I'm saving the thread to watch the videos posted when I get off work but there was an anon on there that asked what my liberal and conservative views and the thread archived before I could post it, so here they are. I'd also be interested in anymore arguments as to why I shouldn't be a centrist anymore and just join the far right.

I just finished watching 13 hours.
I want to know what is actually happening in the middle east.
I remember hearing about all of the events going on in Syria and Libya but I have no idea what happened.

As far as I know, Gaddafi was a dictator and America was still fighting the war on terrorism.

But I want to know the truth. How is 9/11 connected to Syria/Libya and to what is happening current day?
Help me get started in the right direction, I want to learn and read more about this.

I feel a lot of this has to do with the disconnection of people of all races losing what their humanity is and living in a culture of convienence and accessibility. We don't live in a world were you could starve to death or die in hand to hand combat.. theres no survival.. dan carlin of hardcore history mentions this in a podacst about the history of football and how after end of battling indians when our society progressed to college life we created footbal the emulate warfare.. so I feel we are just rping and larping this primal compulsion irl.. its sad.. land ownership and the passive slavery which is employment/rent/homeownership/cost of needs (food/clothing/etc..) has taken the knack of survival from our culture.. we used to work hard for these things and create them ourselves and gain pride and fulfillment from this.

I'll explain this quickly, because it's important: those statues are just a symptom of the rot. You see, before the 90's, the south (even a big city like Atlanta) was slower, laid-back, sort of disconnected from the frenetic global-capitalist culture of the northeast and California. Southerners had their own lifestyle, and economics was merely a portion of it - and not the most important portion.

But by the late-80's/early-90's, southern officials began to get greedy, and realized the potential profits if they allowed multinational corporations to set up in their states, giving them tax incentives and other favors to do so. Once the corporations got in, they began to dictate terms to state governments. At first, this didn't seem like a problem, since they mainly cared about business-related stuff.

But as we've all seen, the modern corporate world has swung hard to the neoliberal left in recent times, and it has dragged the south along with it. Remember Nikki Haley's reflexive cucking on the Confederate flag after Dylan Roof? She acted quickly to comfort her multinational corporate patrons above all. Statues, tranny bathrooms, whatever - if the multinationals demand it, they get it.

This is why the current round of outrage over states will probably amount to nothing. If you want to know what the south will look like in the future, then look at what the big corporate conglomerates want. Because since the 90's, they have ultimately been making the decisions.
