IQ was only shown higher related to some specific issues that did not ask people party affiliation. Other surveys that did ask party registration did not control to make sure that they surveyed representative demographics.

That is to say, surveys saying high IQ people are usually Democrats but that only surveyed on a mostly white college campus, will dramatically over represent whites on the survey, and over represent whites that were accepted to college.

Perhaps the largest flaw of this work is that the questions were not asked at a monitored Iq test location. IQ scores were a self report. The raw data showed many democrats putting invalid scores, like 180 IQ.

This is invalid because the two standard tests, the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, and the Stanford–Binet Intelligence Scales, do not score above 160.

Another problem is that STEM students tried to be accurate in this self report and more often than any other group, selected that they did not know their IQ score. Which wrote out a large number of republicans. What's worse, some surveys put in the group mean when there were missing IQ scores. This is an incorrect methodology that caused republican scores to be much lower than they really are.

In summary: self Reporting IQ is obviously a major problem, filling in missing data is an error, and oversampling the left's smartest group is a major source of external consistency.

In conclusion: these surveys have multiple sources of error and bias. If anything, it proves that liberal arts majors think very highly of their own intelligence despite typically reporting that they struggle through the easiest math course colleges offer (college algebra). Note, all STEM majors begin their first semester with a more advanced math course.
