What's up with moths and ES? Moth priests, ancestor moths, mothships, smothering by moths...

Why not, I dont know, bees or something?
>>
>>53470664
Well for mothships it's just that moths are attracted to light. Aetherius is seen as light. So giant moths would be a type of creature to go there.

>>
>>53470725
According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway because bees don't care what humans think is impossible.

As such, he ruled a Principality that invited the rest of the Great Cats into the Den of the Hiss-and-Bite-Accord, a tradition now copied to different effect by the similarly-vanished March of Snakes. The royal stations of Great Cats have long-since become lost in the annals of celestial treaty. Caker King’s Tiger aspect is today only fashioned as a Stone-Leap of his last majestic hunting.

If Akatosh, Auri-el and Alduin are all part of the same god, and they are Time, wasn't Lorkhan a savior instead of a betrayer, for he made it possible for the spirits who eventually would become mortals to break free from, not only Nirn, but also from Time?
>>
>>53477442
What do you mean? Time exists insofar as Mundus exists, which it wouldn't if it wasn't for Lorkhan. But that's just part of his long gamble. Prior to that it was only locally enforced on an plane(t) to plane(t) basis.

Also, Lorkhan is only a betrayer in some versions of the narrative. I'm going to drop a bomb on you here: Lorkhan is Akatosh.
>>
>>53477525
So Akatosh and Alduin only exist because of Mundus?
>>
>>53477571

Not the last part, which is the important part.
>Turns out bee flight patterns are more exotic than thought.
>"The honeybees have a rapid wing beat," Altshuler told LiveScience. "In contrast to the fruit fly that has one eightieth the body size and flaps its wings 200 times each second, the much larger honeybee flaps its wings 230 times every second."
>This was a surprise because as insects get smaller, their aerodynamic performance decreases and to compensate, they tend to flap their wings faster.
>"And this was just for hovering," Altshuler said of the bees. "They also have to transfer pollen and nectar and carry large loads, sometimes as much as their body mass, for the rest of the colony."
>In order to understand how bees carry such heavy cargo, the researchers forced the bees to fly in a small chamber filled with a mixture of oxygen and helium that is less dense than regular air. This required the bees to work harder to stay aloft and gave the scientists a chance to observe their compensation mechanisms for the additional toil.
>The bees made up for the extra work by stretching out their wing stroke amplitude but did not adjust wingbeat frequency.
>"They work like racing cars," Altshuler said. "Racing cars can reach higher revolutions per minute but enable the driver to go faster in higher gear. But like honeybees, they are inefficient."
So that urban legend is dead. Good riddance.

Strange, there was a ban for a long time to even make settlements or trade on Vvardenfell until near the end of the Third Era. Even the Great Houses weren't allowed for centuries. Armistice didn't happen until near the end of the Second Era either.
>>
>>53477775
Saw Aldmer society as decadent. "Veloth supposedly sought a more ascetic and pure way of life for his followers" and "founded a new nation based on Daedric principles". The Daedra, as opposed to "Not Our Ancestors", being "Our Stronger, Better Ancestors."

Good Daedra: Azura, Boethiah, Mephala
(Four Corners of the) House of Troubles: Dagon, Sheogorath, Malacath, Bal
Revere the Good, deal with the Bad. Practice "Fundamentalist Ancestor Worship".

>The basis for the teachings of the Prophet Veloth, founder of present day Morrowind and father of Dunmeri culture. Veloth describes the Psijic Endeavor as a process of glorious apotheosis, where time itself is bent inward and outward into 'a shape that is always new'. Those who can attain this state, called chim, experience an ineffable sense of the godhead, and escape the strictures of the world-egg.

For me Vivec and Dagoth Ur have been the most compelling personalities of all the games. They're heavily flawed but want to do their version of the "right thing" even though their methods are objectionable. Some of the Telvanni wizards are unique too.

The only other memorable characters are the extremely hateable or memeable ones like Delphine, Fargoth, adoring fan, ect. Everyone else seems to be just a quest objective.

Frea and Dragonborn on the other hand are god-tier, but casuals for some reason can't actually appreciate Solstheim. Seriously, almost everyone who's played Skyrim has played Dawnguard, but very few actually bother going to Solstheim. There's people with thousands of hours in Skyrim who have never gone to Solstheim. For me it's a priority, I get there as soon as my character is strong enough.

The problem is that both Daedra, Aedra and the Tribunal are false gods.

