I've got Bruticus now, with Shockwave on the way. Why is he so based? I really think he might be the best combiner yet. Great aesthetics and color scheme, strong limbs, the only thing dragging him down is Brawl, who works fine as a leg.
It's surprising that Lockdown doesn't have a Revoltech figure of his own.
Par for the course, anon
Takara announces Movie model kits. only releases Prime and Bumblebee
Kaiyodo announces Movie Revoltechs. only releases Prime and Bumblebee
Revoltech Megatron and Shockwave would be nice af
>EVERYONE LOVES PRIME AND BUMBLEBEE
>IN EVERY SIZE SHAPE AND FORM
Fuck the hasbro executives
It's a dude. You can tell because it's very unusual for women to have the more squared finger tips like you can see there, especially on the thumb.
Dude's just asian with small hands.
I wouldn't hold it against you if you got Swindle and Brawl just in case Takara's Bruticus goes south with the colors.
I'm personally picking up a Hasbro Onslaught to get a grey chest, unless Takara surprises everyone and doesn't do an excessively cartoon accurate Bruticus like they did woth Menasor.
Ah yes, the voice of a young school teacher before the kids break them in.
This isn't come hardcore sjw sperging on about how they need more fembots, this is a woman giving young kids an idea of what a cool toy is.
I used to find this soothing until I became friends with the sort, now I await them to morph from a friendly lady great with kids to one of those old crones who everyone dreads.
Dunno if she actually is a teacher but she sounds like the type, loves kids, enjoys anything to do with them, hasn't had their dreams crushed yet
Hey, I live in Finland and Transformers never were that popular here (I'm not counting the Michael Bay movies, obviously), at least not in the nineties when I was a kid, so I wasn't into the show(s) that much. TMNT and Biker Mice from Mars were the popular shows in my childhood years here in Finland.
But I've just recently gotten into Transformers through IDW comics, which I'm loving. And the comics piqued my interest in the toys. I'm looking into start collecting, but the fact that Transformers aren't that popular in here means that the toys are pretty scarce (and overpriced too). So I might buy them overseas, that's not a problem though. What I am finding a bit problematic though is the sheer amount of the toys though. So, what should my approach be in choosing what to buy?
Sorry if my english is weird/ fragmented, it's my third language yadda, yadda.
Hasbro's not too interested in releasing MTMTE-style figures. Most MTMTE figures are 3rd party so good luck with that.
Currently though, most of the main IDW characters do have figures of their own like Springer (must own), Windblade, Bumblebee, etc.
So depending on how you want to collect, I'd suggest waiting out on local toy conventions, finding hobby shops to widen your search horizon and if you have the dosh, consider investing in 3P stuff.
Pick what you like, but look for reviews before you buy, 2 or 3, that way you will be aware of possible bad quality issues and even some missing steps on the transformation, like how Hotspot/Onslaught knees are supposed to transform isn't explained on the instruction sheet.
If you want official toys of IDW characters:
Generations Leader Jetfire
Generations Voyager Springer
Generations Voyager Brainstorm
Generations Deluxe Skids
Generations Deluxe Trailcutter
Generations Deluxe Nightbeat
Generations Deluxe Wind Blade
Generations Deluxe Armada Starscream
Generations Deluxe Goldfire
Generations Legends Swerve
Generations Legends Bumblebee
Combiner Wars Leader Ultra Magnus
Combiner Wars Deluxe First Aid
IDW inspired Hasbro figures: Springer, Brainstorm, Swerve, Tailgate, Trailcutter, Drift, Blurr, Gen Bee (deluxe and legends), Gen Megatron (Deluxe and Leader) Jetfire, Gen Seekers (legends and Leaders) Windblade, Chromia and while not IDW inspired some "main" characters use their FoC design in the comics like Soundwave, Shockwave ad Sideswipe.
Obviously. I worded it kinda badly. I wanted to know what to avoid, if there's something to be aware of, etc.
Thanks. Wonder why that is IDW Transformers are pretty popular (especially MTME), aren't they? Making figures sounds like easy money, right?
Thanks, dude. Appreciate it.
These are a great reference to start from, thanks a bunch.
