Old thread: >>323464330
who /halfgeniehero/ here?
I tried yesterday, got maybe 5 replies. And that wasn't the first time.
Sadly I just don't think she's ready for a general
>actual games are crap
So you haven't actually played the actual games
You should, they're fun.
There was an /hgh/ when the campaign was running, but that was because they were daily updates and /v/ constantly forgets that whenever a new KS rolls out and bitches about shilling.
what's your current Shantae wallpaper /v/?
Oh she will anon, she's getting stronger every day
Your hate only makes her more powerful
We'll give it a shot when HGH comes out, should see a bit more success.
>tfw no copy on preorder because I missed the kickstarter by the time I'd discovered the series
Not that guy but...
Risky's Revenge is pretty underwhelming and probably the worst of the three, the original while fine by GBC standards is just slow, Pirate's Curse is pretty fucking sweet though, best one by far.
Haven't made up my mind about HGH yet, the gameplay is fine from what little the demo gives you but i'm not really super impressed, that's not to say i'm not gonna play the hell out of it, i did drop $250 on it.
postin the amerifat collage
WF said they purposely left some stuff out of the demo, the game is going to be great they've had the budget, time, and team to make this game guaranteed to be at the very LEAST another pirate's curse but of course I want it to be better than that
>I spent money on that shitty kick attack
Mistakes were made
The end of that tail is gonna go somewhere special.
same anon who made the jap one made >>323506429 during the last thread, they said they'd do a amerifat 3ds one soon
>friend backed Mighty No. 9
>I chose to back HGH
>Mighty No. 9 turns out dogshit
>HGH looks great
>all these people saying RR was the weakest and original was 10/10
>couldn't even get past the first dungeon in original before dropping it
>find out they deliberately send you in the wrong direction at the end
>meanwhile played through RR on DSiWare and Director's Cut on Steam and loved every minute
I'm not saying everyone's retarded except for me, but everyone's retarded except for me.
>I backed both
I'm only 50% in regret.
let's be fair, I don't think anyone had any idea how much of a shitfest MN9 was going to be
>Sadly I just don't think she's ready for a general
Afraid you're right
Why can't she just sit on me, bros?
It's an edit. Beck's face is redrawn based on his godawful figure's face.
Here's the original.
It's no worse than anything you'd find in Metroid or Castlevania
In fact it's extremely similiar to Castlevania, down to the day/night cycle which is exclusive to the first Shantae.
Just watch your ass in the Naga Wasteland at night.
...man you Mighty No. 9 guys really got boned
>Backed MN9 and Shantae
>MN9 looks flatout awful
>Shantae will probably be average just like the others
>Didn't back Shovel Knight or Bloodstained
>Shovel Knight was my goty 2014
>Bloodstained looks better every update
I still haven't beaten it to be fair. I always lose interest. Maybe if I get it on PC or Wii U I'd be willing to sit down with it more.
Also personally I think
Contra 4is wayforward's best game.
I've loved the Shantae games. I did however pirate(as Risky would want me to) The Pirates Curse and its really good.
Just one problem though that made me quit playing. I got to the part right after you run through the forest and then have to find a wheel or something for the Rotty Wagon. But something happened to where I either missed a key item in the forest and can't go back without restarting the game.
Cat genie without salad
Now that was just the biggest garbage.
Heard they couldn't even change prizes on there
Finished streaming for the night and will be exporting parts unlisted to youtube. From there, I'll grab 'em with a downloader and piece together some highlights of my first time playing Shantae (never played any of the games before).
Glad to see you're on board
There are no brakes on the Shanty Express
Sky is perfect. Everyone just needs to change their opinions of her.
Not yet, it's "very likely" along with my personal favorite, pic related
This whore was made for only 1 thing.
Thanks. I really never knew just how much went on in this game with the gameplay and it astounds me with it being a GBC title with this much depth.
Currently wondering whether I should get Pirate's Curse for 3DS or on Steam?
And whether or not I need to beat the original first.