Fuck it Aedra aren't even the Ancestor Spirits of any race or whatever but just decided to rule over the EHlonfey races in their vicinity.

>The war in the Anuad describes the conflict between the Ehlonfey/first Mer of Tamriel and the first men/changed Ehlonfey from Atmora. In the war one of the Meretic Ehlonfey dieties shot down the chief deity of the Atmoran pantheon, Shor otherwise known as Lorkhan by the Mer.

>>Bretons
>"Aged like a Breton" is a saying. Take it how you will.

Bretons are a race of Half-Elves.

The term ''Aged like a breton'' was used to describe a Dunmer Emperor who left no heirs which sparked a sucession crisis after someone decide they don't want to be ruled by his mother (all of them had the Septim bloodline).

>They didn't create the mortal races either since those were the survivors of the 12 worlds that Phadomai destroyed.

>Lorkan is Shor and was the Aedra that ruled the Atmoran Ehlonfey.

>When the Tamrielic Ehlonfey (the first mer) decided to kill of the other ''changed'' Ehlonfey it sparked a war that escalated to the level of the Aedra getting involved.

>Trinimac kills of Shor like a proper stealth archer.

>Shor's/Lorkhans heart is burried under red mountain.

>The Nords believe they descended from the sky with the help of Kyne and are eternal outsiders and invaders in this world.

>Kyne literaly helped them descend from the sky when the continents from the 12 worlds came crashing down on Nirn.

The Divines are a sham.

Make another thread if you wish, but don't expect it to have quality discussion

To answer your question, the tribunal are false gods who took their powers from the heart, but do have "one foot in the divine" so to speak.

From Vivec's dialogue:
>It is like being a juggler. Things are always moving, and you learn to know where they are without even thinking about it. Only there are many, many things moving. And sometimes, like any juggler, you drop something. I'm afraid it has become a lot more a matter of dropping things lately. There's too much to do, and not enough time, and I'm losing my touch. Perhaps I'm growing old.

>It is a bit like being at once awake and asleep. Awake, I am here with you, thinking and talking. Asleep, I am very, very busy. Perhaps for other gods, the completely immortal ones, it is only like that being asleep. Out of time. Me, I exist at once inside of time and outside of it.

>It's nice never being dead, too. When I die in the world of time, then I'm completely asleep. I'm very much aware that all I have to do is choose to wake. And I'm alive again. Many times I have very deliberately tried to wait patiently, a very long, long time before choosing to wake up. And no matter how long it feels like I wait, it always appears, when I wake up, that no time has passed at all. That is the god place. The place out of time, where everything is always happening, all at once.

Ain't no bombs left to be dropped. Trinimac was Lorkatosh's shield-thane and friend and took his Heart as a request from his liege, the final act to stabilize the newly created Mundus: Tower to Tower, Adamantine to Red, East to West, Space to Time, I; the Wheel sideways. Despite this the guilt he felt (also known as Boethiah) was to much as to cause him to confess before the throngs. He was eaten from the inside by his guilt for committing the act of regicide, the killing his rightful king. That's subcreation for you.

The Wild Hunt occurred before Wulfharth would have even been born.
Borgas, was killed by Ysmir, the immortal spirit Ysmir, who precursed, and would be present later again in the Nord Wulfharth, a continuation, if you will, of Wolf-Dear.
Ysmir is a spirit of Nordic zeal and vengeance, it 'smote' Borgas as a fuck you to both him and the Alessians. Just as Wulfharth would continue fucking up Alessians. It doesn't need to appear as a literal Nord, as he is a spirit, something inherently not literal. To the Nords, the very fact that Borgas got his comeuppance is enough for them to conclude Ysmir was responsible, just as Sai worshipers attribute every twist in Tamrieilic fate to the wiles of Sai, because 'those people had to be lucky to get there!'

Also Wulfharth was the king of Solitude, not Whiterun.

"Bitter mercy" just refers to the ritual View to the Kill of the Innocent Quarry. It's death.

It's good shit.
>>

By the way, I know it's been done before (in Battlespire), but using that entire ritual Wild Hunt again could be neat. There's a lot of ways it could be used, either with the player as the Hare (like Battlespire) or with the player as the Huntsman.
You could even have it as a NPC thing. Reachmen cults in the remote parts of the Reach recreating the ritual in order to gain Hircine's favour. Would be a nice cult storyline.

I'd pilfer it for the next campaign I'm playing in (supernatural horror/urban fantasy stuff), but i'm not the GM this time around.

