AP Poll Out:
1. Florida State (46)
2. Alabama (1)
3. Oregon (5)
4. Oklahoma (2)
6. Georgia (2)
7. Michigan State
8. Ohio State
9. Texas A&M (2 LEL!)
12. LSU (1 LELELEEL!!!)
16. Notre Dame
17. Arizona State
20. Kansas State
21. South Carolina
21. North Carolina
The SEC kool aid is as strong as ever.
Some voters straight up need to be executed.
Why does A&M shoot up to 9 after beating a South Carolina team that is now considered 21?
Why does Georgia shoot up to 6 with 2 idiots giving them #1 votes after beating a Clemson team now considered 23?
They clearly do not have much respect for their opponents now.
Why would they have enough respect to jump them up that high, over many teams that also played and beat their opponents.
This isn't consistent.
South Carolina and Clemson are giving them respect because of a preseason poll??? Nobody knows how good either one will actually be.
Thank god the polls are meaningless but hopefully these idiots don't influence the playoff committee.
I take it you didn't watch the entire game
The AP poll worked in the years before national media hype and social media. When journalists actually tried to come up with their own opinions and not going into one big group think mockery as we have now.
National media hype and social media stupidity has killed the AP poll and sports journalism entirely.
post your face when the Nebraska Cornhuskers lose less than 4 games and the cycle is broken.
College Sports in general is fucked up, if my city had an NFL team I'd give two shits about this borderline slavery.
But besides that I don't get how FSU loses by less than a touchdown to an unranked opponent and is almost the unanimous number one
The general rule to being #1, especially when you're the defending champ, is "don't lose, you stay there".
Besides, who looked convincing enough to top them? Alabama with their 10 point win over a cellar-dweller? Oregon or Michigan State with their wins over FCS opponents? The only team in spitting distance to overtake FSU was Oklahoma, and beating up on LT wasn't near good enough to make them #1.
>Orange County born and raised
>Buffalo @ Army this weekend
I've never had a conflict like this. How does one handle such a scenario?
>Not supporting the Army
What kind of wealthy conservative are you?
>Pundits naysaying Ohio State because they gave up 370 rushing yards
Against a team that almost exclusively runs the triple option. Against a team that executes the triple option so well they've posted one losing season in the last 12 years with it. Against a team with two total completions and 20 total passing yards.
Is it that hard to comprehend that when a team exists to solely run one scheme, and they run it to near perfection, that of course they're gonna pile on one type of yardage?
>SEC haters are so desperate that they count close wins as losses
How can one conference be so based?
>But besides that I don't get how FSU loses by less than a touchdown to an unranked opponent and is almost the unanimous number one
But we won, and it was against a solid team that was in a big bowl last year.
You ready for Baylor to tear that ass apart in a couple weeks?
I know some guys on the team and told them about you. They are going to beat Buffalo double hard now just for you. As you watch your team get blown apart know that things are getting worse as a personal message sent to you and nobody else, directly at you.
Such a stupid trip too.
Baylor should never play a road game at a glorified high school like this.
>Okie State is a solid team
only in comparison to the rest of your powderpuff schedule
You can't talk shit to a fanbase that has zero expectations.
how kind of you to say that
>No first place vote for Auburn
How fucking delusion are people to think we aren't the best team in the nation? Because we give up a lot of points on D? What a fucking joke. We literally have an unstoppable offense, on the ground and through the air. For fuck sack we have 4-5 guys alone on our offense that could win the Heisman. Is there any doubt that Auburn will win it all this year? The AP is such fucking shit.
I fucking knew this was coming. Two things:
1. Marshall only played a half
2. We ran the clock down and ended the game on Arkansas 10 and would have definitely scored another TD.
Arkansas is actually a pretty solid team this year btw
Better than the nigger sims
I don't ask for much. I understand that Bama has to play a bunch of chimps at the fast positions but we need a fucking cerebral QB and niggers aint cerebral
>most experienced O-lineman done for the season
>ash's brain has officially turned to jelly
This season is going to be ugly.
>mfw local sports radio host this morning suggests the Big XII take in one of the non-pac 12 california schools to establish a presence on the west coast
Navy has a history of taking down high ranking teams, and it's not like we were the only ones slumping this past weekend. It's the first game, things are rusty.
