Reminder that universal suffrage was a mistake lads.
>To permit irresponsible authority is to sow disaster; to hold a man responsible for anything he does not control is to behave with blind idiocy. The unlimited democracies were unstable because their citizens were not responsible for the fashion in which they exerted their sovereign authority . . . other than through the tragic logic of history. The unique 'poll tax' that we must pay was unheard of. No attempt was made to determine whether a voter was socially responsible to the extent of his literally unlimited authority. If he voted the impossible, the disastrous possible happened instead—and responsibility was then forced on him willy-nilly and destroyed both him and his foundationless temple.

I don't think this is the end, but the UK and Europe needs a crisis so that a far-right movement can sweep away the chatterers in Westminster and beyond. The bourgeois are so privatised that they will only support us when their savings & assets are decimated... Hopefully there will be a great crash, then people like you and myself will be seen as the saviors.

Having a 7-way debate completely robbed the discussion of any focus, and the lefty mongs in the audience were wooping and clapping like children every time Tim Farron or Jeremy Corbyn said 'we should spend loads of money on our NHS'

Jeremy Corbyn has probably won.

May talks about stability and strength but can't even face domestic leaders to defend herself, yet Tory shills will defend this.

>I am torn between tory (better for brexit negotiations)
Tory's are clearly toxic and useless when it comes to Brexit. Cameron was hopeless and lost all allies before getting into negotiations. Fucked them around with stopping tariffs and propping up London's money laundering business.

After May's sucking up to Trump and already losing her cool on several occasions I doubt whether she can negotiate a deal full stop. She will probably be knifed by her cabinet before she demotes the majority of them like Boris and Hammond.

With Labour we at least have Keir Starmer who is probably one of our most respected politicians in Europe. Regardless the noise coming out of the Civil Service is really grim regarding Brexit and the scale of the task.

Top tip: go on the Daily Mail articles about her and read the comments. People are very clear that they don't care about her, or any aspect of her life. Even C list clebs don't get that totally negative response. The articles themselves get very few shares, and not that many comments (even including the comments saying "fuck off, no one cares").
And yet the DM keeps trying to push the Pippa meme. They're obviously getting paid to promote her.

Why should have they? If our government had actually tried to reduce the problem of free movement like other European countries did it wouldn't have been as much as an issue and other countries would have at least had sympathy.

Instead the Conservatives chased policies that increased immigration. We have scape goated Europe for too long. He could have also built allies but on many occasions fucked up like in voting against Junker.

David Davis is a complete fool who doesn't know what he is doing. The orchestrates of Brexit have never had a plan. This plastic MP is one of the most capable Lawyers in Europe.

Nationalised rail is the future. But it has to be run properly.

As it stands, some of our railway companies are owned by DB (the German government's railway company) and whenever we buy tickets some of the profits go directly to Germany to build roads and feed nogs.

That's a stupid fucking mess.

Normal people crowd around good looking (or people who they think are good looking) like pigeons. If you're attractive enough by normie standards, you're fighting off Channel 5 reality TV show producers with a stick on a daily basis.

The truth is that the YouGov sample weightings are wildly inaccurate. Their publicly-available methodology shows that they use census weighting instead of historic general election trend weighting. They're basically ignoring the fact that young people don't vote, and old people do.

Maybe they're expecting a Brexit-like turnout, but that's just not going to happen. The YouGov poll is fucked beyond belief at the most basic level.

You seem to be going on early polls when Labour was 20 points behind. They're not anymore, son.

Even if Tories win, the Labour resurgence suggests they will lose seats in many regions weakening their control.

Funny how we get a split thread and it's absolute bliss in one, peace and quiet, typical comfy banter; and in the other, nothing but pathetic shitposting and desperate shilling.

Almost like there was a concerted effort to brigade the threads or something.

I know you lefties think that you're God's gift, that you're smart enough to get people to do what you want, that you'll be on the barricades with a loudspeaker during the revolution, etc. But you're really not as clever as you think you are. You're about as subtle as a casket-bound cumshot at a funeral. We might not be able to detect 100% of your posts 100% of the time, but it's night and day when you're here and when you fuck off.

So just accept that it's not happening, and fuck off please.

Britain, what would be worse for Britain :

Corbyn winning or Theresa losing narrowly?

When it comes down to Britain "Waking up" and brexit happening? I feel like Theresa losing narrowly would just lead to a slow death and Corbyn would lead to a fast death&rebirth.
>>
>>127923604
Nah because when black and brown mix we get dark brown. When white and brown mix we get light brown. And their culture would slowly become more British rather than becoming more nog. We're never going to deport these people and they're going to keep having children so unless we isolate them from us we should look to turn them all white and make them lose their background and turn into us.

I bet it would only take around 4 or 5 generations until the average Muslim was nearly indistinguishable from the average European.

