I think part of it is the ironic decoupling of marriage as a social institution. In the past marriage was considered pretty much obligatory. If you were middle class and successful you were probably married. For men it wasn't a burden to have a family and successful career. These things weren't mutually exclusive. For women it wasn't degrading to be married and have kids.

If decreasing the significance of marriage liberated women, it liberated men as well. As women were under less social pressure to be married, the same was naturally true for men. Frankly it terms of the current culture marriage is dated. I think many men and women realize this which is why you see many couples in stable relationships with children who aren't married.

As much blame as SJW and feminists get for women's moving into careers there is another factor in this that probably played a bigger role. Women are huge spenders, especially of status brand items. Their movement into careers created huge markets. As households or individuals women now are much more able to participate as consumers so add late capitalism as another thing to hate for killing off marriage.
