Films used to be art or story for arts or stories sake portrayed by people who fell into acting and were naturally charismatic, funny or strong and most of all unique.
Commercialism, franchising and safe bets to off set huge budgets/investments have ruined modern film. Rich twinks, nepotism and "I wanna be an actor and be rich and famous" planks of wood have ruined modern acting
So why do you still watch this bland, boring and predictable garbage that is nothing more than an ad when there is so much more out there already that you haven't seen that you will gain far more from?

There's seemingly always vital stuff out there if you know where to look. But you're right that film is mostly dead now.
I mean, make no mistake, it was always a business, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Motown was a business. It's the standard being lowered though. Probably a market getting too streamlined and investors demanding ever more expanding profit even if it means the same superhero movie for eternity, but at the same time, they'll do what sells, and somehow the culture got more retarded... in my opinion because you always need an inspired / gifted few to lead and give the people what they don't expect but will appreciate. Only the gifted can do that, not hacks working on a calculated formula.
Rejecting the cult of the genius / auteur I think was a big mistake. There used to be a bit more trust in gifted specialists to make decisions, whereas now it's a boardroom working with focus groups. That's why wherever there are no mediums opening up, the creative move there, and it's still a business too, but they are making what they make out of actual love for the art form. Once the hacks and investors come in that gets fucked up, and all the fucking peasants just eat it up.

I don't.
90% of the time I am re-watching old kino or finding old kino I haven't seen yet. Then I wait for the approximately 2-4 movies per year that aren't utterly derivitive garbage and watch those.
I refuse to pay for capeshit and the like. If you pay for it, they will keep making it.

Jesus Christ.
So I'm watching this for the first time (because it's on TV) and I'm actually finding Queen Ravenna a somewhat sympathetic character. She's gone from Disney's hurrdurr jealousy to having some depth, with her twisted desire for youth/power stemming from being traumatised by being used and cast away by men/kings in the past, and being a beggarchild. Am I the only one? Will my opinion change as the movie continues?
It's a good movie desu
Then Kristen fugged the director
Honestly, I kind of like the live action fairy tale genre. Like it a lot more than capeshit.

What was that one guys name that was in that one toothpaste commercial where he yells "BAM!" I think he was a chef. He kind resembles Buddy from cake boss I think.
That would be Emeril "The Pussy Slayer" Lagasse
