.
Jokes aside I didn't know that there's more to the poke. Still want my hilt poke along with the smash, counter, and the stab and fling though.
Guys, it's obviously a joke. Look at his stupid greentext.
People who can't into pirating shouldn't pirate.
REALLY? Damn, I never noticed. Then I guess he has a few more options. I'm pretty sure none of them will top loli Selene though.
>We're just asking for 3 more from the pool of skills that are already in the game
I know what you're asking for, dipshit.
And I'm telling you even if you had 6 skills you'll still end up mostly using 3, because you'll have 6 greatsword skills and they're not that unique or different.
Contrary to having for example 3 shield skills and 3 sword skills, since shields and swords play very differently and have different skills.
Here come the replies.
>If I call him stupid, I'll be right and he'll be wrong!
Sewer girl probably died.
fling is pretty useless other then novelty of playing with pawns
counter has pathetic damage
this is knowledge from playing the console version, just so you know
alot of people DO NOT KNOW that you can get the BEST pre dragon Great sword in the game by doing an escort mission of a guy that is STRONG then you are at the time of the quest
its Ser Berne's escort quest on the gran soren inn quest board and you have to do it before you get int the deep catacombs for the first time
you have to befriend Ser berne who is the pawn tutorial guy, give him some forgin knives too
The point is that it would be great to have, not whether or not it's possible.
This reminds me, we'll probably get this outfit from the start now, instead of having to go the stupid DLC speedrun crap:
Right, so you're just confirming that you're retarded and would prefer LESS to MORE skills. Cool.
Never mind that guy. He posts in nearly every DD thread and compares the game to an MMO just because he's autistic about sidequests.
>This is an Itsuno-developed game I expect to be able to do pointless flashy shit just because it looks cool
You can do that just fine with 3 skills and you know, actual skill playing the game.
warriors have utility skills just like fighter has for its shield though
the jump boost, the taunt, I think they have a block skill too, but they are never uses because lol 3 skills and you take the chagre attacks instead
How do I take screenshots?
Ingame "Share" thing doesn't save my screenies anywhere.
Print screen just gives a black screen.
Puush is the same
>Unless it's a mod that also adds a bunch of new warrior skills
>ADDS A BUNCH OF NEW SKILLS
>you're retarded and would prefer LESS to MORE skills
Why does it seem like a lot of people on /v/ have serious problems with reading?
LITERALLY no fun allowed
Apparently, they're quite good. You can't walk with keyboard, only run, and the menus are a but obtuse. But otherwise, it's better for aiming and such.
ALSO, hotkeys for items and weapons. Excellent.
Quina is the qt village grill baka.
Selena is the delicious amnesiac loli witch that I saved from the dragon so she could make me tasty concoctions in my comfy house in Cassardis.
>I will never kill a gigantic dragon, defending my beloved, literally fighting for my heart
>I will never suck Mercedes toes while she sips cloudwine and speaks frenchie things
>I will never carry my qt pawn sidekick over a river so she doesn't have to go tit-deep into the water
F U C K
I remember when this happened to me and I discussed about it in a DD thread, people explained to me that it was good game design because it made you care for the side quests and punishes you for ignoring these.
Just so you know how retarded this fanbase can be. Because the problem here is that this quest is important and has strong story elements in it, plus a whole area, and it's the very first quest that can be cancelled like this, without any warning so it's not even a choice made by the player.
>Do you also hate DMC3's style switcher?
Literally has nothing to do with DD combat whatsoever. There are only a few active weapon skills that can be strung along for a combo and they're mostly dagger skills.
And you won't be style switching shit because you're still using a greatsword.
What if I simply disagree with your opinion without calling into question your intelligence? I think that is the most intelligent solution of all.
I hope you find a game you do enjoy, anon.
Obviously not, and it most likely never will be.
Alright, lets start over, since you seem to be confused: We want a higher number of equippable skills at the same time. This does not mean NEW skills, it only means more of the old, existing skills at the same time.