>>
>>53510630
Dear anon, before I begin trying to explain it simply, there are some presumptions you must be familiar with:
>nobody knows the creation precisely. all that we can do is try to come up with a narrative through elimination and inferring. anybody who says they have the answer, is trying to sell you a religion.
>greatest creative and metaphysical powers are silent or long gone (or utterly unreliable). those who claim anything on their behalf, is trying to sell you a religion.
>those creators who speak, most often do so on a specific agenda. majority of such characters are proven to be self-centered and manipulative (eg.Daedra)
>omniscience is practically impossible, there are varying degrees and contexts of reality and nothing can know the entire extent of all realities (except for a theoretical Godhead or All-Maker), thus, omniscience is not true. existence is never ending and most probably cyclical. some being who claims to have amassed all knowledge or claims to be an integral part of creation so much so that without their dominance, reality would be impossible to think about (eg. Hermaeus Mora and Alduin) may be right to a certain degree but since there is no way to know if there has ever been an existence without them, we can never assume that they know all the answers or their answers are legitimate in any and all contexts of reality.
>the only way to know the reality for certain, is to transcend what makes you real. those who tried achieving such wisdom have gone missing (zero-sum) or became godly beings (we are not sure if they became godly prior to their enlightenment or the other way, since these beings are beyond conventional logic anee chronology). anyone who tells you that they have achieved godly wisdom, is probably trying to sell you something (eg.Mannimarco).

These are what to keep in mind. These presumptions make it possible for authors and fans to do whatever the fuck they want with the setting.
>>
>>53511736
>ywn live in the pasta kalpa, tasting pristine daedrenonnic spaghetti with your mer-onni bros

Why even live
>>
>>53510630
>>53511854
Now, for ages, with the "globalization" in Tamriel, different cultures realized there are many common themes in their creation myths. These are commonly accepted to be the canon of common faiths (in contrasts to cults, daedea worship and mumbojumbo like Sotha Sil). Although, pretty much every culture still retains their original mythology to a certain degree. This mixture makes it impossible to precisely explain one deities role in a particular event but we still believe the most common idea and regard those who disagree as eccentrics (eg. Lorkhan has very different roles in different mythologies but the common sentiment is that Lorkhan propagated the creation by somehow urging the creation spirits. If you say "but akschually Lorkhan was the best and fuck elves", common people will give you a weird look)
Now, the most commonly accepted narrative is that of the Anuad.
>there is Anu and Padomay, they are the two sides of the same coin
>they argue over creation and disagree. Anu wishes stasis while Padomay wishes change. Their quarrel spawns forth concepts like time, entropy, being, nothingness and so on
>soon, spirits spawn, not unrelated to these concepts. Greatest of these spirits become embodiments of great concepts and other lesser ones, becoming either mixtures of different concepts or being a lesser aspect of a great concept. Some spirits become antagonists to each other and this antagonism causes much strife. Think about it, time is in the domain of stasis since time is the ultimate law, but time also necessitates change and entropy. Thus, we say that greatest of concepts, emulate the dichotomy btw Anu and Padomay. Life and death. Is and isn't. Physical and metaphysical.
>Lorkhan somehow gets the spirits, both greater and lesser ones, to contribute to the creation of a system where Anuic concepts and Padonaic concepts are together. It is done as so. Then spirits realize that now they must confront their counterparts and be antagonized.
>>
>>53512037

Alright, I get it so far. Now what? What happened afterwards? The magna-ge escaped right? And the daedra were the spirits which refused to help with the creation of mundus? How do the elnohfey differ from the aedra, didn't they both create the world? And how are elves related to them? is there really such a thing as elven "racial purity"? How do men and Argonians fit into all this?

sorry, lotta questions
>>
>>53510630
Now some spirits see this antagonism as a sacrifice they must make in order to honor the Convention, the agreement that created the system we call existence. Some spirits denied to contribute anything and they remained looser spirits, unbound by many restrictions of reality (these are the Daedra). Some spirits totally gave away their whole selves to BE something and nothing else (these are the Earthbones). Some spirits of greater concepts found themselves to be responsible for so many rules and laws that they became gods of their domains (these are the Divines). Lastly, some lesser spirits who weren't dedicated to one concept or the other, rather, were mixtures, travelled to the newly created Mundus to be the mortal races. Thus, elves realized they were suckered out of immortality by being nothing but an idea soup. Men realized they had been created so why not live the life by their free will and thus became the greatest annoyance to the elves. Some elves also said fuck it, I make my own way and became Chimer. Some elves got redpilled and became Dwemer. Some became cannibals, fish, cats, santas little helpers and so on.

