Seeing the leaks, I'm happy with the vehicles return, the weird color of some creature types and the "blank" tribal support. So they should just reprint Coat of Arms.

On a positive note, Legendary Pirate
>>
>>53818979
You are quite literally doing what you are "preaching" against.

Also, I have posted vital content to the board.

Very few of my posts were about my personal life. And when they were it was relavent to the discussion at hand. Or inquiried of me.

So, why are you crying?

>>53819008
The infinite mana and intruder alarm additions are only for infinitely getting all the creatures in your deck out.

Otherwise, you pay the mana cost of any creature in your deck, tutor for it, and pop it directly into play. No counter target spell. (Stifle/Disallow aside).

How is that not great ?

The differences again, the capability to tutor literally any creature into play versus the capability to only tutor a legend into your hand. So... and tapping is an activation cost. Just saying.

They don't have the same "problems", excuse me, limitations.

So if Amonkhet is a plane that Bolas took time to "corrupt and reshape to his image" why is he coming back to destroy it? I thought he did that to planes to sap their mana. If theres no mana left in Amonkhet why bother destroying it since everyone on the plane will be weak?
>>
>>53820098
what does the card say? I literally cannot read most of what is said on these cards
>>
>>53820145
I doubt destruction of it is the main point, its probably just a side effect of whatever he is doing to regain power.

Just like the fusion of alara for the maelstrom
>>
>>53820146
It's like Fiend Hunter, exile a card, it comes back when Hostage Taker leaves, combined with Gonti in that you can cast it as long as it's exiled. Except you can target itself for a one card infinite ETB
>>
I am laughing at mono green Merfolk. Wizards is finding creative ways to not boost top tier tribalbdecks while giving tribal support to stuff that will never be viable like cats and warriors.
>>
>>53820146
Hostage Taker 2UB
creature- human pirate
When ~ enters the battlefield exile target artifact or creature until ~ leaves the battlefield. You may cast that card for as long as it remains exiled, and you may spend mana as though it were mana of any color to cast that spell.

So yeah, I'm not a judge but since its ETB isn't a "may" either doesn't this mean if you cast this card on an empty board the game immediately ends in a tie because of a loop you can't stop?

Or am I being stupid and missing a rules interaction?

He is trying to use it to farm planeswalker slaves. The idea is that the strongest people in the plane will pass those trials and Bolas will come back to evaluate if any of those champions are planeswalkers and use them as servants or make an army of them or something like that.

That naya legend from the first set is a planeswalker though and she rebels instead of joining Bolas.

>Anything old you're hoping to revisit in Dominaria?

I want to see a continuation of the Sliver storyline. At present the Slivers of Dominaria have evolved a conciousness and sapience in the form of Legion.

I would love to see them as an actual race of politics, no longer simply a mindless force of nature, I want to see someone beyond Karn communicate in two directions meaningfully with a Sliver.

I also want the Black Legendary Sliver.

We have Legendary Slivers for every other color. I want the black one.

White -> Hivelord -> Indestructible
Blue -> Overlord -> Caveated Tutor and Mind Control
Black -> ? -> ?
Red -> Queen -> Spawn little sliv-slavs
Green -> Legion -> Beefy Buff Creatures.

Not really. In the story they go and chill with the Hivelord, they get dominated by him for a while after turning into Slivers for camouflage. Then they snap out of it. Bow to the Hivelord, grab a journal and then fuck off. While all the slivers just watch them.

Not really the kind of communicating I had in mind but you could count it I guess.

I have two quick questions for building a Sherei EDH deck with the card Heartless Summoning. Now, I understand that she checks the power when the creatures I have die, so any 1/1s would be ready to reanimate at the end of turn, but since they then die right after they enter the battlefield since they have 0 toughness. My question is do they return at the next endstep again if Shirei is still out? I'm just not sure if it continues across turns is all.

Second, I always get confused with several creatures entering the battlefield or dying at the same time. If I have Blood Artist and Zulaport Cutthroat and say 5 1/1s reanimate from Sherei at the end of turn with Heartless Summoning out, do I get 7 triggers from each?

I just built Titania and don't have my list up yet, but go for Scapeshift, Azusa, Crucible of Worlds, and fetches well before you consider dropping $200 on a Gaea's Cradle for the deck. Don't get me wrong, the card is crazy, but for the same price you could be getting much more synergistic cards. Titania doesn't *need* big mana to win, just tons of landfall and land sacrifice.
>>
>>53821503
She says 1 or less.

