This Tueseday an 18yo girl and her male friend (not bf) were returning from their school's prom in Ostend as they were approached by 3 foreigners. The 3 men demanded money, so her friend gave all he got (70 euros).

But the 3 men wanted more, they started groping the girl while at the mean time threatening her friend with a knife and forcing him to watch it. This went on for 20mins. Her friend was too afraid to do something.

So far the police have not yet found the culprits.

German here visiting the US on business.

Why are there so many fat people in the US? In Germany, we have specific programs to ensure healthy living styles.

Also in Germany, the people are happy to pay a little more in Tax so our fellow Germans can have proper healthcare at a very low cost?

Is it worth dedicating time and resources towards combating mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder and depression?

Or is it better to just accept that some people just aren't cut out for modern society and leave them to either suck it up and power through, or commit suicide and thereby become less of a societal burden?

We know that humans are better adapted towards a hunter-gatherer rather than sedentary lifestyle, and while our versatility allows us to flourish in spite of such environmental changes, not everyone is automatically happier as a result.

Is it worth trying to rehabilitate those who cannot (or refuse to) adapt? Apparently NIMH estimates like 6-7% of all adults in the U.S. have had (or still have) a major depressive episode.

What is it about Catholicism that causes priests, cardinals, and worshippers to diddle kids? It's not like it only happens in one location. It is a common occurrence all over the world, be it American, Australia, Europe, Africa, South America, or Asia.
