FUCK STONE GIANTS
>>
>>52336739

I want to include Giants as the inventors of rifles and the great equalizer to the dragon problem!
>>
>>52336742
I can't do that. Unless I stay regular and fap three times a day or more, it starts fucking with my head, and everything I write has intensely romantic and sexual themes.
>>
>>52335414
Too gross. A protective older brother can't be gross, Anon. That isn't cute.

>>52335443
Cursed Wounds is a classic. What's a neat curse or cursing effect that someone's shitty half-brother could employ to fuck them up?
>>
>>52336766
Are Vilderavn angry though? They're cruel, but I'm not sure they're thematically about Neverending Wrath.
>>
>>52336776
>intensely romantic
Is that so bad, though?
>>
>>52336739
>tfw actually like how Warcraft did the "Humans are descended from giants" thing
>want to implement something similar in my setting, but don't know which giant variants would live on plains long enough to shrink

Ack.
>>
>>52336739
We just killed about three dozen giants so we could ask another giant for help using his giant powers to figure out a giant tome. But he wants us to track down the giant giants who were gianting up his giant house before he'll giant us giant help.
>>
>>52336801
...goddamn it, I know exactly what adventure you're talking about.
>>
>>52336797
Man, it can be. Most of my villains are sad and/or crazy people obsessed with some romantic object of their affections when I'm not careful. It's bad to be repetitive.

If I stay regular, I go back to writing ruthless usurpers instead.
>>
>>52336801
Giant giant giant giant giant giant giant
It doesn't look like a word anymore.
>>
>>52336845

Anon, what it sounds like is you need to ease off the three-a-days and try to let your hormones settle out before trying to nofap.
>>
>>52336680
How effective has knowledge of mimics been at protecting players from mimics, though?

Vilderavn are the exact same kind of enemy. It's too late by the time you realize there is one involved.
>>
>>52336862
But when I ease off I end up doing crazy things like applying to Polish Lithuanian Decentralization
>>
>game concept
>begins at level 3
>every player must be a criminal in some manner, a criminal terrible enough to warrant removal from society
>players start out having been teleported to a prison colony
>prison colony is the domain of a Void Wendigo, who acts as the warden in exchange for a steady supply of prisoners to consume and torment
>the colony is a massive number of vessels (since they are magical they range from floating castles, actual spaceships, islands, featureless orbs) floating in the void
>Void Wendigos attack anything that goes by, so they collect massive ship graveyards
>it's somewhere out beyond the edge of the Aucturn, the Stranger
>players have to participate in gang politics, numerous cell blocks infighting, avoiding the void wendigo, tribal like cultures, weird pockets of people trying to be civilized, the strange ecology that's developed, and more
>at the center of it there are the wardens and guards who ensure no one gets out
>>

Reposting >>52336103 to the new general.

Alright /pfg/, we're going to decide it once and for all tonight- what's the best way to handle level advancement in Pathfinder, tracking EXP or leveling up when the narrative/DM says so?

Advantages of tracking EXP:
1. PCs are given a sense of progress by the accumulation of their EXP
2. PCs can't bitch at the DM about being "overdue" to level
3. This is the expected default way of doing it, especially when starting a game with a new group

Advantages of narrative-based leveling:
1. Less book-keeping, you don't need to keep track of EXP
2. DM doesn't need to ration out or budget EXP to make sure the PCs level up at the rate he wants
3. PCs are less encouraged to murderhobo because enemies aren't walking bags of EXP
4. The PCs leveling up will always coincide with satisfying or dramatic moments in the story

I'm sure I'm messing other stuff, so tell me anything you think I forgot. Also, throw votes at this Strawpoll: http://www.strawpoll.me/12595038 (embed)

>>
I want to just end my game and start anew (new DM that let the PCs level way too quickly, now they're just gods of combat).

So far the only idea is for the BBEG to trap the city they live in up in the sky until the entire city starves to death.

But not only is it more of a twist in terms of expectations, but it almost feels more emotional since it's the people who are awful. There's no big bad at the end. There are no heroes.

What is a man?
>>
Someone in my group wants to play a Zealot from expanded Path of War. Zealots regain chamod maneuvers from using Aid Another as a move action, or from using a standard action to regain a single one. Starting at level one, they have "Compartmentalized Aid", which allows them to use Aid Another on themselves to gain a bonus to attack/ac, activate Zeal, and regain maneuvers.

