I built one on commission. I hope you have a drill press, bandsaw, and about 5 tubes of 2-part epoxy, you will need all of them.

some of the casting gates exceed 1" diameter, and you'll also need to cut many of the blocks off the plates with a saw to avoid cracking the edge detail of the plates.

other useful things to know: building the main body in the order specified will cause you nothing but suffering. dry fit all the parts, glue the back upper split panel into one peice, then get a friend to come help you for the extra hands and build the whole thing at once, using electrical tape to apply even pressure along all the seams.

Legs do not actually need pinning if you build them up correctly and use strong epoxy, and the shoulder weapons do not ned magnets as they have a design which locks them in place when sideways pressure is applied.

dry fit everything 3 times, then do it again just to be sure.

getting a set of 16" or larger squeeze clamps (larger than the ones in pic) will save your sanity when setting the volcano cannon, sunfury, and lasblaster barrels

if you intend to do drilling for magnets, get a brad-point bit as it cuts outside-in, and will not put pressure on the surrounding resin, for diameters larger then 1/4" (say you plan to put a big fuckoff magnet in the torso joint) get yourself some ryobi x-wing forster bits as they do the same thing as the brad points but leave a flat bottom to the cut.

actually the warping on the warlord I built for the guy was very minimal, I think only 3 parts total. they're using machine-cut molds for most of the newer large kits and it shows in the cast quality.

the arms are incredibly difficult to magnetize as the joint there has very little thickness to work with, but what you can do is use a removable pin for arm swapping.in this case I used brass tube to create a retaining wall and spread the load on the resin, and turned down a stainless steel pin on a lathe to fit.

>>
>>51924133

No that just sounds like you have to treat it like a second job essentially. Which is cool for commissionfag, because hes doing it for a second job.
>>
>>51924133
it's not something you'll get done in a short time. the build I did took ~58 hours not including curing time, and it was build-only, no paint and leaving the plates off. the bag of casting gates probably weighs close to 12 lbs or more. I kept them all for use as terrain later (dragon's teeth or jersey walls)

mostly I do building and conversion commissions, and work with a friend if I'm doing full commissions (he's got skills with an airbrush, I don't)

my unqualified opinion as a mediocre painter is to use Testor's Dulcote, but if you want good advice that is better explained than any of mine check out Tabletop Minions, he has a pretty good video on varnish treatments and how dulcote affects paintjobs.

Current personal project is making a zone mortalis board out of MDF and 3D-printed parts.

make sure you pose the legs in such a way to take the load, and also be mindful that you'll need to spread them a bit so that the ring pistons will still fit.

if you do plan to put in a big magnet (I used a 1" diameter 1/2" thick N52 magnet) you can actually use a piece of steel bar to hold the hips in place at the right level, glue the legs in the desired bend (the top sections will 'lock' against the gear sections) and then glue the feet and hips at the same time. don't pull it out of the jig until all the support sections are on, but after that point it will be solid enough to support weight without being attached to a base. I'd still put it on a base though because the toes have some fragile front detail.

JB clearweld and loctite 1-minute set. JB where I needed more structural strength and loctite where I wanted precision, the loctite was using the mixer tip it comes with, JB was hand-mixed.

for superglue I can't recommend loctite ultra-liquid enough, incredibly good contact bonds but a little bit of a set time for adjustments.

Ah ok! I was planning on running a pair of steel rods through the hips parallel to each other and through both tops of the legs to keep it steady and disperse the weight from the body.

I was thinking of running a giant rod with housing through the gun joints, and giant N52 Magnets on the shoulder mounted weaponry as well as head.

Is it possible to run a fat magnet at the torso/pelvis spot to separate for travel? Or is a huge dual rod setup better?

>>
>>51924641
the shoulder weapons don't really need it, see above. the parts where the shoulder mountings are can be drilled but you'll risk cracking the part when using a magnet large enough to actually keep a hold on the weapons.

the waist you can do that, use a forstner bit on the hip peg using a drill press (I used some white polystyrene to hold the hips in position for the press) then glue the corresponding magnet to the top side of the torso bottom plate, since it will be hidden inside the torso anyway and it isn't as thick as you'd expect.

the rod through the hips isn't needed as long as the angle isn't extreme, the pic a few posts up shows the type of arrangment I used and that has no pins whatsoever. gun joins I also showed a pic of using a stainless steel rod through some brass tube, doesn't even have to be that thick (the guns are surprisingly well balanced, I only had to use 0.25oz of fishing shot in the back of the sunfury to balance it)

With 8th ed coming, there is a shitty rumour each day. This is one of them.
Also: As Cypher is a title, any dude could replace him anytime. And actually it could be multiple dudes, like a loyal one with special orders or a rogue one doing the right thing and a fallen one.
Unless Geedubs releases a book where they reveal more information, no flying fucks should be given.