There, is that better? Do you understand now?
>Is there some kind of housing in the game?
You can kill people, take over their place and pretend it's yours?
I enjoyed the fact. While I was a bit annoyed by the fact that I missed out on shit it didn't make me go full autism and I DO like the fact that there's consequences for me ignoring shit.
I know who Quina is. The issue is that not rescuing her will affect your relationship to Selene, the loli witch that lives in the woods.
Even worse, you won't get a live-in loli at the end, IN ADDITION to your beloved. That is just sad.
Just reddit shitposters who took the ironic shitposting meme too far.
>LEL /v/ is for shitposting xDDDD
You have a house in the starting village.
I have it here somewhere, hang on
I think his 3 extra skills should all be defensive ones if anything or something like that. That said..
Arc of Deliverance.
This and his base combos and that fucking jump attack make him a monster if you use it right.
>hit Grigori with AoD as he's gliding in over the battlefield
>right square on his weakpoint
>fucking collapses to the ground mid-flight
>run over and beat a bar of hp out of him
I fucking came.
>I DO like the fact that there's consequences for me ignoring shit.
Well I couldn't agree more. Except regardless of if you're ignoring it or just save it for later the consequences are the same, pretty shit design.
>We want a higher number of equippable skills at the same time. This does not mean NEW skills
Fucking hell dude, you're the one who's confused.
All I'm saying is if there ever is a mod that gives warriors 6 skill slots it still wouldn't be enough to actually make the warrior a lot more enjoyable to play, because they'd need to add more skills with a bigger variety.
Because contrary to the sorcerer who was designed around having 6 skills for the same weapon, that's why you'll get a lot of different spell types, ranging from buffs, to utility, to status effects, to straight up damage spells.
The warrior was designed around only 3 skills, and that's why 90% of his skills are straight up physical damage skills, with little differences between them.
Clear enough now for you?
>the 2 random pawns
you can just send rook away and kill your main pawn
or make him sit down in a chair, give him a stern lesson to stfu
or toggle his speech in the gameplay options
>sonyfags trying to force memes because one of the best console games in a while is finally getting a port
its actually a mixup between that or spark/corona/epileptic slash
because unlike pommel bash and exodus
spin slash has a ring upgrade from BBI that makes it just HUMONGOUS and has pretty good stagger damage through out the land
I'm not directly comparing DMC3's gameplay to Dragon's Dogma. I'm just giving an example of a game that is obviously "just fine" without a gameplay mod, but that doesn't mean adding more options doesn't make the game even more fun. I'd like to be able to use six skills per weapon just for variety's sake.
>/v/ praises magic in Dragon's Dogma as the best magic in all video games evurr
>It's actually press a button, wait for the 2 minutes long animations while you can't do anything, repeat
I mean yeah it's impressive the first time because the effects are cool, but after using these spells several times it's kinda tedious and not really fun to play.
>mod that gives warriors 6 skill slots it still wouldn't be enough to actually make the warrior a lot more enjoyable to play
are you high nigga ?
That sounds fun as fuck get the fuck outta here
I'm pretty sure he has a dash attack too so you could be doing some Donte teir shit.
I had plenty of fun with Warrior and only 3 skill slots. I guess you seem to be forgetting his higher end perks which makes you hit harder and become tougher.
>atmosphere is objectively shit this has already been discussed in this thread.
like I care as long as it's subjectively amazing
I can travel the roads for dozens of hours and never get bored of it. The sound design nails that coastal feeling so damn fucking well alongside the lighting. Even the shitty foliage blowing in the wind adds up.
>enemy design ranges from bland to OK
Gryphons, drakes, hydras, beholders, gorecyclops, undead drakes, corrupted pawns, ogres all have great movesets, I'd argue some of the best in arpg I've seen.
The canyon and bluemoon tower have very good level design. The rest is serviceable with only the catacombs and the Everfall being really fucking bad.
>I think his 3 extra skills should all be defensive ones if anything or something like that.
Yeah, well you're retarded, so never mind.
