Just making sure you can see this:

Personally, increase the Hit Die to 23d8, lower the AC to 13, drop his CON to 15, give him resistances instead of immunities, and boost the damage output. Give Unarmed Strike 8 bludgeoning / 11 cold, Ice Knife 10 piercing / 9 cold, and water whip 8 bludgeoning / 11 cold.

Anyone got insight about Fantasy Grounds ? The price seems steep, but there's a lot of shillers. Wondering if it's deserved.

Could you build a PC entirely around the Fabricate spell (And other similar themed abilities) and actually be good?

What's the best way to go about this?

UA Artificer Wizard?
Transmutation Wizard?
I'd say UA Artificer but they don't get Fabricate until fucking 18.
Forge Cleric?
Forge Theurgist?
>implying any DM would ever let you take Theurgy

Had an idea for Monk using multiclass, go Shadow Monk to level 6 then do a 4-6 in Rouge Assassin (more likely 6), then either 2 in fighter for AS and the rest Monk or nothing in fighter.

Any good or should I just fuck off?

>>52178067

Okay guys rate my character idea.

Kobold Psionic
Uses his magic to make him feel equal to people,
mystic quirk is that he thinks his tail will disappear every time he uses a psionic discipline
>>
Soul knife is the damage dealer option from Mystic
Avatar is the buffer/debuffer option from Mystic
Awakened and WuJen are the BF control options from Mystic
Nomad is the stealth/mobility option from Mystic
The fuck is Immortal? back then it was the combat option but now sould knife does that way better
>>
>>52178198
>only disable is Sleep
if you're a warlock yes essentially, but why the fuck aren't you using that spell slot to hex+eldritch blast for 1d10+1d6+CHA damage? if you're a wizard no. tasha's hideous laughter is fairly strong, ray of sickness is ok damage with a debuff, grease knocks enemies in a 10ft area prone, color spray blinds enemies, and for god know what reason if you're in melee as a wizard, earth tremor also knocks enemies prone.

and if you needed dpr maybe you shouldn't have picked wizard? warlock already has better scaling and strong options for dpr and wizard is better of trying to debuff and control the battlefield than doing 1d12 damage a round. at level 1-3 i guess that's acceptable but beyond that the spell becomes painfully obsolete. if you're wanting to blast as a wizard, ice knife gives you AOE and magic missile doesn't require an attack roll in the first place and has more consistent and better scaling damage.

you can argue the merits of witch bolt all you want, but when spell slots are limited and spells known are limited (unless you're wizard) you're going to want some level of efficiency for your spell slots. with witch bolt you'll kill, what one enemy per casting? and they can break the witch bolt easy by just moving out of range or going into their cover. congrats, you just used a spell slot for a range 30 lightning damage poison spray!

Wizard would give you access to Fabricate at 7th level, unlike a cleric who would get it at 13th. If you play straight Transmutation you can use the Philosopher's Stone benefits, while a theurgist would allow you to have a decent AC thanks to heavy armor, plus
FIRE
IMMUNITY
is pretty sexy. It depends really on what the rest of your party is like. If they need martials, go theurgy, if they need support, go transmutation.
>>
>>52178397
Durable front-line tank. It has far more defensive options that Soul Knife, which is important - unless your theorycrafting doesn't account for creatures ever doing damage to you.
>>
>>52178427
Human Immortal Mystic.
>>
>>52178445
>Durable
It has monk's AC, you be able to compare to Soul Knife you need Dex/Con to be 16/18 which isn't that easy to achieve, he also needs Int for DCs and THP. Dunno if +1 to HPs will be enough.

Imo it feels like it doesn't have a defined role.

Also

You can't attrack aggro, and taking into account you aren't going to deal much damage (compared to other options) you aren't worth focusing

Is it possible that the Dark Elf men survive only off of pussy?

We know that they don't have much food, and that they're a horrific, brutal matriarchy where the men are barely above slaves.

Is it possible that there are parts of the Underdark where Dark Elf men, in times of famine, can only survive by eating pussy instead of a meal?

Psionics don't fit in swords and magic fantasy. At least not in the hands of the heroes. They're meant to be strange and alien powers from another realm, if they exist at all. You're never going to read a Tolkien book or Game of Thrones book where the heroes are running around with psychic animu powers.

Magic in those sorts of settings, for the heroes, is typically much more subdued and usually more divine in nature, as opposed to D&D with people learning to blow shit up by being a nerd.
>>
>>52179393
Well, I mean I've seen people literally argue that laser rifles and plasma weapons are part of standard fantasy in one of these psionic arguments before, so I guess you're right. People on /tg/ have absolutely no idea what genres are :^)

D&D isn't meant to imitate any of those things. It's its own beast, full to the brim with the supernatural in all of its forms. D&D settings are kitchen sink settings and psychic shit is a part of fantasy, like it or not. It's not a part of Tolkein or ASOIAF fantasy but it's still fantasy.

