While more accurate than the SDCC version one could argue that its incredibly bland, on the plus side its paint scratch proof

Anyways discuss your feeble has-tak wars and sUpIEor MaStErPiEce collectables vs kiddy mainline retail ®

Time to ask some difficult questions

>mp combiner limb intergration
IF/WHEN this happens, would we like...dedicated hands and feet or would we rather them just be integrated into the individual robots?

Regardless I suspect when we have mp combiners the limb bots will have to be all retools of each other to save cost

>What will the next titan class transformer be?
Will we get scorponok to fight our fort max's, omega supreme to fight our devastators, or will star convoy or some other insane concept show up and crush our dreams?

I've forgotten the frequency of titan's we've been having, is it 2 a year or just the one, feels like yesterday when I fort max but that might be old age settling in
>>
>>6411432
Indeed. Now let us continue the engaging discussion on how CW was shit, Classics OP is the best thing ever, TR is the death knell of the brand and Windblade dindu nuffin.
>>
>>6411438
>Now let us continue the engaging discussion on how CW was shit, Classics OP is the best thing ever, TR is the death knell of the brand and Windblade dindu nuffin.
All those points sound pretty fair, to be honest.
>>
>>6411437
Dedicated, separate hands and feet for an MP combiner wouldn't bother me just because I understand how hard that would be to accomplish without just ruining the limb bots, but I'd like the rest to be integrated into the robots.

A lot of 3P combiners partsform so much it and use so much combiner kibble that it starts to feel like you're playing with bionicles or something, I don't want that from an MP.

Man, the Legends line is so much fun. I love all the little dudes, with few exceptions.

I've got Brawn, Swerve, Bumblebee, Wheelie, Seaspray, Cosmos, and Tailgate, and a few Gnaws if they count. This scale just lends itself to such simple but cool transformations.

Except for Bee and Tailgate. The former's car transformation is aggravating for some reason (the hood portion just fucking doesn't want to push into place somehow without a lot of force).

Tailgat's hips just WILL NOT stay popped into place, and I cannot figure out why. It's the Takara version so the paint job looks magnitudes better and the car mode is great, but his hips just won't stay in place in robot mode.

Overall though the line is great. Cosmos and Seaspray are my favorites but Brawn and Swerve are great for quick simple fiddling.

I believe hand-feet integration is feasible from Takara engineers but they might need to turn back to their pre-MP36 days to make it work.
Combiner team members outright shat on physics in the G1 cartoon and trying to accomodate that beyond just giving them the G1 aesthetic would compromise everything.

Aside from a missing cosmetic panel that is only needed for a complete-looking jet mode, the figure is in pretty good condition. Also, the spring-feet work well as a stand-in for ankle tilts.

>>
>>6412530
Just wait for the Takara version. They always do animation-accurate color schemes, for better and for worse. And they use higher quality plastic. I know people think that's a meme and they shout "SAME FACTORIES" but that doesn't mean they use the same materials. I own the Hasbro and Takara versions of all the original Autobot Headmasters, and I know I can tell you which look nicer.
>>
>>6412536
>and I know I can tell you which look nicer.

The Hasbro, because the cartoon deco's for them were straight up trash. They ruined good molds by doing them in those colors, and tossed away perfectly good heads for those animation faces.
>>
Just Got Seaspray. Pretty ok.
>>
>>6412538
I meant in terms of plastic quality. In my opinion, the quality of materials trumps the paint apps. Hasbro's molds often had more variety in color, but the plastic looked like cheap, muddy shit compared to Takara's.
>>
>>6412538
Hasbro doesn't know shit for coloring these figures.

>>6412536
There isn't really much that Takara could actually change to make it more animation accurate than what I did. Maybe cast the elbows in red plastic, and the teal on the shoulders. If they go super Takara on it, they'd adjust the hue on the teal itself and change the black to dark gray.
>>
>>6412541
>but the plastic looked like cheap, muddy shit compared to Takara's

Funny you say that, because Hasbro Hardhead has proper grey and Takara's has that fucking hideous brown that looks like old worn plastic for their Hardhead. Easily the worst color combo of the cartoon deco'd Headmasters.

