Discuss Marvel figures of all brands, qualities and sizes.

A good time for Marvel stuff.

What are you looking forward too? What did you preorder/will you go hunt for?

I thought there was only short jacket and scarf? From what I can tell, short jacket has the better alt, Chris Pratt head but only has the guns otherwise, while scarf comes with the Walkman? I think, and the scarf piece in addition to the guns and a different, maybe not as good Pratt head.

Gamora headsculpt looks 100x better than the last one
>>
>>6320934
With the exception of Drax, who I'd say is only okay, Hasbro's Guardians 2 sculpts overall have been top tier stuff.
>>
>>6320921
>>6320922
Yeah, there's one from Vol. 1, which came with the Walkman, headphones, a really bad Pratt head, the guns of course, and the gem/gem container from the movie which I forget the name of.

The one that comes with Ego looks to be the same as the first wave release for Vol. 2, which doesn't come with anything outside of the guns and alt head, though it might come with something we haven't seen yet as well since I don't think it's released. Wave 2 for Vol. 2 is scarf-lord, which has the longer coat along with what I think is a Walkman and a new alt head. I'd say wait for that one, if you want the longer coat look, since Vol. 1-Lord aged pretty badly due to his joints being so rubbery. Only thing you'd miss out on is the gem thingy, really.
>>
>>6320934
Oh think god. I need to replace my other Gamora. Seems like I'll be replacing all of my GotG MLs with their Vol 2 counter parts. .. Except Drax.

Hope to find her and Nebula.

Main problems with the Lego sets is the first was based on concept art and had a fair few things in the wrong places and such! The second was smaller than the first but had a great canopy and nose, It didnt take too long to make a far more accurate one with both!

The hasbro toy is probably one of the most accurate toys of the film version desu

Picked these three up on Free Cimic Book Day at my local comic shop, really enjoying them. Tongue and Angela might currently be tied with Green Goblin for my favorite Marvel Legends of the year.

Darkhawk is the guilty pleasure because I love the look and always liked him in crossover events.

The quality might have to be the best seen on a wave in a while though, not a single one has any kind of loose joint whatsoever.

Because Abnett and Lanning, the creators of Annihilation and the 2008 iteration of Guardians of the Galaxy created him.
Plus he seems like a wacky 90s dude, so why not?
>>
How bad of a color mismatch are the two movie drax heads? I got the new one and he really is on a great body, but I'm not digging the screaming face.
>>
>>6321141
He was a 90s creation.
>>
>>6321141
because the Original Deaths head is just so much better, and makes for a significantly more interesting character, as well as a more visually interesting figure. He's not just a buff guy from the blue man group with a fucked up head and arm.
>>
>>6321199
He's also a lot harder to build as he should whereas Death's Head II was only a few new parts away from being made. Death's Head will probably be made eventually, possibly as a BaF, I would say.
>>
>>6321166
It's apparently not bad if even noticeable, I remember a few Anons discussing it a couple threads back. At worst it might be a touch bit darker/lighter shade than the rest of the body.

He was created by Abnett in the 90's.

Abnett been in comics since the 80's.
>>
>>6321199

Just cause we're getting Death Head II doesn't mean we can't get the original one down the road.

Look at Classic Beetle in the new Spidey wave. I never thought we'd get another Beetle so quickly after the Ultimate Beetle and Fem-Beetle but Hasbro did it.

Hasbro can clearly use some Colossus parts like they did with the 1:18 line to do a Legends figure.

SH Figuarts. The Mark IV is upcoming I believe, but you can always settle for the very similar Mk.VI, which recently got an improved re-release. The Mk.46 (Civil War suit) also exists. Heck, there are a whole bunch of SHF Iron Men, just look them up and pick your favorite.

SH Figuarts again. It's an exclusive though, so prepare to weep over the price. Only downside is no unmasked T'Challa head. The Marvel Legends version DOES come with one, but it's not as good of a figure overall. It's not a bad consolation prize if you don't wanna shell out for the SHF though.

