Why would you want to blow your entire budget on a player that doesn't improve you?

The point is moot anyway because he's not coming. Really wish people would stop giving credence to the shit the 16 year olds the tabloids pay less than minimum wage to come up with transfer rumours make up
>>
>>64714873
Aubameyang is the player Walcott wanted to be when he said he wanted to play as main striker. The truth is that Walcott is not bad as a Striker, but he belongs in the wings. Aubameyang is literally Walcott, The Striker Version.
An attacking force with Sanchez, Walcott and Aubameyang would be scary to play against.

I don't think he's coming, tho. I agree on that one with you. I don't think anyone besides Elneny is coming. Im having a hard time believing Wenger will start popping out signings now.

What are the chances pep will be our manager next season?

Imo this is too big of an opportunity to let slip. We are most likely going to win the title now since historically the second half of the season is when we actually get going (and end up going from 8th to 4th lol). Maybe a final league title and a 3rd fa cup in 3 years should be wengers goodbye gift to all the fans. Guardiola can take arsenal to new highs.
>>
>>64714873

Well he's taller, faster, a better finisher and also versatile enough to cover three positions. Girpoo is our only out and out striker anyway. Agreed that he's probably too expensive.
>>
>>64715998
>What are the chances pep will be our manager next season?

I'd say zero. It's a public secret that he'll go to City. They have former Barca staff, money and the academy. They just want to give Pellegrini peace to finish the season well.
>>
>>64715998
he'd fit the role well but does worry me that there's a possibility of him leaving within 2-3 years. He has everything he wants and needs at City though, that move makes more sense.

I also don't think Wenger will call it quits, I think he has another 2 years in him.

all in all, I'd say there's a 15% chance of Guardiola managing Arsenal

He's going to City. Pep does not take on difficult jobs. Between the challenge of taking Arsenal to silverware and the "challenge" of doing the same with unlimited budget at City it's clear which one Poop will pick.

>>
On Fribourg…

“I arrived at this European club, we were playing to stay up, and I only played 16 matches. They had brought me in to play left midfield or right midfield and that wasn’t my position… But I worked very hard physically over there. Like never before. 12km run, powering through in the forest and in the afternoon interval training. Or 12 times 1000m, on the banks of the river.

“It is very strict, very thorough in Germany. After training, you were forced to stay back for one hour to work on muscles, to recuperate. You work. Since then, I have never been injured. In France, youngsters think they’ve already made it far too early.”

To be honest, if we don't get a manager like Pep or Ancelotti then we're fucked. And we already know we're not getting either of them.

Do you think the Arsenal board knows anything about choosing a manager? They've never had to worry about it at all and I don't trust them at all.
I want Wenger out too but he's only got one year left on his contract. Even if we don't win anything this year he should still be allowed to see it out.

Disgusting. I knew this thread was autism personified, but fuck sake. As a City fan, I'm sick of people wanting to change managers cause of the "meme" that it means something. Despite factual, objective, literal, evidence saying changing managers doesn't mean success.

And I agree with you in general, just not in the case of Arsenal. Changing manager will mean a hell of a lot.

It only means a lot cause Wenger is pretty successful and has a legacy. But changing him won't mean immediate success than WOB's think. In their mind, Klopp will be auto winning everything cause he's new.
>>
>>64717497
I don't think anyone is really expecting immediate success. It's just things have been the same for far too long so they feel that a change is needed. And with a club like Arsenal, a good manager would definitely succeed.

Wilshere IS a better passer than Ramsey. Anyone who watched him last year for England will tell you the same.

>wenger to blame for his player being unlucky in a 50/50 challenge

>>
>>64718187
Wilshere can pull off great long passes and does so well
Ramsey still has superior vision and more creativity
>>
>>64718212
That's still arguable. Most of the 'creative' passes Ramsey tries never come off for him.

One of my favourites. But yeah, I'd say Wilshere is a better passer overall compared to Ramsey.
>>
>>64718230
I'd agree with you, it's all very arguable
It's just that people seem so determined to rate Wilshere to be the best player on earth(and of course miles better than Ramsey), but when he actually comes back and they see him play again, their opinion of him drops very quickly.
>>
>>64718251
>It's just that people seem so determined to rate Wilshere to be the best player on earth(and of course miles better than Ramsey), but when he actually comes back and they see him play again, their opinion of him drops very quickly.
It's the opposite. Everyone calls Wilshere shit because they haven't seen him play for so long and forgot how good he actually is.