But, yes. They would continually return and die instantaneously and ping your opponents.
>>
>>53821564

>>
>>53821621

>it's a fagborn answers every question thread because he thinks it's reddit and his opinion matters
>>
>>53821503
First question: yes, Shirei actually has an errata to allow this to happen. If a creature dies, it will be returned to the battlefield at the beginning of the next end step.

Second question: yes, all creatures are dying simultaneously, so you get to order the triggers however you want.

So basically you can have your Heartless Summoning out, and as long as Shirei remains untouched on the battlefield, you get to drain for 14 each player's turn.
>>
>>53821621
But, as long as Shirei doesn't leave the battlefield, they will continuously return at the following endstep. And not just your endstep. Everyone's endstep.

So, you play them (or Heartless), they die instantly. They return at the beginning of your endstep. They die immediately again. Then they return at the next player's endstep and die immediately. And so forth.
>>
>>53821643
>>53821658
No problem, but will i get only the self-death triggers from the Blood Artist and Zulaport Cutthroat? Or do I get triggers from all the other creatures dying?

>>53821683
I'm sorry I'm a noob
>>
>>53821669
Grixis is easily the most pandered-to colour combo in the format, so, that's basically the reason.
>>
Uh, a friend of mine got me one of his old commander decks, Wade into Battle. Looks p. cool, love the artifacts, but what should I know when playing EDH? I've never did it before, and been away from MtG in general since 2004/5.
>>
>>53821742

>>
>>53821761

>>
>>53821761

>>
>>53821669
Marchesa the Black Rose is ambitious (Black), calculated (Blue), and revels in chaotic environments (Red). In CN2 her machinations pay off and she gains royal authority. Queen Marchesa no longer needs to plot, using the laws of Paliano, and substitutes Blue for White.
>>
>>53821769
Yeah, that is the only thing I'm still confused about

>>53821733
>>53821736
thank you
>>53821784
But then wouldnt it be 14 if I had the two and 5 other 1/1s?
>>
>>53821807
Correct. I didn't see the part about the 5 1/1's. Both would trigger for each creature.

So, yes you would be hitting for 14 ever player's endstep.
>>
>>53821761
Basic deckbuilding principles, not to be taken as hard rules but guidelines:

40 lands, cut a land for every 2 cards that can generate mana.

You aren't running enough spot removal.

You aren't running enough recursion.

Boardwipes are great.

Creatues are the most easily answered card type, having non-creature cards that do effects is good.

If you do hateful shit to everyone every turn there is a good chance you will get hated out and ganged up on, be strategic with your plays.

Welcome to the literal best format.
>>
>>53821800

>>53821807
My understanding is that Shirei returns all the creatures simultaneously (double check me on this), so if that's the case, they all die at the same time to the state-based action. So Blood Artist and Zulaport Cutthroat "see" each creature die and you get a trigger from all of them.
>>

For example, on /x/, if there's an OP sharing a story, it's fine for him to tripfag to aid the thread. Cuckborn is not only NOT the OP, he's also chain replying, which is considered extremely rude.

>>53821836
EDH is very much a social format, IE you need to talk with your friends about many factors
-what cards are banned
-general power level of decks
-budget constraints
-house rules
-how wishes work
-proxy usage
Even still, you're going to run into salty fucks. It makes playing the format in LGS a nightmare, because you'd have to talk shit over with a dude that may or may not sperg out. For example, you might think Entomb is outstandingly powerful, but Beardy PimpleChin thinks Entomb is just fine. Or you might pull up with a modified Meren pre-con with 15 different cards vs a guy who's playing vintage highlander and you get to turn 3 with him winning the game via combo.
Another issue is that thanks to the disparity between kitchen table battlecruiser and vintage highlander, many cards would be hailed as strong, but are bad. And bad cards get called good. Everyone has their own opinion about shit. The end result is that it requires a lot of game knowledge and card evaluation skills.
>>
>>53821562
Gaea's Cradle is a key win condition for her though, without a doubt. You need all of the cards mentioned in your post, in my opinion.

The best Titania decks I've seen get enormous usage out of Gaea's Cradle in combination with elves, elemental tokens, and sacrificing Gaea's Cradle in order to return it with Titania and use it multiple times in one turn.

