But I like the mold, I like what it turns into, I mean people like g1 powermaster optimus prime over the new TR/legends versions you know despite being a brick.

That and I asked you guys your thoughts and all that was bad was articulation, otherwise it does the job.

Honestly the classics/generations lines were my favorite, I'm still looking for the optimus prime from the classics range for a reasonable price (and before you say it, nope I don't want a red nerfatron, already got one and very much loved in his current deco thank you, my first shellformer)

While I'm here gonna post some comparisons between legends and TR figures in packaging.

Wheelie gives me mixed vibes, his prototype pics had painted shins, quite clear they don't stand out as much and is quite "bland" in comparison to the TR version, that said something about the TR figure just doesn't sit well for me, I honestly say get the hasbro one, the qc ain't gonna be any better between the 2 since the alt mode lacks the support to prevent the crumble effect when pressure is applied

Forgot to add, loudmouth's repaint into goshooter is the best part of the package, same here for rewind.

Sure rewind had gun metal grey shins over silver and slight slithers of extra paint, but because of the design of the head the "anime accurate" eye repaint looks like crap, once again its highly apparently these were mostly hasbro designed (or least in concept, clearly this mold is IDW rewind), also

>neither is color accurate

I thought he was supposed top be white, not grey?

Again though the nightbeat repaint is amazing, takara got smart and stuck to nightbeat rather than force a minerva out of it, is it worth buying him, nah, I own the hasbro one and he's fine, only buy legends rewind if you have legends blaster

Posting this because why not, the difference is all in the head and again, buy legends if you started with legends

>>5923508
Most of the color breakup lines with the shins and alt mode, and its not as drastic as the TR version.

I admit I got the legends version because the orange sections on the hasbro version just don't sit well with me, but once again, it ain't accurate, I can only guess painting the hands was a worry

But hay, I'm hoping its not too orange in hand, either way I'm not happy with the wheelie in color, I honestly am starting to regret passing up on buying the TR version which is on sale here

And now blaster.

His deco is amazing on the takara version, but that white head (even the sides of the head are white, hasbro has them in black) leaves mixed opinions, that and keeping the toy-esqe helmet rather than retooling him makes me think they allocated budget solely to the main headmasters characters and legends ginrai.

I bought hasbro blaster just because it works and he was on sale, but I would of gotten the takara one otherwise, one good thing to note is no matter which version of blaster you're in for a fun time, only way to one up this now is a masterpiece

They won't be unless its an mp, and the mp would give mp bumblebee a run for his money.

Takara's tried, using the clear canopy gave them a chance to "hide" it mid transformation, and the lower section of wheelie came damn close, but oh so far, its very much clear these were designed with hasbro's toy aesthetic in mind, as TR wheelie is pretty close to g1 toy accurate (save for the dark canopy which is just a cost cutting measure to give him black wheels on the same sprue AND transparency, not that it failed in the looks department)

From what I seen they aren't too bad, they focus on large uses of plastic colors, so far the worst paint fuck ups belong to skullsmasher (the g1 toy tampo on his croc side looks like a badly placed sticker that melted, I'd show this but I'm repainting it, just waiting for the rain to fucking stop), and of course the blandness of scourge and blurr.

If you REALLY want them might as well go online, but if you want to keep with the budget might as skip, I watched 5 reviewers on hasbro hardhead and the rest, and seeing them in hand has convinced me (apart from my skullcruncher) they won't deviate too far, these aren't like neca/mcfarlane figures where you need to study them closely before picking the best one from a fresh carton

Good luck anon, may the tf gods be kind to you

>cheapest with exclusive rebirth cerebros head
>glorified "exclusive"
>overpriced redeco of above exclusive

I regret getting the sdcc version, the toy despite being a retool I don't regret, its just a few little issues, poorly applied factory stickers, bland deco on the sword, and the paint apps for the japanese "fortress" head are sloppy (we make fun of takara's headmaster crew but those guys weren't just dunked in paint).

Only good thing about my sdcc was he "was" cheaper than retail rrp before a massive sale came by.

