Indomitus for life. I play Deathwing and Grey Knights so I give my Deathwing sergeants hammers and the rest of them an assortment of a heavy weapon, lightning claws and power fist. Grey Knights take falchions and halberds because those are the only two weapons worth taking. Paladin squad Paragons get hammers.

Every match I've played so far has been very close which tells me that balance has been improved immensely, yeah sure theres always those WAAC dipshits trying to play broken lists for the sake of winning, but you shouldn't be playing them anyways

8E is a bit too bland to be as fun as 7E. The problem is 7E was too broken to be fun period. So once the new toy factor has worn off, 8E seems a bit boring and the units less unique. This is why you sometimes get random faggots saying 7E was better, because they had a specific group of people they were close with to play 7E in a way that was actually fun. Most normal people couldn't have fun in 7E because the average 40k player is a complete faggot.

Bulldog helmets are the way to go, though the other two marks have their charm

Magnetized my termies so I can use them for multiple strategies, glad I stuck with using space wolves rules for my custom chapter, the flexibility in their terminators makes them a very fun unit to use

I'm probably going to pick up more to possibly run a terminator heavy list once I get tired of playing dreadnought lists (if ever)

How are spartans nowadays for hauling around 10+ terminators
>>
>>55397349
8e has a better rules framework than 7e. However, it isn't doing anything interesting with those rules. Everything is homogenized into roughly the same stats, so all the factions start to feel very samey.

It isn't a fatal blow to 8th. GW could still fix it with the codex releases. But of the codexes released so far, nothing has been particularly stand-out interesting. They're virtual copy/pastes of the indexes, with 4 pages of rules tacked on.

So most people don't have high hopes for the factions being fun. 8th edition is the league of legends of wargaming, and we could have gotten dota instead.

I knew there had to be a reason it was such a specific thing. I bet a lot of old BT terminator models had converted launchers too when they could take more than 1 per 5 but the box only came with 1.
>>
>>55397438
that and a lot of the stratagems are being repeated, or given to new factions with very minor variations.

Today's lucius reveal has me even more scared that we're going to get a subfaction with +1 defensive bonus and a stratagem that lets them deploy units 9 inches away from the enemies in every codex.

So far, AL, RG, and Lucius have gotten that pattern.

Other stratagems also seem samey. It looks like we're going to get a shoot twice or fight twice stratagem in every codex. A 3 tanks unite for a super shot in every codex. etc, etc.

So basically Lucius is unkillable except for the condition that Slaanesh placed on his gift/curse. Lucuis can only be killed by a being whose heart is filled with nothing but mercy and compassion.

Can you guys give me guesses who can that be?
>>
>>55397330
Some of the best tournament armies all had a large core of tactical marines and Razorbacks/rhinos.

It was a far more balanced game back then. No stupid Lord of War units, no horde of special characters, even the ones that existed needed express permission to use. A smaller, tighter and more well balanced selection of units with little in the way of anything totally game dominating. No real broken combos. No flyers. No broken psychic phase. You had to actually use a mixed arms approach when building lists and running more than 1 basilisk was seen as kinda cheesy because that's about as powerful it got.

Better days. Sadly GW realised the community has no self control and would jump onto any obviously overpowered crap to win games even if this wasn't in the spirit of the game and now here we are where running a primarch , a near titan and a gunship with a million shots is seen as a normal game.

>THE UNDYING: I am the Undying, I am doom incarnate...

>He towered over me, this monster of living metal. He wore a crown with a red gemstone, torcs banded his mechanised arms and an azure pectoral hung around his neck. These were royal trappings. Here I fought a king of the dead, a robotic anachronism of an old and conceited cultured, full of darkest anima. Necrons they were called. His regal status only spurred me on.

>SICARIUS: We are the slayers of kings!

>I spat the words in anger at the gilded monster before me.

>He and I, we fought alone. None interfered. I had drawn only my sword, and would engage it thusly. For my victory to have any meaning, this was how it had to be. Even terms, his crackling war-scythe matched against my venerable Tempest Blade. But in the end, it was not my sword that was found wanting...

>After a savage duel, he cut me deeply. No foe had ever done that before. And with blood filling my mouth, I fell. I, Cato Sicarius, Master of the Watch, Knight Champion of Macragge, Grand Duke of Talassar and High Suzerain of Ultramar, fell. And as the veil of darkness wrapped around me like a funerary shroud, I heard the monster’s words again...

Love Tartaros the most, especially the scarab occult. Haven't finished painting mine yet so I haven't used them on tabletop though. Also not quite sure how exactly I should kit out the squad yet, though it's relatively fine since I paint the parts before full assembly.
Speaking of which, I kinda want to equip my scarab occult squad with one hellfyre missile rack and a heavy warpflamer, is that a decent loadout? Is equipping both onto one guy just a meme, and should I do it or not? Which way looks cooler?

I don't know what a good loadout is, because I don't play tsons, but I think that equipping both weapons on one model is fine because you can split fire the guns. If the model had to elect who to shoot at then it would be bad, because those weapons don't have overlap in what they want to be shooting at, but since they can split up their targets putting them on one model gives the most powerful model in your unit more effective wounds before it has to be removed from the table.

