Guys, I've been looking for a new bike and stumbled across an 04 GSX-R1000 Mladin race replica with 8000 on it for just over 4500. Comes with a suit, some boots, a helmet, and 4 other jackets.

What are /DBT/s thoughts on the K4 GSX-R1000?

No, he just commuted on a straight line.

>>17286483
Honestly, it boots at $4750 according to KBB. I lied, he's asking $4500 on the button. I haven't talked to the seller yet, but I'm guessing the guy never rode the damn thing so the tires are probably old and need to be replaced. Would try to talk down.
>>
>>17286285
Not comfy enough
>>
>>17286483
Also it looks like the suit that he's offering has sliders that are worn down on it, so it looks like it was tracked. Is there anything to worry about regarding a bike that was tracked?

I've just done some math. The combined value of those items is around $1. Keep this in mind when you negotiate the ridiculously high price down abit.

Just let them be, I can read their 5th Reich plans. Their current plans won't be successful.
>>
>>17286558
It does depend on the bike.
A bike that's 20k+ when new is normally around 5k around that point.

But that's mostly heavy tourers and adv bikes.
>>
>>17286450

The fact that it is a Matt Mladin special edition doesn't mean shit. The fact that it has low miles is cool but yet again doesn't mean shit

If you want a fair deal, factoring in the maintenance that it will probably need (tires and an oil change), I'd offer $3500. If he doesn't take it, no big deal. There are thousands of these bikes out there and you'll find the right deal eventually.
>>
>>17286450
There was a couple year mid 00's where the 1k gixxers had a ton of issues

I'm not doing the research for you, just be currfull.

If you can snipe it for 4k its probably an alright deal, especially if the gear fits. Hope its not your first bike, or rip.

I like it
Finally a bit more power than the R65. I even feared that I would find the BMW too weak after buying the XJ, but it still is totally fine.
I got it for pretty cheap, everything is good with it. The only problem is, that the clutch is slipping sometimes. But it's missing a spring on the lever that actuates bzw. returns the clutch at the engine case, maybe that's the reason.

I wish the CL search engine was a little better. For now I make sure to include any possible combination of spelling for my bike. Like when selling my DRZ I would include: DR-Z400S, DRZ 400 S, DRZ400 S, etc all in my add at some point.

Yeah there is a 10U for my Corsair as well, but the cardo is just an all around better system imo. Even for a clamp mounted unit it's extremely small and thin, on top of that you can swap speakers out for whatever you want. I am ditching my sena soon for cardo.
>>

Only the last 30 were aimlessly riding, and that did get a little boring because there were so many cops out that night. I almost smoked a bicyclist because he was crossing lanes of traffic with no lights or reflectors at all, so I chewed him out.

Are vibrations harmful to a bike? I'm getting especially at around 4k rpm a lot of vibration from what feels like the engine and i'm worried if i should just avoid staying for longer in that range.
>>

What bike?
>>
>>17287118

>>
>>17287159
Engines always vibrate, around 4k it's just that your frame is vibrating with it.
>>
>>17287159
No, it's normal for vibrations to be more noticeable at certain RPMs. You don't need to avoid that rev range, but you can if it's uncomfortable.

Government advices it actually here, traffic is kinda jammed and the rail lines are absolute shit and don't even think about taking a bus to work, as you can't unless you start working around 12 and are allowed to leave at 6, or you're stuck at work until the next day.

>and this is not only during the weekdays
This weekend the shut down a mayor highway in the country, which caused a massive gridlock on the one near it. And they shut down the train line in the same place for the weekend for rail work too. With the expected accidents this effectively closed of my city from the rest of the country, during a four day weekend with sunny weather.

My country is pretty chill for bikers. Lower taxes, lower insurance, no inspections, cops generally don't give a fuck and people are used to bikes. Only thing missing is proper filtering, but most of the time you can get by with lane splitting.
Also the tax discount for hybrid cars is now removed, and the government is focussing more on getting people onto bikes. They're not doing much for it, but they're also doing nothing against for a change.

is the husky yours? how do you like it?
>>
>>17287539
You wanna expand on that answer or are you content with being a smarmy dick?

How do they work differently?
>>
>>17288501
Speedos usually work by counting wheel rotations and displaying a speed based on that. Swapping a speedo from a bike with a different wheel size will result in the speedometer not being accurate anymore.

Tachometers work differently as well, some have a shaft sensor and others run off of intermittent electrical signals generated by alternators / spark plugs(?). This is why you see some aftermarket tachometers marketed as working for "most single cylinder motorcycles" or "most 4 cylinder motorcycles".
>>
>>17288560
Not to mention that some speedos operate mechanically (they have a cable that runs from the speedo down to the axle where the end of the cable fits into some sort of gear that twists the cable as the wheel spins) and other speedos operate via electronic sensors that detect wheel revolutions.
>>
>>17288482

I had to park downtown for some court-related faggotry a while back and the only spot I could find was at a meter. I came back out about 30minutes later and some other guy had parked his bike next to mine, piggybacking off my meter time.

At first I was mad (he's using the parking time I paid for nurrrr durrrr) but then my perma-retardation ebbed for but a fleeting moment and I realized that I was out the money either way but at least this way the city didn't get to jew another person out of that much more and I got to eyefuck the bike, so I left feeling much happier.

it's probably dust picked up from the driveway. if you run over any sort of dirt before getting off to check, your tire will look like that

how do you guys keep track of your mileage / fuel economy? Little book? App? Balance after every ride? every months? Save gas receipts?

I was checking out this ad, looking for a cheap starter bike that doesn't just "blend in," 125 means it's a little on the small side, right? Will it at least carry a 200lb man higher than 50mph?

>rode down to the shore for the first time on neu bike
>first trip over 30 miles
>250 miles total round trip
>ride back was through patches of rain
>half highway, half twisty country roads

stopped at cycle gear for once and bought a pair of new shitgloves, got the wrong size but too much spagetti to go back and replace

fun trip tho

Have you had to take it in for any kind of service yet? What was the cost? How many miles are on it?

Sorry I got a lot of questions, been seriously considering picking one up but I don't know anyone with one.
>>
>>17289269
My bike has a gauge for all that.
>>
>>17289483
huh? Look like they fit nice and snug
>>
If you lost traction in the rear, you aren't braking well. Minimize directional traction use and master increasing pressure on the front brake for emergency braking on the street.

Ok thanks.

It seems like the speedo would be the easiest to change.

I want to replace my forks entirely, So whatever I pull the forks from I should take the speedometer too.

The magna im working on has some wonky steering geometery and id like to try a different fork and wheel setup to see how that works out.

rider essentials

Actually, old-timer Harley style riders use to run these tassels as functional decorative items. Did I say decorative? I meant defensive and offensive weaponry.