>Ultron
Revoltech. It's a tad on the short side I think, his hips can be a little frustrating, and it's definitely a stylized take on him. But it's still a fucking stellar looking Ultron, and the SHF and Marvel Legends are hideous so....

Can't speak on SHF Cap since I don't own him.
>>

Side note: I would stay away from ML for movie versions of Tony and Rhodey. I've owned a bunch of them and was hugely disappointed by pretty much all of them.

There is, but it's very old...from the Toybiz era. Opinions...vary on how it looks. If you think it's ok and can deal with this coat, go for it.
>>
>>6322501
This. Somehow, the legends team still hasn't figured out how to make proper hips for any of their iron mangs. They're always somewhere around 45 degrees. It's so odd considering he's pretty much their flagship character.

>>6322496
>Black Panther
>SH Figuarts again.
I kiiiind of want to disagree with this, but I'm not really happy with either option. The legends somehow ended up with way more range of motion where it matters, but he looks like a goober in a neutral pose because his arms can't really come down. They even have a pretty similar level of detail going on, the figuarts is slightly better there but probably not to the point of justifying 5x the price. I'm hoping bandai takes another crack at it for the BP movie.
>>
>>6322521
I have to admit, it doesn't look great imo. And is probably not easy to find nowadays anyway. That's a bummer. I hope they do a new figure soon.

The Civil War Captain America figuart is very lackluster, to the point where I just sold mine off.

I don't own that one, I was so fed up with ML Iron Men at that point that I refused to buy any more. Plus it came with Disco, and as you said, can't even give that shit away. I took a look at a review though, and it looks surprisingly okay. It's pretty rare to see a true balljoint ankle on a ML. IMO the hips are too wide-set and the legs too skinny though.

It's the best Gambit. It's a great scult, but the proportions are wonky. However, it's more poseable than any current ML and most Revoltechs, and the trenchcoat hides the hideos shoulders that makes it look bad.
>>
>>6322555
But the trenchcoat itself looks bad. Like, I'm not disagreeing with you that it's the best Gambit, cause all the other options are very outdated or even worse, but that still doesn't make it a good Gambit figure overall. I would personally wait and see if Hasbro makes one. He's about due for an update, especially with Hasbro tackling a lot of the 90s X-Men roster lately.

>>
>>6322895
Wait, were there fucking variant coats? After a little looking around I found this one, which looks more like a bum's old ratty coat, but it also looks WAY better than the shiny pleather coat.

Honestly, I think Gambit WOULD probably wear a shiny pleather one in real life rather than a bummy one like this, but whatever, it seems to fold and wrinkle better at this scale and the arms don't look so damn thick.

Sure, but i can't see Hasbro making a better Gambit.
Unless you have something against Gambit's face, the trenchcoat Toy Biz provided is going to be better than anything Hasbro can make. Hasbro's soft goods are way way way worse and if Hasbro makes the trenchcoat out of plastic, you just lost all of Gambit's agility and that doesn't make for a good Gambit figure.

If you don't like the Toy Biz sculpt that isn't hidden by the trenchcoat, i think the best option will be Mezco making one.

Speaking of which, they're making a black suit Spiderman.

Ehhh...I'm mostly happy with the way most Mezco figures look, but this one isn't doing it for me. The silhouette looks strange and the head is too...boiled egg in shape. It's not a good look overall.

The recent ML is ALMOST good in my book--I like that they reused the Scarlet Spider head, as the low-placed eyes remind me of the way McFarlane drew the suit. I'm not a fan of the pizza Spidey body though, wish they'd used something else. Something newer and better.

So he just arrived. He's massive as fuck so he's using that Colossus buck.
The gun I'm a little sad the extra hand wasn't for, I assumed it was a slip on, but nope. It's just a pointing finger. I love the sculpt, and he's all but perfect, aside from the head articulation. He can't look around much because the hair behind his head is a thicker plastic, but the strands on the front are fine and a lot softer so looking down and turning the head is alright. I love the coloring. I don't have many X-Men figures, but when I get some he's definitely getting posed with them.
Kinda reminds me if something from MOTUC
I would reccomend him if you want a big bulky dude or a kinda larger figure to mess with.