The webway – a bizarre alien landscape created by the eldar in ages long past; a network of otherworldly tunnels that burrow through time and space. When the wards protecting the webway are accidentally breached by the primarch Magnus, hordes of daemons are able to exploit this weakness to attack the heart of Terra directly. While the Emperor himself tries to hold the wards in place, a desperate battle takes place in the webway itself – a battle that requires very special combatants – among them the Psi-Titan Borealis Thoon.

Random facts from the page I'm on:
The Librarius structure is based on a pre-existing organisation in the Blood Angels legion.
As well as Magnus, Sanguinius and the Khan, proponents of the Librarius were Fulgrim, Alpharius and Curze.
Mortarion and Russ hated psykers and constantly bitched about them. Corax joined in their side of the debate.

So The Outcast Dead and the Severian audio now officially make no fucking sense in the timeline whatsoever, because Inferno tells you exactly when the message was recieved, how long it took for everyone to react to it, and that Atharva was brought before Valdor and Malcador for questioning about Prospero's defences.
So, as far as I can tell, the timeline of Outcast Dead and Lone Wolf now just cannot fit in at all.

Did Dorn actually dislike psykers or was it just 'daddy says no' like before?
>>
>>51927796
It's pretty much impossible to fluff a librarian in an IF army, isn't it? Unless one wants to say he (and whoever else is in on the secret) is playing fast and loose with the rules, or they just innately use subtle powers like divination without realising they're doing it. Maybe they developed the powers after Nikea but don't know how to shut them off.
And then there's the good old catch-all excuse of "it was so far out into the edge of the galaxy that they never knew what was going on".

>>51928037
I've not read the fluff but if it was before the decision was made by the Emperor, Dorn was against it for his own reasons (which were probably "dad says mutant powers from the netherworld are bad, let's not use them".

Although it might be smart for legions who are more skilled in material warfare to stunt the training of those legions whose gene-seed/recruiting practices make for more and more powerful psykers. But Dorn isn't really that kind of guy.
>>
To recap things wot Inferno fluff tells us that I have read so far:
>The Librarius was mostly the work of the Blood Angels, not the Thousand Sons; the TS bandwagoned it because it meant they could hide in plain sight.
>The flesh-change began at the conquest of Bezant, which was a TS vs enemy psyker army mirror fight. One TS went spawn and got put down, the pre-Magnus TS commanders all agreed not to tell anyone of it in case they got disbanded.
>The only thing Dorn and Pertuarbo could bring themselves to agree with each other on was that psykers were shit.
>85% of The Outcast Dead and Lone Wolf just got retconned
>Horus' message to Russ was carried by a SoH commander, who brought with him his company and some Legion Mortis engines.
>Valdor was not happy with Russ for wanting to kill not capture, and argued with him about it the entire time they were supplying. Valdor didn't get anywhere because Russ outranked him.
>Valdor had brought remembrancers with him, Russ sent them away
>Magnus really did keep everyone in the dark, the people of Prospero were completely taken by surprise
>Russ finally agreed to issue a demand for surrender before he pushed the button marked launch de missiles, he waited for an hour but got no response. Valdor again tried to get him to change his mind about killing Magnus, Russ didn't go for it.

I can only imagine there's stuff later about how the TS were having mind orgies with daemons on something, because this fluff is making the SW look like total fannies.
>>
>>51928080
Lots of interesting stuff in there, I don't think anyone will be crying too hard at the Outcast Dead retcons. Also it's surprising that Russ outranks Valdor.

I'm looking forward to getting my copy, scananon be praised.
>>
>>51928080
Valdor's a bro
>>
>>51928080
>Valdor didn't get anywhere because Russ outranked him.
Now I'm triggered. There is one person in the entire galaxy that outranks Valdor, and that's the Emperor.

