Guess I'll port this over. The solution was just limiting it to a single ability per activation since it's uncommon. Not sure if it needs a P/T update or not to reflect this. 2/2 doesn't seem bad for a utility creature at 2 though, even in gold.

Though, now that I look at it, I feel like "an activated ability" is wrong. Like maybe it should use "choose" somehow.

Wow, I usually don't have cards ready for the theme, but here we are. Pretty simple, obvious riff on the Guide Auras that buff a creature then spawn a creature with the same buffs.

OK, last card for tonight, going to bed. No idea on how to cost this effect. Original iteration of the card was completely different and focused on flicker, but an anon said this ability was better, so I'm focusing on repeatable O-Ring. You know, unless it turns out to be not a good idea.

It's massively cheaper than Quicksilver Elemental. Now, granted, QSE wasn't very good, but I think a 3 mana drop might be a bit much.
I also think this is complex enough to warrant rare or mythic.

I feel like power-level wise, 4 cmc is fine for this gal. However, I feel like she has a bit too much going on ability wise. up to 5 cmc, up to mythic, or something else entirely? I want to keep the land ramp+mill flavor if possible

Cut the first ability. She's strong enough as a Crucible that hits everyone's graveyard, and the ability to dig for more lands is just bonus. Being able to play additional lands means she'll just be ramping into fatties that win the game, rather than attempting to mill people out.

You only capitalize the first keyword in a sentence.
Should say "When" rather than "Whenever" since it can only be put into a graveyard once. Yes, it comes back, but it's technically a different object when it does.
Also, "put on the graveyard from the battlefield" is wrong on two counts. Even if you wanted to use this wording it should be "put into a graveyard", but for creatures, you just say "When ~ dies".

Which opponent? You have to make things kosher for multiplayer formats. If you want to keep it to a single player, you should add

Then the other abilities become

Also, for legends, for most of them, you have to use the full name of the card the first time. Just so you know, ~ is the full name of a card, and @ is the "legend name" of a card, which includes all the characters up to the first comma. In this case ~ would be Jecht, Final Aeon, and @ would be Jecht.
Anyway, next ability should then be

Thought I could get away with hitting players too. Going forward, I just want to point out that I don't want my cards to be considered pushed at their mana costs, I want things to be costed fairly, at about the same level you'd expect to see things in Standard or Modern.

Just put two colons together (::) in MSE and they'll make the bulletpoint for you. But even if you didn't know, that, what was stopping you from going on Gatherer or something and copy/pasting it?
This seems good to me, though you should order the effects so they match the colors in the cost. So in this case, move the first ability to the second, the second ability to the third, and the third ability to the first.

Small changes, upped both by 1 in cost and +1/+1 in P/T. Change was due to thinking they should both have better stats than badass normals like Batman. In terms of keywords, they were chosen to be foils to each other, one encourages attacking, the other encourages (or at least helps) blocking. If anyone decides to ask about Reach, I'll probably do that for Ben Reilly. Haven't really touched any of the Spider-Man things for a while now. I'm just a much bigger fan of DC than Marvel, sorry.

Oh, I found it, it's a file MSE is using to reference things. Here, I made a zip with my file in it. Unpack it and put it into the data folder in the Magic Set Editor 2 folder. Obviously you should move your old mse-game folder first, or just delete it. Yes, I know the name is gross, but I can't remember my MediaFire account.

Trying X-23 again. Will add the title to the final card, just easier to use iterations numbers without numbers in the card name. Anyway, this version trades DTouch for discard. Supposed to be a foil of sorts to Logan, who is 3/3, has DStrike and Indie, and also has the damage can't be prevented clause (supposed to represent strength of adamantium). Sorry to the anon who said these guys shouldn't have Indie and should have Regen instead.

Alright so I revised these uncommons.

I gave him more power and made him a perma-attacker that gives other creatures a form of evasion on attack. I might add some evasiveness on him, however.

This was the uncommon B/W I wanted you guys to see. Its design is intended to give you a potential loot effect on your draw steps at the expense of your own artifacts/creatures.

Why does she discard? Isn't she just "girl Logan"? Well, with a different backstory and whatnot. Her powers are basically the same. I guess she fights differently so that's one way you could separate them. Discard, to me, reflects mindfucks and delirium/madness/despair. X-23 is just... mean. Thought up a strange idea for a PW. It's simplistic, but it's twofold: the idea of an ETB 'Walker, and the PW itself as a concept. The former is likely much more interesting than the latter. In case anyone is curious, the ult is cribbed from Devouring Greed, and re-purposed for Zombie tribal.

