Where to buy second hand Shinkis:
>eBay, Amazon - generally overpriced, but you might get lucky.
>Mandarake, Rakuten - search 武装神姫 and don't trust listing images.
>Yahoo Japan Auctions, Suruga-ya - you'll need a proxy if you’re not in Japan.
>Taobao - some shops ship international now, so you might not need a proxy.
>Amiami, Jungle-scs - occasionally get some preowned.

Nice colors and dress too.
But please try to fix that gap if possible.
Here's a quick WIP of my mecha musume amputee kit. Still lots of sanding, a bit of shaping, and I need to figure out a good way to make the ribbons. Pretty happy with how these are turning out, but it was surprisingly difficult making sure the stumps attached flush. Working on FAG first, but I also want to do MD, shinki, and Picco Neemo stumps and covers.

I feverishly need this body and headsculpt-- it's too cute.
Would you be kind enough to provide more info?
>>6423236
He has a booth.fm store. It should be linked in his twitter profile. You need to sign up for booth.fm, open a tenso account, read the instructions on how to get stuff shipped to your tenso account, learn how the booth.fm storefront works, and buy the stuff when it's available. You can help yourself with google and google translate with all of the above.
Gonna need to make some cute little cigs for Hornet to hold with that O mouth of hers.
So I'm going to ask something really stupid.
I've done a little bit of resin recasting a couple of years ago, and know that for two part molds you use a layer of oil/grease on the first half before pouring the second half on top so that the two halves don't stick when the silicone dries.
So I lost my recasting stuff at some point when moving out so I just got a cheap mini casting kit since I only need to do a small part. The problem is that it does'nt come with the oil/grease for doing two part molds.
So my extremely stupid question is can I just use something like olive oil or baby powder instead? Or is there some other commom item I can substitute it with?
>>6423272
Just get some 1 or 2mm styrene rods, cut them down, and paint a little filter on them.
Now a cigarette holding hand would be tough.
>>6423307
I use vaseline.

Do Oyumaru molds still need baby powder/vaseline for mold release?
>>6423374
any brand in particular?
>>6423410
Tamiya Epoxy Putty, smooth surface type.
I'm no expert on putty mind you, this is the second time I'd ever used it and the first time was literally just filling a hole in a flat surface and sanding it level.
>>6423436
its good enough! thanks anonkun
>>6423276
I generally order using a middleman service. Much less of a hassle, IMO.
Somebody said that Tamiya or Mr. thin cement would be the best for FAGs, but the store I'm buing them from doesn't have those.
Are any of these good enough alternatives?
https://www.dersockelshop.de/search/index/sSearch/cement/sPerPage/24/sPage/1
I also asked about top coats. This one if good right? Just wanting to make sure.
https://www.dersockelshop.de/mr.-premium-top-coat-flat-spray-86ml_gunze-/-mr.-hobby_gsb603.html
>>6423533
Mr. * is always at least decent; I've never used the premium cans but the basic coat they have is one of my favorites. As for glue, it looks like they have Testors stuff, if you can find their cement it works pretty well.
>>6423533
You can cut the middle-man and straight go for a bottle of Methylenchlorid combined with a Touch N Flow/ Pin Flow applicator, IMO.
I applied it with a small brush for a while now and while it works, it's also kinda wasteful.
And Mr. Products are pretty good, yes.
>>6423276
They're sold as kits and official releases always include waterside decals for the eyes and full-color instructions. (Unless otherwise noted.) My one criticism of these is that the decals are kind of newsprint-y. The 1/12 ones made by hi-q parts look great though (these figures are closer to 1/18 in size though)
He's restocked the blank bodies I think three times now since they released near the beginning of the year, usually around/after toy shows.
I'm not a huge fan of tenso, so I just use my regular middleman (TokyoBuyers)
fg-site's been dead for some time now but I just learned of TINAMI and there's a load of cool shit on it. Just saying.
Apparently there was a mass exodus to that place from fg-site after the latter went full retard with their "pay real money to get points to upvote other people and other retarded shit" system (I kind of drifted away some time before that happened so I didn't know).