Of course, some are better. Takara Blur shits all over the Hasbro version, which didn't even go for a toy deco.

>Hasbro Hardhead has proper grey and Takara's has that fucking hideous brown
I disagree. Hasbro's gray is still "muddy". You seem to just have an issue with the color itself and not the quality of the color. The brown on Takara's version catches light and shows its sculpted detail better than the Hasbro gray, in my opinion. That goes double for the green they used, SO much better on the Takara version. Even though there are fewer color variations and apps on the figure as a whole, the plastic colors manage to showcase the sculpted details so much more. I find this is true for every Takara bot I bought, besides Chromedome. His Takara color scheme is just too bland in both modes, although I still think his plastic quality is much higher. I ended up just popping his wheels off and swapping his red plastic bits because I felt they both looked better.

But whatevs. Agree to disagree. I own both, and while I like both decos for different reasons, I prefer Takara's. Also, the silver details along the edges of the tank treads make the alt. mode look miles better.

Did they not? I know people like to shout over and over that the plastic is identical, but holding both versions in hand, it's just not the case. Hasbro's often looks milky, swirly or muddied while Takara's looks more crisply opaque and solid, and shows off the sculpted detail better.

Like I said, even though they may be made in the same factories, that doesn't mean they're made to the same standards.

>>6412575
Here's the kicker; almost every surface on Artfire is painted. It's part of why he looks so good. Even his hands are painted. But I've transformed mine a ton of times, probably more than any other MP I own. The clearances are all good and the paint is durable. I haven't seen a single scratch or chip yet, besides one or two tiny ones in extremely unnoticeable areas. Similarly, the chrome has held up very well. I've only had him for a little over a month, but he's easily one of my most-handled toys. As long as the QC on mine is an indicator of general quality, you have nothing to worry about.
>>
>>6412575
Not that artfire anon, but the only paint wear I have on mine is on the underneath his feet, which are partially painted black. Not terrible noticeable in either mode though.

The mold is really well engineered in terms of clearances. You can transform him back and form without letting a single painted surface touch another.
>>
>>6412479

>>
>>6412585
>Hasbro's often looks milky, swirly or muddied while Takara's looks more crisply opaque and solid
That has to do with the color of the plastic, not the type.
>and shows off the sculpted detail better
And that has more to do with how worn-in the mold is, and each figure has multiple molds made. If I had to guess, Takara's set of molds are used less than Hasbro's.
>Like I said, even though they may be made in the same factories, that doesn't mean they're made to the same standards.
I've seen people have two left fists, missing parts, and so on with Takara figures.

>>
>>6412585
>that doesn't mean they're made to the same standards
I can't be sure about the specific plastic mix Hasbro and Takara use, but I do know for a fact that Takara is the one that hires the factories in Asia and thus regulates QC for both Hasbro and Takara.
>>
>>6412599
>That has to do with the color of the plastic, not the type.
Well then Takara chose better colors every time, because their colors show off the detail better.
>And that has more to do with how worn-in the mold is
I kind of doubt that. Sounds like something you made up. My Hardhead was one of the earliest. I bought him almost a year ago when Titans Return was just starting to trickle out, and he still doesn't look that great compared to my Takara, which I bought second-hand so I have no idea when he was made.
>I've seen people have two left fists, missing parts, and so on with Takara figures.
It happens, but it's never happened to me and I buy tons of Takara shit. Besides, I've heard far worse about Hasbro's QC, although I'll admit I've not had many other problems with Hasbro figures besides some loose joints, but any Transformers fan that doesn't keep a bottle of futureshine handy is painfully uninformed.

I wonder why didn't they just use Orion Pax from T30. He actually does look convincingly like a young, lanky version of WFC prime in both modes , sorta like Chris Evans in Captain America, before and after steroids. Orion's Axe and blaster would also complement the WFC well.

>Sounds like something you made up.
Same goes for everything you said.