Did you see the difference between the first half and the second half? Our young guys were really starting to settle in and get a feel for the game, including JT Barrett. We're only going to get better as the season wears on.
I have a feeling we'll be seeing Coker sooner than later
I think they're holding him out of the starting QB position because (a) Sims earned his shot and it's his position to lose, and (b) his skill at reading defenses isn't quite where Saban wants it.
also think he would have played against WVU late if they'd established a more comfortable lead
Personally, my biggest concern with the team is the piss-poor play of the secondary.
Don't recall anything about being in trouble, there was just a shitload of speculation in the local media because Saban didn't reveal who the starter would be until 48 hours before the WVU game
and yeah, Sims' throwing on the run was terribad---the game is replaying on the SEC network as we speak
I'm not nearly as worried about the defense as I was last year. I'm confident that the secondary will be much improved simply from the move to man coverage. The only hole I can see on it is middle linebacker. There's a lot of really good young talent on this team especially at all the skill positions.
I have decided it's better to let them starve
what discussion is this alluding to, I've argued way too much on here
Yeah, that cancer Roby is finally gone. We're gonna miss Hyde but the committee will still do work, and the D could be all around solid, starting at the line, which is critical
My observation is that, for whatever reason, Auburn only tries as much as it has to. Think 2010: best team in the nation, yet beat three unranked opponents by 3 points. Or 2013: few if any blowouts. It's hard to vote for a team that refuses to win by more than a few points, which is why it took so long for them to get into the polls.
>Put up 780 yards on a C-USA team
>Hold them to 125 yards after the first drive
>Wisconsin looks like a one dimensional team with stone-handed WRs that run like John Elway
>Iowa struggled with an FCS team
>Northwestern shat the bed against California
>Still have the nagging feeling that we'll lose 4 regardless this year
Sucks being a Nebraska fan
They're lucky to be that high. They lost a lot of talent and talent is really all that matters in polls this early on.
It's stupid for people to get upset over these when there are idiots on this poll that considered Baylor the #2 team in the country.
>control the media
hahaha r u srs?! everyone in Bristol is obsessed with Ohio State and Notre Dame. all we heard all offseason was how the Pac whatever is stronger than the SEC, too.
but after the SEC kicked ass in week 1, as usual (other than Vandy which doesn't even have an athletic dept so who cares), what else could they do? it's not like the AP is made up of voters exclusively from the SE...
Georgia ended the game taking a knee around Clemson's 5, too.
Arkansas didn't win a game in conf last season so how can you say they're pretty solid, the polls are literally meaningless nowadays anyway so calm down buddy, it'll all get sorted out on the field.
Just because they decided to cash in and have the SEC network doesn't mean they don't still support their same ol media darlings from yesteryear. Lou Holthz is still prattling on about Notre Dame in primetime, and if you wanted the B1G to get a little more respect after week one, maybe they should have been able to hold onto a 3 TD lead against what will likely end up a 4th or 5th place SEC team.
>You can't talk shit to a fanbase that has zero expectations.
Amen to that.
I know this sentiment as well.
I used to post on some SEC boards, the complex USMfags had towards the other shitty Mississippi schools was astounding.
>hurr durr you're so scared to play us
>anyone anywhere anytime
>SEC is so overrated zomg
every. fuckin. day.
that scoreline drew a slight smile from me.
Did we dazzle people? No. Meyer's an idiot for thinking that a redshirt freshman with lead feet could run, and I have no idea how Fickell is still employed.
Was it worth dropping three spots when we doubled up on our opponent? No. Especially when the rule of being in the Top 5 is usually "don't lose and you stay put".
>tfw your school has the best QB in the country and the future GOAT QB
Can we all agree that if your college isn't on the map you can't watch cfb?
meh, Clemson should be alright. It's only the ACC after all, and that game was close until Richt & Bobo decided to stop playing full retard. i was a bit underwhelmed with your supposed vaunted defensive front 7 however, but then again they were out there the entire 2nd half, in a loud, hostile environment, in 90+ degree heat & humidity.
