Anyone legitimately impressed with how far frank has come since the BT deal. Compare last nights shows to some of the dross he was failing to make come off in previous years. Much better production values, building stars but not having them swamp the show, good lower level brawls to mean there's something worth watching if the main event turns out to be as one sided as yesterday.

He still has a ways to go but he's clearly putting a lot of effort in now and can concentrate on the boxing now he doesn't have to worry about the money

>When a reporter asked Arum if that meant “the days of HBO are coming to an end,” particularly as it pertains to Top Rank, an aggravated Arum launched into a tirade regarding the influence HBO and rival Showtime have within his industry.

>“That’s none of your f***ing business,” Arum said. “What the f*** are you talking about? HBO has done great for boxing. They’ve been very good to boxing. I have nothing bad to say about HBO, but they’re just a f***in’ network. That’s all they are. They don’t own the business of boxing. “And you may also wanna call up the guy over at Showtime and tell him the same thing. He don’t own boxing. He’s just a f***ing network that puts on stuff for their subscribers.”

>“Crawford’s gonna fight this summer,” Arum said. “If we can get the fight for the unification [against Indongo], that’s fine. But he’s gonna fight this summer. Now don’t ask me, ‘Did they give you a date?’ That’s yesterday’s news. I’m a f***in’ promoter and I’m gonna get a fight that people wanna see. I’m gonna put it on, on a date that I wanna put it on, and just wait.”

Imagine Eddie going off on Sky like that lol
>>
>>76067947
There are rumours that Arum has a deal with a subscription service like Netflix in the pipeline. That would be interesting
>>
>>76067947
>>76067977
>networks tell Arum to fuck off with his shitty overpriced mismatch PPVs nobody wants to buy
>ragequits and starts his own online service

I guess if it's at a reasonable price then fair enough, but they're too used to overcharging in the US
>>
>>76067947
He doesnt really have a deal with hbo though. But he definitely needs a something like gbp is doing with espn, having a regular schedule of lesser cards. He has a lots of decent/good fighters that would make good cards but hbo can only cover some because unless it's ppv or potential superstar value they dont care about boxing and they also have deals with other promoters.
>>

>>
>>76068632
He didn't insist on it, HBO rejected a doubleheader of Valdez vs Marriaga and Ramirez vs Hart

Yeah I am pissed I did not set it to record at home when over at friends watching it. Had I known what I was gonna see, I would have. I have been hoping a torrent gets uploaded as well. But this kid is amazing. From AZ, moved to Mexico at 16 so he could turn pro, form sparring partner for GGG, was only sparring partner that went 6 4min rounds with GGG and was fine afterwards. He will be youngest middleweight champ in boxing history.

http://www.boxingscene.com/rigondeaux-wants-124-rehydration-stip-lomachenko--93462

Summary:

1. Lomachenko called for the fight on instagram
2. Rigondeaux agreed and was ok with the split with the winner earning $1m.
3. Rigondeaux requested Lomachenko at 124lbs, and eventually 126lbs with a rehydration clause. Lomachenko didn't accept as he would be too drained at 124lbs (Loma was 132lbs in the Olympics 2012)
4. Rigondeaux ACCEPTED the 126lb fight with a rehydration clause of 137lbs.
5. Just as it was about to be finalised, Rigondeaux pulled out.
6. Rigondeaux first blamed it on money, then he comes clean and says it's about the weight. He wants Lomachenko at 124lbs KNOWING LOMA CAN'T MAKE THE WEIGHT.
7. Rigondeaux now states he will be willing to move up to 126lbs to fight a physically bigger guy than Lomachenko in Santa Cruz.

Too many articles with snippets to look through.

Thing is, Rigo said he could easily make 118. I doubt he'd fight Inoue if he moves up. He'll just be a one weight class champion.

A shoulder injury was the reason for the really long layoff between 2012 and 2013 (also longer than the period Rigo was inactive for) the 2 years he took off between 2013 and 2015 while still officially champion were more down to his legal troubles if I recall rightly. It's the WBA though, they just do whatever the fuck they feel like so you can't be too surprised.

>but still, even without deduction loma won

Just went to look for my scorecard on one of the forums out of interest because I'm pretty sure I didn't score it that way at all. Though I only saw it once and had only been watching boxing for about a year so perhaps I didn't know what I was seeing. This was mine without deductions, Loma was pretty bad until the last 3 rounds, his constant holding left him open to a lot of inside work which won Salido the rounds (below the belt or not). The first round was a bit of a swing round but I've no idea how you can give the fight to Loma with no deductions.

