19/20, what a season that was. After losing the league for the first time I came back strongest ever, losing only 2 games. In Europe League not only I won more than 1 game in group stage but 5, got past the 1st knockout round, but ultimately the dream died when I got drawn against Tottenham, who's becoming my arch-enemy because in 4 games I'm yet to win. I've managed to convince my GOAT GK to stay and sign 4-year contract with optional extension (already triggered btw) even though Real, Barca, PSG and every major club in existence is interested in him. And thanks to the effort of Polish AI, being the champion means no qualification for me - straight to the group stages we go. Polish Ekstraklasa is 9th in the world right now.

I get more than half my shots as long shots, often 10-15 long shoots per game, and they're divided evenly on four midfielders and two strikers... Get some very nice goals though, and I still have most of the ball.

The only thing I haven't tried is to have half back and to expect that Libero will go forward while half back will fall into his place. But knowing SI shits this will fail even worse than much more logical approach. They really made it impossible for this position to work. If there are any midfielders who doesn't run forward during attack, he just stands. If he's man marked by forward it's the end of the world. The only way to make him semi-working is to have all necessary preferred moves and insane stats in shooting and dribbling + both legs. Then he will score from 25+ m and be usefull in the air. Pure sweeper just has no purpose, especially with that jumping+height. Having proper DM instead of him will be so much better.

What formation are you playing? Sounds like a 4-1-4-1 with no passing options up front. Your striker gets marked and the path to him gets blocked, and suddenly there's nothing that your midfielders can do to get the ball in a better position and they just shoot.

If that is your formation, turn your wingers into an attacking role and switch one of your midfielders into an APa while keeping the other guy a CMa. Tell any midfielder you can to "get further forward". Lower the passing tempo so that players wait longer before they decide what to do, which gives the deeper players on attack duty the time to push up. Tell your team to push higher up too.

It's not about the youngers, as Legia my reputation is low and I need to scout Hungarian/Serbian league for good players who don't have ridiculous wage demands. By now I've a pretty sizeable report database so if I want to find a decent player I can filter for 2,5+ stars by the scout report and I get a list of ~50 players which I can investigate manually. To me, mostly GNK Dinamo or Shaktar. Dinamo Zagreb has good youth facilities which would "ensure" a correct level of youngsters there or mercenaries to get a loan for. However, be aware of the gap in Reputation as some players will refuse to come to your club based on that. Ukrainian clubs tend to have decent youth too. Russian clubs usually don't, and unless your squad registration rules are fairly lax, they're not EU players either (well neither are Serbians so pay attention to that).

It would make sense to load if you were in a bigger nation, but then even Brazilian regens are more consistently good and usually cheap as long as their rep is low. Argies are somewhat more expensive so I wouldn't shop there but I would load the league. Check out clubs like Kairat (Kazakhstan), ASEC Mimosas (Ivory Coast). Especially ASEC. You don't even need to load the league, just check out every once in a while.

Lower leagues is literally a lot about simply scouting players. You need to be scouting players ALL the time, there ideally should not be a day where you scouts are not working on reports. The reason is that your scouts are shit and the players you scout are shit, so their opinions are unreliable. You have to learn the true attributes of as many players as possible and give them the eye test before signing.

I was able to get quite a few handsome players on non-contracts when I managed Dreieich in the 5th and 4th division. You better get up to the 2nd league sometime soon, because your club is probably leaking money and indebted in the millions right now.