Pruitt just has Morris' number for whatever reason, but at least he's not at FSU anymore so you have that to look forward to, they hardly looked like worldbeaters last weekend
1. Florida State
5. Michigan State
6. Ohio State
8. Notre Dame
13. Ole Miss
14. Arizona State
18. Kansas State
22. Penn State
24. Western Kentucky
25. Boston College
Also, in the AP Poll, North Dakota State got votes.
That military academy has cranked out 11 winning seasons in the past 12 years. Navy is the best at what they do in the triple option. So dismissing it "lel it's only Navy" is ridiculous.
You didn't answer the most important question: how many first place votes does LSU get?
Georgia Tech/Southern run that garbage too, and how they don't get called for cut & chop blocks every other play is beyond me, it should be outlawed for those "blocking" methods alone.
>1st place vote
>on rankings twice
>yfw 07 all over again and LSU trolls it's way into the Championship game
>it's supposed to rain again in Gainesville on Saturday
Not again. I am not a fan in all kinds of weather.
Just rewatched the Georgia/Clemson game and I've decided that Georgia is going to win the national championship this year. Their defense is unbelievably dominant (thanks to their new Defensive Coordinator they poached from FSU) and with all those RBs their offense can wear out any other defense in the country and score at will. having Gurley and Chubb on the team is like having 2 hershall walkers.
GOAT 19 year old
All other schools are jealous they don't have a taller Tom Brady leading their team
Georgiafag here, I REALLY wish everybody would slow down with this shit, as we never live up to expectations when expectations, and ESPN has been sucking our dick nonstop the last 2 days hardcore.
Yes, our RB corps is stacked, yes, we have a beastly Def Front 7. But the latter didn't bother showing up in the 1st half, Richt & Bobo didn't bother utilizing the former properly in the 1st half either, our secondary is green as fuck, half our receivers are still out injured and who knows how Mason will look and progress over the course of the season. I mean it was just one game, at home. I was surprised how the OL dominated but part of that was Clemson's D being on the field the ENTIRE 2nd half.
Sure, there is reason for optimism, as long as it's cautious, but that old faggot calling into Finebaum talking about a return to 1980-83, ugh. Embarrassing.
>being this good
>at 18 years old
>as 25pt underdog
Hack is the best QB adjusted for age in all of college football
Still, it's not like everyone's significantly older than he is.
>Consistently giving teams a hard time
Navy is the best spoiler in college football, and they will be top 25 this year and there's NOTHING you can do about it.
I've never seen anyone dickride Navy so hard on this board before, that's the only impressive thing regarding them in the history of /sp/. Congrats cadet!
they probably are but they were beyond lucky last year and people don't respect a magical season based on luck and randomness. they were the luckiest team i've seen since 02 ohio st and 03 lsu, although basically all of Les Miles' teams have been lucky with most of his horseshit calls
Feels good guys
Our OLine looked okay all things considered in the first game. I'm praying to the football gods that everything holds up and we get Dieffenbach back for B1G games (Rutgers doesn't count).
Speaking of Rutgers, I can't wait to shit all over them. Hack and all the WRs are going to have a field day against that secondary.
>basing this season on last season
>Bama getting BTFO by AU special teams + OU in last two games
Eh he deserves more credit than he gets on /sp/, but his wideouts looked really good.
Goff is the GOAT sophmore qb though
>MSU #7 if they beat Oregon they might m ake top 4
>If Michigan stomps ND they get an auto spot in the ranking because Notre Dame is always good even when they aren't logic
The Time of the Mitten is upon us prepare for some rhythmic slapping.
Give me 1 reason why we won't have a 10 win season this year.
Muschamp performs or he's fired this year and we'll get a better coach. It's that simple. We're in the top 3 for best job in college football.
>young, naturally hot girls everywhere
>take a picture of some skank with a bad weave and concrete tits
College is when you appreciate the natural girls before their bodies start betraying them and they have to resort to surgery. That faggot is missing the whole point.
Depends. If we beat Alabama, LSU, South Carolina, Georgia, and Missouri (assuming three are still in the top 10 and the other two in the top 25), but lose to the #1 ranked team (and it's not a blowout). Then it would be tough for the committee to decide, IMO. We would have gone 3-1 in top 10 matches.
Everyone is trashing Blake Sims and all he did was have a record setting performance.