>it still wouldn't be enough to actually make the warrior a lot more enjoyable to play
It wouldn't hurt.
>they'd need to add more skills with a bigger variety
That's your opinion. I would be happy enough with just access to 6 skills at the same time. No idea why you started talking about completely NEW skills, nobody said anything about that.
>90% of his skills are straight up physical damage skills
1. Exodus Slash for invun frames
2. Arc for big enemies
3. pommel bash for stun
4. lunge for mobility
5. battle cry for tanking (or possibly ladder blade, a skill that NEVER sees any use because you only have 3 skills)
6. corona slash for AoE
You just lack imagination.
>Clear enough now for you?
Crystal. You're an idiot.
>can't enjoy anything without it being shitposted to death first
Why do you faggots revel in negativity? If you don't like it, fuck off and play something you do like, or at least offer measured criticisms and avoid the " My opinion is objectively correct " bullshit that results in entire discussions being shit.
>but that doesn't mean adding more options doesn't make the game even more fun
For fuck's sake, this is exactly my point, I don't get why everyone is being so defensive? .
Beyond those 6 slots, I'd want more skills with a bigger variety so I can actually have a reason to slot them in those 3 extra slots.
Instead having 2 upward strikes + 2 horizontal slashes + two downward strikes.
>after using these spells several times it's kinda tedious and not really fun to play.
Because that is literally what mages are always like and in DD magic isn't just piddly mini-projectiles that are the same as others with slightly different effects
And DD still has some of those too if you need to cast quickly.
>Instead having 2 upward strikes + 2 horizontal slashes + two downward strikes.
see the nice list this >>323584175 kind anon has made
>1. Exodus Slash for invun frames
>2. Arc for big enemies
>3. pommel bash for stun
>4. lunge for mobility
>5. battle cry for tanking (or possibly ladder blade, a skill that NEVER sees any use because you only have 3 skills)
>6. corona slash for AoE
Those are all entirely distinct skills with different uses.
>Battle cry and Ladder blade
Warrior already generates enough attention just by fighting. Pawns are useless for mounting and the player generally doesn't need assistance either.
There is nothing wrong with 6 skills for Warrior and the only reason he doesn't have 6 is because he'd shit all over the base game with it harder than he already does
5. battle cry for tanking (or possibly ladder blade, a skill that NEVER sees any use because you only have 3 skills)
you dont need EITHER of these
Warrior is not a tank, but a stunner/disabler that does damage
lunge is pathetic, just sprint and attack
I have mixed feelings for pommel bash, its sort've built into your climbing attack
You sound like a faggot, so MA will fit you nicely.
You will never be as fast as strider though.
>LEL U JUS PRESS BUTTAN
Seriously, every single thread, there a person who comes with this stupid-ass critique. Dude, you can do that with every single video game in existence.
>hurr FPS is just point and cluck :^)
>durrr strategy is just click 2 maek units attack
>magic is just press buttan, receive magic, SO GOOD
Lets hear it then, lets hear what your BRILLIANT plan for magic is.
I'll fully admit that Divinity: OS did magic even better though.
>If you wants to fuck with your own textures: http://residentevilmodding.boards.net/thread/481/arc-unpacker-repacker-v0-26 - this guy's unpacker works, use the PC-RE6 batch file, just edit in -tex flag on the batch file, drag and drop the relevant .arc file on the batch file, find your texture you want to fuck with (adding -tex makes the unpacker create a .dds file as well as the game's format: .tex), edit the .dds, and here's the important part: read the .txt file the unpacker generated for the texture file, make sure you're saving your .dds as the correct format : either DXT1 or DXT5, with alpha channel. Then when you've mucked around with all the textures, drag the folder onto that same batch file - this will create a new .arc that you can drop in your game files (back up your original).

>Game is released on console
>People like it
>Get's active friendly playerbase
>Game gets PC port
>Mustards pirate it and shitpost about it
Quasimodo predicted this.
