first things first you have to understand how important the land base is, if you want to keep your deck budget keep your colors down.
make sure you have at least 10 ramp spells in each deck and at least that many ways to generate card advantage
start at 35 lands and go from there

I didn't say I wouldn't be cool with it, but there's bound to be at least 3-4 sweaty or cuntish players who will get their asses chapped by proxies.

I've still got a proxy in one of my decks because I keep forgetting it's not a real card (I blame using work's £3000 printer). Everytime I do an order I forgot to order a shizo. Every. Damn. Time.

I for one fucking hate that WotC has utterly ruined the God creature type by simultaneously overusing it and misusing it.

The original Theros Gods were BRILLIANT design, a flavor and mechanics jackpot. They really felt like something that's beyond normal creatures and didn't obey their laws. Amonkhet fakes were already a stretch, and these new ones are even worse, there are just Spiritmonger for the new age - just a big overstatted lunk with random abilities, a complete flavor failure. They had something truly good, and it took them just two iterations to ruin it forever.

Purphoros can be broken. The other mono-colored ones are bland but still playable as commanders. I run Kruphix, I'm sure plenty of people run Phenax for the memes. Mogis is probably the weakest as a commander.

Keranos is the modern playable one, though some of the others probably have a niche.

I want to get more competitive and play higher level decks. My playgroup will never be ready, as it is mostly comprised of college students who are mostly constrained by budgets.
