You must watch the original series. Everyone who enters the lodge has a doppelganger. The Arm after getting cut off / formed, Caroline, Annie, Laura Palmer, Leland Palmer, Dale Cooper, The Arm after evolving. Hawk explains that you must confront your shadow self there, and will be bested should you face it with imperfect courage. Jeffries might have a doppelganger also. And the Log Lady and Carl if they went there (implied because of their abduction at age 8 inside the sycamore tree ring by a massive shadow-craft w/ fuckhuge lights), and Windom Earle—but we haven't seen these.

Doppel–Cooper was expecting Phillip Jeffries with a distorted voice on the phone, but then seemed to question it. But who was the Jeffries he was expecting? The doppelganger, while original Jeffries is trapped in the time/space loop in Buenos Aires? Buenos Aires is the key. And the coordinates.

Dougie started out as a copper sphere.
He was made in Mr C's exact image and let free into the world so there was now 2 Cooper dopplegangers.

We believe that MIKE has or is trying to turn over a new leaf. The Red Room has been described as a waiting room in canon sources, hasn't it? I think MIKE is in limbo in the Red Room, waiting until someone (the Giant?) deems him fit to leave. This ties into the ring being the Red Room in a sense. Because I think wearing the ring allows MIKE to sort of ride along with human spirits in their bodies the way we know BOB does, and maybe that's part of his penance, he can only ride along with people if they allow it deliberately (putting on the ring), and that's how it keeps BOB from possessing people - because MIKE is already there. If you die with the ring on, you end up in the red room. That's why Laura is there, and why Dougie goes there.. And there's a lot we don't see in the Red Room, and who knows who might be there.

Of course this is all stupid and wrong because how can the ring be in the Red Room if they're one and the same, and I'm still the anon who hasn't seen all the relevant material.

I always assumed the "one and the same" line referred to the giant being one and the same with the waiter of the great northern, I doubt the white and black lodge are one and the same since Garland Briggs has been to the white lodge and it's described in a completely different way than the black lodge
As per the stuff that is factual, hawk spells out at the beginning of s2 that people are challenged by their doppelgangers in the black lodge on their way to the afterlife, and that's exactly what happens to cooper in the red room. The person must face his doppelganger with perfect courage, and Cooper runs away thus failing the test.
Plus, Windom Earle specifically mentions that he's opening up the black lodge, so there's really no doubt that the red room and the black lodge are one and the same, though yes the specific room with the couches is referred to as a waiting room, but it is still within the lodge. Other than that feel free to watch it and interpret it however you want, it's just a tv show