>Alabama quarterback Blake Sims had a record-breaking debut vs. West Virginia. Sims, who finished the game by connecting on 24-of-33 passed for 250 yards, secured the school record for most completions and attempts of any quarterback in a debut game at Alabama.
Besides some ill timed throws (the INT and a few throws on the run) and his 2nd quarter confusion (which was fixed when they went up tempo), he was really really solid. One thing people don't seem to be appreciating is that he's been able to do something that none of the QBs at Alabama have been able to do: escape the pocket when theres pressure.
There were multiple plays that he extended by being elusive which AJ or whoever would have simply threw the ball away or taken the sack.
Blake Sims is undervalued.
Idk man, I looks better than last year. Georgia looks up, TAMU looks somewhat intimidating(so far), Bama needs a little work but Saban will sort it out, Florida will probably be decent and Aubarn will have another solid year.
>Teams deserving of a ranking higher than Michigan State:
>Teams ranked higher than MSU that shouldn't be:
Although, Georgia should be very close to MSU. But Oklahoma should be below Georgia, how far? I don't know or care enough to get that detailed.
Lol, I remember, I was one of them. That shit was fun while it lasted.
Because you guys will be overlooking us since you play Bama the week after. We'll have a game more experience and we'll catch you sleeping.
>9 of the 11 teams on their schedule have more wins than them right now.
Auburn 40, WSU 14 (Auburn)
LSU 43, Arizona 3 (Baton Rouge)
Tennessee 35, Cal 18 (Knoxville)
USC 50, Arkansas 14 (Fayetteville)
Cal 45, Tennessee 31 (Berkeley)
UCLA 27, Tennessee 24 (Pasadena)
Georgia 27, ASU 10 (Tempe)
UCLA 19, Tennessee 15 (Knoxville)
Georgia 20, ASU 17 (Athens)
LSU 31, Washington 23 (Seattle)
Oregon 48, Tennessee 13 (Knoxville)
Auburn 22, Oregon 19 (BCS championship)
LSU 40, Oregon 27 (Arlington)
LSU 41, Washington 3 (Baton Rouge)
The only team your conference can beat is fucking Tennessee, who is probably the worst team in the SEC except for Kentucky.
>all this herd mentality
Look for USC on that list:
50 - 14
jesus what an embarrassment. no wonder you left out 2005:
Nope, that's not a typo.
Oh ya, if you go back a couple more years, you get 23-0 over Auburn and 24-17 over Auburn.
I dgaf about the pac-12. Only retards care about MUH CONFERENCE PRIDE.
tll;dr SEC fans are a disgrace
>y-your conference sucks!
Yeah, but your conference has only beat one team in the SEC in the last 10 years
>only idiots care about conferences! my conference beat yours 10 years ago!
I honestly don't give a shit about conference solidarity and I certainly don't give a shit about the SEC, but your team and every relevant team in your conference has gotten their shit kicked in by the overrated SEC for the last decade, bro.
>what is context
PSU has a swiss cheese o-line and is missing a gang of scholarships
UCF was favored that game.
Hack threw for 400+ yards.
Gonna steez all over the Big10, so deal with it
Got em from this article which came out a few months ago
link isn't loading right now for some fucking reason. One of the coolest breakdowns I've seen though - two or three more GIFs in there in addition to what I posted
Hey hey updated the wheel of destiny for ya
Was still their starter dumbass
Fucking smoked Wisconsin last year as 26pt underdogs too, so suck on that
Gonna continue to make waves this year as well
Keep working on your education m8
>but your team...has gotten their shit kicked in by the overrated SEC for the last decade, bro.
how is going 4-0 with 3 massive blowouts getting their shit kicked in? not even a USC fan, but if anything, USC has pushed SEC shit in for the past decade and a half and it's not even debatable. go home, southerner, you're drunk.
>LSU scores 21 unanswered points in a come from behind 4th quarter victory against the #14 team in the nation, moves up 1 sport
>Bama and Auburn barely beat shit teams, stay in top 10
>Everyone too busy circle-jerking A&M, sleeping on LSU
>mfw LSU blows through the SEC west straight to another SEC championship and brings the natty back to the SEC, and the one pollster who put us #1 makes $$$$$.
first of all, that pollster who voted LSU #1 is an admitted poll troll who always has outlandish votes, second of all, you're glossing over the fact that LSU was down by 17 in the 4th against a B1G team.
