A bit unrelated, but I need help with something. I currently want to buy around 200 specific cards for my EDH decks, collection etc and I have them on a list.

The problem is we don't really have SCG, TCGplayer etc in europe just to order them. MKM doesn't really work like that, because someone could have 1 card + international shipping making it completely not worth it, it sure helps but not enough.

I want to search some online singles stores and make bigger shipments, but searching for every card on like 6 of them would take ages.

Is there any way to setup a bot for chain searches, a script or something to just paste it there? Google gives me nothing, but I could be using wrong words.

I'm lucky enough to be part of an extremely large, very healthy playgroup. I play my competitive deck against the other top tier competitive decks. Pub stomping is for baddies.
I also have a few casual decks for shits.

I'm going to go out and say that paradox engine is not as bad as necropetence. Paradox engine actually isn't that strong of a card unless it's put into a deck where an engine for it already exists. While most good decks do run rocks for it, a small portion run tap to draw effects/wheels.

It's not that insane, but the small number of decks it works in make it seem that way. It reminds me of Kiki, they both cost 5 mana and win you the game in the right deck, but are only alright otherwise.

Flavor and johnny plays were much more prominent before 2013. The precons have added some very fun cards but they also expanded the audience enormously which meant that tryhards from other formats started playing more EDH. It used to be far more obviously casual and there were no competitions so there was no "cEDH"

I have escalating "levels" of decks, but yes there are three fuck-off strong decks I run. The first is Uril, and it's built exactly for the duel commander banlist. You ramp into Uril and instantly win unless someone combos off first somewhere between t3-t5. I only bring it out on special occasions with those 1v1 faggots who bitch about losing in multiplayer, and it sows an ocean of salt every time I deflecting palm an alpha strike, or bust out Mirrorwood Treefolk.

Brago and Ghave are both tuned for multiplayer games, particularly degenerate ones, but with different aspects. Brago takes some time to set up, but once he gets rolling, my opponents are stuck doing fuck all until I slowly ping them to death, whereas Ghave combos off at the speed of light, and if it doesn't combo off for whatever reason, my board is too big to realistically fuck with. They're both effective at what they do, but I never get to play them because they're incredibly dickish.

When the formats banned list was made cradle was banned in legacy and it was about 30$.

Since then it has been unbanned and the legend rule has changed, causing the price spike.

To be honest though it isn't that busted. In competitive terms by the time you are getting sick value off of it most other decks are threatening a win.

If it's price continues to rise though it should be banned on the premise of being a perceived barrier to entry, since nearly every green deck benefits from it more than a basic. If you had an unlimited supply it would take a special kind of green deck to not want to run one, which puts it at similar odds to Mox emerald (a card only 3x more expensive than cradle right now, but Mox was definitely less expensive than it is now a decade ago when it was banned based on price)

Someone should probably ask Sheldon what he thinks the "price cap" of a single card should be before it gets banned.

I had a Sidisi player at my LGS try to get around my Norn's Annex with Confluence by saying it was a recent change. Counter spells are the only thing that really hurts.

I will play my discard outlet before gitrog and if gitrog resolves then I can just go off in response to the removal spell. You would then go for removal on the discard outlet instead of gitrog and now you just used your removal on a bear that can discard. If I am playing a midrange deck then I build up resources and generally wont go for the turn 2-3 kill. I just wait to combo out when someone important taps out. My meta is usually me and 3 blue players so I have that new 3 mana cat snake and defense grid but it usually just turns into me either winning or getting my frog mana drained and losing when that guy untaps lol.

I am currently tuning my Edric deck, but I may be overthinking things.

Is there any point to including Sylvan Library? It seems that once the deck gets rolling, I draw so many cards, it really has no effect beyond turn 3.

Also: Leyline of anticipation. Another card that would allow me to dump my opening hand very fast, but aside from having it in my opening hand, I don't know if it is necessarily useful.

It can always help you dig your way out if your Edric eats removal or counters multiple times in a row. That said, once you tune a deck to a certain degree the argument for cutting staple cards gets stronger and stronger. If it were me, I'd keep it just as a hedge, especially if you have a lot of fetch lands or other shuffle effects.

Don't just look at the budget lists, some of the lists they have in the main page are pretty cheap too.

You can dump a decent chunk of your budget into your mana base with the knowledge that it will be something that will stay with you throughout multiple decks. If you're on a budget, prioritize buying staple cards, create a core that you could build multiple different decks around.

