At least you got it right on the tank itself. Which is pretty nice, by the way. Got any pics of the rest of the army? Luna Wolves often end up looking kind of boring, so I'd be interested to see more.

I don't, basically, apart from on the coils of the plasmagun themselves. Which I do in a pretty halfassed way: paint it blue, wash blue, then drybrush white. Works well enough.

What legion do you play? Could see it working for some, but definitely not for others.

Trying to get a militia army together, but I know little about 30k, are they any good? how do they work?

I'm doing the standard survivors of the dark age/ warrior elite cheese with a couple S5 laslock grenadiers in rhinos, two max blobs of grenadiers with S4 las rifles, two sets of 3 rapiers, 2 vanilla leman russes, and topped off with a giant blob of 10 AP3 autocannons with my 3++ warlord in it so they don't run away

Is this shit or good?

I wanted to do a diorama of Death Guard from Dusk Raider beginnings through to 40k plague Marine (when they're released)

the dusk raider is still wet and WIP.

Thin layers of the glow-colour with a little bit of more white paint added to it each time. They key is to stop before you can no longer see the underlaying colour through the glow effect. Because then it just looks lazy and cheap.

How do I Imperial Fist?

I chose the Fists for a few reasons. My main force is Night Lords and I wanted something to contrast with them. Fists felt like a good fit: they're bright, shooty, and loyalist where NLs are dark, choppy, and traitor. Also, I found a good tutorial for doing yellow without needing to pull my hair out, so that's a plus.

Using my spare Calth/Prospero bits and FW shoulder pads and other legion upgrades, the core of my army will be three 15-man tactical squads and a pair of veteran squads.
I'm not sure how to kit the veterans (I'm thinking a power fist, missile launcher, and heavy bolter in each?), and I could also use advice on how to expand from there.
Just note that I don't like using named characters, so Siggy, Dorn, and the like are out.

I want to fluff my Ordo Reductor fleet reasonably, but if they bring Battlefleet Gothic back I obviously want to collect it. Was too late to the party to play the old one, were there Admech ships in it and/or were they any good?

Also, what was the usual size for a reasonable Admech or if theyre not a thing Imperial Navy fleet for regular games, and what different ship types did they have? Would be nice to bring all the different ships in my 30/40k army background into there too.

Then watch out, Anon. The Ordo Reductor uses Galeass class ships instead of the usual Ark Mechanicum. Source HH5.
>>
>>52671444
Yeah, I saw that bit. IIRC they're basically less well-armed battlecruisers that are way more self-sufficient and have better auxilary facilities, right? Should be doable if they let you put support systems and fighter squadrons on ships, although I have no idea how the dice game worked having only played the Armada vidya.
>>
>>52670983
I heard you used a marker for the white on the bolter, do you mind telling me what it is for my TSons?
>>

There were AdMech ships added later in the game's life, basically Imperial Navy classes plus a dorsal lance. Rules here (see "Ships of Mars"): tinyurl krvjax4 (4chan doesn't like the full link so fill in the gaps yourself).

You can actually get the ships from "Irene ^_^" on Aliexpress. They put BFG ships up on their aliexpress site sometimes, and then they get taken down within hours. Just email them.
>>
>>52671024
Templars are great at assault, one of the best loyalists get. Use them to chop up the enemy's veterans, heavy support squads, destroyers, armor they can bypass and they'll happily do their job with little recourse.

Phalanx warders are.. odd. I only run a single unit, and I make it somewhat pricey with axes. They're effectively t5 most of the match, except the turn they charge, so give them an apothecary and only a small handful of weapons will bypass their fnp. I use them as a reaction unit rather than a proactive unit. Basically they're there to get between deep striking or outflanking units looking to assault something of mine, be it a tank or expensive unit... they're my fire jumpers so to speak.

If it can get a large blast over two bots in a unit, with BS5 and twin linked it's fucking trivial to get 8 S10 AP2 hits on a unit of artalax or castellax. It can even fuck over thanatars pretty well and even has a S6 AP4 7" blast template to wipe out thralls.

You're thinking of caunter camo, which was more like tan and a few shades of gray (but in long lines with straight edges down the length of the tanks). At least one of those shades would fade to a bluish color in strong UV light, leading people decades later to mistakenly believe that the original color was bright blue.