Why would you ever use a standard action to regain a single maneuver? Am I missing something?
>>
>>52337052
Nethys, though he ascended. Baba Yaga, I guess? All the Runelords, Xin.
>>
>>52337081
What's so bad about Razmir? Dude's got a lockdown on his population not through magical means, but through having a fucking cocaine Empire!
>>
>>52337084
I don't get the meme either.
>>
>>52337081
>>52337073
Razmir isn't mythic so I wouldn't normally count him. Were the Runelords mythic?

So:
>Razmir, the Living God
>Tar-Baphon, the Whispering Tyrant
>Geb
>Nex
>Alaznist, Runelord of Wrath
>Belimarius, Runelord of Envy
>Karzoug, Runelord of Greed
>Krune, Runelord of Sloth
>Sorshen, Runelord of Lust
>Xanderghul, Runelord of Pride
>Zutha, Runelord of Gluttony
>>
How would one make a qlippoth tiefling girl cute while simultaneously keeping her creepy, revolting, and overall vile?

>>
>>52337114
>There are no heroes.

That's what happens when you kill everyone who was brave enough to fight back. Everyone else pees themselves and stays home and tries to wait you out.
>>
>>52337142
My theory is that Gloriana shilled herself two or three times and annoyed someone enough to attract a permanant falseflag.
>>
>>52337113
That's just what Sorshen wants you to believe.
>>
>>52337131
>Why would you ever use a standard action to regain a single maneuver? Am I missing something?
I'm 99% that nearly all non-bushi initiators can recover as a standard. It's just something they have naturally, even if it doesn't make sense ala zealot.
>>
>>52337151
But anon, the /pfg/ was in you all along. A man cannot hate that which is not in himself.

It's why I can only feel pity over all of this.
>>
>>52336739

One of my friends rolled up a ranger once, with the backstory that trolls destroyed her hometown and so her favored enemy above all else was giants of all kinds. A flaming mithral longsword became her weapon of choice.

That giant-foedom got to come into play nicely twice, once when she and the party found the tomb they were seeking was guarded by a frost giant warrior and she challenged him to single combat to cross. Ate a greataxe crit in the second round and was nearly dead, but with sheer grit, a bit of lenience on my part with using climb ranks in a cool way, and a well placed tree feather token, she defeated and befriended him.

Since it was trolls specifically she hated, the other time it came into play was when the party had to fight a roided-up barbarian supertroll empowered by philosopher's stone fragments and able to regen through acid and fire while raging. Nearly eviscerated the entire party, but they cut off one of its arms, blew its chest open, poisoned it, and finally our ranger decapitated it just in time for its rage to run out and her sword to seal its regen.
>>
>>52337112

One of the Magus rework anons here with some questions.

How much would it fuck things if spellstrike and spell combat were each gained a level later because of a poolstrike-like ability (SA-like progression of d6 on odd levels, pool point for full level d6) gained at first?

Would getting Arcana every even level be super wonk? Even if many of the old features magus had were now arcana?

On that note, what old features are worth keeping as arcana? Also extends to old archetypes that could/should be converted to arcana. Kensai and Eldritch archer are probably too much to convert easily.

Play by Post is through forums - you write out your character's action and reaction to a scene, and then wait for others to post and the DM to advance.

Y'all dense motherfuckers realize that even if /pfg/ gets banned, all the degenerates will just migrate to a new general and fuck it up.

Same thing happened with /wst/. Normie's and redditor newfags came in and shitposted it into oblivion and got it banned, then what resulted was all the pervert and degenerates started to flood the board for a while due to non longer having a constructive outlet and containment, the the very worst and memeist of them all settled here in /pfg/, where sadly they can't even use their boners to be constructive and make content, and instead just shut everything up with forced memes.

It happened before, you fags caused it, and it'll happen again.

Coincidentally, this has also coincided with the notable lack of quality and creativity in /tg/ as a whole as well

Nex is Osirian, meaning he's probably either Garund or most likely Kelesh. Unless you also count the Garundi as negroid, he probably isn't a Magical Negro.

Also, my money is that he is currently caught in a temporal shift, and was probably flung far into the future, or to the other end of the universe and as such is currently busy with stuff to do.

Guy, unless applying itself is a huge chore for you which might be legitimate, I don't know you, you should just apply to every game that you think you'd enjoy playing.

I mean what, he picks the names out of a hat, you got decent odds. He wants to build the party for compatibility, then even if you're in the overrated role of a primary melee, that still leaves you with decent chance. Hell, if you're making a man and /pfg/ is to be trusted, there're only 2, 3 other dudes at best that have a shot, that's 1 in 4!

Anything gains XP the same way. Cohorts get a big bonus though by instead getting a fraction of what their PC leader gains (compared to the average NPC that's a lot faster because of what PCs face and how often they face it).

