The Draconic Avenger, from N.Jolly's "Legendary Villains - Vigilantes" playtest (which unfortunately is one of the few archetypes that has still yet to be given a proper release in another book). You get a Drake companion; you know, those shitty things from Blood of Dragons that took forever-and-a-half to become able to be ridden, and ate through all of your class features? Yeah, firstly you can start riding it from level 5 onward, as it becomes Medium and can carry things as if it were Large. It gains flight, the ability to fly while carrying someone, a bunch of natural attacks, and several other powers for what is basically free (only costing you your Vigilante Specialization, your "Appearance" abilities at 5th/11th/17th, and your Vengeance Strike at 20th). Finally, it stacks with Exposed Vigilante, so you don't even need to give your drake a mask (although you can always turn it into a psuedodragon to get past security)!

It's a martial weapon, that's why.

People still don't know that one exotic weapon of your choice is basically free for anyone with martial proficiency, that's the issue. You don't want to spend a feat on Weapon Focus, so get a Wayfinder and plug a cracked Opalescent White Pyramid in it (2000gp total - you should never not do this if you're a martial), and a side-benefit is weapon familiarity in its keyed weapon type.

That does nothing for crossbows. Plus, while early firearms would be martial, anything with metal cartridges is even simpler than a crossbow.

Crossbows are already simple weapons - which makes sense - but that simplicity was literally their advantage. Like "is cold iron" or 'better at tripping', crossbows are 'straightforward and easy to learn'.

Problem is, d20 system decided they had to pay multiple times for this simplicity.

Is there any magic item that generates weapons or rope at will? Trouble is that my upcoming setting is sci-fi future-Earth. I'm not one of the people who thinks psionics is somehow sci-fi, but it makes far fewer assumptions about the world you're playing with.
