What's /tv/'s opinion on madmen? Been wanting to eat in on it -- just finished the 1st episode and it seems genuinely interesting , but boring at times.

Best TV show of the last 10 years. If you reach S4, you won't be disappointed.

It's a well-written, A E S T H E T I C soap opera that isn't really about anything.
About to watch it. What I'm in for?

This movie was creepy as fuck... so yeah pretty good.
ITT: common opinions that you just don't get
>the entire love Lord of the Rings gets. I never read the book, but, to me, the films were just some good, comfy blockbusters with an excellent cast, but nothing outstanding. What I don't understand the most is Return of the King being the most loved film, when it focus on boring characters (Boromir's family, Eowyn), ditches the best characters (Saruman, Wormtongue, the Ents) and lacks memorable villains
>people saying ESB is better than Star Wars. Sure, ESB has more Darth Vader and Yoda but, to me, it is just a good blockbuster, while Star Wars is an excellent Epic/Spaghetti Western set in space. And the scenes on Star Wars (the rescue on Death Star, the entire final fight) are just better than ESB's (I mean, on ESB the most boring protagonists are stuck in an asteroid field for a big part of the movie)
>Temple of Doom being considered the worst classic Indiana Jones. To me, it's the funniest and the best. Raiders seems too serious and Crusade too goofy. And I think Willie is funny!
>Jurassic Park III being considered worse than Lost World. Lost World is boring and a little bit preachy. I like Jurassic Park III more.
>the lack of love, and even respect, Clint Eastwood seems to have as an artist and a director, even on the Internet. I think he is one of the best directors nowadays, and nobody seems to care about him
>how can someone love Raimi's Spiderman trilogy. I mean, Tobey Maguire has a queer voice, sounds nothing like Spiderman and looks nothing like Peter Parker. And Spiderman 2 meant nothing much to me.
>how come people love The Incredibles, Wall-E and Up more than the first Cars and Ratatouille. The Incredibles are just, to me, good capeflick, Wall-E is a boring "love" story between robots that turns into yet another critique at consumerism, and Up is just feeling bait. Cars and Ratatouille seem superior in every aspect
>also, why Toy Story 2 is considered the worst of the trilogy
>>84310615
I like you, OP. I like your opinions. I would have a beer with you.
>never seen LOTR (I just can't be fucked)
> Empire is good (beautiful set design), but you can't go wrong with the original either though
>I think Cars is hated though because it was much more on the nose with its message than the others, plus it's obvious they're pushing for merchandising.
>Toy Story 2 is the worst? who says this?
now mine:
>Why do people obsess over Wes Anderson? I think he's great, but doesn't that hipster twee shit get a bit much sometimes?
The same goes for Baz Luhrmann.
>>84310772
Thanks. You also seem pretty cool

>That's for Frodo! And for the Shire! And that's for my old gaffer!
What? Who was gaffer? He was never once mentioned in the movies and then suddenly we're supposed to have a poignant scene of Sam dedicating his battle to some guy called gaffer who we've never met?
>>84309722
He was talking about one of the crew, the electrician.
>Who was gaffer? He was never once mentioned in the movies
are you retarded
>>84309722
>He was never once mentioned in the movies
He was, when Sam sees the oliphants.
Plus we see the Gaffer in the Green Dragon.
I have never watched The X-Files, am I missing out?
>>84309617

Not really. First and second seasons were interesting, but it got dull pretty soon.