NPCs even have their own Wealth by Level tables, both for "standard" and for "heroic"(aka adventurer or high-grade" NPCs.

So here's a question

If the Mwangi and their people's were the first to arise and rebuild civilization after Earthfall, and has consistently made all manner of high level wizards and powerful magocratic nations (like the Shory, who straight up had Virmana and stuff), how come they weren't the ones who expanded northward and eastward into the other continents and started colonizing everything like the Europeans did in our world?

Seems kinda silly that they could have this great lineage and historical influence, yet still be pretty much innefectual bunga-bungas on the whole in this current timeline and have almost no influence outside of Garund.

Because this smells suspicious to me, and seems like horrible oversight in world building and, I hate to say it, kinda racist.

Also, how is he still around even, and where the heck did he get into the picture?

I mean, the first he ever shows up as far as we know was when he stole the World Breaker from the Taldor Exploration Fleet, such was significantly a land time after Jatembe first poked his head out. I mean, I would've expected him o have rebuilt much of civilization and infrastructure during his time on Golarion, to the point shit-grod shouldn't have even been able to get a huge Oona foothold as he did in Mwangi. Also, the Short seemed robust just fine in nor being bothered by that glorified apeman

>>52338241
When and how did they get there and how come the Magaambya or even Jatembe himself never fixed it?

You know what some of my favorite moments are as a GM?

You find your players getting really cocky, trying to solve everything by kicking the door down and what not. Then you give them an enemy that is much stronger than them. You demonstrate he is strong. You give them the opportunity to back down. Then you wait, because you know they aren't gonna back down. Then the fight starts and they get their teeth kicked in.

God damn that is satisfying watching players realize they're outmatched.

From what I can see, the first one is a house-husband in disguise but quite possibly half a midlife-crisis away from 'coming out'.

The second one wants true love, but he may need his other half to be a fiery rival to find it.

The third sounds like you're marrying the village handyman, and you'll probably be loved and content, but it will never be a grand life or sweep you off your feet.

The fourth sounds more like he needs some kind of caring older-lady to help him get back on his feet. If this were a manga he'd be a shoe-in for who-falls-for-the-widowed-landlady.
>>
I don't understand this app process, can someone explain?
>>
>>52339015
>This episode of genreblind GM thinking they're smart again

Here's the thing, every time.
Unless you really explicitly say that backing down is an option, or the campaign has already set precedent of it, players will not believe that you as a GM genuinely want them to back down.
You know why? Because heroic media is completely filled with stories of heroes defying the odds, going against warnings that would make a common man flee, and pulling out unlikely victories.

They will take your narrative warnings as just building up tension.

This isn't even a case of "ha ha stupid players thinking they're in a hero fantasy": they're playing DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS. You need to outright make it clear they're not in the default story tone they expect.

Again, there's nothing wrong with enemies being too tough. It's your failure to communicate that properly as a GM and blaming it on player stupidity.

>>52339015
One day they not only skipped the dungeon I'd created because that was probably just a bear cave, but proceeded to completely mangle all three hooks I'd subsequently given them for another adventure, taking it somehow as an indication that adventure lay across the sea.

They ended up in one of those giant desert countries (map isn't open, can't remember names) hunting down ancient undead in order to protect the dwindling unicorns in an oasis (I don't know where they got that idea, I never said anything about unicorns, I don't even know how it got to that, I worry they might have mistaken dromedaries for the things somehow.).

I'll give you a second better example:
Backing down, or worse yet surrendering, tends to mean the party loses everything (and forget "getting back" to WBL down the road), and gets to sit in on a fucking torture session.

Hell with some really bad GMs they'll even have gotten executed the one time.

Then we include the fact that in pathfinder, like most of the d20 system, if it's too powerful for you to fight, it almost automatically ALSO is too perceptive for you to hide from and too mobile to run away from. Running away becomes literally wasted turns where they get massacred like some poor kid holding L+R in the middle of a boss-fight and not noticing how it keeps going "CAN'T RUN AWAY!!!", while if they stand and fight, they have a chance at natural 20s or some kind of lucky upset.

It's kind of like how everybody gets ONE "the coat-check stole your guns" and afterwards everytime the shadowrunners are asked to disarm to enter a club or meeting their answer is a hail of rockets.

>>
>>52339096
I've seen the players backing down that way immediately result in a disgruntled GM having them end their days in a dungeon because they're cowards who didn't even know they were supposed to be the heroes.

What many GMs believe are hints and clues are often *only* hints and clues for someone who quite literally has the entire story in front of them. Stuff like "you should've noticed since that insignia is the same one you find all over their base" being spoken, when the party has never even seen or heard of the base, for example.
>>

>everything except the Orcs

Not quite.