Combining multiple land drops, Titania's etb ability, Crucible of Worlds, Zuran Orb, etc makes enormous mana and can basically put most of your deck into play.
>>
>>53822053
Yeah, even during my first stint I wasn't that involved in MtG, there aren't many players in my area. I live in a small town but it's fairly close to the capital, but even then, there wasn't a single card shop until after I stopped playing, so all my knowledge has always revolved around mine and my friends' decks. I'm lurking these threads and will keep playing only with friends before I try LGSs, which are a new thing to me, playing EDH or any other format.

blue green is a fairly common modern Merfolk variation. granted it's not as common as just blue or blue white but coco was reason enough for blue green before. also if the other Merfolk in the pic ends up being good (which it very well could be since it draws you cards and gets pumped up by drawing cards so it could help with Merfolk's problem of fizzling early) it could make blue green the best version of the deck

Does Guided by Nature convert more easily to elf.dek, or titania lands matter deck?
Also, if it is elves, does Freyalise or Ezuri make the better commander. I see perks to both, one constantly making dorks while packing enchantment/artifact removal as well as being an easily access PW and the other always being an outlet to go big as well as regen.
>>
>>53822349
It seems pretty solid, so my choices of cuts are more personal preference.
Cut: Artisan of Kozilek (too mana intensive and needs a cast trigger for the reanimation), Gitrog (not enough land ramp/recursion to make him crazy), Altar's Reap (you need a creature and it's only draw 2), Voldaren Pariah (powerful, but 3 creatures is tough), and Champion of Stray Souls (very powerful, but very slow).
Also consider getting a Dictate of Erebos or a Grave Pact.
>>
>>53824749
Definitely an elf deck. It's only missing a couple of key elves. The land matters deck would need some pretty pricey cards to work right.
>>
Sometimes I feel like I can't play certain decks because my playgroup plays similar colors. I can't play blue because there's already someone who plays two Ux decks already (both Syggs), I can't play white because someone already plays Darien and Sisay and Ayli, and I can't play black because the third person plays Kokusho and Gisa. I have both Omnaths, but I want to play something else without feeling like I'm encroaching on my friends' niches.
>>
>>53824749
Ezuri is better for sure. Having your wincon in your commander is invaluable, and he's a road to easy victory if you ever get an Umbral Mantle set up.
>>
>>53822349
Gitgud has no support in your deck that I can see so I'd axe him. Nim's has been underwhelming in my experience mostly because if you're consistently leaving 4 mana up then you're helping out your opponents. I'm never of greaves for greaves' sake but that's an opinion. Viridian Emissary does literally nothing without another card and once you've set up a sac engine you should be in a place where you don't need more lands. Ain't big on Duskwatch Recruiter for your list either.

Cards to look into are Hell's Caretaker, Gravecrawler, and maybe Mimic Vat. Some more token generators couldn't hurt either like Hornet Queen or something. Make sure you have an appropriate creature curve for Birthing Pod. I couldn't easily check that from my phone.
>>
>>53824805
I understand being reluctant to play the exact same commander as one of your friends but it's not reasonable to restrict your colors based on their choices.
>>
>>53824843
Ezuri makes you the instant target at most tables and unless you nut into an Umbral infinite you putter out at about the 6 or 7 turn mark. Deck folds super hard to wrath. Freya has her downsides but she patches some key holes in the deck as well, namely card advantage.
>>
>>53824805

I'm not convinced that this new pirate is an infinite loop. This isn't the same as 3 Oblivion Rings or 3 Fiend Hunters because those have the old wording that allows you to permanently exile things.

I think that this new wording has some arcane rule that means that it fizzles if the card would leave the battlefield as part of the resolution or something like that. It's absolutely different than Oblivion Ring's wording.

And we have to remember that wotc just fell back on arcane rules like this with the Amonkhet card that says you can pay 0 instead of paying costs for your cycling cards even though discarding the card is part of the cost to cycle. As printed, that card lets you draw your deck with any card that has cycling but obviously that wasn't intended so wotc just waves their hands and says you can't do that. It'll be the same with this new pirate.

Yeah, you can copy the copies and the chain cards can go back and forth until someone decides not to copy it. Chain of Acid is a the ridiculously reckless one because it costs nothing to copy but Chain of Vapor and Chain Lightning ended up being extremely important cards with this ability.

If this happens, Aligned Hedron Network will exile itself along with other creatures with power 5 or greater. Those cards will immediately return to the battlefield. If this causes a loop with Aligned Hedron Network continually exiling and returning itself, the game will be a draw unless a player breaks the loop somehow.

>If you really want to, you could consider selling the Cradle to fund the deck. You'd basically be betting against the chance that Cradle shoots up even higher in price by the time you're able to reacquire it though.
This idea is insane. Gaea's Cradle is on the reserved list and is not going to go anywhere but up.
>>
>>53826326
That's not entirely true. Cradle was nearing $300 when Eldritch Moon was released, thanks to Splendid Reclamation, and steadily sunk back down to $200 over time. Depending on the time frame, it could waver maybe $10-$20 up or down unless another card like Reclamation forces it back up. It's possible Magus of the Crucible could push the price back up though, so that's the bet there.