It would definitely piss their parents off though
>>
>>127924043
I kind of agree with energy and water, simply due to the fact that they are taking the piss out of the consumer. I've always resented having to pay for water, as we're always told in those water aid adverts for Africa that it's a basic human right.

as for energy, well I've done some work for energy companies, and I cannot justify why someone has to pay £1,000 a year to have hot water, to cook food, to have a warm home in winter. how do you justify that? there is no competition in those industries, it's a cartel, and anyone who denies that is either oblivious or fucking ignorant.

but transport? nah, I think they're doing okay in private hands. not great, not bad, but okay. better than BR ever was.
>>
>>127923652
Looking back on the EU ref I can tell you no grown up decisions were made. It was a farce but its happened now you're correct.

But they've admitted there was never a plan. Cameron certainly didn't ever foresee one before he jumped ship.

What is wrong with it is the mountains of legal paper work and that it will probably take us 20-30 years to fully disentangle from the EU. A couple of generations down the line we may have been better off but with society crumbling will it be worth it? Or will a compromise on semi-remaining in the EU be a better solution? But that would go against your grown up decision of "being off".
>>

>It's not just YouGov and a quick Google search would reveal that
But it is.
The only other poll with them within 8% is survation and that assumed 82% youth turnout and so is joke-tier.
The rest are all 8-12% gaps. Yes it's smaller than the ridiculous gaps a month a go, but say it was a tory win by 9%, that's a very comfortable majority still.
>May is the UK's answer to Trump
What on earth are you on about? I'm just saying why the "labour can win" meme is rubbish. The tories have had a pretty shit campaign, but also a lot of the labour gain has come from eating up votes from the lib dems and greens.
The tories will win this, despite being a bit shit.

One way of doing lefties' heads in is to steer a conversation onto capitalism and specifically why monopolies are bad, then get them to try to explain why state-run monopolies are somehow good. It's funny as well because state-run monopolies are even worse than regular ones because they have even less incentive to provide a good service.

If the energy and water companies are ripping us off, private transport companies definitely are too.

I do agree that they're run better now than in the past (from what I've read anyway) but that's down to bad management of British Rail, nothing to do with the ownership structure.

I'm kind of a 'nationalise everything' person, but I think there should be private competition to that. So I think we should have nationally owned banks, but also allow private banks to operate to give the customer choice. I think that toll roads are a good idea in certain places, but only as an option, not as the only choice.

I actually think that the value you get from the railway isn't too bad currently, if you're smart about it. If you book in advance for a one off, or whether you're booking a monthy/quarterly/bi-annual/annual season ticket, the value it represents is pretty decent. example - I used to commute from Rugby to Coventry and back every day, and the cost of a monthly season ticket was little over £100, which obviously equates to about £3.30 a day - and would have been even cheaper if I'd had the money to buy a season ticket covering a longer period of time.

the energy and water companies have no fucking excuse though, they need to do better, and I hope the rules coming in regarding the water boards have an effect, the same with the price cap Mummy May is promising on energy. I won't hold my breath, though.

>>127925973
impossible, Catholicism could only "self-deny" Christianity because it had the power to keep people ignorant of the bible. The reformation and french revolution were actually progressions into a purer state of Christianity, with the removal of the paganism of old Catholicism. Catholics were right to murder the cuck gnostic heretics and forge documents to preserve their power, but now people can read the NT and see Christ as the Buddhist he was, Catholicism cannot retain the paganism of Rome. (read Will to Power)

I have said, and I'll say again: Europe must choose either Odysseus or Mohammed, Paganism or Islam. I agree with Bowden, we need a Nietzschean return to the Classical world.
>>
>>127925973
The good parts are the entirety of the religion.

Moral relativism must be crushed. The only way to do that is through promoting religion, and id rather promote one that has been demonstrated to aid in the creation of functional and stable society.

It's atheism that's on the decline my man.

Regardless, whether or not Christianity is dead is irrelevant to the discussion. Christianity should be promoted. It is a stabilising force, provides people with a moral backbone, preventing them from committing acts of evil, and most importantly, it is intimately tied to our history as a people. To abandon it would be utterly despicable and a betrayal of everything this nation stands for.

Personally I don't feel science has much to do with religion.

The best arguments for the existence of God come not from science, but from philosophy. Especially Christian apologetics.

If you haven't already I'd recommend reading the works of apologists such as Feser, Plantinga, and Wolterstorff. Feser's introduction to the arguments of Aquinas and their modern variants is a good place to start.

we need a return to the dispositions of the classical world. Athens, Rome, Renaissance, Enlightenment, and then... The New Millennium?

We MUST restore the classical world. Christianity has been dead for 150 years. Whimpering old men like Hitchens cannot conceive a non-christian, illiberal future, but we must aspire to nothing short of the restoration of the pre-Socratic in our own souls.