>>
Does the retail Fortress Maximus have any issues? I remember someone mentioning something about Cerebros having issues, but I'm not sure what they were.
>>
>>5923583
They work together in the basic design phase and the whole "make it from paper to plastic", but the designs take design points from toy aesthetics, blaster's helmet design is g1 toy inspired/marvel comics, rewind's head doesn't really allow for the red eye paint detail properly as its clearly designed for he IDW design.

This is just what I noticed now with TR, but it may of been around alot earlier from combiner wars (but since alot of them are head only retools its harder to judge, that and IDW made their moves on them later)

If takara wanted too, they could of retooled blaster to have a more "open" helmet akin to sixshot, but they didn't

Oh well you're right that Hasbro's team seems to be in charge of the "paper" phase. It's always been like that though. From Henkei to United to Legends and Unite Warriors, and every official line in between, Takara usually just decides on what deco to use on the existing toy designs.

It's actually weird that TakaraTomy started doing their own molds and shit. Understandably, their market expects motorcycle Groove and shuttle Blast Off, and I guess that necessitated the new Deluxes.

It's interesting that they're doing even more with these Headmasters figures though. With the new heads on the actual HM characters, and the new tooling on Ginrai, maybe Takara just wants to further establish the differences between the cartoon and anime characters.

Or maybe they thought Blaster and Rewind had close enough sculpts that they didn't need to make new heads.

>It's always been like that though
Fuck, just realized, looking at some of my generations toys, I mean the japanese wouldn't of given straxus a straight up toy until hasbro made use, just funny he got to keep his name in the united line

>It's actually weird that TakaraTomy started doing their own molds and shit
Well they do design the mp's first and foremost for their consumers (Japan) with hasbro cherry picking a few here and there, their market would not of been happy with the hasbro offerings.

>With the new heads on the actual HM characters, and the new tooling on Ginrai, maybe Takara just wants to further establish the differences between the cartoon and anime characters
Well takara's differences has been MOSTLY anime accurate, my assumption is kids want something that they seen on tv and want *that* in hand which also appeals to adults, hasbro on the other hand slaps on a g1 deco (or an attempt, looking at blurr and scourge) which only veterans would recognize, and kids would supposedly not give a shit (which they do, since the peg warmers are in shades of blue).

>Or maybe they thought Blaster and Rewind had close enough sculpts that they didn't need to make new heads.
They managed to squeeze in rewind's red face paint but they kept the plastic grey rather than which is strange, I initially presumed they may of retooled the TM head for blaster so the helmet isn't necessary (since its white with blue eyes which is accurate) but they kept it the same.

Which leads me to believe the pack in comic would come up with an excuse, the excuse being the same as the other characters,
>they got shrunken down so now we give them new transector bodies to make up for it
Hence why the headmaster figure is in twincast colors, the body is a prosthetic that can be repurposed as a "powered up" blaster, keep in mind this is theory/why they cost cut and thrown all their retooling budget into ginrai instead who is a prominent character who deserves justice
>>
>>5923685

It's weird, though. Where did that retooling budget come from? It seemed to materialize out of nowhere when Deluxe Groove was first revealed.

Did Takara ever do their own thing before? Honest question. All I remember is that they released Senator Ratbat, but I don't know if that counts because Scourge's Hasbro instructions clearly show the bat head being there in the first place.

For ratbat it may of been pre-planned in the molding phase on the same sprue but may not of gotten used, much like the demolisher head on onslaught (but ratbat was strange, that's an idw creation, I know the japanese read those too but...really?)

Think they also did prime breakdown, supposedly because hasbro found it too expensive, perhaps tf's are even bigger in japan than we thought, maybe takara is willing to throw money at something to make it sell over hasbro's nostalgia factor

Its not a literal repaint though, the hasbro version has a new head, and takara can potentially tweak it.

>>
>>5923847
These ones are a bit more open to debate.

We got tailgate because of the hype at the present time of release I presume, windcharger was a straight up new head retool that didn't really do him justice, the missing 3 seekers could of been packed together but instead takara aimed at newer molds that better fit characters (the tav line's powerglide, insecticons etc).

