I just don't get the Giant scene. What is the Purple Lodge? What caused the Giant to act? It's fair to assume that what's happening in there is not in present day but in 1945, so that's the good spirits of the Lodge fighting back to the bad spirits' entry into Earth? But there's Laura in the golden globe, and she isn't going to be born until like 30 years. And I know that time works differently inside the lodge, but it still don't make no sense.

Dougie also makes no sense given the timeframe, as you would need Cooper to create his copy. And I think it's been heavily implied that Booper created Dougie, not BOB.

It's either the original physical form of BOB, and he's just inserted himself into the Palmer family (the girl is Sarah or Sarah's mom), or something completely different.

I like the theory that it's Margaret and the boy is going to be inserted into the log eventually, but I don't think it fits the established canon.

Bear in mind the Laura orb is golden until it passes through the cinema screen - there's a definite barrier between 1945 and when/wherever the hell the giant is. Given that the very first scene of s3 has the same monochrome tones there's a good chance it takes place around the time that the giant gives cooper the three clues, but even then that scene could be a dream sequence or a flash forward or something. If lynch claimed you can watch the episodes in any order then it would make sense for the show to have non-linear causality.