So now where we are at is this whole mess where we dont know who to worship since we dont know if Divines are a really real thing and only gods we know for sure are real (daedric princes, almsivi and talos) are huge assholes.

For other issues, here's a rundown
>redguards and The Hist (argonians with them) probably migrated from another time, without experiencing the same Convention that created the world we play in
>some Divines are probably less divine than the others (like Talos, who basically canonized himself to be worshipped alongside the Divines, but he probably is a shadow of Anuiel and Lorkhan together)
>some people in TES can become others by emulating them. This also goes for concepts (a basic example is imagine how you "become" Gray Fox. On a larger scale, Talos became the two sides of the same coin where Akatosh and Lorkhan
>>
>>53512379

ah wait, so it's bullshit that the elves are "more divine" than men, then? They were both simply spirits which didn't represent any particular concepts but were bound to the world anyways and simply decided to inhabit it? ok

So if the divines are these spirits that got suckered with too much responsibility, why even bother? Why don't they just say "fuck you im not doing it"? and do the Daedra still remember all these facts about creation and the metaphysical aspects and therefore see the world as basically a huge game?

Why do elves live longer than humans? Doesn't this in itself inherently make them superior? I mean, if it wasn't for Tiber Septim, would men have ever gotten shit done?
>>
>>53509209
>Who created Nirn then?

Anu who gathered the remains of the 12 worlds birthed by Nir.

The Aedra just descended onto Nirn after one of their jackasses said hey it would be cool to do so.

Then they got trapped in the world and lost their powers because Anu created the world so it would reject Phadomaic powers.

Daedra can't descend completely cause they are purely Phadomaic while the Aedra carry both Anuic and Phadomaic traits which allowed them to descend but in the end robbed them of their power.

Meanwhile Magna Ge came down saw it was shit and left.
>>
>>53512577

>12 worlds
>PHAdomaic

nani
>>
>>53512166
Now there are two problems with this round of existence. First is that in the Convention the genius architects decided to create these things called Towers and set one Key for each of them. These were to be the pillars of sustaining reality, without them, the system collapses. With every game we have been losing Towers and Keys and so reality is getting more and more fucked. Problem two is that Alduin, a part of Anu/Anuiel/Auriel/Akatosh whatever you want to call this being of concept, was meant to destroy all existence so that it may be renewed. We stopped him though so Tamriel will probably descend more and more into utter chaos as the laws of reality get broken more and more.

Oh and yeah, sometimes, smenthings can become SO disruptive that they change the system from within the system. Examples include Marukh and Numidium (probably twice).

>>53512166
Divines are probably not gods like Zeus, they are probably "truths". They can't "stop doing thing" because they are not doing stuff to begin with, they just are. Daedra know more than they tell the characters but they know less than players assume. They are not omniscient and many act out roles like a theater play.

Elves live longer because muh DnD. No real metaphysical explanation but there are some myths surrounding this issue (see Orkey and Nords, Syrabane and Altmer).
>>
>>53512451
>so it's bullshit that the elves are "more divine" than men, then?
Elves are more Anuic (mostly) while men are more Padomic (mostly).
>Why don't they just say "fuck you im not doing it"?
Because they don't have a choice in the matter. They're basically bound as a concept with the exception of Akatosh.
>do the Daedra still remember all these facts about creation and the metaphysical aspects and therefore see the world as basically a huge game?
Absolutely.
>Why do elves live longer than humans?
d&d carry over The Altmer "changed the way they walk" to extend their lives. So I assume this means they eat lots of veggies and drink their milk. Most other elves only live a few decades more than a human without magical interference.

And what are these keys? I thought the towers simply had to be physically destroyed

Speaking of the Ra'athim, a week or so ago someone brought up the fate of Barenziah's children, and I forgot to mention that Morgiah actually has a pair of kids, one of which is set to inherit the throne of Firsthold. And that's about as haram as something can get in Alinor, the kids being Dunmer and all that.
We don't know what happened to Morgiah or her children, Goranthir and Rinnala, but you can bet they were pretty high on the Thalmor shit-list. At best they're in exile, at worst they're all dead.

There's a nice potential to make something out of this, have something about Goranthir being the "rightful king" in exile or whatever, but I doubt that's ever going to happen.