They really need to sell a high heels MSG separately.
Hello everyone, I finally got and started building my first FAG, and was wondering how exactly to go about all this seam welding.
I have only ever built planes many years ago, and I would either apply some plastic cement on the pieces after I put them together or I would use some putty.
However, in the event of having to fix things as well as messing up the surface with cement, is that really ideal for fags? Should I just use putty instead in case a joint breaks and I need to open something up?
Finally, what's the best way to sand some of the joints to make them less stiff? Some seem to be in really awkward positions...
Sorry if these are retarded questions, but I don't want to fuck up irreversiblely.
>>6424177
> I would either apply some plastic cement on the pieces after I put them together.
yes thats what i normally do
> Should I just use putty instead in case a joint breaks and I need to open something up?
whatever makes you feel safe Anon
>Finally, what's the best way to sand some of the joints to make them less stiff? Some seem to be in really awkward positions
the best way is the one you are most used to. like always
imo Anonkun probably need to hamfist these things so hard in order to break their joints. and since you already know how to model i doubt that you will be THAT careless. im more worried about dropping these than breaking them while posing
>>6424248
>best way is the one you are most used to. like always
How do you do it then?
I have never made a joint based model in my life
>>6424281
cut a strip of wet/dry sandpaper?
if you really have to sand joints just the elbow and knee and probably the ball joint that connects the head to neck
>>6424300
hornet really a qt
glasses from where?
>>6424304
How often do joints need sanding, anyway? I've never had joint problems with gunpla (except when I broke a hip joint on an HG Sandrock as a kid) but those are Bandai and I guess have better tolerances than Kotobukiya products.
>>6424309
i never had any joint problems on mine to the point that i needed sanding (with the exception of that neck ball joint) people say they break their elbows/knees because it was too tight.
im also afraid that sanding them just accelerates the speed of the wear of the joints and makes the joints very loose later on (which i hate so much) and old koto also hates polycaps which was my gripe on older kits since i was pampered by bandai.
Another question:
Building the legs now, it give me a choice to use a polycap socket or an abs one.
Is there any reason not to use the polycap? Why give me a choice?
>>6424390
color choices, but i'd get the improved durability one vs the old one
>>6424393
I mean, both look flesh colored to me.
Which is the improved durability? I assume the abs?
>>6424405

>>6424417
polycaps
>>6424425
Thanks, wish I knew why they included both since they are the same color
>>6424431
abs' tightness vs polycap's flexibility perhaps?
>>6424446
I think Anon was curious as to which would be the ideal choice of the two.
>>6424490
The ABS joints are the ones you want to use, in any case.
>>6424494
>in any case
ABS to ABS seems like all-or-nothing friction, broken a lot of joints like that.
>>6424499
The polycaps were too weak to keep the hips from getting too loose. The ABS joints were included as an improvement.

how much longer do you think pinkle will be on sale? I got paid trash and cant afford her this check. should I just wait for Otakon? it's one of the bigger cons on my side of the world but i peeped that most american sites selling her are charging 80-90.

>>6424950

Just reposting this since I was browsing through older stuff and saw it.
>>6424309
You don't need to sand the joint. Get a lube stick from the diy store. Uaually it's used to grease sliding doors and stuff. Looks like a stick of candle wax.
I test fit joints and if it's gonna-break tight, I rub the lube wax on it. Very easy to control and it's not messy to use like shock oil. 100% reversible by just wiping it clean.
Been using it for years on kits, Transformers, Hasbro figs, SHF... you name it.

Alright, moment of truth. Raptias or Artille?
>>6425050
Petroleum-free silicone oil should be safe.
>>6425106
Raptias is cuter, Artille has more flexible gear. Both are a little light on equipment for my tastes, though.
You can make little Metal Gears out of their armor, though, so that's something.
>>6425106
I like neither. I really wanted a small body for my collection, but both of those just don't appeal to me at all.
>>6425162
No problem!
>>6425106
Raptias is cute but her hair limits the degree of rotation of her neck. I do want a maryceles or eukrante if I can find them not extremely overpriced at mandarake
>>6425164
>the arrap repaints
iWant.
>>6424647
After both sets of shipping and the proxy fees a single body ends up being about 160 usd. I usually get two figures at the same time because they're small and the ems shipping stays low. The proxy fee is almost 20% which might be high but it's basically what I was paying my friend when he lived there and these are his friends. I used Celga way back when but they are in the northernmost part of Japan so buying anything was always extra in shipping and I felt like they weren't as flexible.
>And now for something completely different.