Mobilized Olivia makes all your dudes vampies when you use her, and also provides steep card disadvantage. Neither are good things in "tribal" lists. Mobilized burns through card advantage for a fairly small benefit. Let's face it, your deck is not going to be Madness dense enough to assume you're always casting what you discard, and you're usually not able to cast every Madness spell as they come anyway. It's a card whose effects are aggressive in a format where you're going to have to eat through maybe four other players, and the lategame "payoff" of sometimes being able to cast things with Madness is not enough of an advantage. She can't even give herself haste, or she'd make a decent Voltron. She doesn't do anything for Vampire tribal except sometimes make non-vampires into Vampires, which your deck usually has too few non-vampires for that to really matter. There are plenty of better discard outlets for reanimation too, rather than having to get another creature out just to discard one card.

Voldaren plays into Vampires wanting a bit of Ramp to be able to hit the powerful high cost vampires, and becomes a mana sink if none of them are around. Stealing creatures is essentially a +2 in card advantage, because it's -1 to someone else and +1 in your favor. She can become removal if she's not thieving, and she can become massive for just beating someone to death with command damage.

Besides that, Mobilized is only one less mana that Voldaren, so it's not like comparing versions of Teysa or anything.

How do I deal with a boring player?

My meta is mostly casual consisting of decks built around aesthetics or themes as an excuse to get use out of janky old cards or cards that are interesting but not really competitive (i.e. a full Nils Hamm art deck, a Morph Tribal deck, decks where all art depicts a bird in it, etc.). We have one player who plays almost exclusively UGx (his other deck is Karametra) and winds up playing solitaire for most of the game.
His decks are obviously outclassing our meta (we're not packing shit like Doubling Season) but he still gets beaten out due to politics. Our issue is that his decks are uninspired, effectively just generic versions of whichever deck that Commander would go with. You could just take the EDHrec page to the store and make the deck there.

Do we arms race him or tell him he's not fun or what?

I'd say you need to quit with the durdle """"theme"""" decks and build something fun. It doesn't need to be a netdeck but at least play something that can actually be called a deck. The shit you were spouting about sounds both lame to play with or against.

Build multiple decks with varying power level. I generally won't be playing my "win on turn 5-7 storm deck" against new players.

I keep "budget" deck on me as well to play with newer players or people who want a slower, interactive game.

I guess I should clarify, they don't really durdle. Even the deck with the birds, a Kangee deck, is a tempo deck that utilizes not only bird creatures. Ixidor is hard control with the pickle lock. They're competitive decks with themes (but the themes do hold them back from being purely good stuff decks). We still optimize our decks but we put the design constraints on them for flavour and what not.

When I want to play with a handicap I play mono red. But tbqh, the fun in playing EDH isn't what your playing, it's how your playing.

And ganing up on some guy because he doesn't want to kneecap his deck isn't fun. Sounds like you and your play group are a bunch of pricks.

Eh, we don't auto gang up on he guy but when he's durdle get and has most of his combo ready or his boards rate at critical mass, we take him out.

Again, I don't think our decks are kneecapped to the point of uselessness, the constraints are more to hit the 75% idea.
I guess playstyle is the thing. Our decks play aggro, tempo, control, Stax, etc. His are UGx: "Ramp to Big Stuff while durdling then swing with everything once your board state can autowin". Maybe we just need to let MLD into our hearts.

hahaha holy fuck i was lucky and comboed out with sram. had about 20 monks from monastery mentor, a 29/30 sram with basically evrything aside from trample and pro-white, the dude unfortunately had a wrath effect.

Next turn I recast sram, reattach everything, play a few more cheerios, then astral steel. god that felt good

You called out Doubling Season as being a problem card. It's not, it's a very 75% card because it can lead to crazy plays, but is very easy to interact with. It sounds more like you are just upset that he's not playing exactly the way you want to play and that's a bit uncool of you. My suggestion is to instead throw in a few cards in your decks to force him to interact and not play solitaire.

basically using 0 cost equipments, 1cmc auras and helm of awakening/foundry inspector you can consistantly dump your entire deck out.
You can use Aetherflux, Monastery Mentor, Altar of the Brood or sram himself all voltronned up to win.

I guess Doubling Season was a bad example, it just sprang to mind because it's both quite expensive and potentially devestating when unanswered and I've been playing BR recently and have not had the best opportunities with removing it. Chaos warp is only one card

Regardless, I agree, I need to draw him out more. Its the lack of interaction that's bothering me, not the deck itself.

Sounds like you're doing pretty well with the politics. Keep ganging up on him and bully him a little bit about playing a dumb deck and encourage him to build something more relaxed and his own.
