After 3 episodes what can you say about these shows: Idol Jihen, Minami Kamakura Koukou Joshi Jitensha-bu, Schoolgirl Strikers.

What's the most recent of your favorite pairs? Doesn't have to be top 9 or whatever, but just the most recent ones that stuck with you long after the season ended and wasn't just something to get you through a quarter of a year.

Last season I know Fine & Izetta, and Cocona & Papika got a lot of mileage, but I'm giving it a honeymoon before I give it any long-term thought.

So what will you do when Japan gets hit by a large tsunami/earthquake/volcanic eruption and kills the source of 90% of yuri?
>>
>>2251150
I recommend you watch all three. I'm enjoying all three.
Idol Jihen has occasional balding old men bad guys that only show up briefly in one episode each. They have no reliance, and are just present to display generic stupid bad guys. Girls are the primary and majority characters (kids are frequently present in the episodes, but also only appear for the given episode and are irrelevant).
Minami Kamakura is an all girl bike club with a hot female teacher that is touch-y feel-y with them. There are occasional background male riders, but again they are of no significance.

Schoolgirl Strikers is action and a bit of slice of life too. So far all characters are female (the evil bad creatures appear sexless to this point in time).

Check them all out. They are all worth watching.
Other shows that have been good this season that you might also want to check out are:
Kemono Friends
Ai-Mai-Mi
Gabriel DropOut
Little Witch Academica
Nyanko Days
BanG Dream!
Urara Meirochou

there is also the long running shows like:
Precure
Aikatsu

that you are probably already aware of...

I can tell you right now that Fine/Izetta will be near the top of my list for a very long time. I love these "power gap" types of pairings like master and servant, princess and knight, lady and maid, etc., and Fine/Izetta play it just perfectly. Maybe I've been reading about carefree blushing schoolgirls for too long, but the fact that these two had hugely important duties they must perform seriously, both for each other's sake and for a bigger cause, really made their relationship feel like it's built on real trust and admiration they have for each other rather than just being a crush. The contrast between how they behave in public and the rare intimate moments, even just the way they talk to each other, it's fucking magical.

That same thing could kill 99% of the het source, leaving a 10% yuri 1% het, and thus making yuri the majority. Life would go on with yuri dominance. How is that for an answer to a stupid question?

I had read the synopsis when looking for /u/ material, and wrote it off since it didn't sound /u/ish, but maybe I'll give it a shot as I don't mind non-u as long as it doesn't have het. (Some of the tragedy stories in recent years make me shy away from some shows, and I got a vibe of that from the pictures of this, but that could be completely off base, and I'll give it a shot anyway).

I still think Sayaka from yagakimi should be here. But this should be fixed, I don't think there are cycles in mai hime and Madoka is the one who raped Homura and not the other way around
>>
>>2251531
There's definitely cycles in Mai Hime. The whole Hime festival happens every hundred(?) years, we just see the latest iteration of it in the anime.

>Madoka is the one who raped Homura and not the other way around
What?
Anyway I think that's referring to Homura mind-raping her in rebellion. Probably deserves a (?) after the tick-mark.
>>
>>2251558
300 years, to be exact. I recently marathoned the whole thing. Was as good as I remembered.

And yes, Homura forced her own selfishness on Madoka and stripped her of her agency by trapping her in a gilded cage. Homura definitely warrants a rapist label.
>>

I miss when rape was by definition a sexual thing.

Oh wait, it still is. You can give Homura that tick when she shoves her fingers up Madoka's butt or something.

>Sword princess Aiz Wallenstein. Today, once again, the strongest female swordsman heads to the giant labyrinth known as the "Dungeon" along with her allies. On the 50th floor where mysteries and threats such as a decayed dragon's corpse that crumbles to ash and an irregularity that creeps ever closer to the party loom, Aiz calls for the wind and heads deeper into the darkness of the Dungeon.

For once, just this time, I held hope that he actually announced something worth watching. These spinoffs of het harem LNs have found success amongst /u/s.
This particular spinoff has one of the haremettes as the MC, though. It's doomed. We may get to see other girls lust after her, but every time the male MC of the original appears the feMC will melt over him.
Fuck that shit, man.