And, really, Valdor knows the stakes involved so really shouldn't accept Magnus's death at any cost. With the webway damaged the ONLY chance for repairing the Emperor's grand project was to bring Magnus back alive. Why is Valdor like "well, this Russ bloke's being uppity, I'll just give up on the one chance to save humanity forever"?
>>
>>51928160
Russ outranking Valdor in this operation appears to be a RAW in this RoW ifyouknowwhadimean.

The writ of Censure (reproduced in the book) names Russ as the one charged with carrying out the Emperor's orders in the matter of the Magnus, and gives him a total free hand.
(It does however, say Magnus is to be returned to stand before the Throne and answer for his actions.)
The body of the text says that it was considered at large that only a Primarch could stand in authority over another Primarch, but Malcador put Valdor in charge of the Terran contingent because he thought Val had enough perceived respect and authority to maybe challenge that notion.
Russ was having none of it.
>>
>>51928228
What about the Custodes who policed Lorgar? They were lower-ranked than Valdor even.
>>
>>51928281
I don't know dog, I'm just reading what it says here. Maybe they got another piece of paper that said they could stand in judgement of Lorgar?

The point of Valdor/Russ rank normally is moot here because the Emperor's order specifically says Russ is in charge, and Valdor seems to just end up going because Malcador makes him.
>>
>>51928281
lorgar's a dummy who can be bullied by anyone

Highlighting mk II is a fucking nightmare, those fucking legs man
>>
>>51928444
I don't highlight mkII :^)
>>
>>51928398
In just this one instance so far, yes. The narrator says civilians were blocking access to the gate of the main Spireguard fortress wanting to be let in and the soldiers didn't know what to do and were panicking.
Then he says Russ arrived and attacked the gate personally.
Then he reproduces the SW saga version that describes Russ opening the gates, surveying the carnage and judging it good.
Then it cuts back to the narrator describing the Spireguard freaking out and opening fire and the surviving civilians being cut down.

So, it goes to careful lengths to not specifically say that Russ just rushed a gate under cover of the soldiers not wanting to fire on their own people, crushed or battered to death a load of civvies and ripped the gate open - but that's clearly what he did.
Because the Imperial narrator doesn't want to say that, he uses the SW version, which makes it sound like some mythic event.

Right, so, let's say I want to get into HH as I got two boxes of BaC and one box of BoP for 15€ each as a local toystore was closing down.
Where do I go from here, especially in regards to picking a legion?

You could probably just sell the custodes and sisters or swap them for more marines.

>>51928641
That's a shit reason for not playing custodes or sisters. just because there are no recorded instances of it doesn't mean it didn't happen. You sound like that guy who didn't want to play against White Scars because there wasn't a BL story about it.
>>
>>51928641
>>51928619

Lucky bastard.
Though I always hate to see brick-and-mortar shops close down, toy shops and other "fun"/labour-of-love shops especially.

The thing about "pick a legion" is to go for what you like. Both are fine from the sets.

>>51928641
I'm pretty sure there would have been some occasion or another where SoS teamed up with every legion. They weren't super special super saiyans from Terra like the Custodes, they would have been all over the galaxy in the black ships.

Custodes *may* have fought with the Ultramarines, maybe not what we know so far, or in the big/early campaigns covered by the books, but if anon wanted to "his dudes" his army, he could make use of them if he wanted.

But Custodes will sell well if he wants something like rapiers for his Ultramarines.
>>
Moar Inferno bits I thought were interesting.

>Spireguard suck, though have an elite unit called Spireguard Templars who have power axes
>SW are *not* murdering indiscriminately (as long as you don't consider the original intent being to glass the planet I suppose), they let unarmed civvies run off
>A random Imperial Army regt. puts up the best resistance to the SW before the TS arrive
>The Order of the blind wear crimson and lapis blue. That shade of blue is the future TS blue.
>Tizca has some kind of mini-Webway or something similar
>Russ' original plan is terrible and fails immediately when the TS actually fight back. Valdor defies Russ' orders and comes up with his own plan, which turns the tide back against the TS.
>Custodes have their own fighter plane called an Equinox.
>Valdor still continues asking people to surrender even in the midst of the battle.
>The TS sacrifice thralls and mind-rape prisoners to gain an intelligence advantage, they also 'mind-slave' some militia to fight on
>Russ eventually authorises the use of Destroyer weapons and orders no stone, woman, or child is to be spared
>The Sons of Horus contingent spends the battle wandering the streets kidnapping powerful civilian psykers, murdering ones who aren't of use.
>Legio Mortis get their shit pushed in by the Zhao-Akkad
>The Jarl of Eleven is the only Terran commander left in the SW, Eleven has a lot of Terrans in it.
>One of the TS force sword cult guys actually manages to wound Valdor

Wait wait wait. You realize that the entirety of The Outcast Dead happens nearly two years after Prospero is destroyed, right? I don't have Inferno, but the reaction from Magnus's message by the Emperor and the order to have Russ bring him in is LONG before the reaction of his message by the rest of Terra.
>>
>>51929375
Currently don't have any since my army is a long-term project and I kind of buy and build what strikes me as cool at the moment so I've mostly been painting 40k Mechanicus recently.