They're a mixed bag. Dragonlance is corny as hell but charming in how much it takes itself seriously. Drizzt novels are very hit-or-miss. Elminster novels are often impenetrable because they are written by Ed Greenwood for Ed Greenwood and just assume you know everything he's ever written. Brimstone Angels I've never read or heard about, but maybe that silence speaks volumes.

They're talking about the Inner (either 6 of them or 18 depending on whether you like quasi- and para-planes; elemental themed) and Outer Planes (either 9 or 17 depending on whether you like the transition planes; alignment-themed) + Feywild, Shadowfucker, and Astral.

Lowering point buy value just makes people more inclined towards 15/15/15/8/8/8-like stats. Because at least normally you can sacrifice one of those stats to turn a couple of those 8s into a 10 or even a 11 or 12.

If anything, you should slightly increase the stats.

The feat is probably just gonna increase whoever's main stat it is anyway (So a dwarf cleric would be effectively +2 wis +2 con, which just means they're gonna have 2 17s at level 1 and put +1 on both of them at level 4) and ... Well, it isn't a bad idea, but there's only so many +1 feats and some are much better than others.

Mystic is honestly what martial classes should have been. Tons of interesting out of combat options added on. You'd just need to refluff it out of psychic damage, and you'd have a better fighter class.
>>
>>52179882
That's a good way to design the shoulders for one, and I suppose I probably took a bit of it's design from that subconsciously as well as Dwemer machines.

The other main thing I based it off was the Fabricator from Nine, with bigger Modrons looking more like it does.

I need some help figuring out the encounters for my first custom made adventure in roughly 15 years.

The PC's are met by a gnome named Porten Tucker Swigsprocket, whom says his drinking device was stolen. He calls it P.orten's (or P.ortable) I.ntoxication S.ervicing S.ystem, or PISS for short. So he asks you to bring back his piss that was stolen by kobolds, he tracked them to a depleted mine, it's not their mine but they are there temporarily to get ready for the trip back to their warren.

Eventually they get to the mine after some social encounters, it's night-time and they just reached the entrance...

Now I'm stuck, I have some vague ideas but nothing concrete? The characters will be around level 3 average, and I am DM'ing this saturday.

Them find a group of people positing to be miners who were caught unaware by the kobolds, tied up in some off-shoot room. They will agree to help you extricate the kobolds from their mine, but it turns out about 3/4 through the mine that they are actually a group of thieves that were also using the mine as a hiding place for their loot. However, after a few kobold encounters, their numbers will be depleted and they could easily be defeated and/or captured and interrogated about the treasure's location. Make sure to include a lot of gags about what's yours and mine.
At the end they can fight some big fat kobold leader who thinks the PISS is some sort of holy grail, and he will be taking the piss to his kobold leader or whatever.

Or have the gnome be in cahoots with the thieves and have everyone kick the shit out of the gnome because gnomes deserve to be fucked up

So is Mantle of Command just Warlord?
>>
>>52180593
It's extremely versatile without having to worry about spell preparation.

In terms of damage, it's got repeatable nova capable of 120~ damage but it requires a successful discipline attack roll and a failed Strength save by the enemy.

For me, the primary issue with Mystic is the versatility. Most of the archetypes have 10 disciplines by 20th level, at which point they're able to do almost anything any class can do. They can be a social butterfly, stealth master, damage dealer, team healer, damage sponge, skill monkey, extremely hard to hit and extremely mobile at the same time.

If it helps, the three-times-a-long-rest 120~ damage nova can be accomplished by 10th level.

my big twist idea was that the gnome was actually a kobold illusioned as a gnome, the PISS was created by the kobolds, and they elected him to go out and pose as a gnome tinkerer so they could sell it in civilized lands. After a few weeks of living a good life he figured "this is great, fuck life back in the mine", and wanted the gold of selling the PISS for himself. They picked a gnome because tinkerer and nobody would suspect kobolds disguised as their most hated enemy. He faked his own death and went out of town to sell the PISS himself, the kobolds found out eventually and stole it back along with a wagon and horses to transport it.

I like your ideas too, though

1st level Mystics also only have 4 psi points, making them effectively useless.

In fact, the rate of growth for psi points is all sorts of fucked up. From 7th level to 8th level, you get 6 psi points. From 8th level to 9th level, you get 13 psi points. Then growth is just fucking crippled after that point.

It just feels really out of wack.

The stonework here is rougher. The north passage goes straight as far as you can see.” As the party mapper, I would sometimes just say “North” or “East”. I've always seem them as roughly like evil dwarfs that tend to serve dragons.

Sure, they might come up with something new, but they generally focus on following through with orders / doing what they're used to or what the tradition is / etc. But probably not as much as dwarfs, somewhere between gnomes and dwarfs.