And a better theory for all of those (and more importantly, the leader seeker's) is takara is chasing the curtain tails or the hasbro releases, remember the last 2 legends before TR hit were skids and springer (which were kinda random especially since legends springer was takara's SECOND springer), once tr came they may of outright dropped plans for them and weight straight into TR based molds.

I honestly like to fit the leader seekers into my "shit retool doesn't suit them" theory but chasing hasbro's hype is a better fit

I just finished that Combiner Wars series, holy fuck I need to rant about this. Why the hell did Combiner Wars suck so bad when it shouldn't have? The toyline was mediocre, the comics were just SPACE POLITICS, and this Machinima series was the worst. They hyped it up for absolutely nothing. When I was at a panel, they said that there "wasn't a frame in the series without a combiner punching another combiner". Obviously not to be taking literally, but that still implies that there will be more than 4 combiners, with only one "fight" in the first episode. Like, what the fuck.

And then that horrible "teaser" for a Titan Returns series was almost a middle finger.

>Metroplex out of fucking nowhere
>"Now, the Titans have returned."

I mean they might have well just said "Truly the Titan Returns." if they were going to end it in such a bad way. At least Titan Returns is coming out so much better than Combiner Wars in every way, but I definitely don't want to see another shitty Machinima like this one.

>The toyline was mediocre
The only good toys were the original intended cast of said molds (aerial bots, stunticons etc) and even some of them had issues (menasor shittier motormaster less shittier), it was nostalgia that drove the line, and the forced combiner peg would of limited mold variance (you can only change so much body wish with that big thing in there), you're spot on about the comics (least it wasn't ghost in the shell/evangelion like, they knew their audience wasn't that cerebral), the fact cybertron is "at peace" meant they needed to focus on other aspects.

But anything machinima is doomed to fail, craptacular animation, characters not even being accurate to existing media DESPITE being tagged as the combiner wars series (windblade being blood thirsty, megatron being a triple changing brute and starscream ACTUALLY fooling people, what the fuck).

If it was a new universe, no one would of cared, but at least it wouldn't let you scratch your head trying to work out what the fuck they were doing, I'm used to transformers being a giant toy commercial but this was aimed at young retards who just wanted action and dumbed down characters.

Also question for people, who here was pissed Petter Cullen didn't voice shittimus prime in this series (I named him that because this prime did literally nothing), be honest, I know at least one of you here is crying because our hero didn't voice our hero in a series that would bring shame upon him

They are the best combinging transformer toys we had in years, and that's not a good thing, and we can spend all day picking apart devastator (without adding the takara vs hasbro changes which affect gestalt and stand alone figures).

>Also no one forced anyone to buy the repaint waves

And then we give up hope on the brand and fuck off elsewhere.

Look, I'm a seeker collector, I fucking love these bastards, only because they were given proper establishment, and some retools I'm fine with, hell I bought UW menasor AND bought hasbro's optimus maximus wave (sales are one hell of a drug), I honestly think they still could of done better here, with shit like not blastoff (don't argue about "he fits the theme better", he's still a lame redeco), the car-former retools (not even a new body plate between the offroad retools, really?), we aren't forced to buy the repaints and new head retools, they still could of done better, infact alot of the line WAS mostly retools and redeco's.

We got the superion body, menasor body, defensor and skylynx body, we virtually got only 4 voyagers with bare minimum retools between them, the leaders were fucking shit (megatron body then nothing but repaints, they could of mixed up the leaders by having maybe one more leader body, granted I'm not a fan of the leader seeker retool so I admit bias), and the deluxes...

>jet body
>offroad body
>race car body
>breakdown body
Some got great retools, others, or should I say, MOST of them only got new heads.

I liked the line but its quite clear hasbro decided to test us and really cut back on budget, which is why I have alot more faith in TR, 3 waves, apart from qc we haven't had too much of new hat syndrome, yet.

