PPSSPP 1.0 got released today. I was excited to try it until I realized the PSP literally has zero game worth emulating/playing.
Broken Destiny was shit. No story or quest mode, just a fucking adhoc multiplayer, a training mode and a single player vs computer. Don't even get me started on that tutorial shit.
I really wanted to play Class of Heroes but it randomly fucking crashes when you exit menus in dungeons.
Still, my Galaxy S5 manages to play Valkyria Chronicles 2 very respectably.
>tfw PPSSPP's launcher looks better than any frontend I have used including steam and launch box
>not using the dev builds already
>always waiting for stable releases
>still think the numbers mean anything
>being so poor you can't spend ~$70 on the emulator portable
My PSP broke and fuck buying a new one when I can just emulate it on my phone.
I mean I miss action games on it but for slower-paced games that you can just savestate and pick up and play whenever is best for portable anyway.
Temperatures and specs.
Desmume by comparison would still struggle to hit 60 FPS even with multiple speedhacks, and my processor would probably be around 130-40 degrees.
you know it.
I have a CFW PSP but the memory card hardly holds any games and I'd rather play at a higher resolution.
Oh and PSP isn't the best handheld for emulation anymore, it can barely even handle N64.
I just bought a vita to hack it and play PSP games.
>mfw I forgot PSP had an emulator
>mfw I have a PC that can 60fps even the worst games in PCSX2
Is it at least playable unlike that shitty ps2 emulator that can't render any audio or visual correctly?
>HD version exists for PS3 and 360
>Playing the PSP version
>even on an emulator
well Desmume generally doesn't run as well as even Wii/PS2 emulators.
I have an i5 3570k and a 280x and I can play 3D DS games at X2 native res at 60fps, but any higher than that and it starts dropping frames.
That being said you have a pretty toaster tier CPU and GPU.
>RPSC3 guys are now trying to implement Vita emulation before their PS3 emulation is even realistically playable
the ride never ends
Not him but the worst I've gotten with my S5 running PPSSPP is slow framerate (usually just overstraining the device), and I experienced my first regular crashing today with Class of Heroes.
Otherwise, it's really fucking good.
Yes, it's playable. It's not an overstatement to say that PPSSPP is probably one of the best emulators around. I can run games at 2xres and some additional shit prettying it up and I'm on a toaster that can't emulate jack shit in PCSX2 without lag, not even KH2. No lag whatsoever, except for Portable 3rd HD; and even then a little fiddling gets me back in business.
Some games just don't wanna work, though. Kenka Banchou still fucking freezes after the first fight, last I checked.
My blatant cocksucking of PPSSPP aside, it's a hell of a lot better than that other java-based piece of shit, that's for sure.
to be fair it took far longer for Dolphin to become as good as it is.
I mean sure the GC and Wii are more powerful systems, but PPSSPP practically appeared in working order overnight.
I think that's why people talk it up so much.
Has Dolphin gone through some major overhaul recently or something? I don't remember it being shit, but it wasn't amazing either. Certainly didn't perform like on ran on fucking fairy dust the way ppsspp does.
I was able to run almost every wii game at 1080p on my 5770.
Now that I've upgraded I can run anything I've tested at 1440p and have plenty of power to spare.
PPSSPP is great but it's for a much weaker, much simpler system.
you're thinking of it in the wrong direction
it's an oldschool dungeon crawler that provides the graph paper for you
it's the complete experience of the wizardry era
and it's not tedious at all really
>Timesplitters ran like shit a year ago on Dolphin
>tried the latest build today, smooth as fuck on the same hardware
They've gotten better, but only because they got jealous as fuck of both PPSSPP and libretro and they finally got off their ass and started optimizing their shit, instead of their dick headed mentality of NEW HARDWARE WILL FIX IT SHUT UP IT'S OUR EMULATOR IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT LEAVE.
They're still fucktarded faggots but they're actually doing some shit now, the real dead emulator is PCSX2.
I enjoyed it on my DS, but fatfingering the map controls on a phone screen is a big issue.
Professor Layton is bad enough with that already. I can't imagine trying to draw tiny map lines with my hamfist.
>provide it to you
>fixed the specific game you wanted to play
>you still complain
PCSX2 community is the worst of I've experienced so far.
Everytime you try to get help in their forums, the mods literally bait you into posting something that proves you pirated something, to close the thread and be done with it.
What a disgusting bunch of people.