No, a Baneblade lascannon sponson is not Heavy 2, nor can some random Command Squad Guardsman buy ML2 without actually getting a Primaris Psyker. He was also closer to 2250 pts in a 1.5k game, which I only spotted when I did the battle report on here and anons mentioned that he seemed to have a lot of stuff. Still just won, which meant mega smug mode after I was told he was cheating, though.

Both take an average of 54 bolter shots to kill, nurgle termies are worse vs reaper autocannon and their S7 D2, but are better against missile launchers and lascannon, since the 3.5 average damage is just 1.5 wasted damage on a nurgle termie and S8-9 only wound on a 3+ vs T5.

Some guy playing battle sisters. I never played against that army so I didn't know shit about the army at that moment.

First he said the exorcist had power of the machine spirit so he was hitting on 3s even after moving. Then he had 5 inferno pistols in his seraphim squad (he can only carry 4).

He said a canoness was part of a squad and he was basically doing 4++ saves of that squad and if it failed he would remove a bolter model of the unit.

That was one if my first games in 8th ( I returned on 8th after 15 years without playing).

PS: He also tried to do acts of faith with EVERY single unit he had. Another player that was around caught him in time.

>>
>>55397971

>>
>>55397852
I know that problem. Painted mine purple and gold.

Fluffed then as being all high and lofty due to the real life elitism of the colour purple: so I might run them as mars.

But I also fluffed them as being high and mighty, despite having lost tons of their relics and equipment in a cataclysm and their bluster is just them clawing at former glory.
- thought Lucius might represent that better as the stuff they have got left they're making sue run to maximum capacity.
>>
>>55397955
They're not as meh as you might think. I know I saw a few lists on bloodofkittens that were in tournament top 3's, so there's something there to be competitive with. I will say that I think they're more suited to playing the mission than tabling your opponent.

Normally the start playing is a good deal because it has a little bit of everything an army might need, and it's priced at a discount, but if you want to use each of the gods that will cut into the price efficiency of those boxes, because they'll contain units that you might not want to use. I would recommend getting an idea of what you want to use as your basic troops and then buy the box for that god.
>>

>Like if they have to make 10 rolls and one falls out of their hand

I know it's my autism, which is why I don't actually say anything out loud, but how is the dice slipping out of their hand any different from just rolling the dice? Unless somehow they need to roll it a special way for it to be suitably random, in which case I'm going to take serious issue with their dice.
>>
>>55397885
some guy playing tau says he is not very good and he is making a new list.

His stealth suits were using 2 weapons when he can only carry 1.

The best part is when he deploys his crisis suits and tells me that he has 3 pulse blastcannon in each (a kv128 stormsurge weapon). The moment he told me they are strength 14 I noped and told him he couldn't do that.

He started saying he didn't know how to make a list but another player came and said he had won a tournament a few months ago in another city.

We need more Ork lore.
So many cool background warbosses that are just veneer thin but with huge potential.
Like the Arch-Maniac of Calverna, who plugged himself into a forge worlds central system essentially making him a planet sized Cybork (and madder than Grotsnik with sunstroke).

Space marines are easy mode. Just buy Guilliman from a discount store, get a cheap space marine librarian model for psychic defence and smite then buy like 10 5 man squads of hellblasters off of ebay for like a tenner each and you have around a 100 PL/2k list you should be able to crush even experienced players with all your plasma death ( and make them come here to cry about it)

You can also swap out 4 squads of hellblasters for two storm ravens to really induce rage.

Yeah they are in regular competitive games at least, a squad of 5 can strip down a tank fairly easily with re-roll support. The -4 AP actually makes a pretty big difference in preventing help from cover and those lucky 6+ saves. You do need a way to protect them, which at the moment is sadly only Repulsor Tanks, or to just spam them out to get maximum WAAC from them.

If it's gloss it's not primer, No matter what lies they print on the can, its a pain+sealer combo.
Using it makes your minis unpaintable, and largely unsalvagable and unsellable.
Like leaving a corpse to go runny in your car.
>>
>>55399046

It does exist. It's used for Vallejo's Metal Color system since they claim the gloss black helps bring out the metallic sheen better. They also claim it's an actual primer and self-levels and has durability like their non-gloss primers, but I still wouldn't use a gloss primer for anything since it has no tooth and I wouldn't trust other brands' gloss primer.