Eventually I'll have six or seven. An Archmagos Archimandrite, Anacharis Scoria, a Magos Reductor, two Magos Dominus and a Secutarii Axiarch, plus maybe an extra model for Inar Satarael if I decide he needs a separate one from the Archimadrite, with the three big guys with a Biologis theme. Probably going to use the 40k Dominus for the lesser Domini because I have a couple spare from Start Collecting boxes, and just equip them differently and do a little conversion.
I write some fluff for them, but not very much, usually just a brief description and add in anything cool they do in a game.

Hell yes, love to see the robot boys doing work. Especially if they look fabulous while doing it.

>>
>>51929655
Yeah, I might be very wrong, I need more people to read it.
But my thoughts were as follows. In Inferno:
>Magnus' warning. Hundreds of thousands killed.
>Censure Host planned.
>Mal and Val summon Atharva from the Crusader Host and get info on Prospero's defences out of him, then absolve him of any connection to his Legions' crimes past or future and return him to the Crusader Host.

Now they could rescind the order exempting him easily when the Heresy breaks out I guess. My concern is that he acts in Outcast Dead like he has no clue about Prospero and Magnus' warning, in fact none of the Crusader Host are aware that Legio XV got burned, the Astropaths don't know, etc.
Apparently the Censure Host wasn't a secret considering Valdor took a load of remembrancers with him.
I took it to mean the general events happened, but the detail (dialogue, some motivations) no longer made sense.

That book doesn't make sense in itself, the characters talk about Valdor leaving to go to Prospero like it's happening concurrently with the story. The timeline fix in Wolf Hunt was itself a retcon to sort out Outcast Dead's chronology problems.
I don't know why they want to add more to that. I guess some people just keep trying to fix things best left alone?

Well since it seems like Russ could outrank the Emperor's favorite not-an-actual-project Valdor, the one above all others in the imperium minus the Emperor himself, how do you think the Custodes felt when the Emperor's son Hor... I and other will probably agree that part of it stems from the misecordia (forgeworld's undescribed item thing) as to why the custodes are supposed to be high up, but yeah, technically it gives them authority and not rank, but it seems as if the emperor's word carries rank with it though

>>
>>51930614
But what's the point of Valdor being there at all, if not to keep Russ within the parameters of the mission set by the Emprah?
>>
>>51930674
There's going against an order and there's going against an order when your CO is about to die.
>>
>>51930736
The original reason was to act as defense for the Sisters of Silence, who were needed to ensure the safe return of Magnus, even assuming Magnus complied.
>>
>>51930634
In the Imperial Palace.
>>51930674
Well, the first three are on the money, but Valdor does put out demands to surrender when he effectively takes over strategic command.
He only switches to 'kill em all' towards the end, when the TS have apparently conjured a warp storm around him and there's chaos spawn glomping around.
>>
>>51930750
Decent idea.

Is there anything in there about how effective the Null/Blank powers of the SoS were against the Thousand Sons and Magnus in particular?
Would Magnus be totally neutered by the sisters? Was there really a contingency to drag him back to Terra in an iron cage and somehow force him to work on the Webway? Sounds pretty risky putting a potentially? chaos-corrupted psyker in charge of the golden throne.
>>
>>51930781
why did magnus refused to surrender ? before inferno said so he never got an actual chance to do so, and now Valdor keep sending demands ?
>>
>>51930820
>Sounds pretty risky putting a potentially chaos-corrupted psyker in charge of the golden throne.
I'm guessing Emps planned to give Magnus a full examination, and execute him if he was corrupted.
>>
>>51930836
He didn't refuse so much as he didn't know that an offer was being made. The interference between the Censure Host and Prospero kept them from communicating directly, despite neither side seemingly realizing that nothing was getting through.
>>
>>51930836
There was only an hour between the offers for surrender and Cultural Enrichment, Tzeentch could have distracted Magnus for that long.
>>
>>51930736
It's the whole officer vs military police thing, yeah you can give orders but if your orders cross a line we're allowed to stop, detain, and potentially strip you if rank until we can prove you were justified

