Got my 2nd ever ML today, mostly because I'll never get a Andy figure from Parks and Rec. Pretty nice figure overall. Wish he didn't have these big stubs on the side of his legs to "holster" his guns though. All they really do is just block articulation.

Also I really had to hit this figure with the ol' hair dryer to loosen a lot of his joints. His right shoulder, right hand, left foot, all would not budge until I gave them a blast of hot air. Is that common with these figures? Or did mine just have shit QC?
>>
>>6247493
you could always just cut em off. if holstering them isn't important just clip em off.

Yeah, I'm thinking of doing that. Or would, if I could find my plastic nippers. Gotta admit, the face seems like a pretty good rendition of the guy who plays'em in the movie.

Articulation isn't quite what I'd like, but I guess I'm too used to Japanese figures that give you extreme bends and the like. Plus, it is a bit unfair to compare expensive stuff to a ML, I'd wager.
>>
>>6247510
you should pick up an x-acto knife at a hobby shop. you'd be surprised how often you use it to clean up little bits of plastic left from molds and stuff.

and it is a pretty good likeness. I kinda wish he had like a smirk or something and not that straight neutral look. part of why I love Drax and Yondu are the emotion they show. plus if you wanted to make like an Andy Dwyer custom you'd need a smile or smirk. though the regular neutral one would make for a good Burt Macklin, FBI custom.
>>
>>6247480
Canadians are a race now?
>>
>>6247493
Super common. Every ML I've bought in the last 6 months (which is a couple dozen at this point) had at least one stiff joint, and some figures have practically every joint frozen.

The nice thing about the ML line is that there are no metal parts. So I just get out a tub/large bowl, fill it with hot water with the sink, and let all the figures soak for a few minutes.

It's easier than a hair dryer or heat gun, since you don't have to man it. Just dump them and and leave.

Some are still too stiff, no matter what, so I apply a drop of machine oil. I'm not sure what kind of oil, exactly, it came with my beard trimmer, but works great.

I'm not the customizing sort when it comes to figures. And yeah, I probably should nab an exacto knife at some point too. For a figure that didn't include a BAF part, he probably should've come with some fist hands and maybe a 3rd head too.
>>
>>6247525
a new walkman and headphones would have been nice. especially given that he has a nub on his belt that is meant to hold one.

Ah, thats disappointing. I got a Wolverine and he was fine right out of the box. Granted, Starlord here is fine after some heat application, but I doubt a kid getting this toy would know that and they would've probably broken it trying to force the stuck bits.
>>
>>6247480
Only in six inch format does Alpha Flight get fucked over.

We got all of the core Alpha Flight characters save for Talisman/Box/Purple Girl/Marina in the old Toy Biz 5 inch line. And the bulk of the figures were released as their own series, on the direct marketing (and were some of the best figures made by Toy Biz in the final days of the 5 inch line)

We got Guardian/Puck/Aurora/Northstar in the 3 3/4th line and Sasquatch from the 5 inch line works well as a stand-in.
>>
>>6247523
>It's easier than a hair dryer or heat gun, since you don't have to man it.

You really think it's hard to hold a hair dryer for 45 seconds? I just set mine down in front of the figure anyway and don't bother holding it.

Which MLs did you have problems with anyway? I buy pretty much all of them and might have to heat up one in every ten at most.

This. The man is a cuck. Plus all the acba faggots buy everything quickly everytime they go up for sale. I regret not buying a few when he first started but they were expensive and not very good lucking back then.
>>
>>6247593
It's not about being "hard".

I don't generally buy one figure at a time, and I have multiple joints to address, almost every time.

So I treat them all. The bath hits every joint. I don't have to worry about pegs snapping like my first run in with Spider-Gwen, whose foot snapped off almost immediately after opening.

I bought the Juggernaut line, except Deadpool. Every figure had at least one stiff joint, include Iceman with a stiff shoulder and elbow, despite every other joint being the typical floppy you get with translucent figs.

The whole Strange/Dormammu and Red Onslaught lines had similar issues. My 2nd attempt at Spider-Gwen, and Yellow Suit DD. Even the new Old Man Logan and Colossus.

Generally they have either a one stiff knee, one foot, or one half of one of the double-joints on the elbows are stiff. Mid-limb articulation,is especially prone to the stiffness on the older figures, probably from sitting on the shelf so long.

>>6247534
Another bonus about the heat bath is that, since it softens the entire figure, you can fix package-induced bending. My Wolverine's head and calf points were too bent, and his claws crooked. Warm bath loosened the joints, then I fixed the bending issues and placed him in cool water. Boom, fix'd.

Namor's just the worst of it. Nobody bought him around here. They're always packed 6 deep, then tucked behind the DC and Black Series and choking everything.

