Depends what you own already.

If Gambler Chest is considered a Xpac and at this point it should be. That's probably mandatory.

Otherwise I feel like if you already have the base game and xpacs it's all about that First Hero+Silver City+Campaigns of Death.
Followed close behind with Abyssal right up there with Screaming God and Ivory.

If you get Abyssal and have everything you should get Weaver. Otherwise you can pick it or Peeps at your whim unless you get Inverted Mountain which requires Peeps.
If you red Reds you want Gryphon/Pariah/MaybeMountain etc.

Node 3 is a bit over-saturated with BK, Ram, Phoenix+whatever woods gives you. So they're probably lower tier. I know BK is low tier for me despite the amount of gear cards simply because he saves you less money on the KS deals compared to the other $50 xpacs.

Played another two lantern years of my test run Honeycomb fan campaign over the weekend. Some highlights:

- One of my more experienced honeypots got stuck with the Belt of Gender swap. Since honeypots are immune to change gender effects, I was like, "Meh. Whatever." The next year she got that leg injury that disables abilities and fighting arts. Imagine the surprise of the other, all-male survivors in my hunting party when the Sunstalker punched their most venerated breeder in the leg so hard it turned her into a man.

- The campaign is a roller coaster of population levels. I've been as high as 23 pop and as low as 5. I'm currently at around 16 after losing 4 pop to the level 2 Butcher stand-in (its pretty punishing showing up year 9 in this campaign) and then another 5 population to a campaign event in the same year.

- The Honeypot Queen location is pretty powerful, but it won't really work the way it's supposed to until Honeycomb Weaver shows up in a fewish years. I'm thinking it might need some numbers tweaks, still, but it does seem to do the basics of what I wanted it to do in creating a more stable source of population in the second half of a campaign.

- Given the number of deaths that tend to happen in the campaign, and the extreme difficulty of grabbing any of the weapon masteries, I'm thinking of adding a campaign event that grants a chance at a mastery when the final death box in the settlement record sheet is filled in. Maybe the massive pile of bodies attracts a particularly venerable Flower Knight that is interested in using the bodies as fertilizer and it's willing, with a little bit of luck, to trade its weapon mastery knowledge as payment. I already have a bunch of events, though, so I'm worried that'd end up being overkill.

You're right, I was mixed up by the fact that Sunstalker and Dragon are also node 3, but not the Gryphon.

If I'd have to make a guess though I'd say Abyssal woods probably doesn't come with a node 3 option, as it is meant to be compatible with DBK and Weaver, both node 3 monsters.

It's interesting that he went with the Lantern Halberd instead of the modified Lantern Glaive from the original art. The lack of the heater-shaped shield is understandable, since it's not obvious in the original art. I have ideas for a more offensive-based lantern, but we shall see how well that's received later I guess.

One of my friends got crazy and decided to dual wield their Mace Master with Speed Powder and Whistling Maces.

The kicker? The survivor also had Legendary Lungs! He'd draw half the deck and act all proud each time he didn't manage to hit the trap.

12 successful hits once. Twelve! He almost gibbed an Antelope in one swing.

Your mistake is how you handle FOV.

FOV isn't what's in front of the lion, FOV is *every single space on the board except the two directly behind the lion and any spaces occluded by obstructing terrain*.

Think of the lion as a semitruck. It has mirrors, but those mirrors can't see you if you're right up its ass. Everywhere else it can see.

I haven't started on that yet. Honestly don't know how to paint it up and still look interesting. I was thinking of a dull silver, covered with a spackling of moss. Here you go.

For the masteries granting event: I'm thinking it will be split based on your death principal.

If you have Graves, the Flower Knight gathers up your corpses and then tells your settlement about a Watcher that devoured an ancient settlement in the Plain of Faces. You then send four survivors on a special showdown with the Watcher and if you win you get Fist Mastery. If you lose you archive Graves as the Watcher sets up shop in your settlement and devours the history of your settlers the moment they die.

