Back in '92, a sequel for Godilla vs. King Ghidorh was planned, with a second Heisei KG coming from space.One detail that would've tied the two would've been humans taking some DNA from KG and implying they'd so something with it; i.e. create the Dorats. Mothra's popularity n a poll made them scrap it in favor of a Mothra movie. Since it was never made, how canon that info would be is anyone's guess.

Anyway, I actually like the little nods to Showa KG's alien tis in GvsKG. The Futurians have a sip that looks like a UFO called the mothership, not unlike the Kilaaks or Xillians. It's like they wanted to do a more nuanced version of that for the Heisei era, foregoing the humanoid aliens for the timetravel explanation, but still making them "alien" to the time and place.

The narrative right now is that Mark is in the right because he's a "trustworthy" old head in the fandom and worked with John Desentis whom actually had two successful Kickstarters, where as David Hall is just some young nobody filmmaker.