Same here, but there's only one store likely to have Namor in my neck of the woods since it turned out to be either shorted or in high demand. I remember a time when Ant-Man went on clearance for $5 at one Walgreens over a year ago. But now they're all full price. I have seen Ant-Man at Tuesday Morning a few times for $10, though.

I hit so many Walgreens looking for x-men stuff today, things got surreal the 10th time I walked through the makeup section at the entrance. I found a shatterstar though, and he's pretty nice. They nailed the faux leather for his headgear and shoulder pad. Even the little cape is nice, it's very flexible and they should use whatever material this is more often. But man, if there was ever a character that could have benefited from an angry face, it's him.

Also, add him to the list of figures that have the wrong wrists for their weapons like someone was saying recently.

I'm totally buying him just because they'll probably not make another Vulture figure (outside the movie one) after this. What a weird design to go for though. I keep fucking impulse buying marvel legends.
They always look so fucking cool to me and i pick them up when i see them, partially because i know they will be hard to find later.
Thing is i open them, pose them, and add to my clutter. then i force myself to sell them to reduce the clutter.
Im unintentionally a scalper and i feel so bad. I always try to sell them cheap and loose though, even the rare ones, so that i know its going to someome who actually wants it.
Anyone else know the feeling? Sorry for blogging
>>
>>6251419
So you're essentially just renting the figures then?
>>
>>6251419
how much of a mark up do you sell them for?
>>
>>6251419
I buy MLs that I really like but never end up displaying them. I run out of space because I collect a bunch of other stuff, so I have a drawer filled with MLs until I expand
>>
>>6251419
I've got two 5 gallon rubbermaid containers nearly filled with stuff in individual bags. The only ones I sort of regret is what I only bought for the baf part so I don't feel too bad, but yeah, this isn't the best way to go about collecting. I honestly just don't have enough room to display half this shit, if I got a couple more shelves I could probably do something halfway decent with even the d-leaguers.
>>
>>6250664
I like it
I can't really comprehend why people are so triggered by glowy bits. Not sure how else they expect them to keep a classic look while also showing that it is a hi-tech suit because "DUDE I'M BASICALLY TONY STARK NOW LMAO"
>>
>>6251421
Feels like it
>>6251428
So far theres rarely been much of a markup. Depending on the figure i slap them on ebay for $5-$10 and they usually end up selling for a little less than retail. Sometimes they go above but ive never sold a figure for more than $30, and even then it was well under its average after-market value. Sometimes i sell BAF pieces for a couple bucks too.
>>
>>6251452
ok then. You aren't a scalper. buying a figure on impulse and then selling it loose later for retail the majority of the time isn't scalping. buying an entire case or just the really wanted figures in stores and selling them for a minimum 40% mark up is scalping.
>>
>>6251455
God help you if you try to sell them in the BST for literally less than retail though. A dude literally called me a scalper for asking 23 bucks for deadpool.
>>
>>6251464
thats why I don't bother with the BST. best to just find and join a few toy trading groups on facebook.
>>
Revo deadpool or ml deadpool?
>>
>>6251469
Why not both?
>>
>>6251469
I had both, and I wasn't really a big fan of either. The legends in particular felt half-cocked in a lot of ways. His accessories were nice, but also kind of flawer: the katanas couldn't really fit into his sheaths, and he had trouble holding the deagles. He's nice, but I really think he'd have been better on something other than buckycap.

The revoltech is also nice, but he's got some really glaring issues. The neck is waaaay too long and his head is tiny. The way yamaguchi did his swords is straight up retarded too, one of mine snapped at the hilt within a day of me opening him. Also the eye gimmick is a nice idea, but they'll fall out at the drop of a hat.

I ended up keeping the revol over the legends, but like I said, I wasn't really happy with either. It's weird because spider-man is the complete opposite, pizza-spidey and the revoltech are both great.
>>
>>6251472
>having two figures of the same character
>>
>>6251469
>>6251477
Agreed with this anon. If you want something to fit in with ML, go with ML. If you really want a dynamic DP and are experienced with Revo joints, go with Revo.

If you just want a good DP figure, I'd suggest waiting for the figma, and then making the choice between the three.
>>
>>6251480
I have a couple different Captain Americas and two Star Lords. granted I swapped the trench coat from the older movie fig and put it on one of the new ones so change it up a bit. thinking of getting a third once I can find a set of arms that could work for a long sleeve t-shirt look, to make a jacketless version. and other figures I have multiples of that are begins used as bases for future customs.
>>
>>6250169

>>
>>6251477
>the katanas couldn't really fit into his sheaths, and he had trouble holding the deagles
funny, mine has no problem holding the deagles, but he can't hold the katanas tight at all
>>
>>6251497
depends on if you are a toybiz elitist or not. from what I've seen and heard both are pretty meh.
>>
>>6251498
mine held the deagles fine but I swaped em out for glocks. holds his swords fine too but those swords looks like garbage so they stay sheathed. at some point I'm gonna get better ones to replace them.
>>
>>6251498
They were in this weird spot where their grip was juuuuust too tight for the guns, but yeah, definitely too loose for the swords too. It was confusing because the hands are unique molds to him, and they were worse at holding their packaged accessories than most legends.

