A lot of the criticism of the book on here stems from the stuff like that. The real-life historical figures, but honestly I loved it. It made the entire thing seem bigger than just the town of Twin Peaks. The lodge's influence is global.

Honestly I think the town has gotten worse. The old residents are pretty quiet and live simple lives without bothering people, Bobby became a cop, Jerry became a DUDE WEED LMAO hippy, Ben doesn't fuck his secretaries and is an adulterer anymore he's straightened out etc.

I think we're seeing the ramifications within the younger people rather than the old residents of Twin Peaks. Judging by this shot in one of the trailers, Cooper is clearly back with the FBI (judging by the pin on his lapel). This honestly seems like a huge stretch considering the state he's in now and how far gone he seems to be, and the fact that he's been missing for 25 years. The Roadhouse now seems to be hosting touring acts, and seems more like a House of Blues than it does the small bar of the original series. Well BOB is supposed to be an allegory for evil, which is why Lynch frames it in the way he does.

He provides glimpses of Leland's behavior through Laura and Sarah's aware perspective (take the "WASH YOUR HANDS" scene) as a way of demonstrating how in real life the signs of abuse, mental illness, etc are there, they just go ignored or unchallenged. In the logic of the show, BOB is responsible but Leland also holds responsibility for not being strong enough to fight BOB. That struggle is supposed to represent, not at all subtlety, our failure to fight our own inner demons and to prevent them from hurting those we love most.