I don't need to buy 6 WISM and 4 SOL.
I dont...
I... but they're so cute...
>>6425476
I only got 2 SOL because they have a bit more personality so they're not as good for army building, but I think I have 8 WISM now since I finally got one of the recolors off Mandy.
Remember that guy that tried the Mr Color recipe for fleshtone?
Wonder where he is.
Maybe it might turn out right and match the faceplates' plastic color better if he uses white primer, and or reduces the amount of character flesh 2(the pink color) in the recipe?
Pic related, his previous testing.
>>6425476

>>6425758
>Low-profile
Low visibility.
>>6425463
Am I totally colorblind? The faceplates that are already painted seemed to kinda match the default plastic color or at least that's what I thought.
>>6425875
The face plates only have the eyes painted on, anon... the rest is raw plastic...
That said, it's better to just put topcoat on raw plastic and define the skin with weathering powder over full on painting it.
Also
>>6425648
Going to suspect the color is kind of different because the person who took that image didn't prime white. The skin tone looks off because the grey is showing through.
>>6425662
How convenient. The wrist and ankle cuffs are what I was working on today, along with adding ribbons to the stump cap. I also do have a MD nude body started, but that's going to be a lot more effort than just some accessories.
Architect friend here again with one last question:
Everything is now ready for paint. Regarding the flesh parts, would it be better to paint it, then add the grey armor (crack it open after) or should I put the armor piece in, mask it, and then paint the flesh?
>>6425686
Source is Rampage Ghost. Those aren't one-offs, they're the resin kit official "dlc" like the two pack he made for the WISM soldiers.
>my comment about not needing 6 WISM and 4 SOL was the official releases plus 2 additional for the add-on packs.
>>6425931
Well anon I'd buy a few nude body parts sets for a FAG or MD kits as long as it isn't too expensive.
>>6425944
Got a link to a seller?
>>6425933
Masking is an option, but if you're going straight to painting from assembly I'm sure the easier option would be to weld the thigh part and trim tabs on that part that's supposed to slot in between so you can paint it separately and then just glue it in at the end. Assuming I'm remembering how the assembly of that part works correctly.
>>6425965
>I'm sure the easier option would be to weld the thigh part and trim tabs on that part that's supposed to slot in between so you can paint it separately and then just glue it in at the end.
Wow, I'm dumb, that would be a total piece of cake compared to masking or trying to pop the seam to insert the armor piece.
Thanks anon.

>>6425933

>>6425926

>Weathering master H

>>6426275
You're not supposed to use memehands on clear plastic. It could break them.
>>6426318
yeah you can if you actually use them properly
>>6426318
I've heard that, but I've also heard you'll be fine if you're not using the tips like an idiot. I'll check out the instructions and if I don't see anything I'm going for it.

Anyone have an idea which weathering set I should buy ready for brown Hresvelgr and Inno?
>>6425106
I may have a problem. I ended up buying both. The pictures on eBay led me to believe that I'll be getting pretty much two entire sets of each, but that can't be right. Ended up paying 60 shipped for the pair, and if I'm getting 4 bodies with that, that might be one of the best shinki deals I've ever gotten. And then I'll be able to stop using a black blank for a custom mannequin.
>>6426424
>>6426450
The guide in the OP is for gunpla, not specifically FAGs.
In any case, you can paint the flesh parts on FAGs, but it's not really worth it unless you want a specific skin color. The base flesh parts are fine, you just need to topcoat them to make them look painted.

All right, so I paint the armor and weapons and apply top coat to the skin (face included)
I need this, right? mr-hobby.com/en/itemDetail.php?iId=268
>>6426456
*smacks lips*
>>6426486
Yeah, that's the topcoat I use, though I know other brands work just as well. Matte is definitely what you're going to want to use on at least the skin parts unless you want your girls looking like oiled up strippers. For the armor parts, it depends on which FAG, but the less sci-fi ones like Architect and Gourai look better with matte as well, imo.
>>6426489
>not liking sweaty fags
>not imagining operator gourai cruising through the desert in full desert camo with sweat dripping down her thighs and a keffiyeh around her neck
>>6426489
I have Baselard and Jinrai so I'll cover the armor with matte coat too then, because I really like how they look on the box.
>>6426498
Although I'll think about brown Hres when she arrives, having a glossy swimsuit sounds fairly "interesting"
>>6426493
What's the difference? Besides "premium" of course.
>>6426503
>What's the difference
Finer particles, thinner and more even coat meaning less chance of it scratching off, stronger matte effect.
>start doing final prep for painting pieces by giving them a wash
>flex one leg to get to the knee
>CRACK
>seam split on the shin just below the knee
>>6426452
You mean like >>6426278
Where you keep the original flesh parts but add to it selectively with painting?
And painting the leg socks so one is much shorter than the other?
Yeah I'll need to see first how others test with trial and error, it's been raining and humidity is too bad for the airbrush.
>>6426540
I like the way you think, Anon.
Yeah, in that case, you'll just want to paint every part that is or will be flesh-colored just to make sure there are no inconsistencies.
You better post pics when you're done.
>>6426525
oh god that happened to me twice
>>6426503
Would someone please post pictures of glossy swimsuit Hres? I don't have any handy but it looks great.
>>6426583