I agree with you, but Arx Fatalis had a really amusing casting system where you wrote runes on the screen with your mouse to cast.
It was wonky as fuck, but the concept is great.
Literally no one gives a fuck about balance in a singleplayer RPG (this game's completely unbalanced to begin with anyway) so hopefully modding this shit in doesn't take genius-tier reverse engineering
So what's a good class combo to play through the game once?
Don't really like completing a game multiple times, but most guides recommend playing almost until the final boss with a starter class and only then switch over to the "real class"...
>you generate aggro just by attack
battle cry has way better range
>are you a PC fag that JUST started playing the game?
Can we not make every - single - post about PC vs. consoles?
The combat in DD is great, you can combo and shit, couple that with the climbing mechanic, etc.. even if it's just use of some buttons, you're always active and you have to think about what you're doing.
End-game magic in DD is literally press "use a spell" and turn the controls off for 2 minutes, this is shit gameplay, not because you only press one button, but because there is nothing behind the use of it, it's not challenging or entertaining to do more than once except for the "wow" effect.
>That's just a couple of high level spells that's supposed to oneshot everything.
But these are the ones used in these arguments about why DD magic is superior, because the quick-use magic spells are kinda like magic in Dark Souls.
So magic is only good to look at, not actually play? Got it, I think you should update your DaS/SKyrim/DD comparison image because it's kinda confusing.
>Like fucking clockwork people are pretending Dragons Dogma threads weren't full of shitposting outside the general before the PC port
>Arx Fatalis is a partially open source first-person role-playing video game for the Xbox and Microsoft Windows, released on November 2002 by Arkane Studios, a video game developer based in Lyon, France.

It was released for Sony Computer Entertainment's PlayStation 2 video game console in 2006 in Japan and North America, and in 2007 in Europe and Australia.
Nice try, but Okami is overrated and you should feel bad for making assumptions as you clearly don't even know the greatness that is Arx Fatalis.
Do I have to plan out my discipline points usage?
Will I lock myself out of future skills if I spend them willy-nilly?
This is true. I remember being upset at how often those threads got invaded by " It's not Skyrim, it's shit! " and " lol consoles "
I main PC, but there's no need to be fuckasses all the time.
>End-game magic in DD is literally press "use a spell" and turn the controls off for 2 minutes, this is shit gameplay, not because you only press one button, but because there is nothing behind the use of it, it's not challenging or entertaining to do more than once except for the "wow" effect.
As I said, like with BLM in FF14 it's about positioning and knowing how to position yourself correctly, taking advantage of terrain and the enemy type. It's a thinking man's approach to combat, some people enjoy that.
I bet you get hit by monsters and then complain about the long cast animations.
No reason to use corona (AOE my ass) over exodus they are both wide arcs, battlecry is literally useless, no use having both indomitable lunge and pommel bash as both can cause enemies to reel, and then there's arc which is only a show off skill.
So you'll probably end up using mostly exodus + lunge + arc
Literally proving my point.
>Beyond those 6 slots, I'd want more skills
Yeah, well good thing that we're not as dumb as you then, and don't expect the impossible.
>MOMMY, I'D LIKE AN AIRPLANE
>honey, you can get an ice cream, will that be okay?
>NO, I WANT AN AIRPLANE, WHY EVEN BOTHER WITH ICE CREAM IF I CANT HAVE A PLANE!??! I WANT A PLANE DAMMIT!! :(((
haha, keep showing how clueless you are, it's entertaining. Fact of the matter is that the only reason it's deemed "useless" is because the others are so essential, and you can't have more than 3 anyway.
>Warrior already generates enough attention just by fighting. Pawns are useless for mounting and the player generally doesn't need assistance either.
dat backtracking. You're just making up excuses. Keep going, it's funny.
>the only reason he doesn't have 6 is because he'd shit all over the base game with it harder than he already does
lol, so you're saying he'd be MORE IN LINE WITH EVERY SINGLE OTHER CLASS then? WHOA, that would be AWFUL!