>Auburn barely beats shit team
45-21 over Arkansas and 24-0 in the second half when Marshall came in the game.
>John Rich's comments about ISIS
what, did he say he supports them or something? Can't possibly believe anyone can get offended by insulting people who have cut off Americans heads.
>publish story back in late spring
>re-publish it as current news in September
>retards eat it up, as they love click bait
Holy fuck that's pants on head retarded
Rip his credentials
>georgia fan bracing for the annual wtf game
I feel you bro. So much talent goes through that school yet so little hardware. Good luck this season, they looked great 2nd half no doubt.
Did you watch the game
>literally threw ground balls to wide open receivers all game long
>made high school tier decisions several times
>provided no consistent threat
Bama will lose 3 if he's the starter all season
>OSU covers the spread against one of the best rushing teams in the nation.
>Drops 3 spots
>Alabama gets embarrassed by a Big 12 bottom feeder who was four dropped passes away from upsetting and loses two defensive starters in their already week secondary
>Doesn't drop. Still gets first place vote.
>living south of the Mason Dixon line
I'm shocked, you have internet access in your swamp?
Anyone else already not care about September cfb thanks to muh playoffs? As a Badger fan I wasn't nearly as depressed as I should have been this week since we could still run the shitty B1G West and make it. Didn't feel excited watching Navy almost beat OSU for the same reason.
It was an illegal forward pass which should count as a turnover
Pretty stupid rule.
If the receiver threw it backwards it would have been a fumble and TD for Arizona
Arizona is penalized because the receiver threw the ball in a forward direction
>tfw sitting this Saturday
But me, the fan, is happy. Petty should sit until Big 12 play starts. It's not like Sam Russell can't drive the Ferrari in automatic mode through Buffalo and the rest of the fodder.
i forgot i still had this image on my hard drive
1. Why is Tennessee not ranked when they BTFO utah state
2. Why is Florida State ranked #1 when they struggled
3. Why does Notre Dame have to lose their way out of rankings every year?
4. How happy is everyone to see Alabama lose this year?
1. Beating Utah State isn't that impressive, need more than just that. However that win certainly should put them on the radar.
2. Because they won the national championship last year. I personally don't they they deserve to keep that spot, but that's how it usually goes, defending champ stays there until they lose.
3. I agree that ND is often overrated, but they pretty consistently have good records each season.
4. I would be very happy to see bama lose, people need to just accept that Bama is on the decline.
2) FSU didn't struggle, dingus. Just didn't BTFO a team that finished 10-3 last year. FSU never trailed, and OSU never even made a serious threat to take the lead. FSU outgained them by 100 yards.
Sometimes in not sure if some of you guys know college football, or sports in general, at all. Every game shouldn't be 60-3.
No, this is a continuation of the story from the sting about the mandatory Title IX federal investigation. The new news is that the accuser finally was interviewed by FSU. It took so long because, according to the university, the accuser refused to be interviewed until now. Basically same shit different day. If FSU finds that her story isn't credible, everyone will say he's guilty and they're covering it up. Casher and Darby were already interviewed, and they're both still on the team, so I see no reason why anything bad will happen to Winston.
Why the FUCK is Alabama ranked number two? That is retarded.
Because they beat big bad FCS school? Bama won by 10 against a Power 5 team. That's more impressive than beating a bad FCS team 100-0. WVU would beat S. Dakota St. by as much as Oregon did. Hell, me, you, and 9 more cfb anons could beat that team.
Why does everyone forget that Oregon shits multiple beds when they play actual defenses? Does anyone actually believe Mark Helfrich is a good coach and not Larry Coker and Rich Rodriguez 2.0
part of the catch to getting federal funding for a state uni. University must investigate all allegations of a sexual nature made by a student or against a student. There are investigations ongoing in about 45 FBS schools right now. This has no legal standing, its a University code of conduct thing.
GT Bro here. Didn't watch that game but trading blows with a cupcake like that looked nasty from the scoreboard. I don't wanna go on the Middle Tennessee state ride again.
wat? Title IX isn't just about women being equal in college sports. Its a wide ranging peice of legislation that universities are required to adhere to in order to receive federal funding. Title IX isn't in question here, the investigation is required by Title IX.