Doesn't Meridia have a realm in Oblivion which marks her as a Daedra
>>
>>53519823
That doesn't mean anything. There are Daedra without their realm on Oblivion, like all the lesser Daedra. There are Daedra who have multiple realms on Oblivion. There are realms that contain realms inside, which in turn, contain even more realms inside (Hircine, Nocturnal and Clavicus Vile have such realms). There are realms on Oblivion that weren't created by Daedra like the pocket realm Jagar Tharn created in TES:Arena, and the Gaiar Alata of Mankar Camoran, and the Battlespire, though it was not entirely inside Oblivion. In the game, Battlespire, there are multiple realms created or invaded by Mehrunes Dagon that didn't have a prince. There is also the Soul Cairn, a realm that also not ruled by a prince.

So, even if Meridia is a "proper" Daedric Prince, it's not because she has a realm. And it's also worth noting that Daedra/Aedra distinction is more ideological than factual. Mortals tend to 'understand by analysis' which leads us to name, categorize and rationalize things but these spirits, many of them being Padomaic, are ultimately unconstrained by rules and logic.

Even the definition "Daedric Prince" is pretty loose. Malacath, Meridia and Sheogorath(Hero of Kvatch) really mess up the whole paradigm.

So what DOES define the difference between an Aedra and Daedra? It's just an ideological distiction? I thought the Aedra were bound into rules of reality that constituted concepts (and the earth bones made up the planet itself) and the Daedra chose not to assist and were simply spirits that existed and did whatever they wanted. Do they have to represent the things they do (like madness or dreams) or do they simply choose to? What about Malacath, who represents curses and pariahs but is simply a deformed Aedric spirit? Is he even a daedra right and proper?

>>53532541
First of all, let's remember that Daedric Princes have a multitude of names, shapes, personalities and powers. They simply choose to demonstrate them to mortals according to their wish. For example Dagon in Oblivion and Morrowind is a fucking drama queen. He doesn't "need" those silly horns and arms. All he needs is to become a ball of fucking lava and just roll over Imperial City or Mournhold. So, we know for sure, that Daedric Princes are really into theatre and a lot of times, they just play along.

Imagine you are being referred to as Daedra all the time, by those who respect you and challenge you. Wouldn't you accept the title for the dramatic effect? Just by being referred to as Daedra, these spirits achieved a huge place in public consciousness. It's the same if they were called demons or something. They are just taking advantage of the common peoples beliefs.

Julianos doesn't care if you call him Aedra. Julianos never ever told anyone that he was an Aedra. He didn't even say I'm a Divine. We told ourselves that he is as such.

The definition of the difference between Aedra and Daedra is made up by us. But we are not stupid, when the definition was made, of course some rationalization was made. Julianos and Stendarr have more in common than Dibella and Hermaeus Mora does. But when Zenithar and Peryite look a little bit too similar, people add another precondition to "who to call Aedra/Daedra". In generations, these particular spirits came to be known in their respective categories. This is a reason for the Thalmor stuff, Talos doesn't fit their definition of Aedra.

There is nothing in-game or OOG that says "Hircine can't into madness". Even lesser daedra are absolutely NOT identical. There are honorable Dremora and trickster Dremora and so on. So I believe it's safe to assume that what drives Princes to their domains is choice. This kalpa, Molag Bal chose to be a rapist and last kalpa he was the patron of dreughs.
>>
>>53532541
>>53532741
In connection to this, imagine Sheogorath. What really happened is most probably Sheo wanted the lead role this kalpa and other actors threw a hissy fit. So he said "okay, I'll play two supporting roles then", and everybody was like "good luck".

Then, he got bored and told Hero of Kvatch if he'd like to be famous.

Basically Tiber Septim is 3 people fused into one because the same historical figure represented all these people at the same time. In TES, sometimes, Elder Scrolls keep the name of a character and not the actor, so reality treats you as if you were that character. For example, I'm John, I'm a smith, a husband and a father. I'm the guy LDB sells 10000 iron daggers to. That's my part to play in this chronicle. Elder Scrolls themselves don't care if my name is John or Jack. As long as the part is played, it's all cool. Conventional people can't reach to that level where they can take over conventional roles from other conventional people. However, there are some legendary, prophetic roles in Elder Scrolls. If someone is worthy enough, they will be so effective on the chronicles that they fulfill that grand role, hence, be one with those others who played that role. What happens to us in Morrowind with the Nerevarine Prophecy is this.

Talos, on the other hand, is one dude who saw through the stage and realized the roles were played by actors. He then proceeded to play those roles himself and the other actors were like wtf!? but he didn't stop.