Molds do wear out with use. Putting material into one and taking it back out over and over again will slowly erode the steel mold, eventually making the surfaces a small fraction of a millimeter deeper which makes the edges slightly less sharp as a result.

For example, I compared one of the KO Legends class Brawns with an authentic one recently. Supposedly someone in India or Vietnam sold the digital mold files to a chinese factory, so these weren't recasts. The KO had softer, worn in detailing because the molds they produced were made with a cheaper metal that wears out faster than the authentic steel molds. The plastic quality felt identical.

Now take into account how many toys Hasbro produces versus the more limited runs Takara makes, and it's possible that Takara has their own molds set aside for their own use. Or maybe they still use the same set of molds and one was already worn out and replaced by Hasbro, which Takara immediately used.

I'm not saying mold degradation isn't a thing. I'm saying it's not responsible for the low-quality in Hasbro's toys. At least not the low-quality I'm talking about. What I'm seeing is clearly just a shitty mix of plastic that looks swirly and waxy.

Triggerhappy is one of the worst, his gray plastic is abysmal. It almost looks like it would melt at room temperature, or deform if you squeeze it too hard. Meanwhile, the gray plastic on even the G1 version of the toy is more deeply gray in color and seems more opaque, and therefor reflects light and shows detail better.

I don't consider my fix job for tr broadside to be any good, namely because my paint jobs are best suited to smaller sections, but thinking of doing small touches to this guy.

Rims are easy, silver leaf rims with a gloss topcoat, but what else?

Because the default toy colors homage star convoy I was thinking yellow for the truck front headlights, what about the bellow button for the spring gimmick should I leave that or should I throw some more color there?

What about his head, could go silver leaf again to make it like the star convoy headcrest or should I leave it, rather undecided but unlike the belly button or truck front it'll be easier to fix if I change my mind.

As for the stickers they can stay for now, the shoulder pylons do their job despite the rubbish plastic used.

>>6413026
Don't count a name as a pro, but the leg fix isn't so bad depending on what method.

I put in plastic inserts between the ratchets so now those very destructive springs are what holds him up via friction rather than the ratchets cranking into oblivion, he holds up well but full support of the tail and keeping the legs straight in SOME poses are a necessity, if worse comes to worse I can take said inserts out as nothing gets physically modified, the biggest bother is not having the assembly fly up in your face because of the springs.

All I used was screw drivers and plastic cups, don't stuff the legs with paper that shit rots

Its nearly release and the last promo only shown him with full sticker deco and nothing has changed.

The hip issue IS common (can confirm, forum member of the Australian tf boards), its because the springs are too powerful, you can feel the ratchets power as you frank it, and despite nothing IN the ratchets showing otherwise alot of breakages happen making the legs go backwards from full standing straight pose (pic related, trying to make them go back from here is scary), with minimal play we're speculating the ratchets will destroy themselves eventually because of how soft the plastic is used for the ratchet enclosure.

Takara's possible fix could be to factory cut the springs themselves but then you lose necessary friction unless they do something very different, personally the friction mods work better, rather than being limited to the ratchets you get full rotation

After mp ramjet I'm not so sure, however seeing how the intended audience of their products is alot smaller and more autistic they would have to closely watch what happens during production, I speculate.
>Well it's a personal thing. I find a pimp with a dinosaur ride hilarious

>Thanks, but I'm still not sure if it's worth the trouble.
Either fix, clogging the ratchets or cutting the springs seems a worry, clogging the ratchets is less trouble as you don't need to measure the springs or worry about adding additional friction afterwards.

But if you want a glimmer of safety for him, no matter what version, DO NOT crank the legs from straight standing position ie backwards, and do each crank CLOSELY one at a time, don't go thrashing those legs around, if he feels tight during movements consider concern

Yes he has all the tabs to secure in tank mode even. It's strange that this mode is omitted in the packaging and instructions.
>>
>>6413154
No idea why it was omited, but it was shown in the expos and even had an oficial render and promo shots.

Never move the cockpit by itself. Always move it together with the head. Mine was cracking more and more each transformation, but doing this has so far caused no more damage.