IDW's not as popular as the main cartoon toys, less so than the Bayformers. When it comes to MTMTE crew, they try to pander to both the comics and the older fans, which means they'll do Brainstorm but in the vein of his Headmasters appearance, they'll do Whirl but in the style of his G1 appearance, and they'll do Megatron but only if he's still branded a Decepticon.
Universe Countdown works if you don't mind the different head, plus he has an awesome bio, Getaway got an homage deco on the first movie line as "Breakaway" a repaint from Cybertron Hotshot.
Has anyone found "base modes" for CW, Onslaught and Motormaster to integrate them to Metroplex or Trypticon (when he finally arrives.)
It's surprising that there is no Bludgeon version of him.
I hope we get a new Bludgeon soon.
Anime: better disguises for the autobots that allow them to fully interact with humans and human size facilities, the Cons just used them to scare the shit out of everybody. IDW comic: The autobot shells are power up suits for deep space that protect the users from high radiations, the Cons had the original versions that made them stronger but it wasn't perfected, the shells fused with their bodies driving them crazy in the process. No idea for the Marvel comics version.
Marvel had the shells as powerful exosuits that augment various bots with powers and could be used as a drone when not being operated. Only downside was the damage to the shell was twice as much pain for the user
This isn't a terrible price, though I remember buying him when TRU marked him down to $6.
This would actually be the perfect mold for a new Bludgeon.
Say hello to“Big Wind”. It is a Russian T34 tank with its turret removed and replaced with twin MiG jet engines mounted to the treads. It is a giant double barreled super soaker on wheels. Actually it has 6 nozzles over the MiG engines. As it sprays water the engine jet blast sprays the water forward. The water is moving at a maximum rate of 220 gallons of water a second, or twice what an average U.S. household uses in 24 hours. If you hooked up this machine’s water pump to a typical suburban swimming pool, it would suck it dry in about 50 seconds. While the idea is for mass fire neutralization the tank could be Weaponized. It's pressure can be crank up to 210 MPa making it able to blast through military armor and artillery like it was butter however at the cost of that much water this would also make it the most impractical weapon of war.
>I really think he might be the best combiner yet.
I'll agree partially. Onslaught Swindle and Brawl (even with his waist issue) are great, not so much Blastoff and Vortex.
It's not even the whole "Blastoff is a jet not a shuttle" thing, the Quickslinger/Firefly has hips that are way too thin, arms that don't lock down in arm-limb mode, an alt mode that has trouble holding together, legs that make you feel nervous to seperate them because it feels like they'll break every time, and a tailfin that causes major obstructions whenever you're trying to get Bruticus to hold anyway (Shockwave included). Plus Quickslinger/Slingshot's head just looks so bad.
The Alpha Bravo mold for Vortex isn't much better. Same small hip and non-locking arms problems, the copter blades don't collapse very well in arm mode plus they cause restrictions to the forearm/waist swivel
Really glad I didn't get Superion now.
Getaway hasn't gotten a new mold yet, but Movie Breakaway isn't a terrible substitute. Atomizer's probably never gonna get a toy.
sounds ilke an easy and fast way to landscape
All they're missing is a Lazerbeak redeco and a huge beard
>tfw we will never get a spinoff with the bots on the fury road
>Movie Megs killing BW2 Ironhide
Can we have a Tidal wave whale?
so I found a second onslaught at Walmart today and wanted to share apparently there is a slight head color difference
The one with the more grey head was the first guy, Christmas gift.
Black here was found today
And both are plastic in that color
>Haven't even showed up in my country yet
>Rape prices on ebay already
>Some guy has two
The tricky thing about gold plastic is that sometime sit doesn't refer to literal gold colored plastic; there's a dark, near brown shade of it that also poses a problem. The US release of Transmetal Megatron is an infamous sufferer of it.
if it makes you feel better Grey has a fracture crack on his right leg. Makes me very nervous to combiner mode him.
I think the stress is if that running change is true grey chest here will only skyrocket in value.
Ugh, yeah. Don't really wanna settle for the shit brown chest, but iirc, the combiner chest and waistplate are the only parts changed color-wise, right?
I suppose if all goes to hell I can buy the running change and paint those parts up.
Why do you get two Onslaughts?
Who's the best fembot and why is it Crasher?