Hope is indeed the first step on the road to dissapointment.

the problem w/ SchoolGirl Strikers is that it throws you in the middle of something and really doesn't explain stuff well. I think it assumes you've played the game/read the manga or LN/know the source material (I don't know where it comes from actually)

Kinda like Red Data Girl in that it assumes you know something about it when you don't.

>>2252064
There's nothing wrong with /qst/, just needs more votes for yuri.
>>
>>2252068
Or to vote the girls to get away from the male characters for reasons other than "ewww boys".
>>
>>2252068
I used to be huge into questing a few years ago, but honestly browsing /qst/ kind of exhausted me since there are just so many and most seem to barely get replies and die within a few threads anyway. These days I basically just read old ones I've followed for a long time, or new /u/ ones by QMs I like and follow on twitter.
>>
>>2252079

>>
>>2251959
Like the over-saturated isekai genre, except lesbian.
>MC fight lesbian dragons, demons, devils, deities etc, become their kept woman
>One of the party member is a lesbian sorceress who only know explosion spells
>She gets an "I love Emilia" moment
>>
>>2252100
Or the QM vetoes it, or the MC isn't female in the first place, both things that happen very often.
Also the fact that, again, most players will latch onto whatever looks like a male character.

>>2252133
Things done a million times aren't really interesting, even with the addition of 'lesbian' to everything. Unless you are a great writer or add twists.
>>
>>2252137
That's why I said it can happen, not that it will.
That's why there must be more people that want yuri.

Is Magical Girl Noir Quest still going? I used to follow that. Had a yuri love triangle. And a few dozen gay side characters.

Back when quests threads were on /tg/ I was under the impression that many, perhaps even most, quests had a female mc with female romantic interests. I even saw a quest where they started off the female protag married to a dude to prevent that from happening because the QM wanted something different.

I was only ever interested in a small handful of quests though.

>>
>>2253007
You guys know if two of the most popular yuri series in Japan flop, theres not much hope for any other series to get an adaptation anytime soon, right?
>>
>>2253043
is ntr really that popular?
>>
>>2253051
Well, they wouldn't give it an anime adaptation if it wasn't.
>>
>>2253054
Yeah they would've.
>>
>>2253043
Yuris been flopping for a while. I don't think it will stop adaptations at all. Though yes, it would be much better if somehow they become a success. Fuck, I'm gonna build an altar and pray for Citrus. Lesser or two evils.
>>
>>2253043
Plenty of popular (at the time) yuri series flopped before so what does it matter if another flop happens? Publishers will continue trying to tap into new markets until insolvency. It isn't one and done. Anons who would rather see them succeed with a series they actually like aren't hoping for less yuri. They're hoping that this won't succeed and monopolize the genre for years until the next popular series turns up and changes the formula.

YRYR was successful but the the money machine keeps churning. Years from now we can look forward to having this argument again over some new yuri series adaptation no one gives a shit about.
>>
>>2253043
It's really going to depend on the anime adaption more than the source material at this point.

This shit isnt KanColle. You cant make a garbage series and expect sales.

Citrus and NTR both need some serious trimming and reorganization to adapt to TV, and I hope whoever the writers are in charge, they do a good job for the sake of all yuri.
>>
>>2253057
No they wouldn't. Especially not to a yuri manga.
>>
>>2253060

Aww, this anon thinks Japan gives a fuck about what westerners think. Just because the majority of the people in here doesn't care about those series, doesn't mean Japan doesn't care and sales said that they indeed care about those series.
>>
>>2253062
yagakimi and murcielago are selling way better than ntr and they don't have an adaptation. so yes oc they would. ntr is popular between yuri hime titles and that's it. the only reason citrus and ntr have animes is because yuri hime wants to promote their now monthly magazine , either that or to boost manga sales
>>
>>2253067
Show me the stats that back your bullshit claims.
>>
>>2252947
I'm still hoping some pure yuri manga which beats citrus regarding sales. I mean that shit is the most popular yuri manga, not a good representation for yuri manga just like stopani and knm are a bad representation for yuri anime
>>
>>2253067
They're not. Murcielago has more raw numbers I think based on more volumes though.