>coming off a 13 and 1 season, including an undefeated conference record.
>actually winning the Rose Bowl against a good team rather than get BTFO by a mediocre team
>return starting QB
Anyone that thinks this Michigan St. team isn't better than Alabama or even Florida St. needs their head examined
>Thinking the beginning of the season means much
This coming after Sparty lost to the Irish last season and had lots of questions on offense, and you're looking to point fingers at top teams struggling in their first games?
Michigan State would get BTFO by Bama or FSU. They simply don't have a good enough offense to score on those defenses. Not that hard to score on powderpuff B1G D's. You have no clue how much better talent and athletes FSU and Bama field over every team in the B1G. Who the fuck did MSU play the first week? Some nobody FCS team? Bama and FSU played Power 5 teams, and won. Come back when you don't drop one to ND.
Since when does never trailing and out gaining your opponent playing like shit? Do you really believe #1 teams should beat every team by 40? 2001 Miami played closer games than that against Big East teams, and they're considered the best college team of all time. Lrn to college football.
BTW, Okie State has a beastly playmaker in Hill, a good, not great, QB, and a beastly D Line. They're a good team that will challenge for Big 12 title.
>>coming off a 14 and 0 season, including an undefeated conference record.
>actually winning the National Championship against a good team rather than get BTFO by a mediocre team
>return starting QB
Anyone who thinks Florida State isn't better than Michigan State should have their head examined.
what makes you think FSU wants this headache? No school wants to investigate its students. Its not a flaw in Title IX. Schools should investigate sex crimes involving students. Like I said, this isn't a legal investigation, its strictly pertaining to code of conduct.
>what makes you think FSU wants this headache
This headache could become a fuckin migraine unless that accuser pulls out the lawsuit card out of nowhere because of muh protection bullshit as a student. Foremost, the COC needs to updated or changed because of these silly stuffs like this.
they should have lost that game against Boise, they looked terrible, and BO is totally shit. He should be on a beach with a surfboard, not trying to play QB
you're an idiot, you gonna tell me the Stanford D last year was a pushover? And they have plenty of firepower, they have good RBs and a really good QB at minimum.
>mfw I watched K-State convincingly win an opening game
>mfw it was my last home opener that I'll be in the student section for
Hold me, /sp/. I'm not prepared for it to be over.
I'm sorry you don't get to experience all this goodness.
>tie Auburn and look pretty good on offense
>no d-line pressure
>get btfo in the second half after willing themselves back into the game
This shit fucking hurts ;__;
Okie state lost almost every decent player they had. Also, last year, FSU blew out every opponent they faced except for Auburn. This year they start with a close game against a middle-tier big 12 team that lost pretty much every decent player they had that kept their team afloat last year.
FERPA, another price of federal legislation is what keeps all of this private, not lawsuits. I suggest, humbly, that you look into this and learn more about it before commenting on its efficacy. As an FSU fan, unfortunately, I've had to look a lot deeper into it. I don't have issue with the Title IX process at all. My beef really comes in the suspicious timing of everything. 2013, Winston starts getting serious Heisman buzz, accuser comes out. During offseason, not a peep. 2014 football starts, all of sudden its back on the front page.
Gundy recruits well, they returned most of their DLine, their RB, their QB, and 3 WRs. Hill is the real deal (FSU recruited him hard). You're a fool to underestimate them, just as the media and FSU fans, myself included, did. There's a reason they've won 41 games in the last 4 years.
If UF wins every game but loses to FSU and FSU is undefeated, then yes, because FSU is undefeated defending national champs, and by definition, winning every game means UF wins the SEC East and SEC Championship Game.
You would probably need a 2-loss team to win the SEC championship game and not make the playoff
I liked the game as a whole because it was exciting the whole time. I was ready for an epic finish for Jameis, where he only had those 2 downs to get the 20 yards for a TD.
and then they get handed the ship with 4 downs on the 1 yard line.
Ruined my whole experience.
>up 21-10 at halftime
FSU destroyed Auburn in the second half.
are you fucking blind, that was obviously pass interference, nobody denies that. Wouldn't have mattered if refs had called the blatant horsecollar on Greene a few plays before. Straws, you're grasping at them.