Years later, we are unable to think Talos without Tiber, Wulfharth and Zurin altogether. It's a bit more complicated than this and someone may sperg out at me but this is the gist of it.

Well, there wasn't a difference until what you mentioned happened. Nearly every Daedric Prince has something that makes their role more complicated: if they were at one point considered an Aedra or Magne Ge, if they were transformed, or created somehow.

But why do we still think of Wulfharth and Zurin as being Talos, if in the end they both ended up becoming the Underking? Wouldn't that make them separate from the Talos oversoul or what have you? The Underking existed for a long time and became well known enough to be a boogeyman for High Rock citizens, and when he got the Mantella he seemed to just die.

>>
>>53537775
Like it or not, Skyrim caused a lot of Altmer-hate, since the race as a whole was strongly associated with the Thalmor. Even before then, I don't think they were liked all that much, though it's hard to say.

Bosmer were always joked about even in the games - Fargoth, the Adoring Fan, all that stuff. They're surprisingly unique from traditional ideas of wood elves, but that can also make them rather off-putting.
>>
>>53538032

That's just autismo entry level fans though. It seems like even in lore threads, people don't like altmer that much. It's a shame because canonically they actually have a lot of interesting shit going for them and they have a cool society.
>>
>>53537839
There's a theory that, because Talos wasn't a thing when Daggerfall was made (for real world reasons, obviously) that when the Warp in the West happened the Underking rejoined with Tiber and this was when his actually apotheosis happened.
There can be two people who became one person but there's still remnants of both.
>>
>>53538417
I don't really know what to say on that point - maybe everyone just assumed they were standard generic elves. And even beyond entry level fans, I feel like the Thalmor idea has tainted the Altmer for a lot of people.
>>
>>53532741

Oh great sages, answer me this:

Do you still play any of the Elder Scrolls games? I have a strong love for the Elder Scrolls, but I grow tired of the endless struggle through dungeons searching for increasingly heavier equipment and loot in a Sisyphean struggle. I've tried the UESRPG, but I've had little luck with it, and somehow it's hard to avoid making the world feel a little flat.

Has your love of the lore of the series grown distant from any sort of interaction with the series itself? I want to do more - I should actually play the Oblivion DLCs for once - but it always feels like such a hassle.
>>

I am a patient man, though. I'll play it someday, I'm sure.

That's a pretty good question - from what little I know, it seems like women avoid a lot of sexual experiences after rape. May not really have a good answer.

But in general it's never really a fair comparison to make, though. It'd be like going 'After Peryite infects you, all other diseases feel easy.' That's not true - in the moment, a bad headache can feel as bad as the week after wisdom teeth. Memory fades, what is here and now taking precedence over what was.

Sorry to hear Oblivion is boring you man, but I understand. It's got older graphics, it's not mechanically deep as Morrowind (if better than Skyrim), and trading off the dark age Skyrim for the generic fantasy Oblivion might not be your cup of tea.

It's still sad how good at a game it is underneath in some ways, though. NPCs usually have detailed schedules throughout the day or week - sometimes even travelling to other cities once a month. Sometimes you see random thieves in cities that get cut down by guards. It turns out there are named goblin tribes that you can get to war with each other, or kill their shaman to cause them to become peaceful with you. There are some interesting tidbits of lore, such as the lich in Lost Boy Cavern, the rumors about other provinces. The villages are boring, but can have some unique background - the village with the Lovecraft-style cult, a group of Bretons (who swear by Y'ffre) settling in the Nibenay, a fun little quest to help a village of invisible people. I hate how enemies level with me in Oblivion and changes to armor types move too fast, causing me to fall behind if I'm not careful - but it's better than Skyrim, where I'm stuck with iron or steel well into level 20 or so, and I can survive and even thrive with rather basic spells and weapons. So much good about Oblivion has been ignored because it's clunky and ugly and old.

Basically by now I should be in love with Morrowind, but it's yet challenging for me.

I only love the lore because I enjoy playing the games. It enriches the world in a right way. Makes my character feel small and insignificant which is great.

Every other year I fire up a relatively unmodded Morrowind. Usually with just some tame graphical update, bugfixes and few quests.
Same with Oblivion but with a bit more mods. For example I cannot play it without OOO anymore.

As for Skyrim I mod it up the ass. It can really open up completely different playthroughs. Best way to play it is to completely devote yourself to a set role and install a bunch of mods that restrict you in some way. No fast travel, no quest markers/better journal, basic needs mods, perma-death etc.