>Heard they couldn't even change prices on there
ftfy. and yeah that bugs me a lot. i want to buy Risky's Revenge on my 3DS but $12 is a big no no. i got Pirate's Curse for $10 and that game is much better, longer, and more polished.
when will they release Director's Cut on the eShop? then it'll get some decent sales and i'll actually purchase it.
Beat the original.
Then play Risky's Revenge.
Then Pirate's Curse.
There's an overarching story through all the games, not the deepest thing in the world, but if you want to really get all the references and plotlines and shit it's the best possible experience.
And mermaid girls, and slime girls, and...
On the PC I get to use a full display but on the 3DS I have semi-3D and portability.
A deciding factor may also be whether or not the PC version has community content or stuff like that which can modify the game in any way.
I dunno but here's a weird pillow monster thing
>Just received a foil Squid Baron card on Steam
>It sells for 8 dollars
even the monster girls don't get that much love
Anything not Shantae, Risky, or Rotty gets fuck all.
>Back Mighty Blunder Nine
>Planned to back HGH as well
>HGH backing fell through because of overdraw
>By the time I was able to do anything about it, I had neglected MN9 too long, and the KS for it ended with it funded
>Inafune got my money, when I could have given it to WayForward
I'm such a fool.
>spending your money on kickstarters when you're living paycheck to paycheck
>tfw it's 4:09am
>can't continue streaming after ending
>but gotta beat Shantae before moving on to Risky's Revenge
>then Pirate's Curse
>watching the thread pass me by with content I have no clue about but gets me excited
>want to share the entire experience through streaming
>worried about getting lost and doing stupid things like rushing and getting frustrated at dying stupidly and being a fool
This is suffering.
>Don't back kickstarters on principle.
>Especially avoid backing Mighty Number 9 because Keiji Inafune is a jackass hack
>Still get to support the games I like when they release.
You don't have to do that, just type in "Shantae".
actually. you can just search "Shantae"
her JP name will be suggested after
Man it's depressing when monster girls from games dont get more fanart.
This game is taking them so long to finish that I've lost all interest. Not that I had much interest in it to begin with, they ruined the game with their Newgrounds-tier sprites and slow movement.
Bitch please, with her hips she was built for one purpos
Take all the Shantae girls and pair them up like you want. how would your pair list look?
truly a shame
MoJ isn't an accepted source material.
they certainly are pretty cute in HGH
>Saw game was on sale during Christmas
>Decide to splurge for it because cute brown waifu and I've heard it was a good platformer
>Install it and enjoying myself
>Log three hours of it and come back the next day
>After spider island my computer blue screens
>restart and continue on
>get to same part and it blue screens again
>get a bit farther after I restart, but same issue again
>now I can't play it anymore without risking fucking up my laptop
Life is suffering.
Giga is cuter.
>tfw the genie you released is some giant-chinned blue guy and not a q2pie half-genie
life is cruel
Cant wait for some kind of update on the game
Giga mermaid is true waifu material
Just let the poor girl go
2012 - Intel Pavilion dv6 model. I've had it since I graduated high-school. I've been able to play mostly all of my other games on it, but this is by far the worst thing that's happened to it when trying to play something.
>Not using blue genie to wish for sexy tan half genie.
>you will never be able too wish for a qt tan half-genie hero
>not throwing in on the Yooka-Laylee Kickstarter when it was guaranteed all future DLC
That was definitely worth it.
The only other Kickstarter I backed, I got my money's worth.
Lo and behold, it was a gift that keeps on giving!
The problem with a general is that every single good pic and subject will eventually be a repost. Going to /vg/ would ruin the spontaneity, even if only the illusion of it, of having a thread on /v/
>tfw no doujin of Pirate Master x Risky where Pirate Master rapes her with his thick long cock, sticking it slowly eventually creating fear in Risky who screams and struggles violently near the end until it goes in too deep and kills her
It's like these guys don't even like ryona
I agree. /wfg/ worked because there was an update on a daily basis. /hgh/ probably could stay alive since there'll be post launch expansions, however (hell, /mmg/ is somehow still kicking).