>>55398039
This was slightly before Fall of Cadia, in 7e so Guard weren't anywhere near their current strength. My Admech weren't exactly optimised either, but he had a Baneblade and a Knight to no Lords of War for me as well as 50% more points. I only managed to win thanks to Haywire Spam Supremo AKA Breacher squads killing his Baneblade Turn 1 and blowing up nothing in particular despite scattering near my lines. His target priority was atrocious, he fired literally everything at my two Kastelans and managed to kill them but not the Datasmith so no First Blood. If he'd shot sensibly I probably would have been tabled pretty quickly.
>>

I would say Baneblades but a Chaos anon gave a sitrep where his all comers list killed one and won the game by 6 points in a tac-obj game a couple of threads ago.
He was using the awful 8e Renegades and Heretics too so I guess lords of war just can't deal with numbers as well as they used to.
Maybe try a guard all comers, some melee dudes in a transport, some basilisks, psyker hq, snipers, anti-tank stormtroopers?
>>
>>55399085
Rly depends on what regiment you have.

you can go fo armored infabtry and get everyone a chimera with bunch of sentinels. you can go tank heavy. I might be wrong but guard had and should still have ton of options.
>>
Hmm, are there any cheaper conversion alternatives to Electropriests? Still needs to be GW parts because my local store is a GW sadly, but yeah they're basically a horde unit that comes in boxes of 5, so even with a 25% online discount a full size unit of each variety would come to £150.
>>
>>55398584
Not only was it a thing of prestige, but it was socially important. Very important. Church was where most of your socializing was done, especially in small farming towns where you spent your day working and houses might be half a km from each-other with no good roads. When there was a celebration, it was at the church. Funerals? At the church. Need to get everyone together and the town hall - if there even is one, often there was none and the mayor just worked in his own house or maybe a little office - is too small? Church. Some kind of calamitous weather? Guess what building was huge and built of tons of solid rock.

As populations expanded you'd see a new one pop up; usually so as to make a second central point with the growing population. NOWADAYS one church is enough to handle ten city blocks worth of people, but back when literally EVERYBODY went? It's more prestigious (and money is not something organized religions lack) to build a second than to close one a few weeks as you try to, what, expand for a few more pews by completely fucking up the acoustics?

Then you also started getting other denominations. First the jews show up. Then a sikh temple gets built too. These get built often just a few blocks from where the church is because that's where all the people are centralized.

Next thing you know there's a religious building every couple of blocks in Montreal. But they DO have plenty of other operations: The scouts and girl guides and all that have their meetings in the evening. Town choirs and other music groups make use of the place. Concerts are had (not many other places offer a pipe-organ if you're playing that). Bingo night in the basement. The retired-teachers association on fridays uses the place (I know this because I drive my mother there). Volunteering is done, morning meals three times a week for the homeless are done, and that's just the one near here.

They're surprisingly active if you take a look.
>>
>>55399094
I'd do, but my ~500 point army wouldn't be nearly as interesting as 1k-1.5k+ battle reports. Usually my games boil down to "damn hot rolls over here smashing faces" or "welp, got bumrushed, gg".

Maybe whenever I upgrade my list I'll make some reports. Maybe.

Also, most people like visuals these days, so YT battlereps are usually far more sought over than text-based.
>>
>>55398940
Salisbury is also festooned with churches. There's about four a few minutes walk from the massive cathedral that were apparently used by the workers while they were building the big one.

Coming up with some ideas for a 500 pts Death Guard list.

How does something like this sound?

Malignant Plagecaster, 110pts.

Stinky Roomba, 142 pts.

7 Plague Marines with Power Fist ,Plasma Gun and 2 Blight Launchers, 186 pts.

10 Poxwalkers, 60 pts.

Total: 496.

Could drop a power fist and roomba for a blight-crawler tank, though that feels a bit WAAC. Maybe a bloat drone instead?

Yea, I think I read a rumours somewhere that they are moving away from Khorne for now because AoS got a lot of Khorne models or something along that line.

Are there viable GSC/Tyranid builds that do *NOT* include IG units?

I love me some four-armed emperor but there's no way I'm faggoting up my loyalist guard for them.

How well will a Death Skulls army work?
Emphasis would be on meks, their clanking and smoke belching creations and grot scavengers, most numerous boys would be lootas and burnas.

Who says its cotton? If anything thing its tremendously likely it would be, its probably some weird synthetic material we have no knowledge of. I doubt there are many cotton farms on your average tomb world

Funnily enough MEMRI TV is owned by an ex-Mossad agent. But shit's funny so who cares?
>>
>>55399929
For fluffiness purposes, a bit bunch of lootas, probably a lot of predators and leman russ tanks using either the big trakk or battlewagon statline but modified to represent their stats better (generally weaker-looking armour but a bigger gun), customised rhinos as trukks etc
>>
>>55400162
Bit of both.

A lot of regular Chapters have gotten Primaris reinforcements; in the case of a few badly reduced Chapters like the Scythes of the Emperor supposedly most of their ranks are new Primaris members.

There are also Ultima Founding Chapters, the latest founding which consists only of Primaris Marines, like the Fulminators.
>>
Just how retardedly out-of-scale do the Prospero and Calth HH marines look next to the Primarises (Primeri?)?
>>
>>55399929
>>55400191
The end got cut off.
Most clans will work well as long as they have enough boyz in them, and you can't go far wrong with lootas, the rest of it is mostly aesthetics.

>>
>>55400500
That'll do, now it's just a matter of decided what counts as what. It's a bit tricky because neither the big trakk nor wagon statlines work that well for a regular-looking leman russ, it either needs to be bigger and flimsier to represent the trakks high wounds and thin armour or have some method of visibly carrying boyz to represent the wagon.