>>
>>53826483

I mean you would need at least 10 mana to wipe any reasonably sized creatures, I see it more as a lifegain spell, if you really want lifegain then it's cool I guess, otherwise it's pretty terrible

Not sure what you're talking about with "radiance"
>>
>>53826516
I used to but now I have cut back in order to deal with more casual players. I prefer decks that have at least one infinite combo though because it's a way to just end the game and break a stalemate. Linear combo decks that have an infinite combo in every game aren't fun for me but a complex combo that occurs naturally by playing synergistic cards is great.
>>
>>53826516

Not on purpose but if you put enough good cards together a combo will form eventually
>>
>>53826516
not really. it all depends on what colors I'm in and if the combo pieces are decent on their own. like Kiki jiki goes into a lot of my red decks but I only put in things that combo with it if those pieces are decent too.

I just feel like if you have an infinite combo in then you are usually going to try to fish it out or put in cards to help you get it and that limits creativity

he's saying that radiance would help it wipe it's opponents board. since it deals damage to all creatures that share a color with target creature. so if it hits a 4 color commander it will hit everything and if he hits someone playing a colorless deck it just wipes their board. the life gain is a nice upside but if I want a boardwipe to gain life i just go with fumigate
>>
>>53826642
sadly colorless makes it hit only the targeted creature since a lack of color isn't 'shared' among artifact/eldrazi creatures
>>
>>53826624

Oh lol

No I get that it can kill a lot of creatures at once, but you need a shitload of mana to kill good creatures with it

seems like a bad card, but if youve played with it and you like it, thats cool, I was just giving my 2 cents. I like your list of instants and sorceries overall

And I think a voltron deck generally wants more instants and sorceries than you might think, voltron works best with lots of control elements, rather than just a bunch of auras and equipment that are useless when your commander is dead
>>
>>53826516
My group is somewhat anti-combo, at least when it comes to dedicated combo decks. The philosophy of my group is that there shouldn't be any cards in a deck that exist only for the sake of the combo. If you can justify playing each piece of the combo individually, it's fine. As a result, cards like Laboratory Maniac are kind of soft-banned, because it's a Grey Ogre unless it's winning you the game.

I've managed to work at least one infinite combo into each of my decks despite this though, because my opinion is that "incidental" combos like this help give you hope that you could still win in a hopeless situation if you can just survive long enough to get [CARDNAME].

>go to lgs with mate yesterday
>he wants to sell some rares and i want to look for singles for my decks
>finally get a damnation for relatively cheap
>he sells his stufffor 30 bucks, gets himself 3 amonkhet and 1 eternal mastersbooster, cracks them and pulls Gideon, Invocation Entomb and Verdant Catacombs
>proceeds to sell those to the store too more than doubling his money
how can one person be so goddamn lucky? I'm happy for him but I`m envious as hell

Also looking for help with my Vela the Night-Clad deck.
Looking for a way to make it run more smoothley and already added a Thran Dynamo, Ur-Golem's Eye and the cycling lands, any further suggestions?
I'm also looking for some stuff to get my opponents to discard and kee their hands small, any ideas?

>>
>>53828478
Why? Just for the colors?
>>
>>53828512
Also for the natural synergy with the mana, counters, and tokens. If you have the mana but no clues to spend it on, pump it into Jenara. Doubling season makes your clues and Jenara both better.
>>
>>53828510
I'm betting that they have a card for each Planeswalker. Possibly each card being a different type. And not just a bunch of counterspells.
>>
>>53828312
true but they have other uses. plus breya has a bunch of shit that benefits for having more artifacts. so a consistent source can be useful
>>
>>53828537
You don't fucking say. Like a "cycle" of some such? You're probably right.
>>
>>53828386
Marginally better, but zones on mats are still inherently bad. It really comes across as saying "I'm new and I can't remember where I should put things" or "I'm autistic/OCD and you can tilt me by putting your lands in front"

Furthermore, having designated zones for the "Battlefield" and "Lands" is silly, considering lands do go on the battlefield.
>>
>>53828686
I didn't make the layout. I just added the backgrounds.

I also thought about putting the lands zone above the battlefield zone just as a fuck you to how everyone plays MtG. Just to be funny.