I'll be excited for when its on my smartphone.
For now, I'll keep playing GC Animal Crossing on my galaxy
Fuck that piece of shit. Seriously, I got better framerate from other emulator that runs on a FUCKING PHONE. Not to mention it's less glitchy too.
>Everytime you try to get help in their forums, the mods literally bait you into posting something that proves you pirated something, to close the thread and be done with it.
what the fuck, that's worse than stuff posted in tech support forum threads. got any links?
>I'll be excited for when its on my smartphone.
You can be excited now then.
I don't visit that piece of shit for a long time now, so I don't, sorry. But I'm sure that if you browse their forums for a bit you'll find some.
FF Type 0
Monster Hunter if you're into it
Prinny 1 & 2
Dead Head Fred
God Eater (spelled Gods Eater in america)
Brandish: The Dark Revenant (translation patch available)
Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep (final mix translation avaialable)
MH multiplayer can be played via Evolve. Not sure how it works for other games, but to MH3p requires a trick thing where you slow down your fps when first starting a hunt, or else you'll likely just DC. It's been a while, google that shit.
yeah I think the reason I had to do it manually was because the ini was read-only for whatever reason.
So when I did it inside the program it wouldn't save it, but when I edited the ini and copied it over it did.
It had a couple games that were like, "If I had a PSP at the time, and I was on an airplane, I probably would have played them and then never played them again"
But yeah, I have no idea why anyone bought one
>thinly veiled recommendation thread
>all of /v/ falls for it
>Should I get some friends?
Yes if you have some. If not,
>Can I play it on LAN?
Use Tunngle. Don't listen to >>281718949, Evolve is dead. It's easy as fuck and there's a guide too, google that shit. Also, regarding the LAN, I think it's possible. Never tried it though, but since connection is made P2P I think you just have to fiddle around with the IP address and AdHoc Server.
Hey, I think it's more realistic. that whole CELL shit will take plenty of time to emulate, the stupidly weird architecture of teh system, etc.
PSVITA is just the PS2 stuck in a portable format. I can see they getting something going this year.
Yes, I loved it. It's pretty easy, but it's long (more than 60 hours), the story it's good, the graphics are nice and the character/scenario design is the best part. A shame I can't remember the name of the artist.
i liked it, but it was a bit too slow for my taste
Maybe? I'm not sure.
CMIIW, but basically here how it works:
>PC A sets AdHoc Server
>PC B connect to PC A using PC A IP address as destination
So technically Tunngle isn't even needed for multiplayer. I can connect to anyone as long I know their IP, kinda like Hisoutensoku.
Its even worse than you think. All the native drivers for this laptop are Windows 8. Its was basically a miracle that I found working drivers for it.
I dont have one.
>tfw just want fucking cfw for psp on vita
I dont want to pirate any vita games. I just want FUCKING PSP GAMES WITH A SECOND STICK AND BRIGHTER SCREEN FUCK! Even on max brightness the psp3000 isn't close to the vita 1000 on lowest brightness.
I noticed theres a lot of good ports and remakes on it.
>FFI-IV (not sure about this)
>War of the Lions
Might be others, but for an srpg/jrpg fan it's kind of nice. Might pick one up if I can find one for cheap for some comfy gaming. Any emulate it on? I assume GBA is smooth, but what about snes/genesis stuff? does that even work?
I would give it to portable 3rd which, in addition to its eastern fantasy aesthetic, fixes a bunch of the little things I dislike about the gameplay
FU definitely has it in terms of mission content
I think a greater question than "what should I download" is "where do I download from?" There used to be some great sources that have long since died. I have yet to find a good replacement resource unless I've missed something.
PSP2 infinity in english is also going to be a thing hopefully in 2015.
I got a cfw question, hopefully someone can answer.