The posts praising Wilshere are probably all me 2bh

>>
>>64718266
I don't need to watch compilation videos, I've watched both players for years and I'd maintain Wilshere is a better passer overall to Ramsey. He's technically vastly superior.
>>
>>64718266
For every 1 of those long range pings there's 5 eye of the needle or cheeky chipped passes that never come off.
Wilshere has the same range of passing and is more consistent with his passing, which makes him the better passer.
>>

Lads, I've just realised this is futile
I have more important stuff to do anyway
Let's just hope both of you are right and Wilshere really is as great as you think when he comes back, I still won't believe you
When I think of Wilshere playing, he's just as frustrating to me as Ramsey, with the constant running into people and getting himself hurt

How can anyone say Ramsey is good as passing when he LITERALLY got dominated by a midfield of Jack Colback and Tiote?

Ramsey has never controlled a game with his passing. He isn't bad but Wilshere is far better.
>>
>>64718448
you're not wrong lad
>>
>>64718433
His first touch can be godly as well
He's just very inconsistent in basically everything but his movement(and not even that is very consistent, he'll have games were he'll be offside more times than you can count on one hand)

>>64718448
look, Wilshere is very very good in the Pirlo sense of passing
Ramsey is better in the intricate, creative Özil sense of passing

I can't ever think of a single Wilshere pass that literally wowed me like the one Ramsey made against Southampton

Alexis Sanchez ain't a rat faced pooft like Di Maria, here's how:

Not having is house robbed, his and his families sense of personal safety violated and leaving Real Madrid, on questionable terms. Sanchez was more like fuck these cunts, not giving me time to play. Oi, Oi Arsene, sign me up, I'm the craziest mad-dog you've seen in your life and I'll smash bangers left, right and centre. Sort it aaat! Then Arsene was like, I'm down, let's do dis ting! Now Alexis, lives in an absolute mansion, plays piano all day and runs around with his dog. And that's all there was to it senpai. roadman know roadman tings innit

Cazorla is a better passer than Ramsey as well. Arteta is a fucking better passer than Ramsey, dude is actually quite sloppy with his stuff, someone like Wilshere is much more of a natural in that regard.

Yeah. Ramsey's strength isn't his passing abilities but his work rate.

I feel like it's just going to be Flamini and Ramsey because we've got no one else. If Debuchy wasn't leaving then he could play RB with Chambers playing CM so at least one of Ram/Flam could rest.

Personally I want to see Crowley play though. Crowley and Flamini starting and then Arteta coming on for Flamini after an hour when we're 3-0 up would be perfect, but I don't know what to expect.

lads, >the sun is reporting that the "stars" at manchester united think simeone is going to be their manager next season!

is this a nightmare scenario akin to pep setting up shop @ city? would we fear simeone getting to manage a manutd squad that currently has enough class to be a ~top-4/CL side, but of course is subject to another 150-300mil+ shopping spree (while manutd fans pretend that post-SAF they're still "more" than a merc/$$$ squad?) and etc

>pep to city
>simeone to united
>klopp gets to $$$pend/recruit
>chelsea definitely going to spend no matter who manages

and oh yeah spurs are supposed to have a shot at the league this year, let alone in the future, especially if they're able to keep harry kane around.

http://metro.co.uk/2015/12/29/7-reasons-why-arsenal-should-re-sign-chelseas-cesc-fabregas-5589506/

ah well, when that doesnt happen (not that i want it to happen anyways) i can kick back and enjoy my >metro arsenal stories about signing isco for 36mil, being "all in" for aubameyang (>daily mail has >us bidding 44.6mil but supposedly dortmund wants 60mil. ha) and god knows what other shit they'll pull out of their arse for clicks.

>>64745504

that was said supremely sarcastically; you did the lord's work greentexting it for me....

but yeah, i keep my fingers on the pulse of the UK rag scene via the daily mail and a cpl weeks ago they had a few articles about "why not spurs?" for the PL this year, so that was good for a laugh.

spurs are a pretty solid side who are currently about as good as you can reasonably expect them to be, but i don't see them kicking it up into a higher gear or 2 and suddenly making a push for ~90pts and thus the prem. unminded gaps go against the whole spirit of st. totteringham's day!

How will Spurs pay for their stadium?

Wenger out if they manage it without a decade of no signings and losing best players.
>>
>>64745662
I'm actually genuinely interested in the difference of money we earned from qualifying for the CL for a decade and how much a club would get for just staying in the league in the next decade (especially since the new TV deal and subsequent deals will be astronomical)
>>
>>64745662

The current financial climate in football is a lot more forgiving than it was when we built the stadium. Spurs will be in a much better position to absorb the cost of a new stadium than we were a decade ago because of the ridiculously inflated TV and commercial deals floating around the game right now.
>>
>>64745662
>>64745724
The stronger EPL tv deals will help them out a lot but they'll still suffer short term. But they don't have a massive net spend at the moment do they? Thing is that it was very hard for us to maintain title relevance and even CL qualification but to maintain finished between 5th and 10th or whatever shouldn't be as hard. Easier to do that while keeping net transfer spends in the black than finishing top 4.