Pretty much, yeah. Weak knees and ankles, and probably the worst hip range in any modern legends toy. He's also got that thing rhino does where his torso has two positions, and one of them doesn't latch in. People complain his shoulder pads pop off too easily, but at least that's an easy fix with superglue.

Late to the game, but I JUST found out about this Rocket--

I'm really liking him :)

Is it true that Diamon Select will have a similarly articulated movie version?
>>
>>6252944
The neck piece is really off putting.

Why couldn't they've just gone with the Flash route? It blended perfectly with the neck.
>>
I'm trying to make an Anti Avengers team, focusing on counterparts. Who should I put for the Vision and Falcon counterparts? Any bad guys with wings or totally one color / stone-faced like Vision?

Red Guardian
Iron Skull
Sentry
Ultimate Green Goblin
Odin Wave Hawkeye
Sharon Carter Body Black Widow
>>
>>6254309
Only Falcon counterpart I could think of is Vulture
Grim Reaper could kinda work as a Vision counterpart since they have history
>>
>>6253774
No idea if it'll be on the same mold or such, but I'm pretty sure he's getting one, maybe as a pack-in with someone else? I can't remember for sure, but I know there's going to be an updated, way more articulated Legends of his Vol.2 self at least.

Falcon - Ultimate Beetle or Lady Beetle
Vision - Ulton, MS Destroyer, Ghost (Thunderbolts) maybe. Your question made me remember we need an ML Grey Gargoyle.
>>

I cut under mine's trigger fingers so they could slide into the trigger guards on his guns.
>>

wait til we get closer to release to start analyzing. Mezco tends to make changes to the final product that are never seen until theyre released

Same guy with the Anti Avengers team. I'm actually considering Classic Beetle (Vulture Wings Wave) for Falcon and the Thunderbolts Set Ghost for Vision. Can anyone who has Ghost tell me how he is? Thanks.

>>
>>6253635
>>6253681

I like his modern outfit too, but I was pretty okay with the figure. That said, I think it helps that I don't really pose him much beyond making him do hand gestures, but yeah his torso and hips definitely leave a lot to be desired.
>>
How do i go about removing baf peices and returning unwanted figures?
>>
>>6254931
heat and pop. or you could just scumbag it and toss in some junk to fill the spot.
>>
>>6254931

>>

You're both lucky bastards; all the Walgreens/Duane Reades around here are stuck in MCU Giant Man, Red Onslaught, Abomination, & Space Venom.
>>
>>6254931
I've only done this one time.

It was for a Rhino chest piece, and I replaced it with a Green Goblin chest piece.
I still feel kind of bad about it, but my walmart is literally filled with Misty Knights and White Tiger still, so it's not like someone else buying there didn't have options
>>
Is the Warlock BAF wave on retail already?
>>
>>6255148
Yeah. They're scalping the Logans in Salinas, CA.
>>
>>6255030
>Space Venom.
You're the lucky bastard, anon.
That wave never showed up around here at all.
>>
>>6255261
Do you live in the states? Walmart during this past winter had the whole wave for like 10-15 bucks each. Grabbed them there. I've only ever seen spiderman from that wave once.

Yep.
And it looks like my Wal-Mart completely skipped over the wave seeing as how they have the Sandman wave now.

I fucking hate living in SoCal. I haven't seen the Space Venom Wave outside of the Local Toy Shop I go to. every TRU, Wal-Mart and Target in all of my area just have pegs full of Beetle, Speed Demon and Morbius. Same story with the Abomination wave. nothing but Nuke and Red Guardian clogging shelves.
>>
>>6255328
Looking for any specific ones? Looking to sell some and Space Venom as well
>>
>>6255364
nothing I'm in dire need of. Kinda want Miles to go with Kamala and Sam, but the local toy shop I go to has every thing I'm looking for, I'm just always tight on cash and usually use coupons and price matching to get my legends for cheap.

>>
I had my doubts about Mezco. My first Mezco figures were Frank and DD, and they impressed me so fucking much that I decided to take the dive, and get Cpt Murika and Batfleck. Cap is pretty good, although his costume has a distinct "onesie" feel to it, and the belt not being tight on his midsection doesn't exactly help matters.

Batman, however, is absolutely fucking phenominal. I had my reservations at first before I ordered, but reviews were stellar across the board.
>>
>>6255364
What do you have anon? Im looking for spehss venom electro and ultimate Spidey. As well as a few others from that wave. Email me pls

the one for Cap is the same one that has come with at least 2 other MCU Cap figures and the Stark one is meh at best. still not as good as the sunglasses one.
>>
>>6255608
I still have no idea why they haven't gotten it yet. seems really weird that they haven't. I mean fucking Diamond Select did why can't Hasbro? every other MCU figure has at the very least gotten a decent to passing likeness, except for Chris Evans. even the shitty Star Lord from the first movie looked sort of like Chris Pratt.