Salido vs Lomachenko

Salido 10-9 Loma
Salido 20-18 Loma
Salido 30-27 Loma
Salido 40-36 Loma
Salido 49-46 Loma
Salido 59-55 Loma
Salido 68-65 Loma
Salido 78-74 Loma
Salido 88-83 Loma
Salido 97-93 Loma

Canelo will back the fuck up the entire fight and throw his counters as usual and edge out a win by decision, even though his face will be worse for wear than GGG. He'll probably land less shots too. When you're 114-114 Mayweather and 117-111 Lara, you just don't lose decisions.

DLH will tell him to play it safe.
>>
>>76086457
this, unless Golovkin stops him, Canelo is winning the decision.
>>
>>76086457
Canelo has wooden feet lad, he's never shown anything remotely near the capability to be able to back up all fight. Just plods around slowly in straight lines.
>>
>>76084760
>before Usyk became a serial killer
>>
>>76086485
His defensive is phenomenal, and he weaves better than GGG. GGG just takes shots to the head and moves forward. Or he just has his gloves up and have shots glance off them.

I believe GGG can KO Canelo, but it really depends on how Canelo comes out to fight. If he plays it safe, he will win by decision. The onus is on GGG to use his great ring generalship to cut off the ring, corner Canelo, and blow him the fuck out.

This fight is so hype, man. I can't wait.
>>
>>76086570
Canelo's boxing is decent defensively, and he certainly has the hand speed and counter punching to keep GGG honest but his movement really isn't that great. He has zero chance of winning in a Jacobs like fashion imo which makes the fight all the more interesting imo. He's going to have to be active and he's going to have to be hitting GGG a lot to win.
>>
>>76083898
Good luck pal. Don't wait!

Styles make fights. I agree on the Jacobs vs. Canelo thing.

Jacobs will negate Canelo's weight advantage, and not only that, Jacobs will tower over Canelo as well.

I don't really know who else but Jacobs can beat Canelo. I would wager and guess Lemieux, but that leaf is a fat lazy fucker and would gas out in 4 rounds. Derevyanchenko and Koborov maybe? Still need to see more from them and other up and comers.

Wilder and Golovkins opposition are not comparable. Stop being a fucking retard for once in your life.

Mikey Garcia's resume are full of guys on the levels on Lemieux and nothing more. He has more fights against that level of opposition and that's it. In fact, I'd put Jacobs above everyone on Garcia's resume. Golovkin also was struggling and getting the shit beat out of him by guys like Roman Martinez either. Mikey has great power but at the end of the day he ko'd come forward brawlers while Golovkin put away tough competitors trying to survive.

>>
>>76095985
A belt is really a marketing tool more than anything else and none of them are inherently more valuable. Boxing fans complain about the multitude of belts - I am guilty of this myself - but it means more money for everybody and allows dangerous but unpopular guys like Luis Ortiz to achieve champion status without interfering with the kinds of fights that are good for the sport. It's kind of lame and confusing sometimes but it's really not as bad as it's made out to be.

The Ring Magazine belt and the lineal title are the only things to have any meaning, but even they have their issues. The other belts can be with the best fighter in the division or not depending on politics so are a lot more meaningless.

He said those were the 6 potential PPVs but there wouldn't be 6 because they couldn't promote all of that in a 4 month peroid. Brook vs Khan won't happen, if Brook wins he'll fight Thurman I think and if Brook loses Khan will go back to swerving it. They might not take both Canelo and Mayweather.

The fight began at 10:30, and it looked as if Sullivan was going to lose, especially after he vomited during the 44th round. But the champion got his second wind after that, and Kilrain's manager finally threw in the towel after the 75th round.

He said Degale vs Groves would do 600k and both Khan vs Brook and Mayweather vs Mcgregor 700k.

Mayweather vs Mcgregor, the most casual crossover event in history only doing 100k more than fucking Degale vs Groves LOL. He is severely underestimating Mcgregors appeal. He is Joshua x100 with his casual appeal. Can you imagine the social media presence this fight will have fight week when Conor is doing all of his shit talking? It will be enormous. >Michael Yormark, president and chief of branding & strategy for Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports, is particularly bothered by the shots Kovalev has taken at Ward through the former champion’s Twitter account.