Humans, Vrykul, Dwarves, Gnomes, Tol'vir, Anubisath, and Mogu all come from Titan-Forged.

Trolls are native to the planet, and the Zandalari were the first Trolls. Lower castes split into the Forest, Sand, Jungle, Dark, and Ice Trolls. Night Elves are Dark Trolls altered by living near the Well of Eternity, Highborne are noble Night Elves, High Elves are diurnal shrunken Highborne, Blood Elves are /slightly/ Fel-touched High Elves, Satyrs are demonic Highborne, Naga are Old God-warped Highborne, and Nightborne are Nightwell-edited Highborne.

Tauren, Pandaren, Furbolg, and the other talking animals descend from Wild Gods of the Emerald Dream, and may have a couple generations in between the modern form and the original Wild God. For instance, it goes Bull/Ox/Cow Wild God (probably Niuzao) -> Yaungol -> Tauren -> Highmountain Tauren & Taunka.

Orcs and Draenei are both aliens. Orcs come from Draenor and descend through multiple generations of things starting with the Colossals and ending up with the Ogres at one point. Draenei are just non-demonic Eredar who went into exile from Argus when the Legion took over and all the other Eredar went full Fel.

Forsaken are undead humans, Worgen are druidically-cursed humans, and Goblins are a native race altered by the brain-boosting mineral/metal/whatever called Kajamite.

The influence of an erinyes might make them irritable, legalistic, vengeful, spiteful, hidebound, or fiercely loyal. Any or all of those, really.

But really, the more interesting thing is how they take one or a few of those traits/urges and work around it. Like the descendant of a demon channeling destructive urges into art or an oni-spawn trying to control their appetites.

I've been holding back on the greentext because the games have diverged and I know some of them in both parties read this.

A quick rundown of what happened without spoilers...

>Party got in a bad fight with the "law enforcement" last session and surrendered
>Gunslinger and Arminger decided to throw their weapons on the roof
>Law enforcement took that poorly and hit them all in the joints
>Party gets hit with str/dex damage. Gunslinger and Arminger taking the worst of it.
>Party wakes up in pain and tries to get home
>run into opportunist thugs with a hired Tengu.
>DHB throws web to stop most of them, but Tengu gets through
>Arminger goes down. He started with 1/3 HP.
>Party ended up killing 2 enemies and running from the fight.

Then some other stuff happened. The party is certainly building up notoriety.

>>
>>52339926
Well despite the forum complaints Erastil isn't an evil god. Even if he frowns on a practice, if it's not HARMING anyone...

However there's no way he'd LIKE gay marriage. It can avoid a direct clash with his portfolio if they at least make up for it, but the childless fashionista type gays that move into the city (the less common type as far as I'm aware) aren't going to be getting powers from him anytime soon. And that's only natural: it's what he's a god of.

Take a goddess of childbirth as another example: A gay or lesbian who won't even at least take a token wife and pump out some heirs to ensure the continuation of his bloodline because familial and species duties "trigger them" is not going to reach paladinhood. One can be running counter to a deity's portfolio even without it being pharasma vs the undead.
>>
>>52340034
but he's not going to have his followers burn all the gays alive or anything
>>
>>52340053
No because he was never evil. Nor is not approving "evil" no matter what some tumbltards might scream about privileges.

Y'know though, about Erastil, I always thought it was more about family than anything else, y'know? So it's not that gay couples are bad, it's just that they should adopt and take care of a child in need, that kinda stuff.

Oh sure he'd probably prefer you'd marry, but if a bunch of dykes raise a child that would be an orphan or dead otherwise, why does he care?

Quoting Myself from the 1st of March

Sure uh... Nettle the doctor.

>Greentext about Daichi and the Gold Dragons was him
>Likes people alive, and has deep respect for when they die. He's buried like 2 thugs so far.
>Parental figure to children. Takes care of their health and is stern vs poor behavior
>Meticulous doctor as shown by the extent he went to clean up the mess.
>Similar to points above, found some children who talked to the dead family (They would feed kids who told them good stories), and made sure they didn't have eye problems like the bleeding eyes of the murder victims.
>Gave some food to a PC who roleplayed that he forgot breakfast.
>Also gave some to the rook from the same ration.

There really isn't any info on Daikitsu. None of the Tian gods get any more information than you'd find on Pathfinderwiki. I'd suggest just approximate from the nearest real-world equivalent, maybe one of those 7 Gods of Luck.

As for the other thing, you're probably good. Unlike real asians, they probably won't be any more xenophobic than most places in Golarion considering the kind of weird shit everybody's got to deal with on a daily basis.