Well, how else would you explain him having
Bolo can do other things with her.
OK, that was misleading for me to say. Starting with porn is bad, because "sexy" is difficult. You're going to judge the appeal of your women more than you'd judge drawin an inanimate object. Work your way to boobies.
Hair cap, essentially the same thing, but for sleeping.
I'm really kinda jealous of Shantae actually. She's such a perfect cute character design. I don't know I'll ever come up with a character as simply appealing as her.
I don't understand this. What exactly about MN9 makes it look "shit"? The gameplay videos we've gotten that far look fine. I don't give a fuck about some dipshit community manager saying something stupid, that has literally zero impact on the game.
really desperate for those replies, huh?
MN9 will probably be decent, but given the pedigree of the people working on it, it should be much, much better than "decent".
also the voice acting is fucking terrible holy shit
I like how he felt the need to include VA when literally every single mega man game that tried it had fucking atrocious voice work. Axl would've been at least bearable if his whiny, awful fucking voice wasn't pitching in every 10 seconds.
1/2 genie booty when?
I just played the demo that kind anon posted earlier. I'm not sure I like the shift from larger areas made out of multiple screens to having everything in one big screen or "room". Also no checkpoints made that sliding level a pain in the ass. Still it's cute as fuck and plays well. HGH is still going to have towns and NPCs and stuff right?
Scuttle Town is still the main hub. It loops around itself this time.
Concept art and chapter descriptions suggest that there might be other towns in the game, but they won't serve the same puprose as Scuttle Town.
But how would you have preggo sex with Shantae if you didn't knock her up?
I assumed you were doing that thing of hiding sauce behind a thesaurus, and just spent five minutes searching for variations of "bent earth" or "warped world" before actually trying twistied terra.
piratedShantae and TPC for 3DS and played it for the first time
>apparently a bunch if back story I missed out on for never playing a Shantae game before
So whats Risky Boots' deal with Shantae and why does she get jiggle animations
Depends on your tastes. Shovel Knight owes the most to Castlevania and Zelda 2. Shantae has more Sonic in its blood. Not a ton, but enough to distinguish it from Shovel Knight's pure NES lineage.
I tried both and only finished Shantae because I prefer that sort of faster, smoother platforming gameplay. You should pick the one that suits your tastes best.
same here. Shovel Knight just feels too slow and shovel bouncing off foes' heads is the optimal way of combat. Shantae on the other hand, has more variety in combat and feels more fluid and quick to me. bosses in Shantae also utilize what you learn during the level, in contrast to Shovel Knight's shovel bouncing spam fest. i'd recommend Pirate's Curse over Shovel Knight any day to be honest.
>Shovel Knight owes the most to Castlevania and Zelda 2. Shantae has more Sonic in its blood
That's only true of Pirate's Curse.
The first two games are fairly slow and methodical, just like Zelda 2.
Shovel Knight is a melee Mega Man if anything.
>He doesn't like high-estrogen mombods
>He probably doesn't even fantasize about impregnating their lewd breeding bodies
Get a load of this practicing homosexual.
Well that's all I have of sky's mom. Is there any new rottytops since I used to dump in the days of the kickstarter threads?
I'm guessing no
>calling him a homo
Jinx, you gotta commission me more sky's mom.
KS threads were the shit. I kind of miss those days. The anticipation, the discussion, the moaning about no extra playable characters.
I was surprised the ammo baron girls didn't get any art really.
There's more of her than the ammo baron girls, at least.
How will you ever please a half-genie?
Come on now.
As a major Shantae fan and supporter, I think I can speak for all of us when I say we knew she was a long shot. There was nothing surprising about Bayonetta being picked, nor is there any animosity towards her inclusion.
At the end of the day, all that can be said is that it's really cool to see all the wonderful outpouring of support Shantae got, and here's hoping for Smash 5.
OK, OK, I'm awake.
Going to continue streaming shortly if any of you are up for it.