>You may out rank me, but don't you forget my authority

Valdor can't even use his above all minus emperor authority
>Beta confirmed

>>51930738
But no seriously, Valdor should have acted immediately and pulled authority on Russ, it never should have gotten to the "My CO is gonna die, better act now even though I did shit before". You let your CO put very personal feelings before orders.
>>
>>51930820
The Sisters completely null the TS powers when they are at 'normal' level. Later in the battle, when the TS have been chaotically super-charged, some of their more obscenely powerful attacks are not nulled.
One of the versions of the Russ / Magnus battle mentions that Sisters being nearby may have had an effect on Magnus.
>>51930836
Additionally to what the other anons said, Magnus wanted to be punished and his works cast down.

The humans who hear Valdor's later surrender demands don't believe him because they've spent all morning being brutalised by surprise Space Wolf knotwork.
>>
>>51928910
low energy
>>
>>51930820
In addition to the Sisters, there were ~38,000 human forces, 73,000 Space Wolves, 900+ Custodes, and 5 Warlord-class Psi-Titans to act as an escort for Magnus's return.
>>
>>51930939
None of those except the Titans, Russ, and the top-tier Custodes could have stopped a Magnus who didn't want to go and was prepared to fight, though.

I'm pretty hyped for Custodes.. you think you can play a pure Custodes list or will there be very little variation? Do you need to combine with other forces?

As far as I'm aware the EC didn't maintain a librarius because of the hidden abnormality some believed to be present in the gene-seed.

Alright, to get back to green-texting this thing

>The later stage of the battle is basically the events of ATS
>A warp storm appears on the surface, it bends space, time and probabilty.
>For example, some witness reports mention officers in action who died earlier that day.
>The narrator uses a statement made by a senior Sister as his basis of the Russ/Magnus fight, as everyone non-blank saw fantastical things
>Everyone on the TS side inside the warp storm teleports out, including the Spireguard and civilians, not just the TS
>The Imperium can't understand how that many people can teleport out-system at once and theorise that, if you sacrificed everyone else, the life energy would be enough to power the teleport of one man (ie Ahriman).
>So there's this theory that Ahriman is the only actual living Thousand Son and literally everyone else are like, warp ghost creations of Tzeentch that he uses as part of his plan for Ahriman. Or something.
>The numbers of confirmed TS survivors don't match the (greater) number of TS seen in the Heresy
>Not all the TS get teleported off. There were two holdout bastions:
>one went underground (but almost certainly all died, as the SW went after them),
>the other stole 3 non-warp spaceships and ran the Imperial blockade. One ship got shot down, the other 2 (filled with TS, Spireguard and civilians) vanished from Imperial record.
>The Sons of Horus contingent murdered the now-surrendering human forces.
>Then the Censure Host glassed the planet again.

So, if the Heresy hadn't kicked off when it did, what would a hypothetical war between the Great Crusade era Imperium and the Mechanicum (All of it, including the indentured Knight Houses) look like? Now they're reconnected with their domains they're not gaining much from the alliance with Terra. Could they take the Legions on? Much as it makes my Iron Hands sad to say it, I think they probably could. Without the Forge Worlds the Imperium doesn't have the production for a war, and grinding your way through Forge Worlds is bloody difficult when everything there actively wants to kill you.

Assuming the Imperium keeps a minority of the Forge Worlds, probably allies with Xana and such, as well as keeping a large chunk of the Reductor as they were more loyal to Terra, and the Mech keep enough agricultural, Hive and other worlds to function, since a lot of them are vassals anyway.

>Imperial command liked the XII Legio better, because while they were also butchers, at least they obeyed orders and conducted themselves with honour.

I'll do the Russ stuff in a bit.
The SW section also says the Vth Legio and the IXth Legio had serious geneseed problems early on, which I don't know has been mentioned before?

V Legion info??? If there's any more detail, please do tell.

I like that the SW changed significantly between the Heresy and M41, and wish more loyalist legions got that treatment. Yeah, it makes them look bad here, but that starting low and changing is usually a good story.