Kek, so a whalebird isn't silly but a dish antenna coming out its blow hole is? You could use external gills, despite whales not being fish. They look like antennae and wouldn't use up too much internal space.

Jetbikes at least have a good armor save. I'd say they're more durable than Javelins (definitely don't use normal Speeders since bolters can shoot them down).

>>
>>52674138
Well, I'm trying to run an Orbital Assault army. Problem is, I may automatically lose if I go second and have no model on the table (due to the drop pods).

So I need a unit that can hold the table for at least one shooting phase before the pods drop in.

And sait unit has to have in-built Deep Strike rule due to OA RoW limitation.

Horus and Lion were the most apt commanders. Horus was the extrovert, Lion the introvert. Sanguinius was close but but was less commander and more warrior. Gulliman was always meant to be the on-deck in-the-wings backup in case shit, which he was and is. But the most talented or skilled? He wasn't by far. Hence the regimented and checked and double checked everything. He had to work really hard to make up for the talent and skill some others had. This often occurs in the real world. The difference between them is Dorn wouldn't even try to make up with you, whereas Guilliman gave you a chance to come around after having an honest talk or confrontation. Guilliman had "vehement" disagreements with Perty, Angron, and Lorgar - but he wouldn't stop talking to them or dismiss them as hopeless. He'll give you a well thought out explanation and come talk to you about it at a later date.

>>
>>52676288

Lets not go into semantics. Technically, Russ didn't fail his mission because Magnus escaped through arcane means. So legally speaking, he did his duty in that he showed up and did what he was told to do.

But Russ was entirely to blame for the colossal fuckup that we see as the sum of all combat operations on Prospero.
>>

He felt he failed the Emperor. Thats why he didn't come home. He didn't have the heart to meet the Emperor and tell Him what happened.

The standard was the edict. Horus shenanigans notwithstanding, Russ gave the order to burn the world which lead to the colossal fuckup which was to follow. 2. They had to suffer some big defeat to justify their slightly larger than chapter size when the Second Founding begins
3. The Emperor never told Russ to stay on Terra
>>
>>52676499

He should have figured out the high possibility that it was Magnus who sent the defense fleets away and blocked communications. If he was too stupid to figure that out (which I doubt, because the lore is filled with line after line about his strategic genius), Valdor was constantly telling him about it in five minute intervals. The edict said to arrest him and burn down his works, but that didn't necessitate the use of force against the PDF or the population.

And lastly, we're talking about a dude who was willing to wrestle with Angron face to face in front of his retinue, but suddenly hes faced with zero opposition on Prospero and he doesn't want to fly down and see for himself what the fuss was about? (At least before burning everything and forcing everyone on the planet to defend themselves.)

>>
>>52677301

There's loads of different canon representations of bare ceramite.

1) Stained Porcelain
DG are explicitly stated to be in bare ceramite, with only the green accents painted on.

2) Glossy Grey
See the IH colour plate of the guy who had a mixed Mk.III/IV cuirass; the Mk.IV portions were unpainted and a shiny, almost plastic grey.

3) Matte Grey
Original Legion musters during the Unification Wars and Early Crusade were a uniform "storm grey."

4) Metallic Silver
Fists Exemplar during the Scouring/Beast War did not paint their armour, and it's described multiple times to be "chrome."

>>

>>
>>52677355
Knight-Errant have bear ceramite (matte grey) and I do believe GK have polished ceramite (silver). GW sells "ceramite white" paint.

How about this:
>ceramite is grey
>it can have an oxide layer of white
>it can be polished to give a reflective, silver grey sheen

Personally, I always thought the DG white was just a primer.
>>
>>52677301
>>52677355
It really depends on two things: what you think ceramite is, and what finishes you think that material will take.

If it's a ceramic, it can contain metals but is non-metallic in appearance.

If it's an alloy, it's more likely to be metallic in appearance.

Ceramics and metals will both accept a variety of finishes, depending on how they're shaped into their final production forms, and how they're treated afterward. You might think of ceramic bowls, for example - earthenware and porcelain are very different materials (and by no means representative of all ceramics - just of the more commonly encountered ones) which will accept a variety of finishes. Commonly, they're finished with a clear glaze, but the natural color of both materials can vary greatly.