Basically with good management they shouldn't slide too much although if they have one bad season for whatever reason it may be tough to reverse
>>
>>64745662
>losing best players.

They lose their best players regardless.
>>
>>64745596

i think pep would come to arsenal in a heartbeat (the most desirable football gig in london) but idk if there's a thing where he'd be willing to wait for wenger or if wenger actually wants to go after this year or next and it'd mesh with pep's timetable

if it's a thing where wenger would have to step down because you have to accomodate pep and his desires then that's not happening.

would arsene bolt if he won the PL? i'm thinking that'd compel him to stick around and try for the CL, cuz i could see him calling it a career at arsenal if he finally got the CL.... otherwise *shrug*
>>
>>64748278
No point even considering it lad.
>>
>>64748309

yeah i'm far from asspained about trying to dream about pepsenal (assuming that when >you pep now thats when you splash the cash to get whatever the fuck you need to max out your squad cuz with pep you have a 3-4 year window to get your winning on and thats what you do)

honestly i can see wenger doing another 5-10yrs, especially if the $$$ stays right and arsenal can keep on adding guys like ozil+sanchez every few years. maybe he bolts after winning a CL, otherwise i can see him wanting to have a ~5+ year run with upwards of 2-3 prems to wash off the relative-stink of the trophy-free-era.

and i'm quite good with that because not only is arsene all i know, but i'm pretty damn sure you can do much much worse than arsene wenger.
>>
>>64748384
It really is all down to Wenger. He's the manager as long as he wants to be.

>but i'm pretty damn sure you can do much much worse than arsene wenger.
You're not wrong at all, but as long as we're not winning the PL or CL there will always be people who think we can also do better than Arsene Wenger. And they could be right but we'll never know.

What are the strangest pranks and initiation ceremonies you’ve witnessed in a football changing room?
TSF: These days, initiation ceremonies are only really done the first time a youngster travels with the squad to an away game. He'll usually have to sing at the hotel after dinner after serving the management team coffee for the length of the trip. But a few years ago, it was horrendous. These young players would be completely abused by the alpha males in the squad.
My friend, who played for another club as a youngster, had a broom handle shoved up his arse and was made to run around the pitch twice while singing a song. I forget what it was. It was some kind of play on being a "sweeper", I believe.
Looking back, it was totally horrific. And it was common practice, too. Thankfully, it's disappeared from the game today.
>>
>>64749085
I know Theo had to sing for his. Some of the other lads probably did too.

i was actually thinking "stockholm syndrome" when i was typing out "you can do much much worse than arsene wenger" --- but seeing as there's two sides to everything (yin/yang and all) i'd rather stick with the frenchman i know than potentially canning him circa 2010 and then AVB's downward spiral actually kicks in and takes hold and next thing you know >we drop a notch or two below >4th place trophies and we have somebody like le pardeux coaching the squad nowadays.

it's a tricky situation to be sure, however i do genuinely believe that arsene has genuinely improved the squad over the last ~2-3yrs and 2015-16 arsenal is significantly better than what you had in, say, 2012-13 arsenal.

now whether or not they win any major/proper trophies remains to be seen... even a noticeably better arsenal squad is still prone to mental midgetude and the injuries that manifest themselves with that annual oh-so-arsenal underachieving, but only to the point that they'll never allow themselves to slip out of the top tier of english football.

seriously, while there has to be some credit given for never pulling a liverpool, at the same time they SHOULD be achieving more, especially with this side arsene's built over the last season and a half.

you could say THE GAME IS ABOUT GLORY, but then again that's easy to say when you're trying to convince your sad sack fans that you're doing anything other than getting ready to fuck off to milton-keynes for a few years having once again minded the gap.

Boy! Such a reputable source. I dunno, maybe if there was a newspaper or something that said the opposite!

http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/arsenal-injury-news-alexis-sanchez-facing-race-against-time-to-be-fit-for-liverpool-trip-a3151176.html

OH SHIT SON.

>>64750852
Why the fuck do you care, shitposter-kun? You said Debuchy is shit. Also, why the fuck are you taking what a blog says seriously when fucking national newspaper say the fucking opposite?

Oh, right, shitposter.

>Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was hoping forward Alexis Sanchez's comeback from a hamstring injury could come in Saturday's FA Cup tie against Sunderland, but the 27 year old's return has been put back until the league game at Liverpool five days later.

wenger said it in his presser an hour or two ago
that article is a day old

If Debuchy leaves the only cover for Bellerin would be Chambers and even if Debuchy was shit this season there is still a bigger chance of him not being totally useless than Chambers suddenly turning into a decent RB.

