One final magnetization question, and I'll be done.

Just threw my magnets in, but had a little bit of super glue spread around the joint on a couple models.
I'm willing to bet that paint wont stick to it, so I'll re-prime them (in retrospect I should have done the priming after anyway, it seems, but live and learn). I don't anticipate it to cause problems, but will the primer mess with the magnets at all? I'm assuming almost imperceptibly lower strength, but figured I'd check first.

Just got done playing a game of 8th based off the leaked rules.

It's fucking amazing. Unless there's smething we don't know about that changes everything, this edition will be the best one yet. It was quite literally the funnest game of 40k I've ever played.

Just did marines vs marines, interperted a few stats for stuff based off what we know, like thunder hammers being the same as powerfists, and rhinos being T7 9W, since that's around where they should be given the other vehicles shown. Used points based off current editon stuff, figuring what's about 1000 points now should be about 1000 points next edition.

It's seriously so fucking fun, and that's just based off the tidbits of info we've gotten. Battleshock, which was the biggest gripe I had, turned out to be fine, and that's without whatever bonuses ATSKNF will give.
But the combat and shooting is definitely the best part. I got into the hobby because of the original DoW's intro cinematic, and to me being able to do that is what I've always wanted from 40k, and this edition delivered it. Dreadnoughts can actually kill things, heavy bolters feel like massive .75 explosive machine guns and not just something to be ignored by 3+ or better. Termies actually did something, but weren't just "live if AP3 or worse, die to anything greater". Flamers are deadly as fuck.
The changes to melee actually make it viable and fun, this was the first game in a long time where my serg with BP+CS actually not only felt useful, but like the demi-god of war they should be.

Models seem to die a lot faster this edition, but in a fun way. You have a chance to shrug off even lascannons with marines, so it's not like it's just stuff at or better than AP3 just looks at marine and they die.
Can't wait for the full rules for all the units, because so far this is great

GW has a history of leaving nids out to dry, and I think this edition may not be much of a change. especially now with scaled AP and multi-damage guns, those MC's are gonna need a big patch to not get downed very, very quickly.

Maybe it's caution over how awful they've been in the past, but a lack of invulns and little information on their shooting capability (assault will be good I think) has me on edge.

Newbie getting into 40k with 8th.

In general how does equipment work. I am about to assemble a Blood Angel tactical squad and probably a Death Company assault squad.

In general it seams like Sergeant gets some neat toys and then one marine gets a heavy weapon and another a specialized weapon. Is this a rule?

Same would go for the Death Company assault squad. Anything stopping me, outside of point cost, from just giving them all power swords over the chainswords? Is it generally just a few special weapons per squad?

Maybe I should just pirate 7th edition rulebook to get some basics like this while waiting for 8th to drop.

I want to make my first army as a custom chapter of Custodes with a judge-like aspect to them, slaughtering anyone, including entire astartes chapters if needed, the emperor deems guilty.

I plan to wait till 8th edition to start making the army, but what weapons can you outfit a Custode with? Are they stuck with their default weaponry or can they take stuff like flamers and power fists? I dont know shit about the legality of customizing minis. Also, allies. Would Black Templar make for good allies if i opted for it? What aboug Sisters of Battle?

I haven't seen anything in the rules spoilers so far that says each detachment can't be a different faction. Wonder if matched play is going to have different rules for that.

I think that's why it irritates me so much. There's no other realistic choice. GW has stores and constant streams of updates and content on the internet. You can just hang around the stores and reliably find games and people to talk about the game with. Even though there are tons of different types of game stores in my neighborhood, there's not a single reliable player base for anything other than card games and 40k/AoS.

The Vexilla replaces the Spear so unfortunately you're stuck with a Power Knife (basically just a power sword), but you can take a shield with it.

There is no record of a Custode turning traitor. I'm not even sure they can. They've almost always been with the Emperor when on the field and until now deployed in full force to a single area in support of their liege. As such turning Traitor really isn't a possibility.

They are more dehumanized by their creation than Space Marines and as such really only ever think about ways to protect him. Their gene engineering may very well make them totally immune to Chaos in the same way the Emperor himself is.

The 'No Go Zone' for things like deep-strike is more than 9'' from enemy units, so it is more easy than ever to deploy your units in such a way that something coming in can't land anywhere near your precious stuff.

Honestly I would consider rethinking the Custodes as the main force. Minotaurs or a Minotaur-esq force would be best. They answer to the High Lords of Terra directly and the Captain-General of the Adeptus Custodes sits among their number. Sending out a force of Custodes to deal with large groups of enemies (an entire Space Marine chapter for example) is wasteful. Custodes preform poorly against large numbers of enemies because they are warriors not soldiers. Their duties, training, and gene engineering are focused away from large scale combat.

If you sent a squad or two to oversee a Space Marine force that answers to the Captain-General then you'd be in business.

I don't mind 8th Edition's rules and I will maintain my stance that GW's marketing practices are, in theory, getting better than what they were.

in the end there's the popular trope of rebellious people being right all along, in this case the fallen, who in fact seem to have been divided between actual chaos traitors and the ones that were actually trying to do the good thing, like xypher, but are considered renegades and hunted for it.

it's unlikely that the current dark angels are traitors, but the same we can't say about the primarch, I think, who supposedly is just "sleeping" inside the rock, where the dark angels also cage other chaotics and have mysterious anti-chaos guardians.
