In cyoas it's just a binary 'I want to never see you again' and 'be with me forever'. I don't know about you, but for me the requirements for the latter are a bit more strict than those for association.

That's an incredibly limited way of looking at how to judge a character, and if you think "be with me forever" is a plausible solution to any character done in 3 paragraphs while being written well, then you're hugely mistaken.

That's a personal thing, anon, not a universal rule. People are fine with considering other people friends even with limited knowledge. It's what you call trust.

Next, think of a character flaw, horrible phobia, sexual fetish or weird hobby you have, and combine it with your Demon, the stranger the better.

Once you've come up with your Demonic form, describe your daily life in Hell! Also, we need to come up with a Heavenly counterpart, so help us brainstorm what the other half of this world would be like!

I don't think you understand what I'm getting at. I don't want you to write characters that lay bare their every inner thought. I'm arguing that a third person description is more useful/interesting, because you can describe the side of people that they don't lay bare for everyone to see. Never revealing anything about how they really tick doesn't make them human, it just makes them less understandable/vague feeling.

First off: https://discord.gg/qbCZRu is the current RP in Altering History, based on version 2.1. You can't play, sorry, but you'll be able to post in the #general and see what is going on, as several anons requested.

Second off, attached is an update to World of Myth and Wonder which is I will fully admit still a bit of a mess. A beta, but hopefully I get some impressions which may spark some further ideas as to how to clean it up.

Let me make it clear to people who didn't see the original. WoMaW is a complicated World Builder. It's meant to create magical worlds for use in conjunction with Altering History. Did I mention it's complicated. My hope was to give a LOT of flexibility while still retaining a mechanic that imposes restraints. If multiple players RP, they do so in a single world created by WoMaW; they don't EACH use it. Anons can certainly use it to create their own world for their own purposes.

If there is sufficient demand (and please let me know), I will add a streamlined option that restricts the flexibility for the benefit of simplicity. Sort of a "quick start" section that limits the choices in front of you.

When I create the discord for WoMaW (and it's not going to be until at least one more iteration of this thing), I will create a world based on WoMaW. If you're interested in playing in that, and want to make requests as to what should be in it, drop me a line in discord. I will seriously consider any non-fetishistic requests.

So I'm really well-rounded upper-middle level demon.

There's more that makes a race interesting than their appearance. Moreover, the big issue is that I want VARIETY. I hate fantasy worlds where there's only one or two races. Even if I 'reskinned' something, they're still the only thing around. Underwater isn't an interesting thing to be if you only have mermaids and such, and not several different competing races.

Alright, so I'd be a constantly hungry yet withered looking thing in a decent suit. If you could see through the thick shadows and malevolent glow you might be able to make out more details besides glowing eyes and large horns, but others are pretty sure that's not an entirely human figure beneath the aura. Also no magic or rank, so that's neato. The quirk would be running good ideas into the ground real fast before tossing it aside entirely and leaving the heap of failure to rot, I guess.

Daily life is scrounging around beneath the notice of anyone with any real physical or magical strength to find stuff to satiate hunger.

It's not that I'm *against* adding more races. It's more that... I mean, it's already 17 pages long, almost entirely text, with 18 distinct races. 2 of those are water-based, 2 air-based. It's also because I don't know what other race I would add. I've got a cephalopod-evolved race, and a humanoid/merfolk type. I was thinking of adding a note where you could base a race based on any animal of your choice, would that help? You could then do fish people, for example.

What else do you have in mind? I'm just very averse to expanding what is already a very long document unless there is a good reason for it.

As I said, my bigger issue is that only having two choices means you can only ever have two races underwater, instead of having a variety like you get on land.

I tried giving you suggestions with the previous version, but you didn't approve of any. I have odd taste anyway and would suggest weirdness like the giant isopod people who live in the hadal zone and use giant gulper eels as pack animals. More normal suggestions would be Deep Ones, capricorns, kelpies, selkies, and something both cold and water adapted (the inuit had mythological creatures that were wolf/orca hybrids which are promising.)

All that said, I really want to voice that I can't understand people like you. The whole bloat thing isn't a concept to me. Nothing is too long or detailed as long as it's still within theme and purpose. To me, the more inventive ideas and options available, the better. I love choice and customibility. And really, 17 pages? Traveler is 200+, it's just not something I can consider a concern.

The idea actually came up as a possible drawback to a succubus CYOA— something along the lines of "following the rules makes you physically ill, so you have to wear your hats backwards and you can only brush your teeth TWICE a day and WHATEVER, DAD"—and expanded 'cause it was more fun than any other options.

I'm sorry, anon, that we may not be able to understand each other. There are two issues here. First, is that I don't *want* to create a 200 page pdf. I don't want it to be even be 20 pages. I respect Highlander's devotion a lot, but I've got other things to work on, both CYOAs and real life.

The second is that I think the majority of anons already find the length and complexity of WoMaW off-putting. When combined with Altering History, that's 35 pages so far. There are many who don't read Traveler at all because of the length.