Will Hasbro every perfect an actor's face perfectly like Toy Biz once did?
>>
>>6255629
I'd think they have already. Both Movie Drax look like Batista, despite the thousand yard stare the Movie Gamora does look like Zoe Saldana and the new Star Lord is a pretty good rendition of Chris Pratt, but the best one is Yondu which is about as close to a perfect likeness as you can do with a 1:12 scale figure that doesn't cost $50+.

Detractors in the pack
>same Cap we've had for two waves, still no alt hands for Cap
>brown paint all over Cap and IM, but only on fronts
>Spider-man has no alt hands, has sloppy black wash for webs
Positives
>Unmasked Tony head
>extra repulsor blasts
>spidey is alright

I got my 3-pack for $15 on clearance at a Target. This is the only way it's worth a purchase. If you plan to spend more than that, save yourself the disappointment and get different Cap and Iron Man figures, and wait for a different/better Spider-Man to come out.
>>
>>6255597
It isn't worth the $60 asking price. I picked mine up from Walmart when it was like $20. It was only worth it then because it's the only MCU Spidey we've got for now. Dunno if I'm going to replace him with Homecoming Spidey, we'll see. The effect parts that come with Iron Man are nifty but other than that the Cap and Iron Man figures are kinda worthless.

I'm glad I sold that piece of shit for 60 bucks a few years ago. I do miss doing shit like this though.
>>
>>6255613

Cause Evans and Ike don't get along. He refused to sign it over to childrens toys and only to adult collectibles. He gets a premium from diamond and hottoys. RDJ also gets a premium for iron man sales. No other actor involved gets shit. I don't think directors do either. Michael Bay on transformers would get some toy sales money, Ike fucked people out of money that other companies make deals for.
>>
>>6256143
is there anywhere i can read about this...???
>>
>>6252694
Anyone? I used some loctite on it, but it came apart after like a day. Moving the arm forward at all makes the piece flex, and I guess it puts a lot of force directly on the point where they connect.
>>
>>6256364
What you're gonna wanna do is to heat a butter knife with a lighter, until the tip of the knife is really hot.

Then, Quickly take the knife and melt both the scarf, and the shoulder pad in the areas where you wanna fuse them.

Hold the pieces together for 30 seconds, and you're good to go.

The guy's making shit up.

It's unavoidable to not sign away their likeness rights the moment they sign their movie contract.
Even RDJ who renegotiated his contract in his favor still has to sign them away as part of the contract.

IF the likeness isn't good, it's wholely on the sculptors ability, not anything else.
>>
>>6256728
Nah dude, there's a difference between a face sculpt being off the likeness, and a sculpt not being in any way based on the actor, like the Cap figures.

Not saying there's any truth to what that anon was saying, but the MCU Cap headsculpts are very clearly in no way trying to look like Chris Evans.
>>
>>6256740
I'd post so many examples of shitty sculpts that are supposed to be actors, but it would butthurt a lot of people by bringing them up.

So have a universally reviled company's mediocre efforts that look nothing like the actor despite the license containing the likeness of the actors forever and ever.

Using a movie design is always going to cost the same amount whether it has the actor's likeness or not. A really shitty lawyer had to have made a big mistake if the license doesn't include likeness rights, at least with modern movies and tv shows.
>>
Just to get a consensus: which 6-Inch Legends Vulture are you guys planning on getting this year: the comics 2-pack, or the MCU version?
>>
So we're getting a homemade Spider-Man costume from Marvel Legends and Hot Toys, and after seeing the 2nd trailer, it looks like it plays a bigger role than we originally thought.

You think we'll get an SHF for it? Along with the Stark Spider-Man suit?
I fucking hope so. Goofy costumes are my fucking purpose.
>>
>>6256833
I'm going to get the MCU version. I've gotten to a point where I just highly prefer the MCU figures just because of how much more detail you get with their sculpts.
>>
>>6255597
I got three for $10 each last Christmas and gave the Spideys to my friends, keeping one for myself. At this point it isn't going to be that long until we get the Homecoming Spidey with interchangeable hands, an unmasked head and proper colors and spider symbol so I'd just say wait for that
>>
>>6256833
If I decide a Vulture is really something I need, the comic 2 pack.

But I'm not sure I want a Vulture at all and I already have two Ultimate Peter Parker Spider-Men and definitely don't need a third, so I might just not get either.
>>
>>6256833
MCU Vulture
I've always kind of hated the Vulture, but I love the movie design for him, and the huge wings are real menacing.