Frankly, I'd be fine with even just 4 skills, so you can have exodus, arc, corona AND pommel. (Though I also wanna make a case for Lash, because it's a lot faster than arc and can stunlock several enemies. You'd probably just say that that's useless as well though, like the fucking moron you are.)
Your complain is that the magic is boring because of these few spells. I say it's pretty well balanced because you need to manage to remain unscathed until you cast it and the output is well worth it. It's not an awesome button you use all the time, you need to wait for the right moment and distract an enemy for these spells to work.
So if I'm going to be a Sorcerer and I make my main pawn, say, a Strider, can I expect them to actually dodge shit long enough to survive, or am I going to be doing every fight on a strict timer because they keep getting their shit ruined by easily avoidable attacks?
Or, to put it another way, can I trust a melee pawn to survive and semi-effectively distract shit without making them fully defensive?
>End-game magic in DD is literally press "use a spell" and turn the controls off for 2 minutes, this is shit gameplay, not because you only press one button, but because there is nothing behind the use of it, it's not challenging or entertaining to do more than once except for the "wow" effect.
Try pulling off those long cast time spells on some of the more aggressive enemies in the game.
I'll say this now, Mage/Sorcerer are the most boring classes to play in my opinion. But playing as a Sorcerer correctly requires positioning and knowing how an enemy will act. You cannot just cast spells however you want and expect to not get absolutely shit on.
Never tried a strider pawn, but warrior/fighter pawns do a pretty good job of keeping themselves out of trouble assuming you haven't put them in a situation where they're clearly in over their heads.
I reckon a strider will do alright, but you might need to check which inclinations work best ( or experiment if you don't wanna googlefu your way to glory )
>you dont need
Absolutely. I mean, you dont NEED any skills in the game, you can just run around as sorc and pew pew everyone with the charge attack without ever firing as spell. That's not at all the point though, you imbecile. The point is that it's MORE FUN with MORE SKILLS, yet you just insist that more options would be a bad thing somehow.
>Warrior is not a tank
Again, you flaunt your ignorance. Thanks for making my case for me.
True, Arx Fatalis is in its own tier. Would have been awkward on consoles though.
Just try them all and pick what seems cool to you anon. Those guides you've read are shit.
Pawns are smart enough to stay alive, and also smart enough to kill most things effectively.
How you have them trained is actually important, and never really totally explain in game very well.. and the way you can sit a pawn down and ask/tell them to do things differently is kinda weirdly done.
You can also just buy potions at the Pawn HQ or whatever in Gran Soren and do it that way.
>can I expect them to actually dodge shit long enough to survive
yes, if you train him well
fighter pawns are awesome at surviving cause they actually learn how to counter enemies with their shields
That's what it should be like. At the endgame you can one shot anything but it's boring. It's amusing to me to just play with them using low level spells when I could just disintegrate them with a flick of the wrist.
>End-game magic in DD is literally press "use a spell" and turn the controls off for 2 minutes
You clearly haven't cleared BBI as a sorc. Positioning is VITAL and it's very hard to get a cast off.
>magic in DD is the best evurrr it's like in FF14!!
Coincidentally Heavensward BLM is the 2nd best caster class I've ever played in any game, right after DD.
If I didn't have to rely on a group of 7 other people I'd still be all over that game. Fire IV is so damn good hnnnnggghhhh
thats why I keep the sorcerer role to pawns
they seem to know whats up
>bad thing somehow.
because that is the rules of the game
and prove to me warrior is a tank if they cant mitigate damage
>battle cry for tanking (or possibly ladder blade, a skill that NEVER sees any use because you only have 3 skills)
Have you even played the game?
The reason it never sees any use is because it's MUCH easier to get and maintain aggro by actually dealing damage instead of using war cry and shield drum like a moron.
Corona is a 270 degree angle. Exodus isn't even 180, and throws off your positioning. I bet you don't even know which moves give you hyper armor. God damn, retards like you are the worst.
>using lunge to stun singular enemies
lel, keep talking man, you're just proving how dumb you are.
