Nothing. It was a perfectly respectable console, and had a lot of fun games on it. Your complaint about HDTVs don't make much sense, considering it dropped in 2000, and HDTV adoption didn't even begin being something more than a super-rich ego booster until the mid 2000s (and even then, LCD was arguably worse than a tube TV).

The normie masses don't care about pixel counts and framerates.

The PS2 was a known brand (unlike the Xbox) which doubled as a DVD player and had a bunch of exclusives game franchises.

Bloom objectively makes games look better, unless it's overused

RAs would be fine if they didn't have armor. Players should have to use them as part of a combo and not as a "ez damage button". At the moment they just encourage players to turtle when they're losing and it severely hampers the opponents ability to remain aggressive.

Don't know if it's been mentioned, but why would anyone buy this when you can just emulate for free. Pretty sure I'm the first person to mention this. And here's a bonus one: has anyone heard of Raspberry Pi? You can load full romsets from many retro systems onto an SD card. Just wanted to pop in here and make sure you guys are all aware of these points. Haven't seen any of them posted yet. To summarize: you can emulate all these games for free. Just a reminder in case anyone was unaware.