>“I think some of the things that he has done, quite frankly, have been disgusting,” Yormark told BoxingScene.com. “I think [Kovalev’s actions] have been unprofessional. I don’t think there’s a place for that in boxing or, for that matter, in any sport. It’s one thing if you wanna attack an opponent as it relates to boxing, as it relates to what you think about the individual. But when you start to stoop to that level, and you start making racial comments, it’s, quite frankly, unacceptable and unprofessional and as I said, disgusting.”

>Russia’s Kovalev caused controversy last month, when he reposted a video meme of a fictitious conversation between him and Ward, in which Ward used the words “n*gga” and “f*ggot.” Kovalev quickly deleted the Tweet.

>He explained the following week during an interview posted on the “Behind The Gloves” YouTube channel that he reposted the meme because he thought it was funny. Kovalev also said he didn’t fully understand what the creator of the video was typing as Ward’s answers, which were quickly erased and replaced with respectful responses.

>While Kovalev’s English remains limited and occasionally could cause him to misinterpret the language, he posted what was widely viewed as a racist photo on Twitter in April 2015. In that photo, Kovalev referred to WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson as a monkey.

Thousands doesn't mean much when pay per view sales are measured in hundreds of thousands. Take McIlroy if you like, but in general Norns don't have as much other world class sport to follow as people in the rest of the country. Especially the working class lads who mostly follow football over here won't give 2 shits about Rory. Carl is their guy and fair enough that they support him, he's great. But he is not a mainstream British sports star.

Or if you'd like something more objective Frampton's PPV was by far the least successful of 2016 and smaller than both of this years by a mile too.

The only way casuals ever hear of a boxer in my experience is by taking part in a major UK pay per view or winning gold at the Olympics in my experience. Those are the only guys they've heard of and he's done neither. I'm clearly not going to convince you though so I'll drop it.

why hasn't George Groves become a meme yet?

I watched some of his interviews and the way he looks.

He is a total meme machine.
>>
>>76116669
He was awarded an MBE that got a lot of coverage, and even with the average ppvs against Quigg the actual tickets for that fight sold out in less than ten minutes as was the clamor for tickets.

One thing i always noted about Rigo is how he keeps his lead foot in position. It's so precise and consistant. When he moves he will put the foot back instantly. That sets up his whole game. I have never seen anybody mention it but when you see it you will notice it through out his fights.

he was all memed out when he go knocked out by Froch years ago
>>
lol just watched the undercard presser.

Lenroy Thomas - "Everyone has a plan until they get hit"

Dave Allen - "Ya well my plan is to get hit in the face and then bash you up anyway"

Pac was FOTY, but not OBE.

Case closed.

p-p-pls watch my fight, i'm trying to save boxing h-h-honest just forget that I unironically put on Canelo vs Khan and Canelo vs Smith and charged $60 for the privilege of watching

He's absolutely 100% right though.

>2017 is a bannter year for boxing

Ok good point agreeing with you so far oscar

>Joshua vs Klitschko
>Thurman vs Garcia
>Golovkin vs Jacobs

Still agreeing with you, great fights though Thurman Garcia was a little disappointing in the end

>Canelo vs Chavez

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA

Fuck off Oscar you self serving prick.
>>
>>76119277
Isn't it possible that the Mayweather vs McGregor circus could actually benefit the Canelo vs Golovkin fight with the eyes it will bring to the sport? I guess it's a risk if the Canelo fight comes after the Mayweather one, but if they can schedule it a week or two earlier then it should be fine right?
>>
>>76119277

He is shitting himself they're going to go head to head or within a week. If it happens within 2 weeks of each other Canelo vs Golovkin will do around 1 million and Mayweather vs McGregor will do 2 million
>>
>>76119277

it is a bad fight, and when a 40 year old Mayweather boxes McGregor to an easy UD, with maximal holding and "running" more fans will say:

"Boxing is dead, never buying a PPV again"

Kind of funny coming from Oscar, when he says we the fans, when he is a promoter.
>>
>>76119320
In general he is, still funny to watch him so desperate though considering some of politicking for money he's done in the past. Also the part about Canelo vs Chavez 'rejuvenating boxing' is hilarious too.
>>
>>76119329
Not with American prices and if they're within a couple of weeks of one another. I imagine they'll charge $99 for both over there, not many people will buy both if they're in the same month.
>>
>>76119329

there is no outcome in which boxing ends up looking good except if Floyd send Conor to the hospital in 30 seconds
>>
>>76119277
What a dope.

It is revealing though, seems to confirm the rumors that GBP is more or less dependent on Canelo. I still say he's got his eyes set on Canelo-Mayweather II.