>whaaahh we beat a team for a half, we deserved the win.
Stars matter. The last 9 Champions have signed over 50% blue chip recruits, all of them. Probably more than 9 years, but the composite rankings for recruits didnt start until 2005.
That doesn't mean that every team that signed more than 50% will or can win, just that every team that doesn't sign 50% or more CANT win.
>oh no! he barely touched his jersey, better give them the game
you're an idiot, he tried to buttfuck him.
>tfw I'll never see them win a NC
Hold me, spee
Yes I am eternally butthurt over flo st.'s sorry excuse for refball last year. That won't change and I'll freely admit to it.
But I comfort myself knowing I don't pull for a team that was offered sec membership but turned it down because they knew they couldn't cut it
Who are your picks for teams on the decline?
Oregon - Chip Kelly was a big part of their success and their pace doesn't seem as intimidating
South Carolina - Topped out the last few years but probably average 8-9 wins for the next several seasons
Clemson - See South Carolina
Alabama - It's only a matter of time before the offense becomes a tire fire and teams are learning how to pass all over them
Ohio State - Lost too much from last year and Urban Meyer hasn't proven he can sustain success
Oklahoma plays in a power 5 conference.
Michigan State plays in a power 5 conference.
Oklahoma beat two top 10 teams.
Michigan State beat two top 10 teams.
Oklahoma lost some key players but is returning a lot of key players as well.
Michigan State lost some key players but is returning a lot of key players as well.
Michigan State had a better record than Oklahoma last year but OU played everybody in their conference while MSU missed out on Wisconsin and Penn State.
If they beat Oregon then you can say they are better but until then there isn't much of an argument for either side.
Good, you should've join the ACC when had the chance.
how can you be this buttblasted
auburn back to irrelevant quickly pls
Its simple. Conference above all UNLESS said team in your conference runs a gimmick offense, then you are obligated to root for opposing non conference team.
So feel free to root for MSU.
>Ranked behind UCLA, Baylor, and two teams with 0-1 records
I'll be pulling for Michigan State the same way as I was pulling for Stanford against them last year.
Without any bias towards a particular team or conference I pull for the defense-oriented team more often than not.
>LSU was BTFO
Except they literally won. Are you even fucking serious?
I don't think people are comfortable with investing into LSU yet. They struggled a lot against Wisc and though they got the win, they didn't make it look like it was out of reach.
The more they win, the more that win over Wisconsin will count for. People are reserving their opinions on LSU until they've knocked out a few more Ws
I agree with you. I was just pointing out that this particular anon thought LSU got blown the fuck out, when they didn't even lose. It's one thing that /sp/ergs love to dismiss statistics, but to just blatantly say a win was a loss and a BTFO loss at that? This board is just absurd at times.

What are the playoff implications for Oregon x Michigan State? There basically aren't any. Maybe a tiny bit if the committee has to choose between the B1G champion and the PAC12 champion.
Playoff diminishes the importance of the regular season, especially out of conference games. Though one could certainly argue it's a worthy price to pay.
Not necessarily. If Michigan State goes undefeated in the B1G and loses to Oregon, there's still a pretty good chance of making the final four. Whereas before they'd have taken a beating in the polls from which they'd likely never recover (not being Alabama) unless everyone above them loses. We're moving to a system now where all that really matters is winning your conference. One team gets left out from the "big 5" even in that case, but compared to the old system where there was all this pressure to be absolutely perfect, perfection doesn't matter as much.
It'll matter even less when we move to eight teams, as is obviously going to happen eventually.
how long are we stuck with the 4-team playoff for?
with an 8 team playoff all 5 major champions would get an auto-berth, making the CCG's basically round-of-16 tier games, which would be cool.
My guess is either until an SEC team gets in despite having an obviously worse record than one of the big 5, or until an SEC team fails to get in over another team in a difficult decision.
Either way it'll be the SEC pushing for it first, count on it.
TAMU, Baylor, Texas, TTU, TCU and UTSA are all decent teams. Houston is usually okay, though they suck this year. UTEP, Rice and SMU have all been known to pull off upsets and generally not be chopped liver.
Though, Texas State and North Texas are terrible, I'll give you those.