In fact, tell me how you feel about Indomitable lash why don't you? I mean, it's clearly NOT worth using, right? haha
>Positioning is VITAL and it's very hard to get a cast off.
I agree but this makes the whole thing more frustrating than anything. Maybe if you could at least move during your cast the gameplay would be better because it would make casting more flexible.
>cant mitigate damage
I mitigate damage by getting hit and not giving a shit and pommel bashing things before they strike. Bastion bumps your defense by 50, and another skill bumps your Strength by like 20%
Combine that with some good armor and you're probably not getting hurt that much unless you just let it happen.
>wasting time stunning regular enemies at all
Nah you're obviously the expert here.
>I agree but this makes the whole thing more frustrating than anything.
It's what makes it fun. You are using the exact same argument people use to hate on black mages, but the matter of the fact is that some of us do enjoy position based gameplay.
If it's not your cup of tea, try any one of the other classes to zipzap around the battlefield.
It's also part of the reason why I enjoy the fuck out of warrior and their slow ass skills or great sword in monster hunter.
You cannot access other peoples pawns if you pirated the game on PC. That's an online only feature. Not only are the servers not enabled right now, but why would you think pirates can access online features in a game?
Alright, thanks for the answers. Guess I'll try carefully training a Strider pawn to make themselves useful. If it doesn't work out after all, I'll switch them to Fighter and convince myself those Strider levels were useful for muh min-maxing or something.
I just wanna recreate my favourite fantasy duo of Goku Wizard + Thief.
>Maybe if you could at least move during your cast
You can with some skills after your cast is finished, for example glycel
>how do i even check who made them?
Online is not up yet because game hasn't officially been released. All the pawns you see in game are randomly generated or have been created by the devs.
>those Strider levels were useful for muh min-maxing or something
you will want your pawn to level as strider anyways to get strider augments.
Augments are way more important than the stat growth you get from leveling up.
>I should get access to online features hosted on a dedicated server if I pirate the game
It doesn't work like that anon, it never has and it never will.
Those pawns you see roaming around are randomly generated. But if you pirated you'll never be able to use other peoples pawns, and they'll never be able to use yours.
>getting this bootyblasted over an animu image
Come on man. We were having a real discussion here and I was telling you just how wrong you were about warrior, but then you back out like this? Bitch move anon
>the rules of the game
...that's literally what we're discussing the merit of, you cockgobbling idiot.
>they cant mitigate damage
Try to use your brain for a moment. How does a fighter mitigate damage? They wear armor. What does a warrior wear? just as heavy armor. How does a fighter AVOID damage? By blocking. How does a warrior avoid damage? By using invincibility frames.
In addition to all of this, warriors also have the most hyper armor and stagger resistance out of all the classes. This helps when holding the attention of your enemies, as well as knocking them all on their ass with corona slash. THIS is how a warrior tanks.
>it's pretty much commonly agreed that BLM is the most boring class in the game
The most boring class in the game is PLD, everyone agrees.
Thank you for showing you know shit.
Yeah, try doing that against harpies that are out of reach anon. Good luck!
Can I ask WHY you would prefer LESS options to MORE? You still haven't answered that. You keep going "I would want new skills then :(" but really, that's not realistic. So why not a compromise then.
>B-B-B-BUT THAT'S NOT HOW IT IS!!! :(((((
The game has flaws, it's just that your arguments as to what those are aren't substantial in the slightest.
>download seyter's repack
>wait ~40 minutes for game to install
>boot up game and get some prompt in some runes I don't understand
>click one of the options and suddenly game is uninstalled
Did anyone else have this issue and what language is the repack in?
>THIS is how a warrior tanks.
And they do it well. It's a way more offensive style of tanking, as expected from a twohanded class. The design is pretty good, except for the 3 skill imit.
Haha, yeah, because it only works against regular enemies, right? Is that what you believe?
Mitigating != blocking. Now, lets hear you explain how you "mitigate" as a fighter.