Whenever I convert a UMD to an iso, it always comes out as UMD9660 and theres no way to rename it. So how do I put multiple of my UMDs onto the memory stick? Also does anyone have a Crush or Echochrome torrent somewhere? I can't find shit on those two gems.
you will definitely need HD; the nonHD iso is compressed in a weird way and won't work in the emulator
that said, even with the translation patch you'll be missing out on a lot
for a more complete english MH, try freedom Unite
IMO, 3rd is the better one though
got around to start playing psp games a few months ago, fuck ton of anime games and anime derivative games, here's some good ones
rockman irregular hunter x - remake of x1, changes the story around a bit, remixes pod locations and hides most of them. actually like it, in ways it is better than the original
ultimate ghosts and goblins - best ghosts and goblins i've ever played
gundam vs gundam & gundam assault survive - really good games, gundam vs gundam has less menu navigation, easier to get around without being able to read
gunpey - trippy somewhat unique puzzle game, great soundtrack
ikki tousen eloquent fist / xcross impact - think of these as like proto senran kagura
jeanne de arc - good turned based tactical rpg by level 5, somewhat like tactics ogre but not a clone
macross frontier ace / ultimate / triangle - same developer as many of the gundam psp games. whereas the gundam games are armored core derivative these games are like armored core + ace combat
namco battle museum - a compilation of arcade games + 4 remade / arranged games including rally x and pacman, looks nice
prinny can i be the hero / operation panties - 2d side scroller with beautiful sprite animation
r-type tactics - basically a nectaris clone with slight changes, good music
star ocean first departure - definitive version of this game, star ocean 2 like battle system and great looking 2d backdrops
hammerin' harry - easy going colorful platformer, feels somewhat like goemon
exit / exit 2 - slow paced puzzle platformer with a sense of humor and nice sound design
saru saru daisakusen - ape escape game played as the monkeys instead of spike / spats loli
fate/extra - seemingly persona 3/4-esque rpg
ridge racers / ridge racers 2 - basically remakes of ps1 ridge racer tracks with some recycled / remixed music, 60 fps
grand knights history - barely played but immediately seems like a quality game
buncha rpgs and vn type shit, will report more in years to come
How's BRS the game? I didn't get very far but it kind of looks really cheap and boring
You make it seem like he spaced every word anon, on top of that its a simple trick to make something written look more enticing to read broken up rather than one fuck huge wall of text.
Or does it trigger your autism? :^)
You're missing out. I'd go as far to say even that VC2/3 are a huge part of the psps identity, even if theyre niche. First one is cheap on steam or PS3 and is also worth playing.
It's awful on emulator because of no analog camera movement. Really the HD collection is the best way to play Peace Walker, so we have to wait until Kojima graces us PCfats with a port of the HD collection
>wonder why I'm getting so much aliasing
>realize rendering resolution reset to 1:1
>set it to x8 PSP resolution
Uh. Isn't the PS Vita the hackable now, though? Is it at least now possible to at least hack it to sideload and play PSP games?
The HD version doesn't have the recruit-guys-through-nearby-wifi-sources thing though right? I managed to grind up a base full of A/S ranked guys on the PSP version while riding around town in an armoured vehicle. Good times.
MH FU and 3rd can be played using Adhoc and Hamachi/Tungle you dont need to do the slowdown thing anymore unless your connection is crap
If something doesnt work google it MH requires to have a couple settings off on the emulator like fast memory for it to work online
Freedom Unite has a lot more content (monsters, misions, i think maps, etc) but hitboxes are a bit broken also is harder than 3rd
3rd has better graphics, better hitboxes, but a lot less content and no G-rank it has SwitchAxes and upgraded movesets from MH3
Both MH games can be played online with Adhoc and Hamachi/Tungle if it refuses to work just google it you need to work a bit with the settings on the emulator to play it onlinr.
the one with the fastest processor and best GPU.
what kind of question is that?
no one buys a phone singularly for emulation so quoting a product that happens to be the best wouldn't serve much of a purpose and even if that was helpful new phones are released constantly.
I couldn't get into Type0. Either you needed to grind or I just sucked. Every fight started to one-shot competition. Either I did shit to none damage to enemy or one-shotted it when the red icon appeared or I got one-shotted. Shit got annoying very fast.
I'll just leave this here.
>small part rars
Where were you downloading it from?
You expecting me to be your missionary or something just cause I post your mega all the time?
Rixia still a best
Yes, go out and convert the masses to save them from the evils of paid upload sites.
Only if SC is released before Summer 2015
Wait what, why would they do that? I don't get it, PCSX2 is a PS2 emulator. You use it to play PS2 games on the computer. You can't really get PS2 isos WITHOUT pirating them, that makes no fucking sense.
Also, isn't that the most well-known and used PS2 emulator? It can't really be dead.
>Wait what, why would they do that?
I guess they're paranoid about legal shit.
>It can't really be dead.
It's not really dead, I see there are still nightly builds. I haven't tested to see whether they're any good though.