The one CW repaint I'd like to see.
We are but walking corpses already dear brother...
Torso twist, legs fold into treads, back skirt becomes armor panel b/w treads, chest flips over head like leader Megs to become armor panel b/w treads, shoulder fills out tank body, forearms become turret, cannon extends to form barrel.
Hey, at least your country will get it. New Zealand is lucky if it ever gets anything past wave 2 in a line.
Unless HTS puts Vortex up on their site I may just give up on getting the combaticons I wanted got galvatronus.
All my wal marts either have empty CW pegs or next to nothing. target JUST restocked the autobot limbs and toys r us won't be able to move their current autobot stock at $20 a pop.
Damn. All I want is swindle, blast off, and vortex.
>implying it wasn't Unicron's blessing
Embrace the dark side anon, oblivion awaits us all.
If there's one character that I want to see reedun it's Sideways. The original figure looked goofy as shit, but goddamn Do I love the DualHeadmaster/Minicons-become-rider gimmick.
Fellow Kiwifag here. I got it off BBTS with Scattershot. Couldn't risk it either not coming here or getting forced to live with the shit brown/green chest one. Warehouse is saturated with Protectobots/Cyclonus, while places like Farmers and K-Mart have a few Autobot recolors floating around. Supposedly somebody saw Combaticons (but not Onslaught) at a K-Mart or Farmers in Auckland.
Guys look, Classics Barricade! Finally!
he's only been in two movies and two IDW comics and I already miss the poor bastard.
Easily the biggest waste of potential in all the movies.
From a marketing standpoint, he's a perfect rival to Bumblebee, yet they decide not to use him again.
See that dope'ass design in pic related? from the Transformers Universe game? Barricade never even showed up in that game!
i hope he shows up in a new cartoon or something, he deserves it
The concept of an evil Police Car was too good, and they wasted it. He had the scene where he interrogated Sam and chased Bumblebee in the first one, which is still one of my favorite scenes from the movie franchise, but then he didn't do anything else except for one split-second shot in DOTM where you can only tell it's him if you freezeframe.
>he's a perfect rival to Bumblebee
Or they could be obvious and make him basically Prowl with a Decepticon badge to drive the point of what a piece of shit Prowl's been portrayed as lately.
Barricade had one of the best (if not the best) Legends figure from the movie line. Bonecrusher was great too, but he only came with Jazz, who was shit.
I wasn't happy when New Zealand didn't get the Human Alliance one.
>Bonecrusher was great too, but he only came with Jazz, who was shit.
Not if your country gets European releases~ i got an individually packed one.
Wish he had a better toy though. Remember the Voyager Bonecrusher rumors?
Well to be fair we did get the individual one here in New Zealand too, which I bought. It's more that people in America were either forced to buy Jazz (probably again for most of them) to get him or miss out on one of the better Legends molds from that line. At least Brawl was repainted later as Tankor, and Ironhide got the red repaint in ROTF. Bonecrusher was only used once for that one toy.
A Voyager Bonecrusher could have been awesome. Human Alliance would have been cool too, but he'd be too big to scale with the rest of them.
>optimus alt mode mostly blue
>megatron alt mode mostly red
>robot forms are mostly iconic colors
>tfw you own the henkei megatron but want an optimus
What do, I want this but I love my semi g1 accurate winged megs
>New Zealand is lucky if it ever gets anything past wave 2 in a line.
At least you got fucking wave 2 over there, britcuck here and haven't seen anything but Superion limbs/Dragstrip.
Surprised there isn't a third party add on seeing how wheeljack got his light up ears.
But here is the hard part, I kinda like that red thing as well, its classic red vs blue.
If the price is right I'll bite the bullet so I can duel wield megs, if not I'll see...won't come cheap though, got a strong feeling you don't ride kangaroos like me
We didn't get Wave 2. Australia did, but we skipped straight from Wave 1 to Wave 3. The only Wave 2 figure we got was Blackjack, and I'm fairly sure that was only because he reshipped in a later wave.
tfw there will never be a set of figures representing the Combaticons in these forms. They wouldn't even need to combine, I just want Transformers like these.