With metals, not only does the composition of the alloy make a big difference to refraction and color, but they can be finished in a variety of styles to produce even more results. 'Bare' doesn't mean they can't be polished to a mirror sheen or given a brushed metal look, for example, nor does it give many clues to final color. Power armor is typically said to be composed of ceramite, plasteel and adamantium in varying degrees; plasteel implies steel, but with qualities like those of plastic (any color, really), while adamantium has no real fixed color in mythology (as adamantine).

Later-era fluff has Custodes armor made of Auramite, said to be similar to ceramite but clearly implying gold - Au - so that could be your starting point. Since gold is relatively useless as armor, maybe something gold-en is used in increasing quantities to provide protection differences between ceramite and auramite? A very faint tan wash over bare gunmetal or silver might imply the link.

>‘Yes. I expect they will.’ Oquin smiled sadly. ‘A harsh reaction when refusal is given, but far from abnormal in a compliance action. That’s what this is. A compliance for the Warmaster’s new Imperium.’ Oquin deliberately turned his back on Spall. ‘But as I learned when I took part in the slaughter of the Bathranin, Spall, some things are worth more than life. Perhaps worth more than the life of an entire world.

>‘Now, I am going to walk out of that door and give them my answer. Feel free to shoot me in the back. I am confident you won’t. Not if you remember even dimly what we were fighting for.’

definitely deep striking the banana boys. even adding some sagittarum because the rule of cool > the rules of those bolters. so I can take a day of revelation as an allied detachment right? that would be pretty neat, the only thing I'm set on taking is a 10 man mk3 support squad with volkite chargers in a pod/dreadclaw because I have the models and like how they look.
>>
>>52680897
I mean you can consider Custodes and Sisters to have them, especially since the latter uses them in a squad.

I could imagine Blood Angels and early Emperors Children having them too. Birds of Prey and motifs fit the bill.

How much $ will I need to spend to build a competitive Tahgmata/Cybernetica force? Thinking of about 2000pts.

Caliban Dark Angels were all about hunting and the Ravenwing were the recon and pursuit specialists of the legion so a cyber bird would suit them. There's some 40k art of a Ravenwing Astartes using a cyber bird.

Legion, although it's mainly about one specific army regiment rather than the imperial army as a whole. Which rather sums up the problem: the imperial army at this time wasn't anything like as uniform.

Also the Marcus Valarien storyline from the Corax books.
>>
>>52681593
No, it is from Wrath of Magnus. The same book where it becomes clear that SW Runepriests have been channeling what is likely daemonic warp juice from a warp entity imprisoned in Fenris.

How would have Angron been if he didn't have the Butcher's nails?

Same world and same story but no nails

(Im pretty sure he might have joined Horus too, but would have been quite a different story)
>>

Huh, turns out Space Wolves are better Psykers than the Thousand Sons. :^)
>>
>>52681812
Pretty similar to Russ.
>>
>>52680180
Wasn't that thing literally cast from lead?
>>
>>52681812
I think Guilliman commented that he would be similar to Sanguinius. Since the War Hounds were very martial and honourable I imagine them like Imperial Fists in spirit and Space Wolves in style.

As for who Angron would declare for if he didn't have the nails I think it would be impossible to say since his anger at the Emperor was from his combined hatred of high riders and the fact that the Emperor kidnapped him from his gladiator pals. Neither of which would have happened if he didn't have the nails.
>>
>>52681812
You almost might as well ask what the two missing primarchs were like. The nails were such a core part of his personality that he's a bit of a blank slate without them.

I guess if we assume he was still a slave-gladiator, but without the nails, then maybe he'd have ended up a bit like Corax in outlook (but without the sneaky beaking approach to warfare). He could well have conquered de'shea too if he applied his primarch's intellect to the slave rebellion.
>>

Then why you play HH. It's literally "power armored fucks- the setting".
Or are you one of those fags that has to be the snowflake where ever you go?
>>
>>52681852
Well the SW did make sure the TS lost that competition. By killing 90% of the TS and forcing their primarch to choose between dieing or pledging his soul to a chaos god. After that the SW just had to keep up appearences for 10k years.

It's hilarious how similiar SW are to actual chaos space marines. The only reason they're still 'loyal' is probably because they're too retarded to realize what they actually are :^)

Also, when I wipe out an army of marines that's a lot bigger deal than the enemy wiping out an army of Mechanicum. OH NOES, like 12 combat robots and a couple servitor-tanks, from a fleet contingent of thousands. It's fun, since I don't lose much even when I lose compared to them.

