That depends. Inspiration comes and goes, and sometimes persists for intense amounts of time. I could have it done by the end of the coming weekend (which I took another day off for to work on CYOAs), or I probably won't finish it until months from now.

But, realistically, I'm just juggling a lot of numbers around. I've revised everything like 5 times now only to end up with a system I originally designed in the first place. And fine tuning will take much longer than that, because I want to ensure a variety.

I'm actually serious. My biggest problem is that I tend to create cyoas around a single build I have in mind. The desire to make this cyoa came from a dream in which Yuyuko was in charge of the kuroshitsuji' grim reapers and that's why they all have gardening equipment themed scythes.

I’m of the opinion that if something is vague and implied in the CYOA, you don’t have to take it as canon. So since there isn’t a direct link in dialogue between the sections, you can just view them as illustrations if you want. But if you want to make links, the images do support it. You already identified the boxing gloves, and combining that with the Knight’s immediate actions after a medical emergency and her sudden free time, you can guess what might have happened to the family member, and why she might be linked with “not going through with a self-destructive path.” But maybe you prefer her as just a regular cheerful tomboy and you don’t want that shadow looming over her.
Likewise, just before that slot there’s the disturbed shougi board illustrating “recovering from a disaster with potential sacrifices,” in the last slot there is that White Queen piece the narrator keeps referring to, and so on. But again, unless it’s actually explicitly written in text, all implications are up in the air, so feel free to ignore them if you don’t like them.

I liked the flavour of the Strange Journey Background the best, but Clash with Evil had the 4 most interesting/useful traits and the best Ability synergies.

Our different ability profiles actually mean we are very different heroes when it comes to our traits and which are dominant, despite how similar our trait list looks. For example, your top traits are Espionage at 6, Survivalism at 5, and Performance at 3 (nothing else above 2); my top traits are Witch Hunting at 4 and Wuxia, Espionage, and Acrobatics at 3. Your build emphasizes different traits, is more effective at the top of your traits, and decreases gracefully from there and clusters at 2; mine starts lower than yours and clusters around 3.

Well, people have posted fetish CYOAs with the images cropped and the mods seemed to be okay with that, sometimes.

True, building CYOA in a suggestive way that doesn't need outright censorship is an option that's worth consideration. Especially since it's not too hard - you can even risk it with nudity as long as no genitalia or nipples are visible.

At the same time, I'd say that there are certain CYOA and choices that would loos worse without fully explicit images. But in such case, it's not a big deal either - posting them in /trash/ and linking them here worked before, as did uploading them in general elsewhere and sharing the links.