I'm gonna need a lot of guidance getting through Shantae since I fear I'm going to get lost an awful lot.
For a GBC game it looks pretty damn good dude
wait a second,i once made a thread for discussing about who was best girl (i also made a strawpoll, but i think that now is lost btw shantae was winning)and i only got 5-6 replies, what is happening now ?
(cont.) Stream will be up shortly on the twitch channel halolobby. There'll be no commentary but you get to watch me fumble about.
During the first session I was strongly advised to just put on max lives since the life system is apparently more hassle than anything and that back-tracking would be a severe pain.
I also ended up putting on max gold since I would guarantee I would've spent two or more hours just grinding on snakes otherwise for the gold, but made sure to switch it off after getting all I felt needed from the second town.
I'm the usual OP of /v/'s Shantae threads, and all I can tell you is it's hit or miss. Sometimes they fall flat and sometimes we get a surplus of posts like we have in the past 24 hours
Once HGH releases we should see a considerable increase in interest
>not already knowing who best girl is
I would already be happily married to Sky if I lived in that universe
The Bloodstained ones were a bunch of fun, especially before the reveal with all the sword vs. Whip threads. I'm kind of sad that I didn't discover shantae until after the KS.
>tfw Wayforward is finally letting play as Bolo
>we can experience his suffering first-hand
>washed up and extremely overrated LITERAL shovelware studio who has to pander to horny 12 year olds with softcore western porn can't finish a game before MM9 did with twice the time
Well, nobody came and I found myself stuck again. As great as this game is, it's really not intuitive about player progression and direction.
From what I hear, Half-Genie Hero is a remake of the original, so would I best just skip the original?
It's not a remake, and you shouldn't
I gotta go to work in a few minutes, but i'll be home later tonight and i'll help you out. If there's not a Shantae thread up I'll make one and we'll get going from there.
>Half-Genie Hero is a remake of the origina
Not even close, and yes GBC shantae is a bit archaic, you'd do yourself a favor and at least look up a map or something, if not consulting a guide between dungeons.
there was a dance club in the first town.
do I have to backtrack all the way there or is the elephant dance located in some place you'd happen to pass by without any indication for a plausible entrance?
It's located in the second dungeon, the Golem Mine, in the desert. Left of Scuttle Town.
To gain access, speak to Sky in her hatchery in Oasis Town, then meet Wrench at the labyrinth entrance afterwards.
Take the underground entrance in the Naga Wasteland, but watch out at night.
Elephant is from a fountain in a dungeon, just like Monkey was.
I'd need to look up where you have to go to get access to that dungeon, I haven't played the first one in a while.
>>323555557 Well shit, this guy beat me to it. Listen to him.
>use a map
>or a guide
I've never been one to use tutorials or walkthroughs outside of locating completionist content.
This really just feels like a hassle despite the great gameplay for it's time.
Now I'mleft pondering whether to just give this game a pass and just watch someone else play it on Youtube so I can catch up on the lore.
I know this may seem assholish of me, but it is extremely frustrating to repeatedly feel stuck on something I don't immediately know the answer to since I can usually figure things out really fast.
The only bullshit thing in the game is the wall in >>323555081 there isn't anything indicating that it can be destroyed.
The game is literally played like this:
1. Go right and beat the labyrinth
2. Go left and beat the labyrinth
3. Go back to step 1
You do not need a guide to beat the game
1. Left, take ladder in Naga Wasteland to Oasis Town. Talk to Sky. She's in a house like Bolo was
2. Go back to Naga Wasteland, keep going left to more desert. Dungeon's there.
3. Get Elephant. Do Elephant things
Anyway, the game would've served better to cut out the squid-hunting and just offer up an immediate checkpoint warp system once you arrived at town. That or at least an overworld map to turn to.
So now that Shantae was confirmed to lose the Smash Ballot, do you think WayForward will finally get back to working on their own game or will Matt just keep whining and making baseless conclusions over the "project updates" for HGH and Twitter?
