It depends on what types of decks you're playing against of course. Against Eldrazi and timmy creatures it's weaker but against decks with powerul small commanders you can lock them out of the game.

I have a tendency to go single creature type when I make a deck.

What are your favorite solo-type decks?

I mean, yeah, I've always wanted to do an artifact deck, but this shit has been getting ridiculous lately. I can't help myself.

Starting to reach the end of this decks testing/optimization.
Its very solid and can pump out wins very easily unless its stax.

Anyone have any suggestions on what to add/cut? Is old Drana good? Is Nirkana revenant really that good in 3 colors?
Landbase suggestions? what should I cut the painlands for?

Her cards are ugly. No, it's not becauser she's a darky. It's because they decided to go with ugly expressions mixed with awkward stances as a means to introduce her to the public eye.
Her rules text is even more of an affront to the eyes than her art. The lazy keywords and random addition of mass haste/untap ability led to an overall uninspiring final product.

When you look at her at any sort of resting face, she gets way better. Her main arts have her face contorted in this wrinkled mask of rage. In The Tested art, her nose is curled up, this ugly sneer on her face. Tapping an opponent out once for 5 mana is sweet, but surely there has to be a cheap way to tap the entire table out without needing dozens of mana.

And even beside that, I know some people take issue to "posing for the camera" shots of legends and 'walkers, but frankly they tend to be preferable to the "Candid" or "in the action" pieces. A relevant character's named card should be his or her best foot forward. With Samut, it's more her best foot in her mouth. Whatever my issues with her general appearance and style are or aren't, the presentation of her on her personal cards, ESPECIALLY her legendary creature card, is horrible. I'll take Beckett "Meryl Streep" Brass any day, there's at least some good composition and scene framing to her art that helps sell the concept of the old lady as a powerful, confident pirate boss.

So I have been brewing a scarab god deck. My general concept behind the deck is the following:
>slow the game using stax tactics
>have scarab god out, use his upkeep ability to find ways to protect him
>stall the game and wait for his upkeep ability to kill others

I am mainly running zombie lords to give stuff like lifelink and menace instead of just +1/+1. I'm running enough card draw to keep answers in my hand. So essentially I'm trying to build B/U Control Stax.

Some alternate win conditions are just the sanguine bond/exquisite blood combo.

I need advice on what other stuff are must includes if I'm going for this tactic.

Silly as it seems id drop the whole zombie tribal theme of the creatures, anything you reanimate is a zombie, id generally take creatures with etb effects, you can play them, they die then you turn them into a zombie and etb triggers again.
Besides, its fun to flash in a snapcaster and get something good back then chump block and bring him back as a 4/4 zombie and get another spells back.

If you want to play U/B zombies take out all those stax cards you don't really have a way to evade their disatvantages other than rooftop storm so you'll make yourself miserable too. Also I'd take empty the pits because delve doesn't seem to work that well with your deck and the card is just not that great in general.

Consider eldrazi processors to put back creatures you eternalized from your opponents to eternalize them again. Also consider triskelion if you run mike.

I did consider it, but there's a boat load of spot removal and control decks in my group, since we have a pretty potent Teysa combo and Xenagos Sneak Attack-style deck among us that resulted in most decks being built to either disrupt small stuff sticking to prevent Teysa shenanigans where possible or to take out anything attacking players. Changeling Berserker might be an alright beatstick, indeed. I might give it a try.
More reanimation stuff was also a pretty big thing I thought of adding. Played with Ever After before, to have a neat combo out of nowhere with Anathemancer + Inalla out of the graveyard (especially with Panharmonicon). Body Double and Shapesharer were another two creatures that seemed to possibly be pretty potent synergy-wise and offer some nifty possibilities.

I'm definitely going to search out my reanimation cards and test them out a bit. Thanks.

This is it actually, its a shitty sol land that hurts you. People used to constantly play legendaries in edh and adding planeswalkers to the list isnt changing anything. You need urborg out to make it worth it and at that point I would rather have cabal coffers.

During Time Spiral/10th edition the art really drew me in and it was fun seeing all of the inspirations for the art over time. For example, Spirit Link had cool Kev Walker art and eventually I saw the 8th edition art and the Legends art. The game is so much better when you can feel that the people making the cards love the art and the game. Homages to previous cards and art add depth to the game and the current R&D practice of building sets-by-numbers is soulless.

Every set nowadays has a token dragon, sphinx, etc and these completely fucking predictable 2 color uncommon cycles that are meant to be built around in drafts. Maro denies it but the game is getting dumbed down and has been ever since damage stopped using the stack.

Time Spiral was really one of my favorite blocks because of this. It introduced a lot of fun and interesting cards and paid homage to Magic's past. It was fun to play and fun to learn about.

So I made some changes.

The main wincon is still game slow down and group suffocation via Scarab God. The alternates are now Equisite Blood/Sanguine Bond and Triskelion/Mickaeus/Altar.

I considered a combo for infinite plays of gray merchant as well but the deck is having a hard time fitting things as is. I still need to cut 6 cards or so.