>>6426503
OK so best I could find at my local hobby shop was Tamiya TS-80 laquer, will that do? It says on the can that it can't be used on decals, but what about FAG faces? Those aren't decals, so it's fine, right?
>>6426062
I'm cheap, I use color pencils.
>>6426662
Cyka
>>6426729
Just get Pledge floor wax. Previously known as Future.
>>6426743
Dude, what?
>>6426744
Future Floor Polish is a popular choice for gloss top coat. Pledge rebranded it, but modelers still refer to it as Future.
>>6426757
But I don't want gloss, I want matte
>>6426541
I don't think it will work out as well as you think, the shoulder socket and ball joint is the part that will wear out the paint job easily.
It's why I'm asking about the skin color paint recipe done right to match the premade faces.
>>6426635
Just do both faggot, it even (kind of) makes sense. We don't need to fight when we can be butt buddies.
>>6426439
Please notice me senpai, when you have the time for it.
>>6426983
check all the weathering sets and guesstimate?
i havent had any time to shop for my brown Inno
>>6426983
Peach from the weathering master h set
>>6426449
Nice. Raptias has good parts for doubling up. Now be careful you don't go down the slippery slope and start wanting Raptias Air Dominance.
>>6426630
Actually, can't you simply apply multiple layers of Future polish? I think Turret did this to his black blank body Shinki.
>>6426729
Tamiya's topcoats are also good quality. Not sure that you wouldn't be able to use them on decals despite the warning, but FAG faces are, in fact, decals. If you're concerned, put a throwaway decal on a throwaway piece of plastic, like a runner or a plastic spoon, and test it.
And yes, Future/Pledge Floor Polish is legit.
>>6426635
how about a kitty?
Does anyone know if it's possible to purchase a spare sheet of Gourai decals and if they would fit and look fine on a Frame Arms Gourai?
I bought a Frame Arms Girl Gourai and a Frame Arms Gourai to display them together but I was not aware that the Frame Arms don't come with decals and I wan't to make them look as similar as possible.
>>6427226
Which is the better figure: Bragg Dusk or Pomokku?
>>6427268
I think you can order it from the replacement part sheet, if you can find someone to go through that process for you.
>>6426653
They still need to be washed before painting to clean off dust from sanding, oil from your hands, regular dust etc.
>>6427280
Thanks, I'll look into that
>>6427167
>tfw I have both Raptias, Air Dominance, and a spare set of Raptias armor.
...I think I might have a problem
>>6427274
Bragg comes with an artillery unit, an assault rifle, a pistol, two machetes, a helmet head and you can use the gun barrel to make her go "NOPE". Pomock comes with a folding wrist shotgun, a folding wrist revolver, a tail and a choker that i didnt notice it existed until i was about to throw the box to the garbage two years after i bought her.
Get both if you can.
>>6427351
>throw the box to the garbage
Why would you do something like that??
>>6427359
Space, i can only have so many boxes laying around before it start looking like a hoarders place. Speaking of which i'll start another box purge next time i have two days off.
>>6426740
this is magic
>>6427274
Just go for the one you like more. Pomock is cuter, Fort Bragg Dusk is more soldier-like (obviously)...
>missed out on the preorders for Cheeseburger
Reporting in on the fabric I bought as promised.
I bought white and black silk duponi from Dragonfly International, a US comapny that sells supplies for making doll clothes and dollhouse accessories. The black silk was a little rougher and stiffer than I was expecting. I'm planning to make skirts with it so that might be good. It is quite thin, so it should work for clothing at this scale.
>>6427558
I forgot to mention, Base is underneath the fabric on the right.
The while silk is much more smooth and has a nice shine to it.
>>6427562
I also bought some misc accessories. The 1/12 dartboard is pretty much perfect. The rubber duckies are a little on the small side, but not too bad. Now I just need to find a decent 1/12 bathtub.
>>6427558
I know that kind of silk, it's nice for making drapes and other sort of hanging things that work well with texture.
>>6427566
In retrospect I should have bought a couple of different kinds of fabric instead of just a few colors, but I was unsure about the store, so I just bought what was on sale.
>>6427563
That ducky looks like the perfect size dude.
>>6427563
Looking forward to see what you make. Also to links but that's secondary.
>>6427620
he put so much effort in and he didn't at least paint the limbs
I'm disappointed
How is this figure? I'm not that much into the MH franchise (yet) but this figure seems to combine a shitload of stuff like gothic lolitas, dragons, claws, and swords though I don't know if the high price is worth it.
>>6427747
Check out JobbytheHong's review on youtube. Short of it: cool designed figure with lots of options.
I've always though it was a cross between Black Gold Saw and Kuroyukihime.
>>6427747
> Dress turns into dragon arms/wings
Now that's cool.
>>6427747
>Goth Magala
I wish MH girls would become a thing.
>>6427747
Actually, I think I now want her more than any Shiniki or FAG, seeing she looks waaaaaaay cooler than most of them as well as having the gothic lolita bonus as well.
So what's the proper method to fill in the gaps on the legs of my fag?
I know how to sand away seam lines for stuff that's mishmatched, but what should I do for the gaps themselves?