The DA change a lot, but even before HH was a thing we already knew that. The WS don't really change, nor the IF. BA... we'll see, but in the novels they appear to be the same as in 40k - wasted opportunity, given that losing Sanguinius was supposed to be such a big deal. IH don't change much either despite losing Ferrus Manus. UM don't change but we knew they wouldn't since they're the template for 40k chapters. RG and Sallies are the same too.

The VIth had their gene-seed sequestered as they were part of the trefoil, so avoided any problems (but were still unusually slow to build, with a very high implant failure rate.)

I like their fluff a lot (the pariah dog legion is cool), it's just funny that they are the team-killing, civilian-killing, dishonorable, nobody-likes-you asshole squad and they like it.
>>
>>51932854
Ah, that was the gene-seed plague which destroyed half of the IIIrd legion's gene-seed reserves. The other half was blown up by Lunar terrorists while in transport back to Terra.
>>
>>51932480
They're not shitting on the wolves anon, only after the Heresy and when Russ left they became noble savages.

This just shows that when they were still a legion, their function was to be executioners and nothing more. They are a bunch of flawed and deeply violent assholes before they became noble-savage puppies. It also ties in with the entire norse-men theme, violent as fuck and send to fuck shit up.
>>
>>51932902
I don't think the Executioner title really started to be used until after the Rangdan Xenocide.
>>
>>51932961
They're hinted to have destroyed one of the lost legions. I wouldn't expect any GW division to explicitly say it, though.
>>
>>51932999

It's actually hinted that one of those Legions was lost in the Rangdan Xenocide.
>>
>>51927733
It's worth remembering that corax is recorded as having purged more than a few cults and fought against warp-touched xenos on more than one occaision, which would have shaped his views. He also had a strange friendship with Russ, which was also a like high-order influence.

If anything can be said for Corax's faults, it's that he was more open to outside counsel and arguments than many of the other primarchs, which was both good and bad by varying degrees, and also shaped the RG's willingness for input regardless of rank.

Fenris fluff:
>According to a very senior Rogue Trader, it basically shouldn't exist
>Goes into detail about how absurdly hostile the planet's orbit and geographic conditions are to any form of life
>And yet it supports low-tech level people and multiple super-predators (including fucking Yetis) in a food chain that somehow works
>Points out that Fenrisian Wolves, while they look like really big wolves, are actually semi-sentient
>Points out that to have a stable population in such a world since the DAoT naturally is statistically bullshit
>Points out that the entire planet population being blatantly based on a particular old human culture is also bullshit
>Concludes that Fenris is so ridiculous it had to have been manufactured on purpose
>Reveals it appears on ancient star maps as "Fenryr Perdita" and on others as "Prison of Wolves".
>Speculates the Emperor knew were it was and went there on purpose.

weird how Magnus sees right through fenrisian wolves and can cow them.
>>
>>51932480
>>51932597
Geneseed problems with the wolves isn't really that strange, since I vaguely remember something in 3e-4e era fluff about Russ' DNA being needed to stabilize the Legion. Probably something to do with the Canis Helix.

>>51932586
And while it might have been a little mary-sue-ish, I liked the Alpha Legion's mysterious origins, and how they might have been created at the same time as the 1st Legion, and kept hidden to be used as some kind of black ops group.
>>
>>51932321

Pretty sure I've seen a quote from him where he says BL trumps any and all other fluff regarding HH.

I'll see if I can find it.

>Prison of wolves
I knew it.
It's Cold Australia.
>>
>>51933366
I think he's referring to the gene-seed plague mentioned in the IIIrd legion's history. Looks like the Vth and the IXth were also heavily affected.
>>
>>51933371
I recall those quotes. They're in reference specifically to old codices and the Index Astartes articles. He even concedes that newer works could contradict the HH novels and replace them, but until that happens, the novels would be the most accurate.

I love that this is the most consistent piece of fluff regarding Fenris, to the point that it's even in the common Fenrisians' folklore.

>Points out that the entire planet population being blatantly based on a particular old human culture is also bullshit
And yet it somehow keeps happening!
>>
>>51933383
The III's geneseed deposits were sabotaged. It wasn't a natural defect like the IX's, XV's or woofs'.
For the record, the XIVth's was deadly as well...but Barbarans were fucking tough and could accept it.
>>
>>51933431

I'm pretty sure it was in reference to FW books diverging from previously established BL canon on some things, and his answer was that BL trumps FW.
>>
>>51933366
We're talking about the White Scars, unless someone's leaving out an I.