Yes I'm aware of mister orange and breakaway, but even toys I don't want like soundwave impress me because of how distinct they are.

All in all, cw was fun, combiners worked and looked they part, but their individuality was minimal compared to TR
>>
>>5923877
That's not really saying much. Devastator and Bruticus were top-tier, but everything else starts to fall apart after that as the induvidual figures really started to suck, especially when it turned into nothing but retools.

>>5923901
Because there are only 2 options for Computron, and if you want Superion, your other option is Power Core Combiners or Energon. Great options.

The reason Combiner Wars was mediocre was because so much was sacrificed for combined modes, and they weren't even great in most cases, like Menasor's problems or Sky Regin. Then there were bascially no cons compared to almost 3 Stunticon releases, and the individual molds weren't that stellar.

These are some valid points, and I can see how the repaints/retools could get exhausting. However, if you look at the "canon" combiners and just ignore the OC combiners (Galvatronus, Optimus Maximus, Sky Reign, Victorion, and MegaEmpress), then it shouldn't be THAT tiresome to see some repaints/retools.

Superion - Great all around. Transformations were pretty boring, but so were the G1 figures. But, if you choose to ignore Alpha Bravo and put in Slingshot, you already have a combiner with two identical limbs. So that kind of sucks.

Menasor - This guy suffered from a REALLY shitty torso mode. The individual bots are good, but again, if you replace Offroad with Wildrider, you're stuck with two of the same molds. This set is pretty shitty, IMO

Defensor - Great set all around. Rook is awesome, and you can still get a proper Groove. What's not to like about this set?

Bruticus - Another good set. The problem is the fact that while a lot of people could stomach Blastoff as a Jet, Hasbro couldn't even be assed to remold the head or at least use the Airrade mold. Also, the UW Blastoff is shitty...so yea, there's that. Still, in combined mode, Bruticus is damn solid.

Computron - Yes, he's made up of a bunch of retools and redecos, but he looks almost exactly like the character. The UW version is made up of 5 REALLY great molds that come together really well too. The only drawback to this guy is that he's made up entirely of remolds and redecos...but he's still a really good representation of the character, and the best modern day Computron out there (and I'm including the 3rd party figures in this).

Lio Kaiser also looks really good to me, but I have no prior knowledge of the character. He just looks cool. Plus, I think the Sky Lynx torso looks great. I don't own Sky Lynx though, so maybe I'm missing some type of QC that he suffers from.

Ah here we go. I had one on my instagram.

With MM's legs turned like this normally you'd either have to have his legs extended some or have them folded and just straight down which makes it harder to get a natural stance. MM's thighs are square so there's no room for them to turn when they're folded up. But if you trim some out of his lower legs then his thigh joints can rotate in this position and I think it looks better overall. Certainly better than the official leg mode.

Easy steps: be sure the parts to paint are clean, even if you just took it out of the blister clean it wit hot water and soap, dry it and let it rest a few mins to let any extra water evaporate, be sure to use clean brushes and thin your paint, use several coats leting it dry between them, then just use clear acrilic to seal it.

Damn shame, because that doesn't stop me from voicing it out loud, or repeating myself, like here:

That paintjob and that headsculpt is ugly as sin and "Tankette" or whatever the autists at Takara want to call it is a lolsorandomamirite addon given to the Deluxes to give an excuse to double their price and because Takara are too retarded to understand what Hasbro are doing
>>
>>5924689
>Damn shame, because that doesn't stop me from voicing it out loud, or repeating myself, like here

Well that is what you call freedom of speech but that also means I have the freedom to tell what you are saying is only an opinion and not a fact so people are free to do what they want and if they so choose to buy the Japanese version.

You cannot say that you believe in freedom of speech but only your speech has a freedom to be said. It goes both ways. So yeah you can keep voicing your opinion and I will keep voicing mine. I like the toy and that is all what matters to me.

>Takara are too retarded to understand what Hasbro are doing

I am completely fine with the titan master mini vehicles being added on. It gives me some more playability with my toys right off the box. I can choose whether to make the little Hardhead ride the mini tank or his main tank.

