The only chaos player at my LGS is pretty much exactly this. (Minus the fedora) He's a known cheater, refuses to limit himself against new players, and doesn't play in tourneys. He constantly does the "Blood for the blood god!" scream, and is generally a douchebag. He also has an annoying habit of asking everyone to buy him stuff, and will ask people to pay for his lunch as well. (He also doesn't tip.)

Saviour Protocol allows you to assign wounds (before saves) to drones. Shield drones could previously take a 4+ on that and were thus durable.

FAQ states that drones doing saving take a mortal wound, which means no save.

In the end it just makes it worth it to use protocols on shit like melta or lascannon shots and little else.

So for Death Korps of Krieg, are the Chimerae worth the extra points over the Centaurs? Trying to use their rules for a Mechanicus Tech-guard regiment, and I'm planning on using GSC Goliath trucks as transports. Was going to use Combat Engineer squads, mostly. My strategy is to try to make everything I bring be such a high priority that shooting 8 wounds off a helbrute (or similar) is a waste of time. For instance, I stick my sonic dreads in with a big pile of havocs. Havocs have more shooting and less survivability than helbrutes, so they usually shoot at the havocs instead if they are both sitting at the same range, so the brutes rarely take very much fire.

If the brute is off by itself closer to the enemy and it's the obvious choice to shoot at, it'll get shot at, know what I mean?

I buy one or two 40k related things a year and it takes me a good 8 months to get around painting them. I still probably win 80-90% of my games with little effort and only really lose to really dedicated WAAC players with pure cheese.

The advantage of my army is I don't have to try to be good, even if I'll never be the best.
I have other interests and do eventually get laid.