>>51933371
He was saying that BL trumps older HH fluff. Index Astartes is 13-14 years old now. They ignored a lot of it when they started the HH BL series, like Jaghatai Khan riding into battle on a Razorback.
>>
>>51933434
That was the half of it being transported on the ship. The viral blight that hit up Terra's genestocks came from unknown origins.

How do I justify my loyalist DG chapter having survived Isstvan III without them being Garro's guys?

It's time to Russ

>2nd primarch found (Ferrus a few years later)
>Given Legion command v.quickly
>Brought his Varagyr (or Varangii), which translates to Wolf Guard, everywhere, and allowed them to undergo Astartes transplantation even though they were adults
>A surprisingly large number made it. It was discovered SW geneseed, especially samples from Russ, bonded well with Fenrisians.
>Everyone liked Russ as he was charismatic but gave clear, do-not-fuck-with-me orders
>He refers to his men as Wolves of Fenris, and so called the Legionaries the Wolves of Terra. Together, they would be called the Wolves That Stalk The Stars.
>The Terrans and the Fenrisians irritated each other at first, so Russ led them all into a fight as soon as he could so everyone could get to know each other better over some steaming hot corpses
>Holy shit it's the Wheel of Fire, that's a deep cut
>No seriously the Wheel of Fire campaign from 1st ed RT just rocked up. There's no Ork planet called Zit, though.
>Commander Enoch (hee hee) dies in the 5 year campaign
>In the interim the Emperor has built the Fang as a present
>It is notable for being so well-equipped and designed it essentially makes the Wolves almost totally self-sufficient, considered highly unusual.
>Given the chance to re-form Fenris into a civilised world, Russ declines and bends his will to keeping it fucked up so that it will essentially be the perfect machine to make Space Wolves
>There's a rumour that he actually brought in people from other feral worlds, brainwashed them to think they were from Fenris, and introduced them to the gene pool
>Russ used gene-tech to increase the lifespan etc of people chosen to staff the Fang
>He also sent out skjalds to influence Fenrisian culture into transposing the Emperor and the Wolves into their myths and legends ie the Allfather
>Some wagged their fingers at him as this was basically encouraging religion

The hypocrisy begins.

That's a nice present, considering the Fang is there third best defended location in the Imperium.
Guess the Emperor gave up being nice after third Primarch discovered turned out to be ALL RECORDS EXPUNGED FROM LIBRARY.

I will never forgive BL for taking one of the coolest things about the DA and just giving it to the VIth.

Russ has genetics that match well with a fucking prison world that the emperor knows about and magically winds up there?

Really looking forward to reading inferno now...Jesus christ the lore.

(Slightly sad happy about liking a legion of fucking space norse/aussies. Mixed times.)

>>
>>51933923
Lorgar did it to one dude, which is different.

But it was so cool that the Emperor was impressed by how the knights of Caliban had beaten a Death World into submission and brought in all his best dudes to make sure they could continue to fight alongside their younger compatriots.

And now we have Russ dragging a couple hundred old dudes along because they were his drinking buddies.
>>

Sure. Why not?

>>51933946
That's basically a company. (Which is very different from the seven Great Companies)
>>
>>51934062

You sure? I was pretty sure that the Duskc Raider chapters were merged and reorganized into the Great Companies and then went directly to battalions.
>>
>>51934013
Say that buddy. Write a little piece of the chapter's fluff and see if you like it. You don't need every /tg/ user to agree if your army is canon or not.
I am painting word bearers from the flayed hand chapter and I'm going to use them in the shadow crusade and Terra even when FW fluff says the chapter was destroyed in Calth

>And now we have Russ dragging a couple hundred old dudes along because they were his drinking buddies.
Back in the day, induction policies were lax as fuck. If you were a warrior and could survive the geneseed, you were golden.
And then there's Kor phareon the half Astartes.

Easiest way is for them to have been on the traitor side during Isstvan III, seen the traitors play around with the warp, and then get the hell out. Or you could have them turn loyalist at Isstvan V; there were plenty of loyalists who made it off-world.

Being on the loyalist side on Isstvan III, surviving in numbers, and then getting a ship is a bit snowflaky. Though not impossible, if they all found a bunker to hide in and its entrances were sealed in the firestorm. Maybe some of their buddies commandeered a ship later on and came back for them.