For X-23 and Luke, I admit I just added those abilities haphazardly so they'd be more than just beaters. Bad choice, I know. This is grixis, not temur. Black has a lot of effects just like this while green only has a few that are "may cast" effects. The closest comparison to this I can think of for G are courser of kruphix effects which are not that similar to this.
other then this being in the wrong color pie, it feels fine. It's a very inconsistent not-drawing engine which usually range from 2-4 mana, and this is in 3 colors and only has the upside of sometimes getting you a lot of not-drawing effects. I think the effect is inconsistent enough not to warrant being 5 mana.

Turning lands into dudes permenantly is mostly a G thing. Red usually just does it temporarily, but I think it's fine to let it pass here sense RW has some precidence for converting lands into creatures (Goblin Trenches) so this isn't _that_ out of color. Besides that effect being a little out of pie, I think it's fine. You might want to add some spaces at the end of the third ability so it isn't getting over lapped by the loyalty counters.

The whole point of worship is to make those kind of enchantment based effects viable without an entire set being themed around enchantments. A Enchantmentcraft won't work in a set if only 2 colors really care for it, at least not the same way metal craft did.
There will be plenty of effects like enchantment craft, and some other things like the Disciple of Sho'mas. The goal of the keyword is to enable those kind of effects.

Origins had an enchantment subtheme in only two colors AND an artifact subtheme in another two colors. It's perfectly doable.

Another X-Men member (sorta), Magneto. First ability is actually an ability I first used on Static. Despite making the Villain type, I'm kinda reluctant to use it on him. I'll probably relent eventually though. Recursion ability is supposed to be him reshaping metal into something he wants. I guess I could make it tutor, but that seems too good. You could do two things with X-23 depending on the version you want to represent. There's the semi-feral badass assassin and the vicious defender of her friends. Blog post ahead. With how (painfully) similar the current plot is to something out of a comic, I think it's partly due to Magic having some comic book fans working on it, and partly due to some idiot looking at the current trend in superhero movies (do note that I consider these different from comic book movies). It really hurts. Apparently nobody at Wizards seems to be aware that the draw of Magic was the planes. Every time, I'm disappointed we don't learn more about the planes, because they tend to be so well-made. But god, then they turn the planeswalkers into X-Men rejects, force them into becoming the most painfully forced version of the Avengers I've ever seen, and absolutely refuse to keep them out of the spotlight for any period of time. And that's not even getting into all the fucking retcons. Fucking hell I could go on forever. I'm always amazed that Wizards plans sets five years in ahead, yet they can't keep a single fucking story straight for five months. The revelation that Nahiri was stuck in the Helvault this whole time nearly gave me an aneurysm.

The PW hate is kinda weird and jarring after reading the first ability. I guess they kinda mesh, since PWs often protect themselves with tokens, but still. I like the first ability on its own as GW hate and wouldn't mind it just being that, truth be told.

Speaking of PWs protecting themselves with tokens, I took the suggestion to update Nythe to a 4-ability template, though I may have underpowered the Bone Splinters-like ability. It did a lot of revolutionary things with art and paneling. There's a willingness to push boundaries in general. It's very different to most comic featuring superheroes.

Hmm, I'll keep reading then. Only read the first four issues so far, but if I weren't making cards based on the comic, I would've stopped by now. The exposition just seems so hamfisted (Jack talks aloud to no-one to briefly and poorly exposit about this powers, Apollo and Midnighter talk about themselves as Apollo and Midnighter because the writer couldn't think of a better way to tell you who they are, Midnighter giving his tryhard speech, characters constantly either telling each other about their powers which you think the others would know about, and thinking out loud to the point where I wish the writer just used thought bubbles and I hate thought bubbles), it's a big turn-off for me. And it really irritates me that, despite the exposition's being so in your face, the writer can't be bothered to elaborate on the characters' powers, and "vague powers" is one of my absolute biggest pet peeves in superhero comics, probably number two right beneath "status quo is god". Seriously, I have no clue what to do with the Doctor (either of them) because it seems that his power is "magic".

But if we're talking about Wildstorm comic, read Wildcats 3.0 (volume 3). I don't think there's anything quite like it in comics. It's basically a post-cyberpunk story featuring superhero characters who actually decide that they should change the world, permanently.

DV8 is good too. Really wish writers would just take the idea of prehistoric supers and run with it.

Oh, and Planetary. LXG done right.

You only need to say "can't be countered by spells or abilities" if the spell has a target. And the rest of your wording needs help too.

The exact parsing is up to you, but it should be "owners'" and damage needs a source.

For some reason I thought the threads would pick up on the weekend. Guess not.

OK, Midnighter again. Trying to show off his precognition with this one. Though I was thinking of adding Prowess and making it Scry X instead, where X is his power. But I do realize how oppressive a Fateseal ability can be, so I'll try to keep that low. Hopefully it's not too good as it is now.