Brawl - Retool of PCC Heavytread
Swindle - Universe Hound retool (new head)
Blast Off - Retool (new head) of Reveal the Shield Lugnut
Vortex - Redeco of G2 Ransack
Onslaught - Retool of Cybertron Scout Scattorshot
Whoever takes over the cons from Funpub, please get on that.
Pretty much all of TF Universe's art is wasted potential since the game is never coming out, I want a spiritual successor to the WFC games with this style.
It like a perfected version of what the bayformers were going for. I'll even take some 3rd party toys.
Looks alright I suppose. Nice to see these molds get reissued. Optimus looks a bit meh but I like the colours on Megatron. Shame I'm not a fan of gun-mode Megatron, I do love that robot mode.
Oh come on, they did prowlesvastator with even a mini prowl head underneath.
Its abstract but seeing that shown me how far the third party crews can go, really just red led lights on a prowl head would be nifty
>compared to literally a few seconds in the animated movie
I recall one 3P making a set of cartoon eyes for Sludge to replicate literally 1 frame that you'd miss if you blinked.
What g1 characters had different names over in japan? I know of:
>optimus prime= convoy
>piranhacon= king posideon
He was comparing the feasibility of that to the prowl death.
Yes, wheeljack's ears light up everytime he speaks and that was a worth while 3p add on, but for a company to actually make eyes popping out of a dinobot that was literally a split second frame?
Why not 4 seconds of a childhood character's death?
I AM IN THE UNITED STATES
WE NEVER GOT ANY OF THE COMBINER WARS DELUXE ACTION FIGURES THAT FORM MENASOR, NOR DID WE GET THE BOTS WHO FORM DEFENSOR
WE GOT MULTIPLE SHIPMENTS OF THE RETAIL WAVE OF COMBINER WARS DELUXE ACTION FIGURES COMPOSED OF SUNSTREAKER, IRONHIDE, MIRAGE, AND PROWL
Can you not fucking read you dumbshit nigger?
>piranhacon= king posideon
Frankly, once you get into Masterforce and Victory, you can pretty much consider everyone different characters, not just different names for the same dude.
It's decent. If you've ever played around with the first Ultra Class BW Megatron the two have surprisingly similar transformations.
I'd recommend cutting around the pin that holds the wings, though. It lets you clip it on and off, and the wings really get in the way of posing and balancing for that matter.
God Neptune is even better I think
>If you've ever played around with the first Ultra Class BW Megatron the two have surprisingly similar transformations.
Holy shit I never thought of that..
You said you live in the US. You said we didn't get any Stunticons. Any literate person can see that you're implying the US didn't get any Stunticons, which if factually incorrect. Perhaps you should have been more spefcific and stated "my area never got any Sunticons".
I'm sorry the American education system has failed you.
After I finish up my (massive) backlog of Classics toys, what series should I try picking up figures from next?
>unicron trilogy (mostly cybertron with a few armada and energon)
>beast wars (organic beasts only, skipping transmetal and beast machines stuff)
>prime (mainly PRID stuff)
Here's a challenge, post some creative Transformers customs!
I always liked this one. Just makes sense you know?
Something people would've rather had over Jhiaxus?
Didn't make this with any character in mind, but decided to go with the unreleased Beast Machines sequel Immorticon.
Jhiaxus was originally one of these shit OC characters, too anon. His name is literally "Gee, Axe Us"
"There's no need to thank us, TFfans, all in a days work! You're very welcome for this masterpiece!"
Hey, I'm a super casual transformers fan, and only ever watched beast wars. Just saw this guy in a thrift store. Which predacon is he? Does he have all the pieces?
Thanks man. Figured he was missing some things from the looks of him. And I'm an idiot for calling him a predacon instead of a maximal. No wonder I couldn't find him online.
The only transformers I have intact are the wolf dragon thing from beast machines that I've had since I was a kid, a transmetal megatron with a large portion of his chest missing, and the anniversary waspinator. Used to have the motorcycle and jet from beast machines too, but those got lost or sold a long time ago. I always keep my eyes out at thrift stores to see if there's any there.
>this is what I was expecting from the tf club
>tfw it was worse than this
You guys think partsforming could fully bring out the potential of TF engineering? I know a lot of people scoff at the idea, but partsforming can lead to some pretty cool stuff. Just look at Brave.
