Simply stop using him as an AP. The role makes it so that the player is basically inhibited in his ability to penetrate, he gets an extreme focus on being open to receive a pass and to stay outside the box at all times (only penetrating the box if the ball is near the goal line) to give other attackers the space to attack the box themselves. If you use an AP, the best you an hope for goals-wise is rare longshots - or to have a player who is fantastic enough to score regardless.

It's not like using a player as an AM makes him lose his playmaking ability. It's just that his preferences/playstyle becomes less extreme and less shifted towards retaining the ball and passing it forward, and more about doing what's generally the smartest idea (or at least doing what the player considers to be the best idea).

Playmaker roles are a shit meme and one should only use them sparingly, perhaps after choosing a formation and realizing that you have enough attacking threat but not enough passing options.

I remember back when I last played FM I used to start with just the English leagues, then a few seasons in switch on the Italian, Spanish and French leagues.

To fill the newly 'activated' teams with players you'd get random regens that were incredible. Teams like Atalanta would suddenly have a team full of regens with ridiculous stats and start dominated their league and in Europe.

Was fun, you could get loads of really good young players this way as they all had the same low release fee for some reason. It was a bit of a cheat.

Does this still happen in the newest one?

Goes to tier 6 in its latest revision (3.1 or something, it's the exact same thread I linked to). It's the most realistic one. However, the holiday system doesn't work, which means the players get two weeks of holidays despite being done with the league a good month ago. Which means that when you start playing those CL/EL Quali rounds, your team will be shot unless you consistently send them on holiday yourself for weeks. Which is completely inane. Also, the U19s and Reserves leagues are garbage. They just are, don't go and try for yourself.

Let me explain it. First of all, I'm from FM15 and jumped to 17 after FM16 was such a mistake. The Slovenian vanilla db in FM15 was a fuckery. Matches were forced on Saturdays, which completely fucked you over if you played in the EL due to playing on Tuesdays. And when you're strong enough to field two teams (one for Europe and one for the league), well you're just dominating the league anyway.

So I've made a fantasy system that goes as follows:
1st tier: Pro football, 20 teams. 3 relegations.
2nd tier: Pro football (it's not realistic but fuck you it's my db), 20 teams. 4 relegations
3rd tier: two groups of 20 teams, Semi-Pro football. 2 promotions for each group, 3 relegations.
4th and last tier: Amateur football. 3 groups of 23 teams, two promotions for each group.

Everything is televised, first two tiers have prize money for final positions for which I followed the German system where the league winner wins roughly twice as much as the last placed team. See pic related: I didn't use huge values (I averaged the prize money for a league win for the 6 ex-Yugo leagues), but due to the very egalitarian system there's some money in the league compared to your neighbours... except Coratia that has much more money than you ever will have.

One national cup, which is the most disappointing thing about my db as it's completely randomized but every team participate, prize money for each round and so on. And one Super Cup, with prize money.

Aside from that, there are few modifications to Slovenia itself: the Youth Rating is a rough average of the 6 ex-Yugo countries, which brings it up from 78 to... 87. Slovenian staff now has some scouting knowledge of ex-Yugoslavia, and increased transfer business with these countries. The player values and wages values are slightly higher due to there being more money on average being copied from Serbia for the highest value.

To match the increased transfer business between Slovenia and the rest of the ex-Yugo countries, now their players also count as EU nationals as well as UK and Irish players. Usually I'd go for 6 non-EU slots, this older version has 8 for the 1. SNL, 6 for the 2. SNL, 4 for the two lowest tiers except for the first year after relegation (like in France). Not like you'll be able to attract non-EU players with your Slovenian wages anyway...

the 3GB was the reason why I initially wanted to buy the 570 (which comes with 4GB), because literally EVERYONE (at least in Germany) will tell you that anything below 4GB is definitely not enough and that you should buy 6GB or 8GB to be safe. Then I looked up which games were even affected by having less than 4GB, found out that it's less than half a dozen, and that in those games where Nvidia's 3GB are not enough for ultra settings, AMD's 4GB won't save you either.

I even checked screenshots and shit to make sure. 1060 3GB can run DE:MD with medium textures with no hickups, 570 4GB can run high textures with no hickups. I compared the quality levels between medium and high and I honestly could almost never tell a difference - the only noticable jumps in texture quality were between low <-> medium and high <-> ultra. So, even in the very few games where 3GB holds you back, 4GB won't save your ass either.

Couple that with the fact that I only play FIFA, CSGO and FM, and the fact that the RX 570 won't cut it from a pure chip power standpoint once 4GB+ actually becomes mandatory, I thought to myself that there's legitimately no point in waiting for the 570 over the 1060 3GB. Because as I've said, the additional GB in VRAM only helps you on paper, not in real life - only ~4-5 games need more than 3GB VRAM today, and those games that do perform the same on 3GB and 4GB. Especially since details really don't matter to me - all I care about is being able to run the games in native resolution, I'm fine with playing on low settings. And the 1060 is better for that because it's a faster chip, it will keep me afloat for longer, even if I'll have to compromise on the texture quality more often.

I honestly don't see the point. Buying 6GB means paying 70€ more in germany (180 -> 250), which is a hefty price increase. I mean, if I save the 70€ now I'll easily be able to play my games for the next 4-5 years with it, and then I can just buy the next modern budget card for 170€ which will last me for another 4-5 years and I'll spend less money than if I had bought a 1070 today. As long as you're not an enthusiast gamer (an autist), not going for the most cost effective options is pretty stupid. I mean, of course you notice the differences when looking at comparisons, but they're really only small details. It's not like I constantly stop ingame just to soak in the textures and look at everything, 99% of the things I see in the game I only see while passing by and shit. And desu if you just play the game on the same settings, just with the textures lowered from high to med, it wouldn't change your overall impression from the game, how much fun you have etc etc. In my eyes it's just pointless to spend money for something that's nice to have at best and pointless/no benefit whatsoever at worst.

The only thing that I'm anal about is the resolution - anything below native looks mushy and horrible, and it can generally fuck the game up really bad if it scales badly with lower resolutions. Beyond that, I just can't be arsed about details because they're merely nice to have, but you get used to any kind of details level really fucking fast and then the effect is gone.

You're right about that, but the G4560 can be bought for virtually free. I can buy a G4560 for 50€ now, keep it for as long as it lasts, and then just buy a used 7700k in a few years for much cheaper and have a much more long-lasting PC for the same price as if I bought an expensive CPU now.

Especially since my disposable income is like 3k a year right now and will my wage will skyrocket to almost six figure numbers in 2-3 years, so it makes much more sense to save money now and buy a cheap option that will last me 2 years and saves me a lot of money rather than breaking the bank now and living like a peasant for 2 years even though I could make do with a cheap pc now and then just buy a good one once I have no money constraints. 1000€ now is much more money to me than 1000€ in 3 years

While good, I do think the 7700K will be irrelevant in a few years considering the latest announcements from both AMD and Intel. But obviously I can be completely wrong, I'm terrible at predictions.

Like I said, we just didn't have the same objectives, that's perfectly fine.