If your settlement has cannibalism, I'm thinking the Flower Knight will become enraged when it discovers the corpses have all been eaten. It then attacks and your settlement enters a special showdown with a Flower Knight/Sunstalker hybrid that uses the shadows and shade spawning rules in addition to the advanced fairy ring rules. If you win you get Shield Mastery. If you lose you lose your Cannibalism principle as the Flower Knight demands a constant tithe of corpses.

Basically it's Simon Says or Die with an asshole who likes to push you out of position so you'll always lose if you play the game. He's pretty fragile, though, and a lot of his moves involve him sitting around with his thumb up his ass for a turn. If you can burst him hard enough he'll go down, theoretically.

Took anons advice from last thread and decided to make the reincarnation mechanic seperate from Hunt XP, and de-link it from retirement. Survivors now age normal, and don't have to worry about an absurdly hard Phoenix fight.

People of the Tree have 4 'milestone stats'. They have Courage and Understanding, like other campaigns, and then they also have Passion and Lifetime. Passion increases every time you are nominated for intimacy.

Passion, Courage, and Understanding all share the same milestone event when you gain your third point in them, which is called Whispers. Your survivor hears the Lonely Tree whispering to them, and gains an ability where (once per phase) when they gain a point of Courage, Understanding, or Passion, they also gain a point of Lifetime.

When you trigger the 3 point milestone event of Lifetime, next settlement phase (or immediately if it already is the settlement phase) the survivor ceases to exist, and you trigger an event similar to A Warm Virus where the survivor possesses a new survivors body. They keep their old Courage, Understanding, and Passion stats, but not the Lifetime stat (though they can still continue to gain Lifetime to trigger Rebirth again)

However, once your survivor maxes out Passion, Courage, and Understanding, they can no longer trigger Rebirth, and will keep advancing toward the final Lifetime milestone, which triggers the end game where the final boss monsters start showing up.

Since the trigger for endgame is no longer tied to the timeline, I've decided that encounters shouldn't use the limited quarry system in the deck. So while Nemesis and Quarry monsters get removed when you beat them, the encounter monsters will get returned to the deck afterwards.

Each of the 4 stats also has a unique milestone/ability for capping out.

A survivor with maxed out Courage gets +1 Monster Resource at the end of a showdown, and any time they gain a monster resource DURING the showdown, they also gain a basic resource. Between this, and the ability to swap out resources from one monster for another, it should provide plenty of resources for making any sets, even in spite of the limited quarries.

Maxed out understanding is currently undecided. I think I will have to see what gaps are left in the campaign from all the expansions before I fill this in.

Maxed out Passion gives bonuses to intimacy, and also makes the campaigns savior equivalent a bit stronger.

With the intimacy chart I decided to take a page from the Sunstalker Intimacy chart, and actually have both die rolls affect the chart, in a fairly minor fashion. If the sum of the dice is 5 or less, the parents die and you ignore the roll. If the sum is 15 or more, they give birth to the savior equivalent, in addition to whatever other children they have from the roll itself. So 10% chance to lose the parents, 21% chance to get an extra kid. That's a pretty high chance, but the special kids are incredibly mediocre. It's just choose Jagged Marrow Fruit, Porous Flesh Fruit, or Blistering Plasma Fruit from the Lonely Tree, and gain the ability it gives you. Choose an additional fruit for each parent with maxed Passion.

Good news for survival of the Fittest though, the chart itself isn't actually lethal. Rolling a 1 just means no child, no passion, and parents gain a disorder. The 2-3 result is what actually helps balance SotF. You get a pathetic child. You still get +1 population, but the child gains no benefits from principles or innovations.
4-7 is just a normal child. 8-9 is a child with a free random fighting art. 10 is twins, and any higher gives you a child and an extra roll on the chart.

Swords in your Gear Grid gain Block 1. When you block a hit with a sword, your next attack with a sword gains +2 accuracy, strength, and speed. Limit once per round.

And then you can shatter your arm to train it to someone else because Percival was hardcore apparently.