Is there any way to make this fuckgirl work? She seems so worthless. A 2/2 with trample is shit, and making 2 tokens is pointless.
>>
>>53828734
Right, a 2/2 sucks, so focus on making her bigger than that, an aura Voltron deck, and make the saprolings count by all the usual impact tremor Purphoros etc.
>>
>>53828734
Evasion, pump spells, double strike.
>>
>>53828734
Tana is one of the best Gruul legends.
>>
>>53828764
So you can go voltron on her instead of someone who voltrons much better while adding purphoros synergy that is half assed at best.
>>53828776
Which will get you a few tokens, but going wide doesn't synergize well with voltron stuff.
>>53828779
How so?
>>
>>53828734

I ran her with the Abzan guy who hands out +1/+1 counters when he died. It wasn't the best thing ever, but it let you make Tana bigger with a sac outlet, and then you got to make value with the tokens.
>>
>>53828779
Don't.
>>
>>53828816
It was something from around a month ago where anon argued that Tana was one of the best Gruul legends since people could only name like 8 Gruul legends better than her.

What does your board look like, /edhg/?

You can fit about 13 tokens in a single penny sleeve, so I've found it's really convenient to have a box of sleeves stuffed with tokens at the ready. Emblems and rare tokens like Wurmcoil Wurms get clear dragonshield sleeves. 13 is specifically for Zombies, most have 6, 12 if they're something like Saprolings. I actually have 3 packs of 13 Zombies each, since they tend to be the ones that get needed the most.

Vraska could be leveraging Jace's position as the guildpact, rescuing him for the sake of a promise of reward back on Ravnica.

OK guys , here's the story of me playing the card "sprout swarm" for 4 hours

>shopkeep comes in for edh night on day off
>never does this
>super cool dude
>"who wants to play some. ..
>slams massive deck onto table
>planechase edh???"
>I opt in, 3 others as well. Total of 5 of us in match
>I'm playing nemata ramp and saproling
>other decks are meren, uril, foiled out ojutai (shopkeep) and narset.
>herewego.jpg

>opening hand I had sprout swarm
>I ramped and made saprolings
> narset was focused by uril, then he cast approach of the second sun on an empty field, got himself killed in the next two turns
>meren player is grave pacting uril into submission
>ojutai has a few fliers and draw enchantments, nothing crazy (meren grave pacting did the trick)
>I literally have just been ramping, making saprolings, and repeating for like 2 hours. (Though my board state has been trimmed and wiped repeated times, making my commander cost around 20 mana)

Two hours later

>my field is 30 forests, a few saprolings
>my hand is just sprout swarm
>meren is grinding field into submission until...
>uril casts open the vaults and bogles everything onto a mesa enchantress
>one shots meren player
>goes to shopkeep ojutai, who kills uril by taking 2 extra turns (medomai had double strike) and just clobbering him with other beefy fliers
>just me and shopkeep. My field is a mana doubler, 7 saprolings, and 30 forests
>rip life from limb off the top and audibly thump the bottom of the table with my erection
>cast life from limb, cast commander, swing with everything, saccing like 20 forests/saprolings to nemata to buff my swinging saprolings
>shopkeep gets shredded to negatives from 88 life
>laughs, shakes my hand, and checks his next draw
>terminus

I've never had a more uninteractive game, I literally just ramped and made tokens. What an experience

>>
what do you use for +1+1 counters?
>>
>>53831291
I usually use dice, d20s if I have them on hand. I color code different dice for different things though. One color for however many times I've cast my commander, one for +1/+1s, one for mana in my mana pool when needed (such as if I or someone else has a Kruphix), etc.
>>

Dimes = ten +1/+1 counters,
Quarters = 25
Dollar coins = 100

Willow Satyr first came out in Legends, back when Ante was still a thing. The fact that you got all your cards back at the end of the game wasn't a guarantee then, and it would have been entirely reasonable to think that you got to keep your ill gotten gains.

>>
>>53832882
I used to be (god help those poor fools who still are), but I didn't tilt any of it when I was playing Yugioh anyway because I had one of those mats with the zones on it. I tilt it now so there's no confusion about the graveyard/exile and the battlefield.

I like this idea, and I like Tana, but wouldn't she just work better in the 99 with Thromok or Ulasht as the general?
>>
>>53833107
Yes, the advantage of Tana is more color possibilities. The problem is that Marath is better for Naya tokens, Prossh or Sek'Kuar is better for Jund tokens, Riku is better for Temur tokens, Dune-Brood is better, Ink-Treader is better... There's not much space for her.

Jace's Defeat is Gainsay+. It's the trinket text problem, where even though it's strictly better then a not so good but playable card (in an "Only I can play control" deck) it's seen as worse because of a conditional benefit.