By the way, have you seen one in person or are you just going on a tangent from what you have seen in YouTube videos and pictures? I usually find that in this thread some people that complain a lot about stuff have never seen the items in person or even owns it and that their opinion are usually just a repeats of what they have read or heard to justify them not owning the item.
>>
>>5924712
Sure, I'm not telling you to stop buying manure, I'm only telling you I don't like manure. Makes sense or no?

Look at the tank. See those rounded grooves where the hands of the TM are supposed to go? Notice how Hardhead's TM's hands don't match up? Take Terri-bull and put his hands in the exact same position. They match up.

Takara doesn't even notice small details like this and yet the pride themselves and market themselves as a "premium" company. What a load of shit.

My opinions are based of my personal experiences and not because I just want to shit on somebody or to hide my insecurities about being a have not.

There are better ways to do it and this is not one of them. Most of the time trolling will not get your point across. I am getting too old to care about people trolling that is why I just type long responses to try and make sense instead of short vague and hostile replies that is meant to bait people into an internet fight instead of actually making a proper conversation.

>Why do I need to post pics again? As far as I'm concerned I'm merely voicing my opinion.

Yes an opinion that is completely meant to be hostile and unfounded and because you did say you were just shitting on my taste that means your opinion holds absolutely no weight at all.

Why are you dodging the subject of posting pictures. Post your Titan Returns/LG Headmasters and prove to me that your opinions really do have weight to them because you know what you are talking about and not just trying to get a rise out of me.

>If you were truly as nonchalant towards it as you claimed you were multiple times then you'd have stopped responding ages ago.

Because I am trying to have a conversation with you. I want to really know why your opinion should have THAT much weight. Your are dodging my response by shifting the conversation back to me without even really replying.

>I don't have to touch something or own something to know it's shit, the same way I can take a look at BTS Sonicron and say "it's shit". It looks ugly, therefore it is ugly and is shit.

So you do admit that you don't own the item therefore you only are just basing all your opinion based on an internet picture and not by actually handling or seeing it in person? I know how it goes because I am also human and I tend to judge stuff from how they look on the outside first before actually learning everything about it.

Continued to the next post because I really want to know your thought process for wanting to shit on my taste or the taste of others and not give a proper response when confronted other than greentexting and basically saying "It is because it is so shut up."

Continued

>And how is this trolling again? Because you disagree?

Because you just admitted it by saying that you were only replying to me because you were trying to to shit on my taste. If that is not trolling then WHAT is trolling to you?

From a quick Google search for the definition of trolling:
Troll
trōl/
verb
gerund or present participle: trolling

1.
informal
make a deliberately offensive or provocative online posting with the aim of upsetting someone or eliciting an angry response from them.

So is this not what you were doing?

>You need to try harder than that

I'm sorry but try harder with what exactly? I am quite sincere about my questions and replies. I have no shed of aggressiveness towards you at all. I just want to know your real opinions because the moment you did say you were shitting on my taste you were admitting to not only just trolling but your opinions don't hold much weight. Because if it was your real opinion, you don't have to shit on my taste to get it across.

So please do explain all of this to me as well with big boy words. I really want to know.
>>
>>5924834
>>5924834
I accept their flaws myself that is why I still could buy stuff even though people completely bitch about them. I am not ignoring them, I merely set them as a point of where to be careful when handling the item.

>>5924832

Congratulations, you're right, my opinion has no weight on its own. Rather, it is you who gives it all its weight. If you didn't care so much, my opinion wouldn't be worth jack shit. But thanks to you replying nonstop to me and repeatedly getting triggered now my opinion is extremely important. All because of you.

You're right, it's unfounded because hint hint, it's a fucking opinion. It doesn't need justification, and I don't need to post photos of my TR collection (not that I want to dig everyone out compile them all in one photo anyways) to prove that my opinion is of any importance.

So do I need to eat a bag of shit to know that it tastes like shit? Do I need to look directly into the sun to know that its blinding? Do I need to touch a burning flame to know it's hot?

