That said I liked the rest of the ep, things are starting to converge

I'm surprised nobody is talking much about Log Lady's monologue.

It's pretty clearly delineating the end of the series. Notice how we don't have any more of these loose storylines popping up? These last eight episodes will be tying them all up together.

My prediction is that it'll go like this:

>Episode will end there and we won't have another Douig scene for two weeks
>Vedderfag will have a field day in the intervening time

This really doesn't have anything to do with the Log Lady's monologues. She's talking about the hobos coming back, and Laura is the only one who can fix the situation. In 1945 the rift between our world and theirs was caused by the bomb blast, now it's being caused by the presence of two Coopers simultaneously in the living world. It's an anomaly that's slowly giving the hobos a way back in, and the "electricity is growing" like in the Great Northern because interfering with it is how they operate. We'll be seeing more random visions of Laura now, because she's also trying to push her way back into existence. If BOB is the one who split Cooper in two and Laura was sent to Earth after BOB to stop him, I'm guessing she's the only one who can fuse them back together again.

the glass box was meant to summon cooper and the experiment (Bob's mother) to the real world, dougie was manufactured by evil cooper to switch with the real cooper in his place and a set up of net of assassins to kill him as soon as he showed up. Dougie keeps surviving due to the help he's recieving from MIKE and his arm through the black lodge (they make him win all that money to pay back the creditors, and they help him uncover the insurance scam which we recently found out was orchestrated by Duncan Todd, the very man who is attempting at his life under orders from Evil Coop). Meanwhile Evil Coop's objective is getting Briggs' coordinates; Hastings and his secretary happened to run a conspiracy theory blog which managed to find them, which is why they arranged all the hastings related murders (Dougie's wedding ring being in Briggs' stomach was probably a clue from his part on finding the real Cooper, but that is still unexplained). Ray managed to get the coordinates from Hastings' secretary, but he double crossed Evil Coop along with Jeffries because Jeffries wanted Bob for himself. Evil Coop is now chasing Ray to get those coordinates, while the twin peaks police and the FBI already have them and they're slowly realizing there are two coopers. Meanwhile Richard is doing his own thing which is pretty self explanatory, the only real "mistery" at this point is what Laura's role will be in the resolution of all of this, but all other questions that were brought up have been answered so far and every major character minus Dougie is converging to the coordinates at this point, which likely connect the real world to "the zone" where the Giant lives

I think most people feel "nothing is happening" because they are only focusing on the Dougie subplot, everything else has been advancing at a brisk pace and in fact I never expected to be setting up the final confrontation with bad coop in episode 9/10 already (maybe Jeffries will become the main villain in the last few episodes along with richard? idk)
Dougie's subplot is also advancing but it's hard to notice because it's mostly meant to keep cooper separate from the rest of the plot until he can be freed, but we already established that he and his boss are going after the insurance fraud conspiracy and that the one on top of it is Duncan Todd, the same man who has been attempting at his life under orders from Evil Coop, so they're clearly setting up the fact that they will take him down. I wouldn't be surprised if the original Dougie was hired in the insurance company with help specifically from Duncan Todd, since he seems to have connections with the company already and he is working for bad coop, but I doubt that will ever be actually stated

We don't know if it's anyone specifically, but if it is then it's most likely just the tree. The only specific MIKE has provided is waving his and saying "wake up." It's more likely the tree since it physically manifested near him during the run in with Ike. Or it could be no one in particular who's helping him, and he just happens to have a natural luck buff because he's completely absent of negativity and can see the world for what it really is. The lodge vision didn't pop up when he was in the car with Jade and ducked to grab the key, avoiding danger.

Who's they? The principal and the secretary? They killed no one, and I think you're referring to the librarian who was the one the principal had the blog with. We don't know the extent of the secretary's involvement yet, but she's dead so it probably didn't matter. The principal was likely under possession because he was there but didn't quite remember it happening (aka Leland Palmer) and the librarian was killed by DoppelCoop, because she had the same gunshot wound through the face which he delivered to the principal's wife.

The black and white scene in the black lodge takes place around 1945, like the other scenes we see that are set in that period. That's why the furniture is older than the usual. That's why the giant looks older than what he did around 1989, because he ages backwards. That's why the giant says "you are far away," because Cooper is being either willingly or unwillingly projected backwards through time (he flickers away at the end).

And that's probably why he's missing his lapel pin. We could see this scene play through again much later in the show, when Cooper is actually sent back in time.

Lynch also didn't create the character of Windom Earle, and we've seen that he doesn't like the characters that were created while he was away from the show. For example, Annie: she was in the movie, but she had to be. And what happened to her in the movie? She passed along her message (coop is in the lodge) and the ring got stolen from her. Those two things make her no longer relevant to the plot; her entire presence in FWWM is designed to make her non-essential to any future Twin Peaks content (remember that there was an original plan for a movie sequel to FWWM? Lynch didn't want her in it).

This is also why characters like Josie and Catherine aren't in the new show; despite Lynch having created them himself, he likely thinks their s2 plotlines damaged them beyond repair. This may also be why James has been relegated to a cameo.