>>
>>6323308
>I really have no idea why they even bothered putting Strange in the Hulkbuster wave.

To maximize their investment in new tooling. The torso, head, forearms, and waist thing are all new and otherwise would've been sunk costs for the SDCC set.

Also, in case you haven't noticed, they've been slowly tooling the pieces for a classic Strange

> SDCC/HB - head, forearms, hands, torso
> Dormammu - cape
> Shatterstar - upper arms

Instead of sinking all that cost into one figure at once, they spread it over four figures and now they can make classic Strange with existing pieces

>>
>>6324417
Probably get a lot of crap for this, but does everyone really think this figure is good? I mean, I watched one review and was enough for me to decide that it was not worth getting even if I wanted too. It's top heavy which causes his whole body to flop around while trying to pose and the shoulders look a little odd. Looks okay sculpt and paint, but I don't want to pay 80 plus dollars for a somewhat loose figure that's difficult to pose.
>>
>>6324443
Is the waist too loose or am I being ocd
>>
>>6324745
How loose is it? Is it flopping around out of control or is it holding a pose?

>>6324698
Are you talking about the one review where it's freely spinning around because it had a defective hole holding the joint? Most the reviews i've seen it has been slightly wobbly but holds a pose just fine. The wobbliness is unavoidable without some new joint system because it's a single revolver joint holding up a big bulky upper half and connecting it to a smaller lower half and the mid torso piece is just a floating piece that moves around and offers no support.

I think the figure is good in the sense you can LITERALLY roll him up into a ball and get him into the most dynamic poses a Venom action figure will ever be in. If you just want an imposing Venom on your shelf and don't care about hyper articulation then there is a lot of other good options.

I gotta say, the Carnage diamond select is the coolest Carnage figure I've had in a long time. They just nailed it. Joints are perfect, color is awesome, just enough accessories, like if you can find it for a good price I recommend it
>>
>>6324749
It's holding a pose, it's just doesn't stay as in place as Carnage's does but I understand what you mean now, it's real top heavy and it is looser with the add on with the multiple heads which confirms that even more. I feel better now
>>
>>6324749
I know you were explaining the other Venom but the same applies to this one I believe
>>

It could and has been worse, anon.

Remember Rocket Raccoon as a BAF?

Remember fucking Hit-Monkey as a BAF?
>>

Yeah, I don't know anything about this version of Venom but his design alone makes him one of my favorite figures.
>>
I'm more of a DC fan and I don't collect Marvel anything, but after seeing GOTG2, I had to get Yondu.

Really awesome figure. His smiling head isn't that great, but the whistling head bears a really good resemblance to Michael Rooker. very satisfied with him, and got him for 5 bucks off at Target

I highly recommend Remender's Venom vol 2. Cullen Bunn continues the last half of the run, but Remender is what really got me into it.

Agent Venom is now my favorite comicbook character because of it.

>>
>>6325267
He only took three figures to complete. Did you want him to come complete packaged with every figure in the line or something?

Also, I'm not sure if you guys knew this, but you don't have to compete every BAF if you don't want to. The whole point is to lure fans of the character to buy figures they otherwise wouldn't buy so they can complete it. Theyre not aiming super hard to make sure you get the best quality extra free shit packaged with shit you're going to buy either way, it's a marketing ploy.

If you ended up with a BAF you think is shit, then either obviously you didn't think it was shit enough to not get, or you got figures that were worth getting either way, so fuck it.

I'm drunk sorry guys lmao personally I long for the BAFs of the past few years, this year has been garbage. Warlock looks cool but is a flimsy piece of shit and every one I've seen so far has at least one limb that is loose to the point it can only hang aimlessly, nobody gives a shit about making bigass wings, and now this GotG normal sized shit. I want a bigass dude or a niche tiny dude.
>>
I love Marvel Legends, but for years now it seems like there's a 50/50 chance every figure I get is going to have at least one super loose limb.