Fucking tard.

>>5924853
Except that, once again, this is my opinion. Offense is taken, not given, and as far as I can see you're taking as much offense from my post as a single mother niggress takes coca cola from a Mcdonalds drink fountain.

You are quite sincerely retarded. You make blatant assumptions, believe that "opinions must be justified" and don't fucking understand the concept of subjectivity. I don't fucking want an "intellectual and proper conversation", you fucking fedora, I want to voice my opinion and end it there.

The opinion is only as important as the person that owns it, and thanks to you my opinion is now extremely important.

But thanks to you replying nonstop to me and repeatedly getting triggered now my opinion is extremely important. All because of you.

You only answered one half of it and the other just went into ramblings that is blaming me for asking questions. If asking questions makes me a retard then I guess I am. I just want to know how your thought process is and it is really filled in insecurities and you felt that I emasculated you because you have to use name calling to try to get your point across. I do not need to bring myself down to your level by name calling people for their curiosity.

>You're right, it's unfounded because hint hint, it's a fucking opinion. It doesn't need justification, and I don't need to post photos of my TR collection (not that I want to dig everyone out compile them all in one photo anyways) to prove that my opinion is of any importance.

So why do you keep talking about how shit the toy is if you're not trying to justify your opinion in the first place? What compelled you to keep complaining about it when people already heard you the first time. Well you made it sound that your opinion has any weight to it from the moment you were adamant that the item in question was crap and you wouldn't shut up about it. I am not the one who is calling the item crap but you. So now all the weight of proving it to be shit is on you and you're dodging the issue of providing me a good example why is it shit aside from what you saw on the internet. I was asking for you to show me a picture of your own stuff to confirm if you really know what you were talking about and yet you still dodge the subject matter.

Cont on the next one again.

Yes you actually do need to eat shit to know what it taste like. Do you know what shit actually taste like? Looking directly into the sun is indeed blinding but what if you looked straight on to the sun and realize you have some special eyes that lets you directly look at it without getting blind? Have you asked yourself that? And yes you need to touch a burning flame to know it's hot because flames don't simply burn in a single temperature. That is why people use a thermometer to gauge how hot the flame is. Also how do you think ancient humans learned? They used their senses and natural curiosity to learn about the world around them and those who died doing that taught the survivors what not to do.

>Fucking tard.
Strong words yet to show your superiority and to make me only focus on that so my reply would be based around it but that won't really work for me as I am here wanting knowledge into who you are.
>>
>>5924860
>Except that, once again, this is my opinion. Offense is taken, not given, and as far as I can see you're taking as much offense from my post as a single mother niggress takes coca cola from a Mcdonalds drink fountain.

But your opinion was meant to offend and get a wanted reaction. That is the definition of trolling.

>You are quite sincerely retarded. You make blatant assumptions, believe that "opinions must be justified" and don't fucking understand the concept of subjectivity. I don't fucking want an "intellectual and proper conversation", you fucking fedora, I want to voice my opinion and end it there.

Again you have to resort to name calling to show that you are superior to me. Opinions do must be justified because an unjustified opinion is really nothing but ramblings and thus it wouldn't hold any weight.

>The opinion is only as important as the person that owns it, and thanks to you my opinion is now extremely important.
I agree that the opinion is as important as the person that owns it but I must digress that your opinion is still not important to me because I am still trying to ask you the weight of it and I am trying to find out what you mean and give meaning to it so I can take it seriously.

It ended up with him name calling me because he ran out of things to say.

I never said that anybody who dislike what I like is projecting but that guy was definitely was.

I never impose my views onto others that is why I AVOID to give my opinion till I know the whole story or if I do give it, my opinion is neutral at best. I try not to be biased. If you read it I was pretty neutral the whole time and I just wanted to hear some justification. All I asked is why he thought it was shit and his answer "because it is" wouldn't cut it since that was not his real opinion since going back again he was doing it to shit on my taste. I never once said that his opinion was wrong but I asked why should it hold some weight.

I feel like I'm just going round and round trying to explain this.