If the Mech player is running what, twelve Castellax, then yeah. He'll have like one scoring unit after HQ taxes at 2K, just shoot that then enjoy him not being able to do significant damage to Rhinos or Predators or anything more than 30" away as you kill his HQ units and bait all the few remaining boops into a 20-man tac squad or two to stay there forevermore. Cybernetica have surprisingly little offensive output for cost, they pay a lot for durability.
>>
>>52682409
If one army dies a lot slower than the opposing army it still wins most of the time. Necrons with decurion buffs can be OP because of that principle.
>>
>>52681954
They're Loyal, so they're automatically in the top 9 legions.
>>
>>52682457

Unlike Necrons, Cybernetica has fuck-all maneuverability and is insanely screwed vs Instant Death or close combat, since none of it can sweep ever. Yeah, they're tough, that's what they do, but they're really not versatile at all or cause much damage for cost. 3 AP3 shots at 24" or 3 S6 AP2 attacks for 105 points is surprisingly useless next to Predators, Missile supports, Mymidons of either kind, pretty much anything with plasma etcetera. It's a good Nidzilla list, basically. Apply Paragon Blade from Land Raider or Leviathan Dread ever and it will probably be all good.

I was about to >:^) you but then realise that you are actually right. All the traitors are super retarded, even saying this as a Thousand Sons fan.

SoH - became traitors because Horus got tricked into believing a vision that would only come true if they were traitors, do you think at some point in a war council he looked at his traitor brothers and realised these are all the ones that weren't shown as statues in the vision?

EC - became traitors because Fulgrim stuck an evil sword up his bum, also killed off a bunch of potentially useful traitor marines because they weren't pretty enough

DG - became traitors for reasons, then sorta regretted it for a bit, then got turned into walking bags of shite

TS - basically they pushed the big red button labelled 'do not touch', then pushed it a bunch more times

WE - so willing to suck primarch ass they gave themselves brain damage

IW - got offered the shitty end of the stick and grabbed it anyway

NL - became traitors for edgy reasons, Emperor never really treated Curze as badly as he did some other traitor primarchs and allowed him to be an edge lord. Basically Curze was the moody teenager going through a goth phase and his dad was fine with it until Curze started torturing animals

AL - became traitors because their enemy told them it would be a good idea

WB - literal weakling primarch, can't handle not having an idol, saw a ritual sacrifice and a snake daemon and though this would be a good thing for the entire galaxy
>>
>>52682590
>do you think at some point in a war council he looked at his traitor brothers and realised these are all the ones that weren't shown as statues in the vision?
My interpretation is that by the time all the signs were there, Chaos had their hooks into him too deep for him to recognize it.

Also, an idiot like Lorgar is literally the reason why the Emperor didn't tell the Primarchs about the Chaos Gods. He may have made some mistakes, but that one isn't as big as people make it out to be.

I love how the Awooboos refuse to admit that Russ was essentially a 6 year old and a massive incompetent when it came to dealing with Magnus. Sending a single, half arsed message by way of a Telepath is a shitty excuse to say that the Yiffking exhausted all reasonable options, especially since he had Valdor on hand, which was infinitely more diplomatic then he ever was, proving that he is not only incompetent, but also incapable of realizing this own shortcomings. This makes the Wolves even worse as they wasted a perfectly loyal legion for no reason other then being lazy

>>>>>>>>>>>>>perfectly loyal
>>
>>52683209
Why would a traitor legion go out of their way to try and warn the emperor about Horus
>>
>>52683189
Maybe they were worried about their reputation. If they properly exhausted all non-violent options before attacking, people outside the legion might start thinking the space wolves were capable of acting in a sensible, rational manner. Therefore they had to act like mindless barbarians, even though they're not mindless barbarians, to make sure everybody thinks they're mindless barbarians.
>>
>>52683304
prospero was just a prank
>>
>>52683189
>he had Valdor on hand
And when Constantin Valdor is the fucking voice of reason, it's a good sign that you're probably taking things too far. But yeah, thinking things through is definitely not one of Russ' strong points. In fact, I think being brash and impetuous, to the point of being stupid sometimes, is his defining flaw.