It's bizarre how little quality some of the guys have, if you even straighten their legs out they can snap apart or if you move an arm joint one time it can loosen up to the point it will never be tight again. Does Ray Charles work for Hasbro doing quality control?

How have you guys not gone insane, I know you know what I'm talking about. I got a new Ghost Rider yesterday and as soon as I straightened his arm, it started dangling loose and the joint is like dead. Is there a way to tighten these things? There's no way nobody else has noticed how low-key pieces of shit these things are
>>
>>6325703
pledge
>>
>>6325703
I got a new Venom and immediately his waist can't stay in place, it just swings around as it wants. Also got a Cyclops, I moved his arm down from his head and now the joint doesn't do anything and it can't stay in place.

I read Pledge can help, but the one time I tried it it just made the figure greasy. Maybe there's another way, I'm not sure
>>
>>6325706
What kind because I used the spray and all it did was make it greasy and leave the area looking permanently shiny lol, I kinda just sprayed a bunch on the area I needed tightened, is there a specific way you're supposed to do it?
>>
>>6325423
I don't read the comics, so how do they go together? Seriously interested. :)
>>
>>6325703
I've never had a problem with Marvel Legends until Scourge. His right arm snapped off because the shoulder joint was just solid, no rotation possible.
>>
>>6325670

Just those guns, which is a missed opportunity. I've since given him his 2014 wave gun, which looks more impressive.
He comes packaged with the two pistols, Baby Groot, an extra "shouting" head, and the BAF Mantis torso.
>>
>>6325745
damn. kinda wish I hadn't sold my Rocket now. maybe I can track one down at a target somewhere.
>>
>>6325711
Terrax used to be a Herald of Galactus if I'm not mistaken.
>>
>>6325745

>>
>>6325709
Pledge Floor Care Finish. It contains something that used to be called "Pledge Future", a semi-gloss acrylic sealant. If you can disassemble the joint and apply it directly to the offending parts that's perfect, if you can't, you might still be able to dribble it into the gaps and get the benefits still. Keep working the joint as it sets, you should be good.
>>
I've got Captain Universe and Richard Rider Nova and I'm planning on getting Terrax and Death's Head 2. Which hero should fight which villain, based on comics lore? Thanks anons.
>>
>>6325785
I don't know what Deaths Head II is capable of but I'd think Captain Universe vs Terrax would fit better what with Terrax being a Herald of Galactus and all, but I might be over estimating Terrax's capabilities.

DH2 isn't really a villain, started out as more of an anti-hero, and since has had multiple team-ups with the X-Men and Captain Britain. More of a UK character, despite most of his stories taking place in the US.

Terrax would be a good match for Captain Universe (the lore behind him is a little weird) and DH2 would be an alright stand-in for another villain, preferably Annihilus or Magus.

>>6325944
I'm pretty sure they were reissued man. My Target had them all. Multiples of each. Including Rocket and Gamora. And I've seen this at other Targets I've visited around the state too. If this is an overstock thing it would be on a MASSIVE scale.

I think you're right. I've seen two different Targets in my area have the Groot Wave along with the Titus Wave. Richard Ryder Nova fought Terrax as a New Warrior...but it was actually Speedball that beat him! Actually, that wouldn't make a bad Legends wave, Nova, Namorita, Firestar, Night Thrasher, Speedball, Marvel Boy...

They actually did this design for her Marvel Universe figure, but now that she looks like in da movies in the comics as well (FOR SYNERGY) it seems unlikely. Apparently they've now retconned Nebula ever having hair (and Thanos not knowing her) fully.
>>
>>6326012

>>
>>6325737
Yeah the ones I get that are loose are generally older and probably is because they're sat for so long in a box, with newer ones it's because the joints are so tight they snap