Depends on how much partsforming. If we're talking like, G1 Seeker level, then fuck no, that was cancerous, and left kids and collectors alike with little more than plastic and metal tubes.
>combiners partsform, that's the point
Yeah, but that's the thing- we haven't seen brave/sentai-tier gestalt partsforming in years. Most combiners nowadays are almost completely self-contained with no splitting robots to pieces to form symmetrical parts on the body. The most we have nowadays for partsforming is just the hands and feet.
I think MP figures should use it more, for gap filling and alternate bits for cartoon accuracy. All sorts of Japanese figures use it for things like filling minor gaps on Macross figures, to Soul of Chogokin figures that have entirely different heads and armor to recreate a more faithful look.
Imagine if you could take that new MP Hot Rod, and just pop in a whole new chest.Or take MP Primal and give it a more proportionate gut area for beast mode.Stuff like that.
How is it not creative? Deciding where to create damage, what tools to use, coming up with ways to make the paint weathered, figuring out how much is enough. There's no road map for the damage design, it's almost all created from scratch.
To be fair, partsforming is lazy as fuck. I'd much rather have a well-engineered figure that perhaps isn't aesthetically perfect than a dead-on accurate figure that only works through lazy engineering "cheats".
Aesthetics aside, if partsforming makes a figure eliminate stuff like limited articulation and invasive kibble, I'm all for it as long as all the parts have somewhere to go in both modes. None of that g1 combiner kibble bullshit.
Trying to look for Land Bison for a few weeks now, sucks Ebay doesn't have it at the moment and basically a lot of Brave suddenly went up in price on top of it. At least I got my GGG, Goldymarg and G1 Exkaiser.
I might have to ask my buddy who lives in Japan to look this for me since that's his business.
I don't really need the Repaint of Sky Garry when I own the original G1 even if he's a Death Garry is a repaint for the Brave but yea nobody wants him at all. I see it at our local toy show every few months and nobody really buys it and it seems the seller told me I'm the only few people that actually knew who Death Garry Gun is.
>Target.com says my local target has onslaught
>TO THE GEEK MOBILE! [woosh]
>Only White Optimus on shelf
>[shows stock guy page on cel phone]
>"If you have one in the back i'll give you money for it right now."
>[stock guy is actually helpful with his price gun]
>"All we have is what is on the shelf no matter what the website says."
>[silent impotent rage]
What's the case ratio with Onslaught? Like 2 Primes, 2 Scattershots, 2 'Slaughts?
>TO THE GEEK MOBILE! [woosh]
>[shows stock guy page on cel phone]
>[stock guy is actually helpful with his price gun]
>[silent impotent rage]
Has anyone tried painting Road Rage's lips yet?
Pretty much this
The listing just means a Target somewhere has gotten them.
The Skus are all the same
And the 1 for 1 case nightmare as well as tha major running change pretty much means this guy is gonna be one of those special Voyagers that will hit $100 in just a few months if that.
1 per case of 2
The next case with the running change is the same way.
That's the last waves of CW this year after that it's Titan Masters or whatever the name is and the gift/box sets
Waiting to pick up Hound and Trailbreaker. Finally got a hold of Optimus. Is there any kind of coupon for first time purchases from TF Source? The perfect effects kit looks pretty neat.
They just got him in stock where I am. He's pretty neat. I hope they repaint him as Warpath or something.
Excuse the odd picture quality, my room is dark.
If that's the case, what product number is printed on the card (assuming there is one)?
I know that Motormaster had a product number on his box, and that helped determine if he had the corrected hips or not.
>get into tfs summer 2014
>pick up this guy as my first modern figure since animated
>recall having armada megs back in the day
>decide that i wanna pick up other armada guys to go with my starscream
>almost buy armada hotshot until i decide to buy more classics stuff instead
Wew. I really dodged a bullet there.
I immediately did the waist swap around just because I think it looks better, overall its not bad.
Also, my camera over saturates it, he's closer to an Olive Drab in person.
I like him. I mean he's just a nice little tank. I wish I had gotten Rook, but I'm not shelling out $40 for him on Ebay.
Well, I tried. I'm going to try and make some faceplates too.
Yes. Rescue bots use 5mm pegs and holes on some figures.