Chambers is better than Debuchy.
>>
>>64750961
You're probably right. Debuchy can't into defensive positioning at all.
>>
>>64750980

But he's faster and less prone to errors. At least with a couple of games under his belt. Chambers' future is in a central position.
>>
>>64750988
On last season's form I would agree with you. Debuchy was mostly fine when he wasn't injured

But this season his attitude has clearly been awful since every time he got to play he looked disinterested. Caught horribly out of position every game - not just too high up the pitch but in fucking central midfield. One poor performance I can forgive but every game he's played he's been awful and I don't think he's going to improve. So while on paper he's good depth we may as well just get rid because he's not doing anything positive in actuality.

Wouldn't mind trying to get Jenko back or something though. Give them Debuchy instead and pay the difference in their wages? Jenkinson is definitely a more natural fit for the role than Chambers and at least you know he'll fucking try
>>
>>64751004

Jenkinson has been pretty shit this season though. And he doesn't even have excuses as (former) first choice in a decent back four.

The prodigal son is coming home lads
>>
>>64751016
He was so consistent last season and at the very start of this season though. I'll admit his form has turn to shit recently, but I still have faith in him.
>>
>Release Afobe for free
>Buy Welbeck for £16m

WONGA TRANSFER GENIUS
>>
>>64751233
Afobe wasn't released, he was sold
Pretty sure we have buyback and sell-on clauses as well
>>
>>64751289
Afobe favourited a tweet saying there's a buyback clause when he was first sold iirc. But that's the only time one's been mentioned and Wenger would never buy him back anyway.
>>
>>64751297
I think those sorts of clauses are just standard when a young player is moved on like that. We won't buy him back but we might make some money if/when he's sold
>>
>>64751289
He was sold for nearly nothing.
>>
>>64751233

If you genuinely miss Afobe you might as well sign whoever is conference top scorer. Any comparison to Welbeck is beyond retarded to begin with.
>>
>>64751322
Afobe scored 2 against United and was destroying League 1 before Arsenal sold him.

Meanwhile Welbeck couldn't score against MK Dons.
>>
>>64751333

Everybody scores against United. Welbz isn't my favourite by a stretch either but he is very simply the better player.
>>
Sam @samuelJayC
Wenger says Alexis is out of next 2 games, Welbeck is 3 weeks away, Rosicky is back in full training next week. No interest in Deeney. #afc

Sam @samuelJayC
Arsenal hope to complete Elneny deal by Monday, Wenger confirms. Says he may not be the only signing. #afc
>>
>>64751360
He really isn't. Last season he faced 3 Championship sides and 1 League 1 side.

He failed to score or assist against any of them. Playing for 2 of the best teams in Europe.

WENGERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
>>
Just signed for Arsenal lads.
>>
>>64751333
It's not fair to compare Welbeck to strikers that can score goals. He's in the category with Altidore, Connor Wickham and guys like that. Basically just shit players.

confirmed
Im going to be really mad if this one happens tho.

>8 days in
>still no signings
Didn't Wonga say he was gonna do business early in the window?
>>
>>64751395

Afobe wouldn't have done any better for either United or Arsenal, let alone England. I agree that Welbeck underperforms considering his price but you can't just pick goal scoring meme players from lower leages and claim they have more potential.
>>
>>64751423

Hello my Finnish friend

What is your favourite Kaurismaki film???
>>
>>64751423
If they have the potential to score goals they already have more potential as a striker than Welbz.
>>
on Mohamed Elneny…
It is complicated a little bit but we are working hard on it and hopefully in the next two or three days we will get to the end of it.

on whether Elneny will be the only signing…
The only one? I don’t rule out anyone else, but he will be at least one signing that comes into an area where we are short at the moment.

>>64751405
Just the thought of it is making me mad
>>
>>64751423
You think Welbeck has ability because he plays for a good team. You think Afobe is bad because he plays for bad teams.
>>
Is it back to getting Benzema this summer now that Auvameyang ruled out a move? Or will Zidane keep him?
>>
>>64751443

Not quite but that's a good comeback so I won't pursue this issue.

>>64751438

Unfortunately I haven't seen any. I hear he has influenced Jarmusch though.
>>
>>64751463
Don't see why Zidane would sell him and who would replace him
>>
>>64751463
why is arsenal obsessed with benzema? he's been underwhelming at halal since he came, most of their fans would get rid of him if they could and is not exactly a great scorer and already 28. It really is a puzzling choice for a team that needs a great scorer
>>
>>64751492

It's just media consensus that he's the guy with the biggest reputation who might even consider joining >us. Tabloid feed, nothing else m9.
>>
>>64751492
There aren't any great goalscorers available on the market.
>>
>>64751502
ah, ok, it's just that his name always comes up in arsenal transfers and I'd say they need a hardcore scorer rather than whatever benzema is
>>
>>64751467

I bet you don't even like salmiakki

Finboo pls go. Best salmiakki is swedish btw.

I guess that's something in common with Wonga, and that he's also a pedo