Also if we really wanna go by popularity then Happy Sugar Life would get animated next, wich would be fuckijg hilarious
>>
>>2253063
There was nothing in that comment about westerners influencing any of this. Can you read? It was explicitly about publishers making the most money they can which you even used as your own fucking point.
>>
>>2253043
The real problem is that there never was. With how fucked up Japanese society is, there's no realistic chance of a paradigm shift anywhere in our lifetime that would make yuri in general more financially viable. Sure, there's always the possibility that some unforeseen event shakes the very foundation of a nation, but those are few and far between. We are stuck with subtext and one or two explicit shows per decade.
>>
>>2253068
u mad bro?
you want the numbers for yagakimi and murcielago? it's on their twitter pages , don't be lazy
>>
>>2253075
Someone already disproved your point a couple of comments above, bro.
>>
>>2253072
oh yeah I forgot happy sugar life. well you're right, murcielago sells more because it has about 8 volumes, but ntr and yagakimi have 3 and yagakimi is doing better. what I'm saying is that ntr didn't get an anime because of popularity
>>
>>2253071
StoPan and KnM represent the exact type of genre that yuri anime typically fall in. The former a pure shool romance series while the latter is a romance series set against an actual plot. They don't beat around the bush and try to sell you some other bullshit ideals or themes.

Bad "yuri" anime representations would be things like Utena TV or Yuri Kuma, which tries way too hard to make yuri more than it actually is.
>>
Am I shit for wanting citrus and ntr animes to fail really hard?
>>
>>2253084
Does it matter? Do you need someone to comment on your opinion that desperately?
>>
>>2253084
No one really cares about what you think or wish.
>>
>>2253084
I don't really know what I want to happen with them. I don't like either manga, but I want yuri anime in general to be successful. I think on the whole I'd rather they be popular, since I think that'll open up the way for better works to be serialized.

>>2253089
Now, now. I think it's an interesting topic of discussion.
>>

>>

I don't want to watch an anime where a lesbian loses her lover to a guy. Lewd scenes aren't enough to make up for it.

People watched Hibike! hoping that KyoAni would deviate from the manga and have an open end, since the het relationships were not a major part of the LN and KyoAni seemed to be amping up the yuri.

On the other hand the het in Kuzu no Honkai is central to the plot. No one believes it will go otherwise.

There's also the differences in genre. Hibike! is ultimately a 'cute girls doing X' show (X = being in a band in this case). KnH on the other hand is an angsty, tragic story and I can see why people wouldn't want to watch it.
>>
>>2253096

>>

>KyoAni amping up the yuri
>Reina literally confesses her love for the teacher and even clarifies specifically that her love for him was romantic
>amping up the yuri
>>
>>2253098
Apparently there's speculation that Ecchan is going to probably sleep with her (male) cousin.
Probably better to at least wait if you just want some lesbian tragedy catharsis
>>
>>2253105
I mean stuff like this scene.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SytMT62GFLs

It got enough people excited that they ignored all the het that followed and still hoped it'd end as yuri.

I didn't bother, myself.
>>
>>2253105
Reina and Kumiko had plenty of moments, small but meaningful, together.
>>
>>2253098
>Dont want to watch another show which the lesbian again failed miserably and then author introduces a new guy to be her new love interest
>>
>>2253106
Where does that speculation comes from?
>>
>>2253098
You're trying way too hard to make this shit popular in here. It ends in het, has het sex scenes and the lesbian pretty much is treated like a fucking joke. Should we also like hentai where 2 girls fuck each other with a dildo at the beginning but end up getting creampied by some fat guys in the end?
>>
>>2251959
Make Shinobi Quest yuri.
>>
>>2253098
Did you even watch Hibike?

If Hibike had been an original the first season would have been considered yuri, with the only thing getting in the way of that being when Reina talks about the teacher.

Kuzu no Honkai has three het pairs established in the first five minutes and one of them make out, and later in the episode they almost have sex.

What is there to not get?
>>
>>2253098
If you like lesbian porn more than actual yuri, that's okay. But don't expect most people here being the same.
>>
>>2253043
No. Yagate Kimi ni Naru is getting an adaptation. That is pretty much guaranteed.
>>
>>2253233
What do you base that on?
>>
>>2253268
Probably the misconception that book sales determine what is adapted into anime.
>>
>>2253071
What are you taking about? KnM and StoPani are great and they are timeless classics. They have pure yuri romance without any baiting or subtext like the most shows today. After 10 years we still don't have any better yuri anime than this.
>>
>>2253285
You probably should have said Octave is the best yuri manga ever just to make sure.
>>
>>2253322
No. It's het in it and art is not that good.
>>
>>2253285
Out of the small number of TV anime with a female protagonist who explicitly ends up with a female lover, those are 2 the worst.

