I hate how true this statement is. Even though there are obvious flaws in FM, the values used are much more realistic than most games, which just often use fake values for grind and unlock gameplay. The biggest drawback of FM in that regard is the weird mix of values, that change, like attendance, and values, that don't really change, like the size and scope of transfers. Or economies on the whole, which is very hard to implement, why I can understand the way it's implemented right now - but I'm still pissed about the whole Brexit fuckery, because it directly contradicts this game design choice. Even more enraging is that it can't be turned off - and every other country in the game doesn't change in the least.

I picked the Japanese team that start with a small deficit (which is gone after you sign a couple of sponsors). I had a shit first race because I didn't realise that the second tier competition I was doing didn't allow refuelling which made both my drivers massively angry. We happened to have some wonderkid reserve driver who I promoted and which caused my other driver to "go rogue" because I sacked his mate. Can't do any improvements to anything in my tier so I'm just hoping the kid becomes good enough to start winning races eventually so we can build up cash reserves and promote.

Depends of your rep, your league's rep, the price of your tickets, and the population in your area. I actually find it pretty unrealistic that Monaco consistently fills its stadium on big games for example.

Then you could have situations where you manage in shit countries with shit money, which have low attendances and where expanding the stadium or building a new one will consistently cost you more money than you'll recoup through ticket sales. Pic very much related.

I've noticed the top teams in national league conceded a lot from crosses. I'm basically planning to get the ball out to the winger who bursts forward, puts a high ball in which is headed past the garbage keepers by my striker.

What changes will I want before I start the learning? Should crosses go at the TM or the centre?

Well lads,

Should I cash in on him now? He's got all the biggest clubs chasing after him and he's refused to even enter contract negotiations for almost a year and a half. I've pissed him off a few times in there too. This is probably the last window I can get max dollar for him based on his contract.

The downside is he's basically my only good youth product, one of my only HG players, and there's no way the player I buy to replace him will be as good. He's got a really good personality and he's developed at an extremely rapid clip.

2bh, IWBs are designed to exploit the most problematic thing about the 17 ME: the acres of space between the CMs/DMs and the wide midielders/attacking midfielders. It's pretty uncanny.

I think narrow is key with that back 5. Your IWBs almost end up acting like wide midfielders, and it makes it really easy to overwhelm the opposition in the midfield. Once you make it into the opponent's half, the IWBs get really far forward and in combination with your AM and striker you've already got even numbers with the opponent's back line. By playing narrow your midfielders are given more opportunities to play through balls into the box because your IWBs occupy defenders that would normally be paying attention to the striker and AM. Your CM(A)s will push up too, adding to the struggle for the back line of the AI.

It's a good enough formation on the match engine that I'm sure it will work playing on wide, but I still think it's more effective playing narrow, regardless of opponent.

Here's what I mean about their positioning. That's pretty much where they sit during possession and it really fucks with the AI trying to account for all of the potential runs in on goal your team could make while your midfielders pass the ball around.

It's mostly because I just won the league, "unexpectedly" qualified for the group stages of CL and managed to finish third, and had a very, very low original transfer budget. My iverall squad has pretty low wages too, with a load of players that are near the ned of their contract and/or need to be replaced. If I had asked for new facilities or a bigger stadium, the board would've been more likely to refuse or they would've given me much less.

"The" instruction I remove when I play a better team but that I want to win. In FM, Possession is the time you spend on the ball. IRL for OPTA, it's linked to the number of passes. So basically, for me in FM, high possession with barely any shots means that your team is wasting time on the ball. Good when you're late in the match and don't want to concede I suppose.

C'mon, be realistic: I play with snowflake formations quite often, there's no AI that can possibly have the same formation as the one I use. You should know it by now that the AI has no flexibility. The closest would be the 5-4-1 Diamond WB at best.