I have her and love her. She looks great both in dress mode and in combat mode, though she's actually a little smaller than even Megami Devices. Her dress can also be a pain in the ass to get straight and working properly, but once you get it, she's extra elegant.
>>6427743
I still have no clue on how to correctly get that milky, beige-ish skintone that's default to the faces.

I really, really want her. With AGPs being iffy around that time I didn't PO. Saw her at a booth at a con a few weeks ago at the average going price, but was broke. feelsbadman
I think the only complaint I've really heard are the pink parts being loose.

Neat, I was starting to get nervous.
Now if only fucking Muscuto would deliver.
>>6428723
How many complete casts can one dude make in a day anyway? With all the top gear and while working eight hours a day, I'd imagine about five to six.
>>6428111
Someone just uploaded the Aoi one.
/1089109/4acfc2f2b4/
>>6428898
Cant wait to get home
>>6428836
I think Muscuto's got a factory he commissions to do casts of stuff. There's no way he can get such clean casts like that if just doing things himself.
Where can I find ANY of the Extend Arms?
Fucking Kotobukiya seems to be trying to get me to buy a ton of Frame Arms to cannibalize.
Neat, I found an eBay seller that sells 1/12 x-acto knives. That'll be cute. I also picked up several other totally innocuous objects. (They were selling jumper cables too, but no car batteries.) I'll post when it arrives. The shears have a hinge and everything so I'll get lots of use out of those.
>>6428723
What's in the box?
>>6428989
Figma Nipako has 1/12 scale nippers and airbrush.

Are the tolerances too tight for paint damage?

it is not hard it is just basically chatting with the dude to buy some

The clear blue parts look amazing, the purple highlights look so cool. Can't want to get her together. I've got a stack of MDs to build though.
BD set is awesome.

They shipped my drama CD a week late too.
>>6430341
Me neither, just make an account under a fake name to order and make it clear what name it should actually be addressed to in the dms.
>>6430400
God damnit, all these pictures of the sweet bluray package coming out now... I seriously regret not buying them...
Also for being poor ._.

richigo has been in these threads for as long as I can remember.
From twitter (@chapter0house)
>>6430762
You can rally turn a profit importing this stuff and reselling it? How?
>>6431913
Some things don't get reissued, so that drives up demand as supply goes down, basic economics my boy
>>6431913
Unfortunately, because FAGs exploded in popularity practically overnight, Kotobukiya can't keep up with the demand. Even though they've been producing them in larger numbers, they usually sell out pretty quickly (at least online). That goes double for first runs like Hamburger Ater. They'll get reproduced eventually, but that takes time. Those who didn't preorder and don't want to wait will have to get them from scalpers.
>>6431913
I'm in the UK, retailers over here will charge £80 easily for a cheeseburger before postage, so probably £85 shipped
As long as I can sell for under what they would (£65 shipped in this case) then they will sell.
I paid £49 each for them, so after paying postage, thats only a £10 markup.
Looking at ebay prices though, I could be scalping these to fuck.
Baselard is great.
Also, I really need to start waiting for a new thread to post these.
Eh. Patience is overrated.