>>2253322
Octave is easily one of the best serious yuri romance manga. The fact that recognizing that is controversial here is simply a reflection of the kind of emotionally undeveloped people this board attracts.
>>
>>2253327
>The fact that recognizing that is controversial here is simply a reflection of the kind of emotionally undeveloped people this board attracts.

I agree with you on this.
>>
>>2253327
That's funny because if the same story happened in literally any other series you'd probably say "bislut" and "dropped".
>>
>>2253115
But we ALREADY KNEW it wasn't going to go anywhere. From the beginning.
I still can't believe the amount of people that simply chose to ignore that, covered their ears with their hands and went "la la la can't hear you" for two entire seasons. It's a fucking embarrassment.
>>
>>2253362
Basing your argument on an unfounded assumption like that only further proves their point.
>>

>>
>>2253372

Worse, actually, since NTR at least has the decency not to show the het sex.
>>
>>2253388
I love KnM and Octave, but Stopani is still trash.
>>
>>2253327
>one of the best serious yuri romance manga
It's not hard being at the top when you have close to no competition in your category. How many yuri romance manga actually deal with adult life?
>>
>>2253426
Octave with het is a no go for me. Stopani on the other hand has some magical atmosphere in it. You know all girls school full of lesbians, étoile competition and so on. I totally loved it.
>>

>>
>>2253430
Fu Fu?
>>
>>2253431

>>2253433
Your new is showing. People did riot when that arc was translated.
>>
>>2253434
As nice as it was to have adult couples in Fu Fu, the manga doesn't really "deal" with adult life. I doubt it would fall under the "serious yuri romance" category anon is thinking of.
>>
>>2253430
>How many yuri romance manga actually deal with adult life?
Poor Poor Lips, Collectors, MuchiMichi, Yuri ni Tanpopo, To Aru Kekkon are all I can remember. Certainly not enough.
>>
>>2253425
Maybe you mean to ask me (>>2253327). I think it's okay and basically enjoy reading it (although it's not like it's one of my favorites in YH). I'm certainly not one of the anons who thinks it's shit or minds it being successful.

>>2253430
I don't think I want to get into trying to talk about how common yuri manga about adults are, especially as whether a manga is about adults or not is not really relevant to being serious romance (there are a few set in school that I'd put essentially alongside Octave, such as Aoi Hana, and in fact the protagonist of Octave was high school aged too for a significant part of it).

But regardless, I don't think it's only a lack of competition that's to thank for there not being much that's clearly above Octave. I read romance drama manga in other categories besides yuri and it still stands up in that broader perspective too.
>>
>>2253451
Just out of curiousity, is /u/'s concept of "serious yuri relationships" and "adult life" just mean edgefests and characters you want to throw into the sea?

Because right before Hibike, there was Chuu2 which is a completely different deal from the source material, basically it only shares the name, so it made sense Kyoani would ignore the source material here. Out of all the currently running manga, we need the following adapted:

>>2254398
Murciélago could become popular, its action/murder side would probably be popular with edgy kids. But I don't know if said kids would like the yuri in it. And I'm not sure if that is good or bad.
>>
>>2254414
Murciélago would also need some sort of pseudo deep message along side it's action/murder to really sell the edgy kids. As presented there's really nothing that fits outside of the dehumanization aspect applied to the criminals Kuroko hunts but the author hardly gets into that.
>>
>>2254417
Was there some deep, meaningful message behind Hellsing?

>>
>>2254418

>>
>>2254417
"Is it possible to rehabilitate criminals? Or should we kill all of them? Isn't that inhuman?"

There it is.
We even have a policewoman who thinks they definitely should kill Kuroko.
>>

While that is there the dehumanizing bit is much more intriguing than some civility vs barbarism that such a argument typically boils down to for that intended conversation level. Admittedly not by much but it would have them ponder if there's such a thing as 'too far', because edgy kids wouldn't really be too aware of it. Unless they were edge veterans.
>>
>>2254414
Wouldn't those kids think 'girl on girl is hot'?

Mandolin. Some people think it has to do with the late South African president, but it was actually about the opening of Berenstain Bears had a mandolin in it or not.