I'll consider changing it. I was trying to make the "really really luck roll" harder to pull off at that level, so I left the 2 roll the same as all the previous age milestones. It might be too bad relative to all the other possible results, though. Maybe a "bad but good" result like losing honeypot and suffering destroyed genitals, but gaining some absurd amount of strength?

Attached is the updated version of the ruleset with the death count limit event added in. It's currently set to trigger when you reach 25 death count rather than the full 38 so that you have a chance to actually fight these legendary monsters in a regular campaign. I've also added a secret fighting art you can grab if you trigger the event a second time. It's basically equivalent to the King of a Thousand Battles fighting art because I figured, if you manage to lose 50 survivors in 25 lantern years and not lose the game, that's worth rewarding. Also gives further incentive to play risky with population, which enhances the playstyle I was going for.

I'm not sure what specificly would be good but if you look at the base game, the only time lowest roll can give you something amazing is in the character milestones. I think it's the one area where even if you roll low it's okay because it's meant to progress your character, there are never any downsides to 'leveling up'.

For example iirc one of the only ways to get ageless is to roll a 1 or a 2 during maxed understanding. imo it's the one area you can be forgiving.

Add 1 Iron to the Dragon King's rewards in the Aftermath.

Reaper
Psychovore: Whenever a survivor takes brain damage, roll d10. If the result is lower than the survivor's insanity, the target loses a random disorder and the Dragon King gets a +1 damage token. If the survivor had no disorders, they get the Stolen Dreams survivor status instead. (The Dragon King will still gain a +1 Damage token)

Gambler
Gambler's Blessing: The Dragon King has +100 luck

Absolute
Rooted to All: If the Dragon King doesn't move on its turn, it gets +5 Toughness until its next turn

Sculptor
Crafter of Flesh: Ignore persistent injuries. Survivors get -2 to severe injury rolls

Goblin
The survivors catch only the barest glimpse of the Dragon King before it eludes them fully. Each survivor rolls 1d10. Any survivor who rolls a 1 saw too much and dies. Then, suffer Starvation, but the survivors may return to the start of the Hunt track and hunt another quarry (without Departing). It can't be a Dragon King.

IMO it's not what you do with your first run at F&T Mastery, it's what you do with plentiful spawn born with 2-4 ranks in F&T: Throw them at things that could provide a powerful, permanent bonus and actually utilize the ones it sticks to.

I'm still not sure it's worth it to main F&T with anything short of the full package, though, but if the character with good F&T mains a Bow or Zanbato it can feel good to have a reasonable backup weapon when cumbersome would screw you, or you break the damn Zanbato due to insufficient Cat's Eye Circlet uses (Or, you know, the support character getting dead or something), or so on. And hey if you get mastery, that's some sweet stats.

Seems like most of the Node 1 Monsters are pretty shit tier in terms of aesthetics, except the Weaver unless Poots fucks it up.

Looking only at expansions, they all seem pretty solid in concept to me. Time will tell, though. My guess is Black Knight could suck if its low fight count mechanic leads to it having issues of representation in the game similar to what's seen with the Lonely Tree. The nemesis monsters are solid candidates for shit tier, too, since they tend to have less content. One of the bigger expansions, like Ivory Dragon/Silver City, could end up not being produced/just being poorly designed due to scope being too large.

We got Fist & Tooth mastery! Here's how our Acid palms-bearing, metal maw-wearing F&T Master looks like. The STR tokens are from Monster Claw, Red Fist, & Quixotic. The Luck token comes from someone packing the cello.

Player already proclaimed he's keeping the tool belt from Manhunter level 3 because that'll bump his evasion to +9 if he replaces the monster grease with it.

This was a survivor who was born with enhanced stats thanks to (new) Survival of the Fittest and Clan of Death. And Barbarism.

Did a bunch more years playtesting People of the Hive. Mostly fought Sunstalker over and over and over. Some highlights/continued thoughts:

* If you get lucky enough to get a hold of the Pheromone Grenade rare gear, don't bring it anywhere near Sunstalker. He will destroy everything soluble you have ever loved and then grin at you with his stupid huge teeth. What use I have gotten out of the item makes it seem quite powerful. I might make spending survival a part of the requirement to use it, as its ability to be dissolved by Sunstalker spit seems to be its only downside right now.