It feels like they're only being given more personality and these sorts of gists alongside the idea of kobolds being a playable/lovable race.
>>
Is the melee weapon attack used by beastial claws strength based, or can it be strength or dex?
>>
>>52181136
Yeah but other casters only have two spell slots as well.
I would argue the only person that beats them in versatility at that level is perhaps a wizard because they can have all those decently useful rituals ready to go no problem. And they have a good amount of cantrips.

I suppose I do agree that the growth rate seems kind of odd.

I'm still gonna try to roll one if I can. Just want to see how I like em. Things are rarely the same in theorycrafting as they are at the table anyway.

>>

Think of it this way.

Each discipline covers an area of expertise that is roughly equivalent to an archetype for any other class.

At 1st level, unless you're Soul Knife, you've got three disciplines. That's the versatility of three archetypes.
At 5th level, you've got five disciplines, or you're as versatile as a character with five archetypes.
At 10th level, that's seven disciplines.

For any non-Mystic, if you want to exploit the versatility of multiple archetypes, you need to multiclass. The Mystic doesn't need to multiclass. It gets this level of versatility just from being a Mystic.

A Mystic with Adaptive Body, Celerity, Mastery of Fire, Nomadic Chameleon and Precognition effectively covers the same roles as an Abjurer, Open Hand Monk, Pyromancer, Thief and Diviner all in one package. It can dip into those roles whenever it likes and it's almost as good at them as the archetypes themselves.

You can't deny the ridiculous versatility of that.

Goring Rush.

You are considered proficient in unarmed strikes utilizing your horns. When you use your action to Dash, you can use a bonus action to make one unarmed strike using your horns. You're forgetting Psionic Mastery at level 11.

It's an action that gives them a second pool of psi points. These special psi can't be used alongside normal psi. It starts as a pool of 9, then grows to 11 at level 15. You wind up with four uses of this by level 17, so that's another 44 psi.

They did this to cap the nova potential of high-level psions. You have to spend an action to get these points, the pool is relatively small and thus limits stacking a shitload of action+bonus powers together to do a huge hit, and you can't supplement it with your normal psi at the same time.

Just change it to a single 1d8 plus your str bonus action attack you make with your horns when you move 20 ft in a straight line towards an enemy.
Alternatively, you could make it remain a bit more relevant perhaps by changing it to dealing 1d4 + str, and requiring the target to make a str save or be knocked prone.
DC = 8 + prof + str mod
>>
>>52181433
Are you implying wizards, sorcerers, warlocks, druids, or paladins exist in reality
>>
>>52181432
It doesn't limit the nova, it limits the DPR.

Mystic has the Lethal Strike + Animate Weapon + Knock Back combo which uses all of the actions in a round. More psi points wouldn't make that more powerful, that's the absolute height of the Mystic's offensive capability. What the small amount of psi points limits is just how frequently the Mystic can expend their psi points.

The Mystic's potential is capped at 10th level. In fact, I'd argue that there's almost no point to stick with the class after that except for additional versatility. You're better off multiclassing into something else.
>>

I was trying to think of a way to balance it at lower levels but haven't had much luck.

1d4 at 1st level + 1d4 every level after might be better.
2.5 damage at level 1 would scale to 25 at level 10, and 50 at level 20. Just not sure if being able to innately deal that much damage is OP.

>>52181484
I like the latter idea because scaling keeps it relevant. I'll play around with it.
>>
>>52181340
You're ignoring the class and its archetypes themselves doing basically nothing, meaning all specialization and flavor comes from your chosen disciplines. You also need to step back and look at the psi limit and note how disciplines effectively give you 1-2 powers until you're "mid" level (5). You're front-loaded with disciplines, but not powers.

Yes, the class is versatile, but it can't do all things at once. You cannot perform the Abjurer, Open Hand Monk, Pyromancer, Thief, and Diviner role for more than a round or two each in an adventuring day, and that's even with the admittedly low bar of saying "performing the Pyromancer role" means "casts a Fire damage spell".

You fuckers need to play a Mystic and see how this actually works outside of your theorycrafting vacuum. You're as bad as Wizardfaggots who think you can spam Fireball to end every encounter at level 7 for two whole sessions.

A player of mine wants to multiclass his paladin to warlock. He has strong story related justifications so it would make sense but I'm a bit worried how strong he would end up being. Higher level spells slots for smites that come back with short rest and all that.
He's level 7 right now and said if he's gonna do it he'll wait until level 10 so he gets the next tier of paladin spell slots.
Though reading more thoroughly now I realize he wouldn't get to keep those slots anyway because of the way spell slots are calculated for multiclassing, so he would probably take the first warlock level at 9.
How is palalock? Strong? Too strong even? Or is there something we're missing and it all falls apart and he would be just gimping himself.