>>
>>2254384
I think there were multiple scenes in the original trailers that didn't show up in the actual episodes.
>>
>>2253078
What does "tries too hard to make yuri more than it actually is" mean?
>>
>>2254384
Didn't like the SS OVAs whenthey came out but after all these years it's still one of the only three adult OVAs for yuri.

>>2254691
You'll understand when you're older.
>>
>>2254691
It means that anon has no idea about what they were talking about.
>>
>>2254691
Ikuhara has a tendency to ignore the plot and characterization in favor of conveying his message and give social commentary, but not everyone is out there to watch show for artistic merit so the shows suffer in the end. You don't have to use yuri elements as part of something greater, you can have just lesbians living their life.
>>
>>2254691
Anon thinks he's being smart when he's just being a jackass that can't just admit to saying >opinions.
>>
>>2254701
That would be true if he had a message.

Ikuhara can't even throw shit against the wall and make them stick. His fans have to pick them up and hammer them in.
>>
>>2254703
You don't seriously think things like the wall of severance, the court trials, the lesbians being bears with an insatiable desire for devouring girls, the exclusion rituals and how they were performed, things being kept in a box forever to keep them pure, or gardens of lilies were just accidentally related to lesbians do you?
>>
>>2254706
Ikuhara could place a pot of chili next to a broken humidifier and you will come up with reasons for why they're related to lesbians.
>>
>>2254711
The symbolism in all of those things is blatant as fuck. Half of those I don't even need to explain, you should just know from the short description I gave.
>>
Basically what a normal person sees vs what an art grad sees vs what the author meant.

It's a nice line of thought, but it also makes hacks like Kojima and Anno "deep" when all they did was throw darts at a wall full of papers with random words written on them.
>>
>>2254714
how about hakuai? it's literally the metal gear solid of yuri visual novel
>>
>>2254714
Are you seriously implying you need a college level education in art to understand or see what Ikuhara put into his work?

Or are you trying to say "art grads" (and for some reason only art grads) look at something like two girls cultivating a bed of lilies together and see a metaphor that isn't there?
>>
>>2254718
He's saying only an art grad would be that pretentious about supposed meaning or lack thereof.
>>
>>2254720
Feck kawf /tv/
>>
>>2254697
>three
What is the third one?
I can only think of Shoujo Sect and Sono Hanabira.

Unless the other one is G-Taste.
>>
>>2254719
But the discussion wasn't about it being good or deep or anything because of the symbolism, it was over whether or not the symbolism is there and if it was intentional.
>>
>>2254403
She won't say because she's just shitposting. Simoun is considered one of the quintissential yuri anime. In fact Wapourif is the only man allowed on /u/ in pictures

>>
>>2254711
>mfw I have a story about broken humidifiers
>>
>>2254748
I was picking up hints that the teacher had a thing for her back in S1. Which is one of the reasons I didn't bother with S2.

The rejection is temporary. It's pretty clear they're going to hook up when she's older.
>>
>>2254712
>blatant as fuck

That's not a good thing, and it distracts from the story when he places so much emphasis on them instead of being able to tell a coherent tale. The guy is clearly obsessed with ideals than storytelling.

>>2254738

>>
>>2254508
Not the person you're responding to but it IS called the Mandela effect and most commonly known as a confabulation.

>Berenstain Bears
The Mandela effect about this show has nothing to do with a mandolin but with the fact that many people recall wrongly the name of the show as "Berenstein" instead of "Berenstain". The same happens with actress Rooney Mara as many people call her Mara Rooney and can't believe they're wrong when it's pointed out to them.

Tl;dr: >>2254172's spoiler is a case of Mandela effect.

Sorry for being an autistic faggot.

Iridium - Fork of Chrome with even less botnet

While I don't disagree, that is not an argument for using Chrome. If all browsers are shit why use a browser that is not only shit but spies on it's users as well?

If you dislike mainstream browsers you may want to try less well known alternatives such as K-Meleon, Brave, Midori or Vivaldi.

Nice collection. My favourite headphones to use at the moment are the MDR-CD900ST for closed and the K712 for open. Sometimes I switch the CD900ST with a pair of MDR-V6s. What happened to A-channel? I looked around and could only find 7 volumes of manga. I don't know how much of it is translated on Dynasty, but by the looks of it, it seems it's pretty up-to-date judhig by the number of chapters.