* I got the Bee Tail Larvae hunt event I included in the expansion tonight. It was a lot of fun when combined with the new SotF and the insane numbers of newborns you can generate in the campaign. I essentially made All of the Babies to gain a ton of rerolls on the event. I had to sacrifice one of my best male survivors and all of my endeavors for the phase, but I managed to pull off optimal results on the event. Felt like a fun puzzle where I sacrificed much for a chance at greatness.

* I got within three deaths of triggering the campaign's pseudo legendary boss fight, so I decided to just kill off a bunch of bros through breeding to deliberately trigger it. I get to rumble with the Watcher and the Hand's illegitimate love child next time I get into the campaign. Wish me luck, folks.

* Purple Honey Pots are feeling way too powerful to me, right now. I think I'll have to play a few campaigns if I really want to figure out their impact on a campaign, though. The Red and Blue honeypots are pretty great, too.

* In general, the end game with this campaign feels a lot better after the first 8 or so Lantern Years. I'm not sure what I can do to make the earlier years better, but I'll be thinking about it. Campaigns tend to end early quite often, so there should be something in the campaign that makes the early, most played years feel as strong as the later years.

I'm currently pledged at $620 on a BF Gold Lantern. Assuming for now there's no pledge increasing in the manager, which of these two setups seems like a better idea. I picked partly for the models, but between these which is a better idea?

Anything that speeds setup times for games is fantastic.

I mean seriously, give one a shot, especially for a large and complicated game like KD:M, and you will not be disappointed.

The only thing that doesn't fit in the original organizer are monster decks.

Which have separators so they don't get mixed up.

So those can be put in another box easily.

Takes literally 2 minutes to get everything on the table. Takes longer to set up my tables.

So, I've never modified a mini before but the re-posed DBK from the last couple threads inspired me to give it a shot. Since I had a bunch of spare Kingsmen from the survivors pledge (who needs FIVE extra Kingsmen?) they seemed the obvious choice.

My goal was to give him a more dynamic pose, specifically doing one of those sweeping attacks that the Kingsmen love to do in the games.

Thoughts? Suggestions? I've never done this before, so I'm presuming I've made at least one terrible mistake.

You should have just used the mini box as your cardboard insert and put something down the edges of the organizer between it and the box to keep it up.

The board sits on top of that. No card crushing at all.

As someone planning to buy the organizer, it's like 80% aesthetics and 20% utility. The current organizer that comes with the game has issues with the height of the dividers, and getting the dividers crushed by the board, unless you put the board and paperwork UNDER the tray, and frequently removing trays tends to wear them out. I could easily make a small lift for the corners as others have done, and it will cost me about 50 cents and 2 minutes of my time. It would be functional, but not pretty.

Alternatively, I could buy these, spray paint them black, and use those in the box, so everything would fit nicer and I won't need a clearly DIY solution for it.

I already have everything organized in a decent enough manner (got rid of the tray entirely, everything in labeled ziploc bags) but the price point of the trays is hardly an issue, and the look and feel of it is far better.

I like the upper body, its really boss, but the legs really need some work done. His right leg shouldnt be coming out so low, the thigh should be angled so that it looks like its properly coming from his hip. I suggest repositioning the thigh higher (and maybe abit of reconstructing) and resculpting the tabard so that it folds properly to show his exposed thigh. Good effort though, for taking that step

I'm annoyed they haven't shown anything of it yet. I doubt it'll be a multi-layered thing like the ones being bought now. That's what people like about these inserts. There's trays you can individually take out as needed that have everything nice and organized. Poots made it sound like his sturdier insert is just a more efficiently spaced redesign of the old one.

It's the back leg, the one closer to the cloak, I think you might have to bend and reposition the knee and the back leg. A better way to idealize the body position is to actually do it irl. Try to imagine how the body moves when he swings/sweeps. Good Luck friend.

I'm not quite sure though, I've never converted a model and what you have so far is decent.