Highligtest best with the fate of the loyal Imperial Army regiment who was resupplying on Prospero when the retribution force arrived. They tried to communicate with the wolves and were ignored, and when the Custodes and others finally arrived and tried to talk to them, the Army troops were no longer in any mood to. even if that were the case, the fact the Imperial Retribution fleet contained Custodians and other Imperial forces, Russ could have easily hidden behind the famous "We had to be diplomatic otherwise Valdor and Co wouldn't play ball." type of excuse.

Hell, in Valdor, Russ had the ultimate envoy to send down and have a chat, his position as captain of the Custodians would guarantee his safe passage with any legion that is loyal, and if they did kill him, he had the perfect pretext to commence a regular assault, and executing the TS as traitors.

Fact was, Emps should have send Dorn instead, that would have fixed this entire issue without the massive bloodshed and the retarded justification that Russ fans dream up.

Horus winked at him and gave him a compliment. Plus he hated tyrants and thought the emperor was one. No real reason in the end.

Russ fags really are the worst, most other people manage to fault their primarch in some way but SW fans seem to think everything he did was justified and that he is never wrong.

Lorgar's entire plan was about Horus falling.
Angron was uncontrollable anyway, but Mortarion didn't give a fuck about Guilliman.
Alpharius didn't care either way, he was always doing shit his own way.
Dorn would have followed the Emperor's will wherever it took them. Russ saw himself exempt from the order of the primarchs.
Curze had only ever had something akin to trust with Fulgrim, Mortarion and Horus.
Perturabo gifted Guilliman with an ingenious clockwork that stood on Macragge during the Heresy. The Lion didn't care about Horus being the Warmaster as he saw himself more than fit for the title. The Khan wasn't uncontrollable, but was happy doing his job which Guilliman would have made sure to be to the Vth's taste.

GW used a 'white metal', which is just a legal class of alloys, but changed their mix in the mid 90s to remove all lead.

As with English Pewter, which is a similar substance (primarily tin) which formerly contained lead (until the mid 1970s), GW's white metal quite likely swapped out lead for copper or antimony. Zinc is sometimes found in similar alloys, but is also I think often excluded where handling and toxicity are likely to cause problems.

Pure lead or mostly-lead alloys would have been so heavy as to be impractical even for very small items (never mind that foot-long monster) and so soft as to be unusable.

No, they didn't. One of the many tragedies of Mortarion.

Mortarion hated tyrants and witches, and fundamentally he was Horus's most reliable right hand man (and even when he was losing it he was still more sane and far more reliable than the next most sane and secular guy) - to his mind he was allying with the only brother that showed him friendship against a father who was, through a certain lens, basically the same as the one Mortarion swore to murder back on Barbarus - a witch who saw Mortarion, and humanity as whole really, as nothing more than a weapon.

I recall the DG fighting to take the space port, where the White Scars counter attacked and contested it during the battle of Terra.

Is that counting being used as a weapon against sorta your own kind and having all your "servants" and allies be undead monstrosities?

Little Horus doesn't survive the heresy right?

Don't forget the part when the EC goes on a raping roadtrip on Terra when they get bored with the seige.

That's not really a prediction, it's just canon.

They might build in Sanguinius biiiiiig.

> kills blood thirster
> banishes daemon Angron till first war of Armageddon
> kills that red angel daemon thing and frees his son

In other words kills the other 3 big red guys.

I doubt Ka'bandha will show up for the siege, he already got destroyed at Signus.
>>
>>52684910
There's no mention of him after it. abaddon and liver get mentioned, and Loken will probably either die, or become a grey knight.

the daemon fragment of tormageddon is now inside of a new Mournival guy, who is probably going to die at Lokens hands to release him.
>>
>>52685874
Didn't Sanguinius battle a famous blood thirster at the siege? Can't remember if it was Ka'bandha or not thought.
>>
>>52685874
Samus keeps reappearing after really short periods of time. I guess time flows differently in the warp when it comes to the years daemons have to wait to respawn, or something.
>>
>>52685993
Old fluff he threw down Ka'bandha. But in the new fluff he already did that during Signus. So who knows what will happen. Maybe Angron will get thrown down this time.

Kibre not liver**

Stupid auto correct

nice dildo
>>
>>52686075
I thought Samus was really weird for a demon though. Especially Khorne.