Another Wildcats member. He's a psychic who can influence people, which is represented here by his abilities. Pretty odd for a RW card I realize, but I think these are the colors of the effects. At least, the R is obvious, but I'm not so sure on the W. I'm also not 100% sure the W ability is legit, so if I'm missing something, please tell me.

The white ability does not have direct precedence, but Silence exists. I could very easily see a pseudo-Silence in the same vein as that in white at common rarity, so I'll give it a thumbs up.

The scry is definitely powerful, but this guy does nothing but serve as a 3/3 that sometimes filters for you. In limited he's okay, in constructed he's poor, and in EDH style formats, he's mediocre. If you wanted him to be more powerful, you could add some kind of conditional evasion.

The flavor is cool, but fracturing gust effects generally tend to fall in Green/White more than any other color. Red does hate on artifacts, but that part of the card is like WWWR worth of effect. Actually, looking back on this, your design is incredibly elegant in that you are getting EXACTLY your manas worth for the effects: R for a bolt, UUW to bounce all creature, RWW to Fracturing Gust. I personally feel like the 3 damage is lackluster, but otherwise it's good.

Eh, Midnighter's a bitch to design. Basic idea is that in a fight, he can see all the moves the opponent will make against him, so he can properly formulate counterattacks to be almost unbeatable. Since that's basically Cassandra Cain's power, I might just make him into a variant of her. I originally wanted the ability to work for players, basically, this manipulation of future draws.

Happy to see someone else doing the ETB PW thing. The One With Nothing on ETB feels like it meshes well with the ult/-X and at the same time is a bit much. It does give me an idea for one myself though. Sure it seeds the yard for that -8, but comparing that to Liliana Vess, it feels a bit lackluster. I suppose given that it's easier to get value out of it it's comparable, but maybe you could start her at 5 loyalty and then the -X also feels better if you pop her immediately after pitching your hand, so it nets you a 5 power creature for 4 mana? The +1 is really strong too. Not sure if it's okay as-is, since again Lili just forces discard and is CMC5.

I'd be interested in an explanation of why exactly you dislike them. I was thinking about the previous critique of "but just make the + ability do both things" but in many cases, that'd make the + ability too good for repeated use, but it at least nets you something else you can do with it that turn, the one time.

I dislike the ETB abilities because it just feels like another gimmick, and I'm not big on gimmick walkers. I realize that's subjective, it's just my opinion. One thing I think would be interesting though is if the ETB did something like spawn a legendary token, someone/thing closely related to the planeswalker, like Nissa could enter with Ahaya from her Origins card, or Ajani could enter with Shadowblayde (terrible name BTW, reminds of stupid 90's crap).

That's actually an interesting idea. Another would be ETB emblems as a possibility. I'm not gonna try to convince you to like them, but at least you see potential in it even if you don't care for it, and that's a very sensible approach to take. I like the cut of your jib.

So, for Midnighter (>>51579017) I thought of a few potential abilities, but rather than make a card for each one of them and go through them one-by-one, I figure I might as well just list the abilities and see if any of you guys think they're good. These are working under the presumption that the body that they're on is a 3/3 with Prowess and nothing more.

>Prevent all damage that would be dealt to ~ by creatures with power less than ~'s power.

>~ has protection from creatures your opponents control with power less than ~'s power.

>Whenever ~ blocks or becomes blocked by a creature with power less than ~'s power, destroy that creature.

All the abilities are supposed to tie into his precognition power, where he basically sees all the attacks coming so he can dodge all of them and counterattack. But it doesn't make him invincible, and he can still get curbstomped be people bigger and stronger (because it doesn't matter how smart you are, people who can juggle planets can still rip you in half without breaking a sweat).

In the meantime, here's a new version of Herald. Previous version posted bounced the permanent, and people commented on how it could force your opponent to just draw one card for the rest of the game. Let me know if I need to adjust any costs, I find it hard to get a feel for how good X-cost effects are.

Because an ETB frees you up to also + ability, and PWs are nothing but piles of value anyway, so arguing that making them more valuable "cheapens" them somehow is a bit silly. They pretty much only exist to give you a toolbox that's typically too expansive to fit on an enchantment or artifact. The fact that they can be attacked is just a balance thing that is hidden behind the guise of "fluffiness".

Thanks! Although I'm pretty sure I didn't change a thing about the ult, other than trying to move it so the last few words weren't covered by the starting loyalty. The only thing I've thought of changing for the ult is recurring the creature so it's tapped and attacking, but I've always felt that it would make it too good.

Made because I had the art. Idea is a riff on Cone of Flame, though this one doesn't target players, and you can target the same creature more than once. Which, if you wanted to, would mean you could have the card deal 7 damage to one creature, 3 damage to another, and 1 damage to each of two other creatures.
